op, firstly, I salute your courage and dogged determination. If you really want to come back bro. You are highly welcome back home!. Most of these people spilling trash have not even been to the airport before.. my good friend, I utterly commend your tenacity. You are a through son of the soil. If you are Igbo, - Agu Nwoke ka ibu (you are a lion!). $30k will do you to start something. I suggest you look out for cheaper states. Maybe ogun or ondo if you are youruba. You can start cocoa business, poultry or whatever your heart pleases.. Do not at all listen to nairalanders. 90% of them have probably not been through what you have seen.. Afterall, what matters is where your heart lies. Some people who have money still desire happiness.. I therefore urge you my friend to be resolute and make your descion like a man!! I know one thing for sure. If you invest wisely, you will never regret your actions. Be proud of yourself my guy.. you are a tough dude. Just before I go, I want you to know that the key to being happy is knowing that you have the power to choose what to accept and what to let go.. we your fellow countrymen are very proud of you.. welcome home my brother!!!

What a pity. It’s alright.

Broda don't mind those that are saying that you shouldn't come on, as long as you have passion for your country with your certificate and good connection you can make it big here, you might even be the change we need. This is your country, this is where you belong, if everyone develops US, who is going to develop Nigeria, please come home and lets develop our country together.

We are over-populated enough and have more than enough man-power to develop Nigeria. Even if 1000 Nigerians escape every week, the birth rate is already more than making that up.

Well, it does depend on each individual. Op seems to be someone who has a good support system back home, hence the somewhat confidence. If he/she could afford earning 2 degrees in the States, then the individual can afford a ticket back to the States if things doesn't work out as expected.
And you think people don't lie on Naira land? who in their rightful mind in the US will think .have you seen when he registered on here? Im jst commenting for others who a genuine in this situation not the craaaap OP is spilling up there, I know craap post frm a Mile away wen I spot on.

You can trek across desert to Libya

I am too educated for Libya. It’s the West or nothing. I don’t seek to leave because I am suffering. Some of us just need a sane and stable society. It’s not all people who wanna leave Nigeria that are poor.

Nothing is working. We used to love this country but now all we(youths) feel is resentment for this nation. We are working hard to come to the West. Saraki and Co can keep their rotten estate.

What skills do you have?

@ Op, just make sure you know what you are saying and what you want to do. That's a big risk and the chances of succeeding and smiling are 20-30 percent.
Nigeria is a bloody place and only the violent taketh it by force. Your 9 million naira is a small cash that when you end up being kidnapped, you might loose one hand because the 9 million wasn't enough for the kidnappers.
I can go on and on give you many reasons why the odds are slim.
You said you want to buy land and build, at the same time open one small shop as usual. Depression will just make you close down the shop.
We looking for ways to remove our spirit, soul and body from Naija and land in any country. Imagine guys working like Jackie and still earning peanut in the country called naija despite your degrees, professional certification and experience. Think twice before you make that mistake. Buy land and build and open businesses in Naija WHILE you are still living in the US o

How long are we gonna wait for Nigeria to be better when thieving politicians and fraudsters make the rest of us look lazy? The things I hear of in this country on a daily makes me wanna teleport abroad. God dey sha. Things must pure!

What skills do you have, what value can you offer in exchange for money?

@ OP sit down for US and stop looking for what is not. Nigeria is only good for the rogues in the govt, their family member,or associate.

Still no light, no security, health sector zero.

Boko haram, fulani terrorist, militant, kidnappers, ritualist, baddo boys, army robbers grin to mention few are making Nigeria the most dangerous place on earth.

How could you forget #Sars?

Greetings my fellow Nigerians. I'm facing the prospect of coming back to Nigeria after 8 years in the USA. I finished my post-graduate degree and I'm coming back with a Bsc, MBA and 2 years of work experience in the telecoms industry. I want to know from my people back home, how is the general national feeling, how they enjoy their lifestyle/quality of life and the hard-truths of what I'll be facing coming back as I've been so far removed from the national consciousness because I've been in the USA for almost a decade. I feel passion about my country and people but I need to know what too expect. So my people are you happy with life back home?
You want to be disillusioned? Better stay where you are.

Your telecoms experience is very needed in our telecoms industry..
Forget all these idle and frustrated bearers of evil news here. My 23yrs old nephew graduated 2 yrs from UNILAG in Systems Engineering. He served last year and last month, while serving as "Intern" in one bank he got a job in another Bank.
Forget the negativity here, in recession some people are getting genuinely rich and successful. Some people's recession is other people's boom.

I plan on coming back with about 30000 USD and getting myself land/property to my name, complete NYSC, see what the job market is like as well as concurrently starting a one or two provisions stores. Slowly expand on that, with the end goal to become a distributor at the national level.

Yes!....relocating to Nigeria has to take a well and carefully planned process, because it's quite difficult to start over again, if things doesn't work out as planned.
I although do know quite a few people that have relocated from the States to Nigeria and are doing just fine and if not better than they did when residing in Nigeria. They although did have a well paid job in the States, and also had better ones back home. But that's only a few percent .

That's it, you need a solid foundation b4 you relocate, cos if U rush in U will crash, your N50m will vanish jst like that.U take it in stages, the ideal age to relocate from the west is when your kids are in Uni.that way U gt nothing to worry about.

Takea leave come around after you must have gotten trusted members of your family to buy a piece of land then see how far you can erect a structure that will include a store front big enough for your supermarket and at least an apartment upstairs to live in then go back to work complete the building and make enough money to stock up and to pay a few months salary and buy a van before coming back permanently, this way you have a roof over your head and business space before coming back.

My dear 9 million will not get you a good space for rent and stock talk more of the rest be very very smart

Suffer plenty for this country give yourself a head start.

Stay where you are... The best advise ever. Send the money over to someone you trust in Nigeria like a sibling. Have him open an account.. Convert the dollars to naira and store it in that account till you come back on vacation.

Enjoy the power of dollar over naira now before we drive the territorial witches playing tinko tinko with our economic team

With the citizen statue in Nigeria, how is the government treating her citizens. Don't get my wrong you can make it anywhere in the world, but relocating back to Nigeria needs a very careful and detailed plan.
