CultureRe: Help, My Happiness Is At Stake Because Of Tribal Issues by POTUT(m): 1:31am On Oct 17, 2011
Love takes on deeper sacrifices after marriage. If you truly love your yoruba boyfriend (and vice versa), both of you will be willing to see the other's parents as yours.

On no account should you both go ahead to get married without the consent of the two sides. If you want to push it, then go on a convincing mission. At some point, they will yield to your passion. However, you have to remember that same passion in order to stay in the marriage.

Secondly, make sure it is love, because love can sometimes be the square root of sacrifice.

How can you say Okorocha is not a planner?

Below are some of his quotes, pray tell, how a man without vision could utter such:

Quote
“I make sacrifice and save cost to
save money with which I can
execute projects that will stand
the test of time and serve as a

he said.
Okorocha said that
notwithstanding the financial

administration, his target was to

of late Dr Sam Mbakwe, the
governor of old Imo.

Quote
He said the administration had
also embarked on the
revitalisation of the Ada Palm and
Avutu Poultry Farm, which had
remained moribund for more
than 25 years.

The Media is our primary problem. Every administration before Rochas claimed to have revived Ada Palm and Imo Modern Poultry.
Every new administration claims they will revive Ada Palm and Imo Modern Poultry as they assume office. What nonsensical statements are these?

The media will always report what the politicians said, not what is actually on ground. Is that journalism?

I am yet to assess Rochas, no comment on his administration for now.
CultureRe: Is The Igbo Language Dying? by POTUT(m): 11:23pm On Oct 14, 2011
Hmmm,

Igbo language is not near dying. I think this is either alarmist or a narrow view of the situation. The reality is that many Ibos who naturally engaged in aggressive trading (perhaps to make up for their stripped wealth after the civil war) adjust to their environments for patronage and as a sign of good citizenship.

Would it make sense for an Ibo trader to sell in Ibo in another man's land?

Besides, all those pseudo-ajebutter Ibos who speak english most of the time are just living on a slice of illusion. They can speak ibo (when they really have to) and they can surely understand it too (at least one of the hundreds of dialects).

If people actually play pranks with the subsidy, why aren't our journalists investigating and reporting? They seem to be our last hope for investigations because it is a private sector thing. We have lost hope in the police and navy et al.

GEJ is actually working from the back, but he stands to lose his name forever if the subsidy monies are embezzled (and I can bet they will be, and EFCC will make their usual moronic noises and shut up).

It is frightening to imagine Nigeria at 142 per litre. The effects appear so gruesome.

As usual, Nigeria only believes in fire brigade approach. This shows we lack the depth to plan and follow through. This ought to have been a gradual thing, but no, it must be now now, and everything. 100+ % action.

We need to get our country back from this bunch of criminals and gangsters that we call our government.

Otherwise , one day it could be you or I dying on a verification queue
I still marvel and reel in disbelief when people hang their complaints on existence of the PDP government. I think it shows lack of depth in understanding the problems we are facing as a nation.

It is NOT the PDP government that is the problem, but the inherent ineptitude, wickedness and malaise that the black man carries in his DNA.

How many of our politicians have changed parties since 1999 and how many times have they done that? Have you heard ANY party rejecting the application for membership of any politician? Bring ACN or CPC to power today and all the so-called PDP will swing like a heavy pendulum bob, carrying with them the same age-old malaise virus they have developed since birth, just like they brought it into PDP and effectively grew larger than the original founders (who are statesmen in all respects and have today quit the political scene in disgust)

The solution we need goes beyond the parties we see today, it goes beyond the system of things we have today and it surely goes beyond the sham constitution we operate today.

If we continue to hang on to this PDP bad-name tactics, we will never garner the momentum for revolutionary change.

I have flown chanchangi once, and only once in 2003. Apart from the accent (which occurred in about five stages, each time settling and seeming like it would descend, only to try another accent), the entire flight was smooth from PH to Lagos.

I don't think they have compromised safety in any tangible or significant way in the last decade they have been operating. I have heard and believe that their pilots are really very experienced.

They have actually recorded some violent landings (crash/belly landings), but again, the manner in which the pilots on those occasions handled the aircraft was commendable and worth praising.

I haven't flown them again since then simply because they are not just ready to take their ticketing online.

@kobojunkie,
It appears the mere mention of 'west' throws you off course. The west is mentioned here because your dear senator hinted that it is done in other (western) countries. Quoting him ,
- It is done in other countries; - "
The issue remains that Nigeria does not have strong regulating agencies to enforce our laws. The police have failed woefully in combating crime at all levels. Now you want to heap all those ones we have failed to fight into the category of legalized crimes, (what an oxymoron!), starting with prostitution. It is not right to legalize it. When we seat to look at what is obtainable today against what will be gained from legalizing it, we will see we just went an easy route to societal collapse.

