Every body cannot be rich enough to live in some areas to enjoy electricity. Since I left Abuja for my trip to Ibadan before valentine?j can just tell you that my plans and life has been in disarray as I have not seen electricity for 3 hours straight where as in Abuja I have it for 22 hours minimum in kubwa there.

I live in Oluyole estate and it's not like I stay in a bleeped up neighborhood and we wen pay over 25 k a month cos we have ice block machines but we have locked up the place since and given up on them.

God know who we offended in Nigeria but you dont have to be the super elite to enjoy some basic things. As I am typing this?you will think I jut had a shower and I am lieig down on a cough and it's just 10 39. Life does not have to be this stressful.

Once I raise enough cash, they don't need to tell me to move out where I know I have no choice to pay a lot of money just to enjoy basic things in places like Abuja. Is it everybody that can just leave their zones and use their one year salary to pay for one year accommodation without think of food, utilities, transport and other bills that comes along the way unforeseen

May God help Nigeria but the Gods are punishing Nigeria and that curse has been there long time.

I was wondering too o. Why the uncharacteristic silence??
Its because the people dat voted this government doesn't have the stomach to acknowledge they have made a mistake... What they expected is not what they are seeing... You know how difficult it is for a black man to acknowledge his mistakes...

The whole human race rather perish than him to acknowledge /take responsibility for his mistakes and forge ahead...

No light, queues are back at the fuelling stations, small businesses are closing down rapidly, salaries are being owed to workers, common foodstuffs are on highest prices now. Guess what? It's all cool...this was never the promise, everything thing is back to triangle one...

The Funniest thing I have seen some Nigerians believe is that the politicians have their interests at heart..including the President (whom they cut a ridiculous amount of Slacks)...They better wake up and smell the coffee..

If you voted for the President, it's cool...but it doesn't give you the right to be dumb and insensitive. It gives you the same right to critic his government wherever you know they are wrong(which is a good thing). It will be plain wicked to see a wrong move and still back it up/support it just to feel good or get a form of debate revenge. It's even worse of you are not a paid hack cos if you act this way on your own then the person needs a Shrink. Same goes to the folks that didn't vote for this government..

Until we start telling ourselves the truth...we ain't going nowhere till then..

Nigerians by default are quiet people grin suffering and smiling looking for the first person to take a step and then rain curses on that person eg " for your mind messiah of our country abi" it's not that we are quiet to me, we are not yet tired and we have alternatives like queuing for fuel etc.
Acidosis:
I'm just wondering, today marks the 4th day I've been trying to cope without electricity. Is this problem peculiar to me alone? Or are we suffering and smiling on the Social Media because we have N20 to charge phone on the streets?

Nobody cares about the impact on Businesses. Majority of the frozen food sellers in my street are lamenting as some of them have recorded monumental losses within the past 4 days.

I've personally lost about N50,000 (in directly) due to the failure of this government to admit and confront their failures.

So many business men are running at loss. Nigerians should not keep quiet. Market women, unlike, banks and large organizations do not have the money to purchase large inverters, diesel engines, etc. The few who could afford generators do not have access to petrol as most of the filling stations have shut their doors (in Lagos and Ogun). Mind you, 90% of those selling refuse to sell in Jerry cans. The implication is that a woman who has N100k worth of frozen food would rather bury her goods or fry it all for herself and family.

The big, influential and shameless men who ought to come out and speak are either scared of a fulani man or extremely 'stu.pid' to understand the plight of small business owners who survive on electricity.

I'm not a frozen food seller, but for Christ sake, these folks are Nigerian citizens who have chosen to survive in the absence of direct jobs from the government. Hence, they deserve the right to enjoy the basic amenities like electricity and fuel.

May the curse of the Lord remains in the house of the wicked.

My heart bleeds everytime I read sad stories about Nigeria, why why For God's sake why are all diz hurts and pains. Nigerians don't have access to basic social amenities, bad roads, No Clean water, No light.
You see when you reason all these three amenities not put in place people continue to suffer life, viewing life wrong direction perspective. Yes, the government are to blame for this... yet for you visit any francophone here in west Africa you will see there citizens enjoying diz, and why can't Nigerians enjoy the same.
This 21stCentury for God's sake countries are moving forward and yet here don't even have the right word to describe the hell in this country.
God have mercy.

This is the big difference between me and APC zombies because I've always opined the fact that GEJ messed up in some certain areas and the aspect of Nnaji Berth was one of it. Even tho I know that GEJ haters also shouted for the guy to be kicked out cuz of his supposed acquisition of power plant, but immediately GEJ allowed him resign, we went back fully to total blackout and even the ones that hated Nnaji were all gnashing their gworo chewing teeth and wishing he comes back.

The biggest mistake GEJ ever made in his life was not retaining Prof Berth Nnaji. Mehn that guy got some steel balls and stepped on huge political and corrupt toes.. That man is/was a hero. If I were him, I'd never ever accept any govt offer again.

