Hi everyone.

I am new here, in fact this is going to be my first post on nairaland. Forgive me if I break any rule, I will keep it very simple.

I'm a fresh graduate, just graduated last year, was not able to go for NYSC due to my age. Simply want to ask, what are the chances of securing a job considering I am above 30.

Before I forget, I studied Business Administration (KASU) with a second class upper. Thanks everyone.

Apply to Tek-experts. You must be willing to reside in Lagos to work from their site. They do not care about how old you are. Just be smart, IT savvy, have the right attitude with good soft skills and you are on you way to enjoying a career in IT. They provide exceptional training for all staff.

Realistically, your chances are very slim. It's not your fault though. The Universities have limited spaces, jamb registers about a million each year, half of that barely makes it in.

If you are from a family that relies on minimum wage, or a struggling biz, you can't get into private universities.

So by the time to manage to cross that finish line you are in a new generation with a new trend. The new trend of graduate trainee and internship with a ceiling of 26 years for most.

Lest we talk about the poor remuneration if you are fortunate to even get a job.

No startup from the Government, NYSC doesn't add any value, no savings, no help. It can be frustrating.

At 30, you have already lived half of the life expectancy for a Nigerian.

It's a tough one Bro, failure of leadership is the reason for this. Nigeria has so much regressed.

Your solution: Grace. I know people will say those clichés "learn a skill" "start a biz" don't be deceived, I know people without skills doing fine, I also know people who work for others and earn very well.

While you need to put yourself out there, you need Grace more than anything.

The question should be, if you get a job at 30 what is your retirement age? Would you be happy with you culminative retirement pay?

If you have some money to invest in yourself, then go for ICAN and if you have more, add MBA and leave the graduate job category. Be ready to do any marketing job at least for a year to pass as work experience.

I am disappointed in nairalanders and their wicked advices. He is in his timeline and can be lifted without even doing any of the aforementioned

He can contest for the presidency of the country.

He now has a Bachelor's degree. That's all that matters.

It depend on you. You need to build capacity. There are free materials every where. You could even just buy access from some nairaland peeps that sell Lynda.com access and learn something, whether advance excel, programming, web development, data science, digital marketing, etc. Most employers are looking for people that can deliver. The problem with most graduate is that they can buy phones but cant spend 5k to develop themselves.

I graduated at 22 and went for nysc immediately but couldn't even get anything tangible till after some time though I had to be managing very very small pay jobs then cos I just can't stay idle after tasting nysc allawee grin but my classmate that graduated at 33yrs got a federal job immediately after nysc and is living fine.age has nothing to do about getting job if you have grace on you.I'm glad that you have a positive mindset towards learning a craft aside your certificate, kudos on that but I'll urge that you start immediately cos time is everything and can't be recovered when wasted.start now biko that you are still young ooo don't be tempted to stay idle for some years waiting for our yeye government,if along the line job comes while you are learning your craft then you can try it but if it doesn't come you'll follow your passion(the handwork learnt).God's grace to you and your bro

My sister Graduated and had to wait 10 years before landing a job with peanut pay. The trauma of those years without a job still has it’s effects on her. Anything you find bro, your Ultimate plan should be to Ghost this country. At your age there’s no time again. Goodluck
