Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, yesterday, broke silence over the aircraft seat controversy between him and a young man, admitting that he sat on a wrong seat. Professor Wole Soyinka Soyinka’s broke silence barely five days after a young man instructed him to stand up from his allotted seat which was beside the aircraft window. While admitting taking wrong seat on board in a statement made available to Vanguard, he urged that airline management to impose fines on passengers that occupy wrong seat while on board. The Nobel laureate noted that such policy would further provide additional funds for airline operators in delivering humanitarian assistance globally. He expressed worries that while airline operators exhort passengers often to raise funds for humanitarian services, this measure could further assist them in getting more funds for these services. “I don’t know how much airlines succeed in raising for their charity drives through those envelopes they distribute to passengers into which their captive donors are exhorted to deposit their loose change before disembarking. “Such monies are then distributed to worthy causes all over the world, especially in the pursuit of health. What I am convinced of is that they would generate a hundred times more if they were more creative. “For instance, they could impose a fine on passengers who take the wrong seat on boarding, even for a second. One can only rejoice in the thought of such benefits to humanity in its efforts to eradicate all kinds of diseases, especially malnutrition, and ensure the supply of nutrients that prevent the premature onset of brain impairment. “Those who permit themselves to be persuaded, even for one second that I, Wole Soyinka, having wrongly identified a seat number like millions of travellers all the time, and all over the world, would then attempt to consolidate the error in any form, through act, word, or gesture, qualify to be the first beneficiaries of this vastly improved humanitarian policy,” he added Read more at: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2019/06/aircraft-seat-controversy-impose-a-fine-on-passengers-who-take-the-wrong-seat-soyinka/ |

By Bisi Adewale It was Dr J. Allan Petersen that said, “Sex is beautiful, delightful and necessary. God made it so; it is an expression of oneness, a total commitment, a complete self-giving and a sacred obligation. wedding ring Sex is not a right to claim selfishly, not a cavour to withhold childishly, not a weapon to dominate one another, not a reward for good behavior.” In marriage, sex is important is so important that any couple that mishandle it may end up with a terrible Marriage. Marabel Morgan The Author Total Woman (a Book that sold more than 10 Million copies) said, ‘’when Marriage hit the rock, the rock is in the Mattress’’ Married Couples should take good care of their Bedroom life, it is the Engine room of Marriage, the following are the purposes of sex in Marriage: PURITY ‘Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.’ 1 Cor. 7:2, 3. The primary reason for sex is to preserve your purity. It is the only thing that you are not allowed to get from any other person except your husband. In order for you and your husband to remain pure before God, get the best of sex from each other. PLEASURE Sex is also the gift of pleasure from God to married people. It will be totally wrong for you to say you will only do it when you need a baby. It is meant for pleasure, satisfaction and fulfillment. Get it at home and don’t look outside for it. If your spouse is not in the mood, should sex be off radar?! ‘Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love. “And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?’ Prov. 5:19, 20. PASSION It is also for sexual love called passion. This helps to strengthen marriage and make the home stronger and better. Passion is what differentiates the marriage relationship from any other human relationship. ‘A fountain of gardens, a well of living waters, and streams from Lebanon. Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits’. Song of Solomon 4:15,16. PRESERVATION OF YOUR MARRIAGE If you are both happy there will not be the need to open your bed to a third party; this will guarantee the security of your marriage. Once your home is secured, your marriage will be preserved. One of the reasons why you need to take sex seriously is to preserve your marriage. PEACE Good sex in marriage brings up passion, satisfaction, fulfillment and purity which all combine together to generate peace in marriage. One of the major causes of misunderstanding in marriage is sexual denials. When a couple gets to the level of mutual sexual satisfaction they hardly fight and easily settle their differences. When you seek to give your husband sexual satisfaction in your marriage, you have secured peace. There is nothing else that can either make a man so happy or angry in marriage. When there is a constant good performance in the bedroom the home experiences a deep peace. PROCREATION God wants us to be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth. The only way we can fulfill this is through matrimonial sex. ‘And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth’. Gen. 1:28. PARTNERSHIP Good sex in marriage helps our partnership in marriage. It aids agreement. It enhances communion. It leads to bonding and deep intimacy. It leads to togetherness, fondness and oneness at home. PROTECTION When sexual fulfillment is gotten at home, it leads to protection of couples from sexually transmitted diseases and binds them together. A marriage void of sex will easily open the man to sexual immorality and many deadly diseases. I agree perfectly with a marriage counsellor that said ‘a married man with an unfulfilled libido is a danger going somewhere to happen.’ In order to protect yourself and your husband in your marriage, you must ensure your husband is sexually satisfied. PROGRESS When couples agree, walk in purity and peace as a result of sexual fulfillment in marriage, progress is assured. It guarantees prosperity for that family. When couples open the room for sexual temptation and open the door widely for infidelity, it will affect every other part of their lives including their progress. When you allow your husband to sleep with you, in a satisfying manner, you are only calling for progress and prosperity in your home. Now that you have known the purpose of sex in marriage, you will do well to be a generous giver to your husband. Start a fulfilling romantic journey by inviting him to have a nice time with you in the bedroom, just the way you normally invite him to the dining table to come and eat. Your husband will appreciate the gesture. He will be happy to have you as his lover girl. For the rest of this article, I will be opening your eyes to all these, I will make you know the right thing to do to become an irresistible wife. By Femi Aribisala When God kills, his killing does not nullify his love. He kills to reprove and with the firm intention to redeem and renew life. The writer of Hebrews says: “It is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27). This one-time death is not in the future, but in the past. “In Adam all die.” (1 Corinthians 15:22). Therefore, the judgment that comes after death is also “in Adam” and in the past. In Adam we all died, and in Adam we were all judged. Accordingly, we are not just in danger of God’s future judgment, as Christians presume; we are already going through the judgment here on earth. Isaiah says: “When (God’s) judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.” (Isaiah 26:9). Paul also notes that: “The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.” (Romans 1:18). Life of death God’s wrath against ungodliness is evident in the life of death we have been living since Adam. It is life defined by aches and pains; tragedy and sorrow; sicknesses and diseases; and fear and torment. It is life defined by sitting in darkness, blind to the glory and majesty of the invisible God. It is a life dead to God and to his divine attributes of love, joy and peace. But thanks be to God, contrary to the position of hell-fire Christians: “men are not cast off by the Lord forever.” (Lamentations 3:31). “(God) does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in mercy.” (Micah 7:18). “His anger is but for a moment, his favour is for life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5). Instead of consigning sinners to demonic eternal torment, God says: “For a mere moment I have forsaken you, but with great mercies I will gather you. With a little wrath I hid my face from you for a moment; but with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you.” (Isaiah 54:7- . Therefore, he sent his Son Jesus to broker peace between God and men. Kingdom dynamics The psalmist says: “God has spoken once, twice I have heard this: that power belongs to God. Also to you, O Lord, belongs mercy; for you render to each one according to his work.” (Psalm 62:11-12). This is very instructive. It means if God speaks once, it is absolutely essential that we hear him twice. The first might be the expression of his power, but the second will be the expression of his mercy. God says: “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live.” (Ezekiel 33:11). Therefore, when God kills, he does not kill according to malicious men with the sole intention to destroy. When God kills, his killing does not nullify his love. He kills to reprove and with the firm intention to redeem and renew life. Thus, he says: “I, even I, am he, and there is no God besides me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal.” (Deuteronomy 32:39). If God speaks once, hear him twice: “The dream was repeated to Pharaoh twice because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.” (Genesis 41:32). If God speaks, listen to him again. Often, what he says a second time seemingly negates what he says the first time: “For God does speak- now one way, now another- though man may not perceive it.” (Job 33:14). The reason for this is that God often presents an action with a reaction. The reaction would seemingly contradict his action by providing it with sharp relief. So, while his action might display his anger and wrath; his reaction would then reveal his grace and mercy. God will surely punish sinners, but after he has punished, he will redeem. Should God say he is going to kill you, recognise that he will. But also note that after he has killed you, he will then give you new life. Thus, Job says of God: “Though he slay me, yet will I trust him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before him. He also shall be my salvation.” (Job 13:15-16). Job’s faith, like that of David, led him to conclude that God will not leave his soul in the grave.” (Psalm 16:10). Jesus confirms that the same God who takes life is the one who raises the dead back to life. (John 11:25). Salvation for all Since all sinned and died, Jesus “tasted death for every man.” (Hebrews 2:9). Thereby, he became “the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.” (1 John 2:2). As a result, 2000 years ago, we were all forgiven for our sins. The only sin that now remains is the sin of not believing in Jesus. Thus, Jesus says the work of the Holy Spirit is to: “convict the world of sin.. because they do not believe in me.” (John 16:8-9). Jesus’ salvation will go on for the ages to come. At the end of that process, everybody will be saved. God has decreed that: “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10-11). This means everybody will receive the Holy Spirit because: “no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.” (1 Corinthians 12:3). It also explains Jesus’ assertion that: “If I am lifted up above the earth, I will make everyone want to come to me.” (John 12:32). This will bring God’s prophecy to full circle: “It shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh.” (Joel 2:28). Accordingly, Paul says: “Since by man came death, by man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at his coming.” (1 Corinthians 15:21-23). shadeyinka:There's a difference between spiritual and bodily death. Spiritual death occurs when a person's spirit is cut off from it's source (God the creator). That was what took place after Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit. Remember that God had warned them that they would die the day they ate of the fruit. The death referred to in the Bible is spiritual and not the physical one everyone is bound to experience. Otherwise , what other death was God warning them about? |