Those big madams and pimps of today will become business owners to a legalized prostitution industry that will begin to reach down the ages to recruit young girls who otherwise could have done better pursuing their education and life potentials elsewhere profitable.
There are many more transformations of the exploits of today into something more sinister, time and energy will not just permit me to list them critically.

Again, (I'm so sorry to throw you yet again), the west are already deep in this and wish they had not gone this way at all, if they are honest with themselves.

Do you still have a stake in Nigeria?

Why are you proponents of this so-called regulation silent on other ills in the society. Why aren't we enthusiastic in legalizing them too.

What do you imagine was the genesis of this thought from Ekweremadu? Could it not have been his wishful concern to eradicate it? Let us take a bold step and legalize other ills too like corruption in Executive public office, as we have also found it impossible to.

The West is North America and Successful European bloc who have legalized it too and are too ashamed to disclose what it is really costing them.

Am I the only one that can discern? Prostitution has been described as a menace. You want to stop it but have failed. Now you want to issue licenses and regulate the business. What will the issuing of licenses achieve?

For one it doesn't STOP THE ACT, which was what you intended from the onset but failed to do. Isn't this like saying the best way to resist temptation is to succumb to it?

If Ekweramadu is serious in his thinking, can he also advocate the legalisation/regulation of corruption, as we have also failed to curb/stop it? Politicians should include in their manifesto their Corruption & Embezzlement Budget so that INEC & the National Council of States can weigh it against the National Budget and be sure it will not cripple the economy before such politicians are given the all clear to run for office. Perhaps he doesn't need to, as EFCC has already done that through their nonsensical plea bargain policy.

And one more thing, we have also failed to stop murders and kidnapping, so let us regulate that too. If you want to murder your neighbor or political opponent, just apply for a license and the government will give you a time window and a list of certified assassins to do the job.
When you want to kidnap, just apply and wait for the government to publish Tenders of suitable victims. You must also pay tax to the FIRS, and then declare profit after tax to the CBN.

Nigeria, please fix your police force. The fight against all forms of crime is an endless warfare in the history of humanity.

I am quite certain this man, if not foolish, does not intend to WIPE out prostitution with this. So, I think your write up above needs a closer looking into.
Will you agree that the first objective was to eradicate prostitution? And then since it was seen to be impossible, the alternative of regulating it came into focus?

Speaking during debate on a motion on the scourge of human trafficking in the country, Ekweremadu said since it has become impossible to stop prostitution in the land, the Senate should consider regulating the act in the country.

According to him "we need to regulate prostitution in this country so that if anyone wants to indulge in prostitution, the person should be registered and issued with a license. If we say we want to stop it, it would be difficult. It is done in other countries; let us regulate it by issuing license."
This premise of 'its impossible to stop it, so lets regulate it' is too broad. There are so many other ills impossible to stop. So why is this regulation only applicable to prostitution? We all agree that strong families are the basis of society, yet we attack it on other fronts with deceptive and plausible arguments of regulating prostitution.

My take is, fight it everywhere it appears, continue to create jobs for all and prostitution will naturally go down to its lowest ebbs which will be better for society in the long run.

Secondly, this is a classic case of 'To do the best, copy the west.'
PoliticsRe: Ekweremadu Asks Senate To Legalise Prostitution by POTUT(m): 10:28am On Oct 07, 2011
@Okija_juju,

You have made a frank case for legalizing it. What I did was simply to state that this is defeatist. I had actually been prone to supporting legalizing such things in the past but can now see that it is truly a form of compromise. What is to say that this form of compromise will not creep into other facets of life. My analogies do really hold water in principle.

Now answer this please, does anyone girl go into prostitution/love-peddling because they enjoy sex at a frenzy-pitch frequency or because they need to earn a living? If it is because of the former, then I fully subscribe to the legalization. However, if it is the latter, then we will have a serious problem on our hands by legalizing it.

Someone did mention one of such regulations to include using a condom and HIV/STD testing. Who will watch at the point of penetration that condoms are being used? Who will screen the customers persistently for HIV/STD before service?

I also know a lady in Saudi Arabia who was a love peddler for money, not for enjoyment. Her passport was seized by her love-vendor. Right now, one of her customers has fallen in love with her and has taken her away from the brothel/love house into his second home. She now serves as a caregiver to his ageing mother. If it wasn't for the imperative of economic emancipation, would she have fallen into this trap? She cannot come back to Nigeria because she has no passport.

Why aren't we getting creative in ways of providing alternative means of economic activity for these ladies than just succumbing to the go-easy thought of legalizing it? We know that young women are more vulnerable to join love-peddling than young boys. Have you thought about what young boys are more vulnerble to? That includes armed banditry, militancy (Niger-Dela). Should we now legalize these too? The amnesty program was creative in principle. can we not think of an 'amnesty' for the young girls that will rehabilitate them?

