Presidential aspirant, Senator David Mark, yesterday urged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) delegates to the National Convention of the party in Port Harcourt, Rivers State to vote for him as the candidate that would usher in peace, unity and prosperity in the nation.

Welcoming delegates to the convention, Senator Mark Senator Mark Senator Mark urged party faithful to be guided by good reasons in their choice of the presidential candidate of the party, saying that “those who were fair weather friends yesterday would not be different tomorrow.”

“We know those who are good party men and women. We know those who absconded when we had challenges. We have rebuilt and rebranded the party. They are welcome back. But it will be unjustified for them to inherit the product of our struggle,” he added.

“I’m well equipped and prepared for this assignment. My blueprint is designed to address grey areas and imbalances in our national life.”

In a press statement signed by his media aide Paul Mumeh and made available to The Nation, refuted the insinuations in some quarters that he had stepped down for another aspirant, saying “my credentials and wealth of experience puts me in a very good stead to win. I know other aspirants would step down and vote for me. I’m the aspirant to beat.

“Our programme will give every citizen a sense of belonging. No one should be oppressed or marginalised in our country.”

Gainful employment through industrialization and agriculture, functional Education, improved health care system among others, he said, would be given priority if he was elected.

Senator Mark added that he has traversed the length and breadth of Nigeria and have come to the inevitable conclusion that “all we need is good governance anchored on equity and justice for all.”

He stated that peace and unity would be an offspring of justice and equity

This is a very wrong language to use now if the PDP really hope to regain power, mark should reflect deeply.
Politics / Re: 7,000 APC Delegates To Ratify Pmb’s Candidacy by positivethought: 7:25am On Oct 06, 2018
17Ebiscoo:
No fewer than 7,000 delegates are expected at the special national convention of the APC where the party’s presidential candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari, is expected to be ratified as the party’s flag bearer. This is as clarification has emerged about those who will be among the delegates, especially in states where there are parallel executives.

However, only those recognised by the National Working Committee (NWC) will gain admittance at the venue. Briefing journalists at the APC national secretariat on behalf of the chairman, Convention Planning Committee and Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the vice chairman of the committee and Borno State governor, Dr Kashim Shettima, said the party leadership was working towards resolving outstanding knotty issues.

He said: “As we prepare for the special convention tomorrow to confirm the nomination of our candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari, let me assure you that the nomination and ratification of his candidacy is a commitment to steady, progressive and positive change. “In spite some of the challenges encountered during the primaries in our various states, the NWC of the party is working assiduously to resolve all issues.

It is a family quarrel and we are going to sort things out amicably. “We are expecting to host about 7,000 delegates from across the length and breadth of our great country and all necessary arrangements are in place for a smooth convention.”

Politics / Re: Shehu Sani’s Fate Lies With APC Delegates: El-rufai by positivethought: 7:22am On Oct 06, 2018
2Ebisco:
Gov. Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has said that the fate of Sen. Shehu Sani, (APC-Kaduna Central) lies in hands of the party delegates in the state and not in his hand as the governor.

El Rufai, who spoke with State House correspondents shortly after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday in the Presidential Villa, said that the president was a democrat, who would not support imposition.

A Kaduna State High Court had on Wednesday restrained the All Progressives Congress (APC) from conducting the primary to select the party’s candidate for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District.

The court ruled on an ex-parte motion brought by Uba Sani, a senatorial aspirant, against the APC for excluding him from the contest scheduled for Tuesday but later moved to Wednesday.

Uba Sani went to court following the release of the names of Senatorial aspirants in Kaduna on Tuesday by the APC, which indicated that the incumbent Senator, Shehu Sani, was returned unopposed for the Kaduna Central contest.

The court ordered the APC, its chairman Adams Oshiomhole, the Independent National Electoral Commission and Senator Shehu Sani to maintain the status-quo prior to Oct. 2, when the APC excluded Uba Sani and other aspirants from the contest.

“The president restated his position that he is a democrat; a product of elections and he has never encouraged non-election.

“He has never supported imposition and he has never asked anyone to grant anybody automatic tickets; the position was restated yesterday to the progressive governors forum and he told me this and said he will take necessary steps to communicate this very clearly to the party leadership.

“It is not me; I only have one vote as the governor of the state; it is up to the delegates in the Kaduna State APC to vote for Shehu Sani or vote for other candidates but what democracy said is that every person should be given a chance to contest.

“Shehu Sani has done things against the interest of the people of Kaduna state and it is time for him to explain why he did what he did and ask the delegates to vote for him but to avoid facing the consequences of your actions by getting what is called automatic ticket is a recipe to losing the election to other parties,’’ he warned.

