PoliticsRe: Taraba, soldiers gunned down mourning and protesting youths. by Positivepoint(m): 11:11pm On Aug 05, 2018
this made front page yesterday on nairaland. We should be fair in reporting.

Another set of Internally displaced persons (IDPs) have began trooping into Jalingo, the state's capital city.

This followed after armed militias launched an unprovoked attacks on Thursday night and early hours of Friday on the Hausa-Fulani's town of Kunnini and it's suburbs in Lau local government area. The attackers reportedly killed many, burned down several houses and rendered hundreds mostly women and children homeless.

As at yesterday, nine people who were badly wounded from the brutal attacks have been hospitalized at the Jalingo Federal medical Center (FMC) and receiving treatment in the intensive care unit..

Eyes witnesses and survivors that fled for their lives reported that the militias came in hundreds armed with guns, machetes and local weapons, unleashed the mayhem by sporadic bullets shots and burning of houses.

This mayhem just happened four (4) days after some militias launched similar attacks on Fulani's village in in the neighbouring Ardo Cola LGA , where one Ardo Musa was killed.

According to reports, similar sad events equally took place early last month (July) where over thirty four (34) Hausa-fulanis villages were burned down , ransacked, killed and rendered thousands homeless across Lau LGA by the armed coalition of Yandang, Mumuye and Bachama militias.

Arrrrrrghh. I don’t support that oo. What the US needs to do is make a categorical statement that they don’t want Nigerians in their country again. It is a very simple matter. And it is better than robbing people of their hard earned application fees.

We know Nigeria has failed, maybe that’s why Nigerians are being rejected worldwide. The structural problems of the country has to be tackled at some point. We cannot keep being afraid of the violence of the northerners. If southerners can’t leave this failed contraption, we might as well face the notherners war for war and repossess our country.
And how comes we northerners dont get rejected. never heard any northerner visa application being rejected. We dont over stay our visit and we dont engage in crime oversees. so i think u people should look inwards the actual problem lies within u. correct it u ll get visas every where

I am asking this question with a heavy heart because a friend of mine told me his F1 visa application—as well as that of all intending students to the US—was denied this morning. He answered all the questions of the visa officer perfectly but he was still denied. He was aked if he is married and had kids, and he answered in the negative. Could his being single be a factor in the denial of his application? Or is there something else prompting the US embassy to deny Nigerians visas? I am really perplexed because my friend expended a lot of money to apply and gain admission to a US school. If the US doesnt want Nigerians to come to their country anymore, they can as well a formal and well publicized directive to that effect. The practice of swindling Nigerians of exorbitant visas fees must be deprecated and discouraged by the Nigerian Government.

According to my friend, all intending students for masters degree to the US were denied their visas this morning. Not even one was issued a visa. This is the height of visa discrimination and something must be done to remedy the situation. Nigerians cannot continue to waste their hard earned money to apply for visa that has already been denied by fiat of the authorities at the State Department(Foggy Bottom). We need clarity and honesty on this visa issue from US authorities. Enough is Enough. angry angry angry angry angry angry

Mods, do the needful, please.

A mild drama occurred yesterday in the quiet community of Abatete in Anambra state between Fulani herdsmen and vigilante members. According to a video footage posted online, the Fulani herdsmen abandoned their cows and properties after sighting members of the vigilante group who arrived their camp in a bush.

It was reported that the Vigilante members called them back for a 'friendly talk' but they refused.

The took to their heels over fear of risking their lives.

The vigilantes removed their camp as they said they don't want the herdsmen in their land to avoid trouble.

the north will use same medium as radio and religious places to preach same thing. we already know igbos bring drugs to the north which is why drug abuse a becoming an issue. That is the platforms the north will adopt.

NaijaCelebrity:
Spectator Index has published a World Health Organization (WHO) study which ranked suicides per 100,000 cases. According to the report, Nigeria has 15 percent per 100,000, ranking as the 5th highest rate of suicide in the world

How can this be curbed?

http://www.ngg.ng/2018/08/02/nigeria-ranks-the-5th-highest-rate-of-suicide-in-the-world/
Your report is wrong. Nigeria Is ranked number 71

Suicide Rate By Country 2018
Suicide occurs throughout the world, affecting individuals of all nations, cultures, religions, genders and classes. In fact, statistics show that the countries with the highest suicide rates in the world are incredibly diverse. For example, among the top five are the south Indian island nation of Sri Lanka (35.3 suicides per 100k), South Korea in east Asia (28.3 suicides per 100k) and the eastern European country of Lithuania (32.7 suicides per 100k). A number of other eastern European countries have high suicide rates, including Belarus, Poland and Latvia, all at around 22 suicides per 100k.

In contrast, the only western European nation with a particularly high suicide rate is Belgium, which ranks at number fifteen with 20.5 suicides per 100k. However, it is worth noting that Belgium has some of the world's most liberal laws on doctor-assisted suicide, which is likely to be a factor in its statistics. Interestingly, the country of Bhutan, which is famous for measuring Gross National Happiness, an index used to measure the collective happiness and wellbeing of its population, has a relatively high suicide rate at 11.7 per 100k.

Perhaps surprisingly, many of the most troubled nations in the world have comparatively low suicide rates. Afghanistan has 5.5 suicides per 100k, Iraq has three and Syria has just 2.7. It is not clear if the suicide statistics for these countries reflect suicides committed due to mental health problems and terminal illnesses (which are the primary reasons for suicide in most of the world), or if they also include suicides committed as part of the ongoing conflicts in these countries.

The lowest suicide rates in the world are concentrated in the Caribbean Islands of the Bahamas, Jamaica, Grenada, Barbados and Antigua and Barbuda. Suicide is almost unheard of in each of these countries, with Grenada and Barbados reporting 0.5 and 0.4 suicides per 100k, respectively.

PoliticsRe: Dino Melaye: 'I Hid On A Tree For 11 Hours' by Positivepoint(m): 8:37am On Jul 30, 2018
sophsia62:
The lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye, has said contrary to the kidnap reports, the gunmen who attacked his vehicle on his way to Kogi State on Thursday wanted to kill him.

He alleged that his attackers were policemen.

Melaye, who briefed journalists in Abuja on Sunday, said he escaped the alleged assassination attempt around Gwagwalada along the Abuja-Lokoja Road on his way to attend a court case in Lokoja, the state capital.

Melaye said he ran into the bush and hid on a tree for 11 hours.

The lawmaker explained that he left Abuja in the early morning of Thursday for Lokoja and observed that a Toyota Sienna car was trailing him. He said the car overtook his car, blocked his way and the occupants started to shoot at his vehicle.

The lawmaker, who defected from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday, said when the suspected assassins realised that his vehicle was bulletproof, they attempted to burn it.

Melaye said, “When I realised that they wanted to burn my vehicle, I quickly opened the car and ran into the bush. I had to run for my life. It was the grace of God that made me to escape. When I got into the bush, I climbed a tree and stayed there. While on the tree, I saw two of the policemen coming to look for me, but they didn’t know I was on the tree. I was in the bush for 11 hours.

“My brother that was in one of the vehicles didn’t know what happened, so he had to raise the alarm that I was kidnapped. He went to the Gwagwalada police station and reported the matter.”

Thank God Buhari came to the rescue in 2015, probably ours wldv been worse, Jonathan led PDP was borrowing money to pay workers when crude oil was selling at $65 per barrel. Many Nigerians will argue this point instead of them Googling it. The only Delta in Buhari's reign is d stupid killing in middle- B
