Dunno what arrangement he plans to have going on with his wife concerning contributions, but realistically probably at least whatever amount can comfortably cover all basic living necessities month to month.

Ideally, rule of thumb is to also have about 6 months worth of your annual savings tucked up somewhere if possible.

So if you earn 300k, this means you would have 1.5M stuck up somewhere?

Also, you must have separated the expenses for Marriage ceremony, Rent for a family of two & furnitures in the house. This is excluding you owning a Car or not.

You see those teachers, they would use their 80k or 100k to build houses but those earning 500k, how many of them are living in their houses?

Even if you earn 5M per month, if your wife is empty headed with nothing sensible to contribute except bills, that 5M won't be enough for the family.

The more you earn, the higher your taste goes.

I'm just advising from my own experience Sir.

Everyone's situation is different. My dad married when he was just a teacher earning very little and he still managed to achieve a lot.

I want my family to be comfortable. By the time you take away rent, food, school fees, fuel for the generator, car maintenance, money used to assist parents/in-laws etc. you're already 50k - N100k+ out of pocket. And we're not even talking about having enough disposable income to invest and build wealth.

Thats why I said (for me), i'll feel comfortable with N500K+ per month...that's just my own humble opinion