El Rufai expressed optimism that the party would meet the INEC deadline for conduct of primaries provided that it came up with a list that did not reasonably exclude the contestants.( NAN)

Buhari is a democrat n would not support imposition when it comes to Kaduna, but not in Lagos or IMO!, shehu sani should only blame himself if eventually he is dumped.

Akinwunmi Ambode, governor of Lagos state, has publicly spoken for the first time since he lost the governorship primary election of the the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ambode just ended his live press conference which was scheduled for 2:30pm, today.

Ambode who was defeated in yesterday's primary election, thanked Lagosians and party members, congratulated Babajide Sanwo-Olu and promised to work with him to move the state forward.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a former commissioner in the state, beat the governor to the 2019 ticket.

Sanwo-Olu was backed by influential party leaders in the state, including Bola Tinubu, a former governor of the state.

Sanwo-Olu polled 970,851 votes while the governor had 72,901 votes.

https://www.amagitesblog.com/2018/10/governor-ambode-accepts-defeat-congratulates-sanwo-olu.html
Now if the kind of primary that was organised by APC in Lagos while the committee sent from the party HQ was not even aware,a primary without ballots n using option A4 not approved by the party,a primary that even the party officials doubted it credibility is finally been accepted because of the fear or satisfaction of one Man's ego is not a brazen act of corruption supported by the fake integrity claiming buhari because he stands to benefit from it,then corruption has got a whole new meaning,if the sophisticated people of Lagos can accept this then sophistication means stupidity, imaging the collective insults n buhari will claim he is fighting corruption!

chieyine:
Nigeria celebrated her 58years anniversary of Independence from Britain and the President gave a list of achievements in his administration.
Reno Omokri debunked each statement President Buhari made.
Read what he has to say about Buhari's Independence Day Speech;

How can you say “we are on the right path”? We have just been named the world headquarters for extreme poverty and you think that is the right path? Did you come to put us on the path to poverty? You can’t even articulate a plan to get us out of poverty.

As usual, President Buhari's Independence Day broadcast was full of lies. I will now expose each lie with facts and figures to back up my expositions. I feel sorry for those who say Buhari has ‘integrity’. Does a man of integrity tell so many lies?

“There has been a steady improvement in the security situation in the North East” A lie. The situation in the NE has deteriorated seriously. Almost a hundred soldiers have died in 2018. Boko Haram has attacked and overran barracks twice this year

“We are diversifying away from reliance on oil to increased manufacturing capacity” Lie. Manufacturing capacity has reduced 28% from 2015 levels.Google it. We are dependent on foreign loans. Buhari has borrowed more than any other in our history

“Efforts are on course in the Niger Delta to clean up polluted lands” Another BIG LIE. 2 years after Prof Osinbajo flagged off Ogoni Cleanup, not a drop of oil has been cleaned. Instead, a maritime university meant for the Niger Delta was scrapped

“Conflict between herders and farmers is being addressed decisively.” Lie. On June 26, Buhari himself said “There is nothing I can do to help the situation except to pray”, when he visited Plateau after herdsmen killed hundreds of Nigerians there.

“We are making progress in the fight against corruption” Lie. According to Transparency International, Nigeria is more corrupt today than 2015 and made her worst ever performance on TI’s CPI, moving 12 steps backward from 136 to 148

“There is now an enabling environment for local and foreign investment in Nigeria.” Lie. There is a capital flight out of Nigeria. Nigeria is not in this year’s top 10 highest recipients of FDI in Africa. In 2013-14 we were number One. Google it

“We are gradually strengthening the economy with a stable Naira” Lie: S & P rated Naira the worst performing currency in Africa in 2016 and one of the worst in the world in 2017. Naira is classified as a volatile and is not accepted in Europe and SA

“Our youths have been at the vanguard of the struggle” Lie. President Buhari told the Commonwealth of Nations on April 18, 2018 in London that ‘Nigerian youth are lazy, uneducated’. It was caught on video. His words then belie his words today

“I have committed myself to ensure elections are free and fair” Lie. Vote buying increased under Buhari. Police routinely declare opposition candidates wanted days to elections and the APC chairman inadvertently admitted to rigging Osun election

“At the international level, we remain a responsible and respected member of the international community” Lie. Our President is NOT respected. President Donald Trump called him “lifeless”. He is considered a joke in the international community.

“As President, I‘ll continue to work tirelessly to promote, protect and preserve what really matters: unity” Lie. Nigeria is more divided than at any time because Buhari continues to appoint mostly Northern Muslim Fulanis into sensitive positions.

Conclusion: I deal in facts. Buhari is a liar. To say he has integrity is an insult.

Kayus4real:
Former Vice - President Atiku Abubakar tells SUNDAY ABORISADE his strategies to win the 2019 presidential poll if he emerges the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party

What do you think qualifies you to be Nigeria ’s President?

