My boss posted on her WhatsApp story "Who will be my Val" and other series of messages concerning taking her out for Val.

I'm older than her and she respects me, deep down I really like her, I don't know if I should ask her playfully, we chat a lot. I tease her a little bit when she posts a picture that is not fine and we laugh over it.

I want to tell her if she is unsuccessful in her search for a date I can be her back up plan. I don't know if it's a good idea to tell her that. I need honest and matured opinions please.

Why not, give it a shot, if you succeed, fine, if you fail you will know you tried. Life is a risk and the worst that will happen is for you to join the job hunters next week.
However, dont present yourself as a back up plan, be a man, just ask if she can be your val. If she say yes, treat her with respect and dont fool yourself.

People get into trouble when they cannot define relationships. Only a child will confuse a boss for a romantic date!

What a foolish question from an employee. Why should you even have a crush at your workplace. It's unprofessional.
she's not the top boss, she's just my direct boss... "Keyword" jokingly ask her as a second option

No feelings? Then I think you should keep off.
JasonScoolari:
I love this reply but some folks here are making it look like a big sin to take a female boss out.... I don't have feelings for her but I feel like taking her out tomorrow.

In as much as I appreciate your courage, I will suggest you gift her a flower and an icream tomorrow morning and tell her happy valentines day and you did like to take her out after work

It's up to her to accept it or reject it

If she does, take her out treat her nicely and take her back home without misbehaving

That will give her the impression that you are not after her position or her money

Leave her to pound over the care and love you showed to her

From there, you can take up

But if she turns it down, never mind and don't get discouraged, keep trying

But you have to define the kind of relationship you want from her

The key is
don't show any form of desperation, gently and easy flow makes her dance to you

But if you just want to have a fling or hit and run

Just respect yourself and stay away from her

I meant "no romantic feelings"

Just trying to play safe so I won't come across to her like a toaster.

So, no other girl to ask out?

Leave your boss alone, because the day she sees you flirting with with another girl in the office, it is game over.