Thank God for admitting that cos the removal of Nnaji finally made a lot of us gave up on GEJ, if the man was in APC, he would have been part of this Govt. The guys shouting for Nnaji's removal then were the cabal who we expect GEJ should have resisted the way PMB is resisting them in the oil sector now. That's the difference btw GEJ and PMB, PMB got balls and cannot be easily cowed like GEJ.

Funny

As of last year, IKEDC gives about 200 units of elect. at the sum of N3000.

In February 2016, N3000 was paid and we got only a meagre 85 units of elect.

That's about 75% deductions. If this massive rip off is not enough to provide electricity, then I can't help further.

I do not owe Buhari N1 from earnings, if they cannot make do with the benefits from my Electricity bills and bank charges, then they can go to hell. As regards the N50k, a penny would not be paid to the government unless of course, they are willing to provide me a job.

I think there is need for citizens to take law into their hands I swear, sometimes we gotta leave politician out of these, your bringing Buhari into this issue water down a lot of ur argument and might led to zombies saying it was your ineffective Buffon that unbundle phcn.
Its better we lock this country down abi we give them another occupy Nigeria.
Re: Day 4: Total Blackout In Nigeria. Why The Silence? by Nobody: 11:35am On Mar 10, 2016
The highly pronounced power failures across the country in the past few days may worsen following a partial system collapse that occurred on Tuesday, and the continuous drop in electricity generation due to what the government says is the vandalism of pipelines that supply gas to the power plants.
As a result, power generation dropped to 1,580.6 megawatts on Wednesday.
Data from the Nigeria Electricity System Operator as well as information from senior officials of the different electricity distribution companies confirmed that power generation plummeted massively on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The officials noted that this resulted in the reduction of the electricity load allocated to the Discos, stressing that this was why many parts of the country had been recording blackouts in the past few days.
It was learnt that the partial system collapse that occurred on Tuesday happened at the Shiroro Power Plant and dragged down electricity generation to as low as 1,233.4MW from a peak of 3,207.7MW recorded on the same day.
Data from NESO showed that by 9.48am on Wednesday, power generation was 1,580.6MW, with the Ikeja Electric getting 237.09MW; Abuja, 181.77MW; Eko, 173.87MW; Benin, 142.25MW; and Enugu, 142.25MW.
Others are Ibadan, 205.48MW; Jos, 86.93MW; Kano, 126.45MW; Kaduna, 126.45MW; Port Harcourt, 102.74MW; and Yola, 55.32MW.
One of our correspondents gathered that prior to the partial collapse of the system, the Abuja, Ikeja and Eko distribution firms were getting over 350MW each to meet the power needs of a considerable number of their customers.
In fact, it was learnt that the normal baseline allocation for the Abuja Disco was 450MW, but on Wednesday, the firm got 181.77MW around 9.48am, according to data from NESO, and this further dropped to 131.77MW by 1.25pm.
On reason for the slump in electricity generation, officials at the power arm of the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing told one of our correspondents that the same old issue of gas pipeline vandalism had continued to pose challenge to adequate electricity generation and distribution.
An official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “Gas is vital for power generation and most of the electricity being generated in Nigeria is produced by gas-fired power plants. Both the ministers of power and petroleum have often called on Nigerians to help safeguard these infrastructure, but we keep recording explosions of gas pipelines.
“Currently, repairs are ongoing on some of the ruptured pipelines and once they are completed, we believe generation will pick up again.”
Last week, the acting Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Dr. Anthony Akah, lamented the incidences of vandalism that led to the reduction in peak power generation and supply from the national grid.
Akah, who spoke in Abuja, solicited the support of members of the public and the Consumer Protection Council to collaborate with electricity service providers and security agencies in ensuring adequate protection of power installations across the country.
Similarly, the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, told journalists in Abuja on Tuesday that vandalism had been a serious challenge to not just the oil and gas sector, but also the power sector.
Meanwhile, the management of Ikeja Electric has apologised to its customers for the epileptic power supply across its network in the past three days.
The Head of Corporate Communications, Ikeja Electric, Mr. Felix Ofulue, made the apology through a statement on Wednesday.
Ofulue attributed the poor service to the ongoing activities by labour unions picketing the facilities of the company over the purported sacking of 400 workers.
He said the company’s employees were not on strike, but that they had been prevented by the protesting labour unions from gaining access to its facilities and “are, therefore, not in a position to provide any consistent service to our valued customers.”
Ofulue noted that the situation had impacted negatively on power supply as well as the purchase of recharge units because all the substations, business units and undertakings had been taken over by members of the protesting unions.
He said, “Ikeja Electric regrets all inconveniences this action may have caused its customers and appeals to all its customers to please bear with us.
“We assure our customers that the company is doing its best to normalise the situation within the shortest possible time. We thank all our customers for their patience and understanding.”
Power sector workers under the aegis of National Union of Electricity Employees and Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies had on Monday picketed the head office of the Ikeja Electric over the sacking of 400 workers of the company.
The union had issued a seven-day ultimatum to the management of the company last week Tuesday to recall the disengaged workers or face industrial action.