Atiku Abubakar has experience in both the public and private sector . As Vice President, my support for democracy is without match . My headship of the economic management team propelled the era of privatisation which stimulated the economy to grow at 7seven per cent annually.
In the private sector , I have a track record of job creation and I had created more jobs than any other aspirant . I have the ability to see opportunities and turn them to wealth creating opportunities .
I have the ability to pool the best minds together to move the country forward and has proven that both in the public sector and my private businesses .
I am a detribalised leader who sees Nigeria as his constituency .
Atiku has a great understanding of governance ; he is a person with vision, passion , policies and political will to get things done.

How do you hope to defeat others in the primaries ?

Atiku Abubakar is the one candidate with experience across the regions , states and local governments of Nigeria ; he is not the candidate of one area or denomination. He has support across Nigeria – from youth, farmers and business people . The delegates of PDP, from across Nigeria will recognise Atiku as the one candidate who can defeat the APC and bring jobs and opportunities , unity , security and development to all of Nigerians.

Do you have faith in the PDP’s ability to conduct a free and fair primary?

Yes , I have faith ; PDP is one . We should all remember that it was a PDP government that , in 2015 , held the freest and fairest elections in Nigeria ’ s history . The PDP also understands that if it is to win in 2019 , the elections must be free and fair . So , this primary will be free and fair .

What should Nigeria expect in the election if you win the primary ?

In 2015 , Nigerians voted for change and in the last three years, they have grown increasingly distressed about the change they received – job losses, businesses closed , farmers impoverished , our people being divided more than ever before and rising insecurity . Atiku Abubakar will run a campaign across all of Nigeria that begins addressing these issues . His campaign will be like his government talking and working with the states and people of Nigeria to restructure and create jobs , wealth for farmers , and business opportunities for youths and lifting Nigerians out of poverty . The campaign will be the start of getting Nigeria working again .

YES,I believe Atiku, despite all the accusations n negative press targeted at Atiku personally I believe he has got what it takes to improve this country, except if anyone can convinced me with definite proof of his evils n not conjectures. with Atiku as candidate PDP can take Benue, Taraba,Adamawa, plateau, with Dankwanbos help Gombe, with Sarakis help kwara, with lamidos help Jigawa,PDP will battle well in Nasarawa, kaduna, kogi n garner some reasonable votes in some of the northern States, the SE&SS can easily be taken especially with a SE VP like obi or ekweremadu, with a good deal the SW will also be a fair battle ground, buhari is beatable but with unity n good strategy n I'm sure the Turaki is not unmindful of this.

Politics / Re: President Buhari Slams Elite For Allowing Nigeria Get ‘mismanaged For 16 Years’ by positivethought: 6:16pm On Sep 29, 2018
Opinionated:
President Muhammadu Buhari has slammed Nigeria’s elite for what he thinks is their complicity in the mismanagement of the country. He said this while meeting with Nigerians in diaspora in the United States. Read the press release by the presidency next…

PRESIDENT BUHARI ASSURES NIGERIANS IN DIASPORA: IF I WIN THE NEXT ELECTION, I’LL LEAVE SOME DIFFERENCE IN THAT OFFICE

President Muhammadu Buhari told Nigerians living in America that if he won the 2019 election, and he spent another four years in office, “I will leave some difference in that office.”

Meeting with the Nigerian community in the United States of America Thursday on the margins of the 73rd United Nations General Assembly in New York, the President regretted that the elite allowed Nigeria to be mismanaged for 16 years of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rule, without as much as raising a voice in consternation.

“They didn’t say a word,” President Buhari declared. “Under the PTF (Petroleum Trust Fund, of which he was Chairman), we did roads from Lagos to Abuja, to Onitsha, to Port Harcourt. Since then, the roads were not done, between 1999 and 2015, yet the elite did not say a word.

“I was called Baba Go Slow. Those who were going fast, where did they get to?

“In 1983, military officers gathered, and made me Head of State. I packed the politicians into jail, told them they were guilty until they could prove their innocence. We seized what they had looted, but after I myself was put in detention, the politicians were given back what they had looted. How many elite complained about that?

“Three times I contested elections; three times I went to court after the elections were rigged against me. No justice, but I said ‘God dey.’

“It was mainly the ordinary people that stood by me. That is why I am always conscious of them. They are my constituency. Even pregnant women on the queue would fall into labour, go to have their babies, and still come back to vote for me. I will keep doing my best for the country.”

The diaspora Nigerians, in their scores, are top flight professionals, drawn from fields like medicine, engineering, sports, the arts, investment, academia, politics, agriculture, transport, education, publishing, and many others. Most expressed the wish to come back home, and contribute to the change making a headway in Nigeria. To which the President replied:

“You are contributing to this great country (America). If you want to help back home, invest in education in your constituencies. If you educate people, they won’t then accept nonsense from anybody.”