Not all things western are fashionable. That western governments realize billions of dollars from regulating prostitution does not automatically translate to good. Who has bothered to check the figures those governments spend in providing health insurance, rehabilitation, maintaining abortion mills, child support from unwanted pregnancies, and other vices that stem from these? We all know that one vice leads to another. There are surely other ills that are linked to prostitution.

Those who exploit these girls do so because the girls are available. If the girls were engaged in other viable economic activities, they wouldn't be available to be exploited.

Please ignore my arguments only if "there are love-peddlers who do it for the love of sex."

You're going to have pr0stitution whether its legal or not. No society has ever managed managed to wipe it out, there are pr0stitutes even in Mecca. Criminalizing it only drives it underground leading to p.imping and worse crimes like human trafficking, violence and even murder.

Legalizing prostitution means that you can regulate it. It means that you can force the customers to use condoms to remove the risk of STIs. It means you can restrict them to certain areas and stop them from becoming a public nuisance. It means that the girls will be protected from trafficking, violence and exploitation. It means that pr0stitutes can pay taxes and contribute to society. It means that they can retire and get pensions or move to other professions. Also the police can concentrate on more serious crimes rather than wasting their time chasing something they can't stop.

Legalizing prostitution is a perfectly sensible move that is presently working well in countries like Italy, Holland and parts of the US. Unfortunately the Christian talibans and the Islamic fundamentalists will never let it happen.
Nice one!
Let us legalize Murder and Kidnappings and Corruption also.

Benefits of Regulating Murder:
You can force murderers to use only designated kinds of weapons to avoid damaging certain human organs so that they can be reused in hospitals for people who need organ transplant.
You can restrict them certain neighborhoods so that the children of the rich do not see evil, hear evil.
You can protect the people who commission assassins from blackmail, violence and exploitation by the assassins themselves.
You can make assassins pay tax from the commissions they receive after every successful hit. It means that they can retire and earn a pension too.
Also, the police can concentrate on more serious crimes than wasting their time chasing something they can't stop.

Same benefits apply to all other crimes.

Hurray! Welcome to a crime free world!

PoliticsRe: EFCC Arrest Gbenga Daniel, Akala And Doma. Declares Goje wanted. by POTUT(m): 8:17am On Oct 07, 2011
The EFCC has been a little too hasty in arresting politicians. The final outcome most times gets me thinking whether they (EFCC) actually have the financial intelligence capacity to pursue ex-public office holders. When they rush to the courts with their often hearsay evidence, they are shamed into releasing the politicians. This is happening too often that I often suspect that this is deliberate.

I worked in two banks for 5 years and mastered their core banking applications to the extent that I could forensically dig into accounts with thousands of transaction entries and fish out errors and unusual entries. I saved my last bank literally millions of naira when their core banking application was doling out extreme credit interests to customers and no one knew it. Does EFCC have the intelligence to dig this much?

EFCC should be amassing evidence on a real-time basis, not sitting back and waiting 8 years until a governor leaves office before they start scattering for evidence like chicken in the sand.

I don't see any other planet inhabitable by man, not yet.

I presumed too much when I deliberately left out some details in the hope that anyone posting on this blog has some knowledge of the pieces of land in dispute and their respective historical significance.

I am talking about the West Bank, not the entire geographical space of Israel today.

Israel MUST balance any Accords or Treaties with the viability of its own sovereignty. Show me any country today that will agree to a border arrangement that leaves it about 9 miles wide in some places in a region where Arab states are vowed (tacitly or otherwise) to destroy Israel at their first opportunity.

The problem is not granting Palestine their statehood, the problem is getting Palestinians to recognize a Jewish State! This should be common sense and I think the Palestinians are just being hypocritical. You recognize Israel only during negotiations, but refuse to recognize them as Jewish State should your statehood be granted.
PoliticsRe: Palestinian Statehood Bid: Nigeria Reiterates Her Support by POTUT(m): 6:54pm On Sep 26, 2011
A Palestinian State based on 1967 borders is like asking for a Native American State based on pre-Columbus era.

What?! An empty piece of land up until the later part of the 19th century when Jews started returning from all over Europe. There were no Palestinians there. The land was territorially under Jordan. So what justifies the claim of the Palestinians to it?

Even Prophet Mohammed wrote in the Quran that the God of Heaven and Earth had given the children of Isaac all the land from Euphrates to the Nile/Mediterranean, but the so called Palestinians have conveniently chosen to ignore this.

Nigeria is not a country, its a deception, an empty space filled with the most confused black-skinned people. We have no foreign policy please.

Israel has conceded enough to the Palestinians. The onus is on the Palestinians to recognize a Jewish State, simple! Israel is willing to recognize a Palestinian one.

Attempt reading them in full (and have a true Saudi citizen interpret it for you) and you will understand Muhammed's true ambitions. Islam is nowhere near peaceful! It only preaches peace to its converts, but horrible, graphic death to anyone who disbelieves.

On the other hand, it is written in the Bible to love your enemies and pray for them.

What else is the meaning of peace?