By Femi Aribisala From God’s righteous perspective, the ultimate punishment that can be imposed on the sinful is death. God says: “The soul who sins shall die.” (Ezekiel 18:4). Paul reiterates this: “The wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23). But our so-called pastors contradict this by insisting: “The soul who sins shall spend eternity burning in hell-fire.” They say: “The wages of sin is eternal torment.” How can we understand this distortion of the word of God? The problem arises because our pastors don’t understand the scriptures; neither do they know the God who is love. A major blunder they make is to presume the death that results from sin is an affliction scheduled for the future. They think erroneously that when sinners die, they go to a place called hell where they are tormented in a fiery furnace for eternity. However, this Christian hell is anathema to the word of God. God’s law of sin and death does not say we are going to die as a result of our sins. It says we are already dead. Law of sin and death God warned Adam: “Of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” (Genesis 2:17). Although Adam lived for 930 years, he died the very day he disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit. For the rest of his life after this sin, Adam was a walking dead man. Let me spell out the implications here. It means, according to God, bullets don’t kill. Cancer does not kill. Nobody dies as a result of old age. The only thing that kills is sin. Once we sin, we die. That is the law of sin and death. Jesus reveals that what we mistakenly call death is no more than sleep. When Lazarus died, he said to his disciples: “Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up.” (John 11:11). He then proceeded to raise Lazarus from his sleep of death. However, the real death that afflicted Adam and his progeny is widely misunderstood by Christians. This death comes only from sin and it afflicts in the present-continuous. It ensures that the wages of sin will not be death; but that the wages of sin is death. Accordingly, all sinners currently living in the world today are dead and buried. They are walking about in grave-clothes. They are physically alive but spiritually dead. Referring to them, Jesus says: “Let the dead bury their own dead.” (Matthew 8:22). He says to the Church of Sardis: “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.” (Revelation 3:1). Paul also says: “She who lives in pleasure is dead while she lives.” (1 Timothy 5:6). On Damascus Road Let me use myself as an example. Although I am a Christian born and bred, I lived for 41 years of my life as a dead man. I was “dead in trespasses and sins.” (Ephesians 2:1). I had no hope and was without God in the world. (Ephesians 2:12). I had no peace with God and no peace of mind. I lived according to the flesh and specialised in its works. (Galatians 5:19-21). I could neither obey nor please God. But thanks be to God, Jesus changed my situation and circumstances. He did this not through the scriptures, but through my own “Damascus Road” experience during an armed-robbery attack. In that process, he quickened my mortal body and gave me newness of life. Thereby, the scripture was fulfilled in me whereby the Father of the Prodigal Son says concerning him: “This my son was dead and is alive again.” (Luke 15:24). Accordingly, Paul writes to new creatures in Christ Jesus: “And you he made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins.” (Ephesians 2:1). A true believer in Christ then is someone Jesus raised from the dead. Jesus says: “The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.” (John 5:25). From my encounter with Jesus, I became alive to God and to the things of God. The Lord opened my eyes (John 9:30) so I can now see clearly the invisible things of God. (Romans 1:20). He opened my ears to hear his voice (Psalm 40:6); and he opened my understanding that I might comprehend the scriptures. (Luke 24:45). I daresay, this is a privilege most Christians don’t seem to have. Alas, their pastors are Nicodemus; mere mortals instead of the Lord Jesus himself. Therefore, although the scripture says: “As in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:22); Christians continue to insist the wages of sin is eternal torment in (fictitious) hell. Carnal Christianity Paul writes: “To be carnally minded is death.” (Romans 8:6). He then says this carnal death afflicts even Christians: “I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ.. for you are still carnal.” (1 Corinthians 3:1-3). Carnal-mindedness prevents Christians from understanding why the wages of sin is simply death. They feel death is inadequate punishment for the sins of someone like Hitler who murdered 6 million Jews. Therefore, they substitute eternal torment for God’s penalty of death, believing that by so doing, they are more likely to discourage men from sin. However, the only penalty God has for any and every kind of sin is death; no more, no less. From God’s righteous perspective, the ultimate punishment that can be imposed on the sinful is death. The reason for this is not too difficult to understand. God is the epitome of goodness. “In (his) presence is fullness of joy; at (his) right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11). God blessed Abraham by giving himself to him. He said to him: “I am your exceedingly great reward.” (Genesis 15:1). In Canaan, he did not give any land to the priests. Instead, he told them: “I am your portion and your inheritance among the children of Israel.” (Numbers 18:20). God himself is the inheritance of today’s children of God. We are not heirs of things belonging to God: we are heirs of God. (Romans 8:17). Eternal life is not about going to a heaven with streets of gold. God himself is eternal life. (John 17:3; 1 John 5:20). We are not going to Abraham’s bosom. (Luke 16:22). We are going to the bosom of the Father. (John 1:18). Therefore, the greatest punishment God can ever impose is to cut himself off from a man. That is what real death (and not its counterfeit) brings: separation from the goodness of God. But when Christians don’t value God, they don’t regard separation from God as enough punishment for heinous venal sins. So they replace it with their own carnal and ungodly verdict: eternal torment. They fail to appreciate that the agony of Jesus on the cross did not come from the nails that pierced his body, but from his separation from God because of our sins. For the first time in eternity, the Son was separated from the Father, and the pain was too much for him to bear.