President Buhari said the administration he leads has by and large kept faith with its three key campaign promises; to secure the country, revive the economy and fight corruption.

“I’ve tried to do my best since I came,” he stressed, adding: “Security-wise, we are better. Boko Haram still conducts cowardly attacks, but the insurgency is not the same as it used to be. They are terrorists, and have nothing to do with religion. We will continue to deal with them. Ask people in the North-east, especially in Borno State, they will tell you they can sleep with two eyes closed now.”

The parley was put together by Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Diaspora Matters, and the Nigerian professionals were drawn from different parts of the United States and Canada. Representatives of USA chapters of Nigerians in the Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) also presented awards to President Buhari in appreciation of his performance, urging him to do more.

Politics / Re: Buhari Scores 2.9 Million Votes In Kano APC Presidential Primaries by positivethought: 5:53pm On Sep 29, 2018
Buterflyle0:

President Muhammadu Buhari has scored a total of 2,931,235 votes in 44 local government areas of Kano State in the just concluded presidential primary elections of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The primaries were conducted on Friday in the 36 states of the federation and Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

The Kano returning officer of the primary election, who is the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, said he was impressed by the large turnout of voters in his Ganduje ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government area of the state.

The governor then restated his pledge to garner over 5 million votes for Mr Buhari come 2019 general election.

“With these figures of over five thousand votes from my ward, Ganduje ward of Dawakin Tofa local government, which only comes from APC card carrying members, it is indicative to the fact that our pledge of over 5 million votes to our dear President in 2019 election is tenable and realisable,” He assured

Mr Ganduje also asserted that Mr Buhari would be voted by other political party stalwarts in the 2019 presidential election.

“People should understand that when the general election comes around, apart from our APC members that would vote for the continuation of President Buhari regime, many more others who belong to other parties would join the queue,” Mr Ganduje was quoted as saying in a statement by his chief press secretary, Abba Anwar.

He noted that even those who do not belong to any political parties, but have their permanent voters card, would opt for voting for Mr Buhari

Mr Ganduje added that the conduct of direct primaries was intended to provide enabling environment for maximum political participation, adding that, “that is the reason why we are solidly behind President Muhammadu Buhari in strengthening democracy at all levels.”

The governor also expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the presidential primary election in all the 44 local government areas of the state

Gossipninja:
Ovation Magazine publisher, Dele Momodu in his weekly coulmn, 'Pendulem' wrote about the just concluded Osun State governorship election saying what transpired 'was not a Gubernatorial, but prelude to Presidential election'

In the article, Dele Momodu also said, 'let me say with every emphasis I can muster, no candidate from the core North can compete against, and defeat, Buhari simply on the basis that they come from the core North. It is practically impossible'.

I agree with Dele momodu on this but I must say the PDP made a serious mistake by denying the SW her chairmanship which would have made things a lot easier but it's never late with a clear clean n sincere approach, an Atiku or a saraki will definitely be up to the task, all the castigation n aspersions targeted at these personalities by the zombies is just a preempted move to prevent what they feared most,PDP should just get their acts together for a successful presidential primaries n then continues from there,I really wish n pray that Atiku emerged victorious, his courage is never in doubt n something tells me there would be a major paradigm shift in the NE if that happens.

“Sometimes people call me ‘Baba Go Slow.’ Those who were going fast –where did they go to?”

President "Muhammadu Buhari" says this at a meeting with Nigerians in the diaspora yesterday, in New York.

Buhari must be living in self delusion for him to think so highly of himself while castigating n denigrating everyone else, perhaps he assumes everybody is a member of his cheering zombies ready to accept any if his nonsense vituperations as if without him the country would cease to exist but he is going to be shock sooner than he expects, for a start let him be prepared to proof his honesty n integrity claims by tendering his educational credentials as required by law in contesting for the 2019 elections, then he can give his so acclaimed excellent stewardship for Nigerians to consider, imaging buhari claiming to have won the 2003,2007,2011 elections without winning in a single state outside the north!.

This result is not surprising going by the antecedents of APC,but I must say the first major mistake PDP made was to deny the SW her chairmanship,I said this hear after the PDP convention n I can still feel that PDP will still be affected by that mistake come 2019 except is she had a very transparent n successful primaries with the winner really reaching out to the SW with a very good deal, the choice of Adeleke as a candidate abinitio was bad considering his credentials it's even a shocker that PDP did so well even though its clear that APC are crooks,I'm a PDP supporter but I would only been bothered if the party had pick a credible candidate like the guy that came second to Adeleke n were robbed like this, we can't be castigating buhari n be accepting the likes of Adeleke.besides I'm even surprise that PDP did not show a very strong presence in osun during the rerun knowing what APC were prepared to do,I hope they learn their lessons n don't go into 2019 with this kind of approach.
