when he approached her, did he force her to accept? or is he her father that has the responsibility of caring for his daughter?

Whatever a guy does for his girlfriend or girlfriend do for her boyfriend while dating is a plus to the receiver and not a must for either side to fulfill. Its no guys mandatory responsible to take care of a lady that he's not married to. He's only mandated to take care of people that's family and that includes mother, wife sisters and his in-law. Until they are married shes not his responsibility
