Plead:Hmm...time will tell. |
Since October 1st 1960, we've never had a sincere Federal Government. So I wonder whether Nigeria will ever work. I hope it does anyways. If we had a booming economy considering all the natural and human resources we have, N211 per litre for PMS wouldn't be an issue. It would be considered cheap by an average Nigerian. If a sincere govt. fixes all 4 refineries, cut down on cost of governance, end subsidy and channel the funds which would have been meant for it into infrastructure development most especially power generation and distribution; this country will transform into something better within 8 years. 2023 isn't far off. Vote wisely and resist vote buying with every thing you've got! It's not just about the offices of president, governors and law makers. Even the councillor you vote for should be a good fellow. God help us all! |
Bampeh:Same here. Love is my religion! ![]() |
sunshineV:Adherents of religion cannot truly adhere strictly to religious tenets. Human behavior has little or no room for strict adherence to religious tenets. Hence, you find that only a few people can truly be 99% religious. Moreover, if Satan can be born in heaven so to speak, don't ever expect that people who profess devotion to religion however strict their beliefs are will not misbehave every now and then. |
Emeraldgreene:My statement was in response to the 70 years promise. Of course promises of long life abound in the Bible however if you go through those verses again you will find that the word 'may' is often used which generally does not connote certainty but probability meaning the promise may not come to pass. The word 'will' is however used in Psalm 91:16 again I beg to differ because this is a song probably written by Moses and compiled by king David, it is not a direct statement by God. 1 kings 3:14-15 also uses the word will, however, it is a promise God specifically made to king Solomon not all of God's worshippers. Even though Solomon couldn't uphold the condition of strict obedience till death God in his mercy gave him long life still. Exodus 23:25-26 use the word will as well but again there's a catch. This promise was specifically made to the Israelites in the wilderness of Sinai and since God a few weeks later placed a curse of death on anyone 20 years and above with the exclusion of Joshua and Caleb( Num.14:28-34), condemning them to death in the wilderness, one can say this promise was nullified by that curse in the case of those who erred(Joshua 5:6). Nonetheless, since the wilderness journey lasted 40 years, it is reasonable to conclude that some of those isrealites (especially those within the age bracket of 35-40) would still have lived a full length of life comparable to how long people live today. So what am I saying in a nutshell? Does the bible promise length of days? Yes! Is this a certainty for some good people? Yes! Is it a certainty for all good people? No! Does living a spiritually and morally clean life pay? Yes! Does it certify longevity of life for anyone? No! We can do the best we can to be good and happy but if Covid taught me any lesson, it is that the days of a good man can be cut short too so one can only hope for the best. Rather than foreseeing who will get shot and who wouldn't, those who claim to preach the gospel should focus on helping people live good lives and not peddle death threats. Christ didn't and so his supposed disciples shouldn't. Have a pleasant day ![]() |
rexwalters:Hahaha |
Better for the money to be squandered in Delta state where it came from than for it to be squandered by FG |
hspda:Deep reflections ![]() |
The fact that there are so many religions all explaining God in different lights is enough reason to convince me that God is far from religion. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west all day everyday. If the sun is such a certainty, then the one who made it shouldn't be muddled in so much contradictions. Except of course he doesn't even want to found by over zealous peeps.lol ![]() |
gasparpisciotta:You took the words out of my mouth. Some religions like JW and Islam are down right fanatical. However, many christian based faiths have taints of fanaticism to such an extent that Daddy G.O. calls the shots even in the matrimonial homes of their followers. In my opinion, it is hard to remove the stain of fanaticism from religion and when you get married to a devout of a religion who shares contradictory views with yours, your marriage bond will crack at some point. Best to marry someone from your own religion. For the non religious like me, i will naturally settle for a non religious person too. |
Emeraldgreene:May you live long and prosper. Nonetheless, i've read the bible from cover to cover twice and God didn't make any such promise. On the contrary it was prophet Moses who sang and I quote "our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away."(Psalm 90:10) In pains Job once said "Mortals, born of woman, are of few days and full of trouble."(Job 14:1) We can only hope for the best in life, but nothing is written in stone and nothing is really promised. Yes some people may thrive in this life but too often shall we see that even the best of them are but trouble and sorrow. |
Emeraldgreene:On a cellular level everyone is moving on the path of destruction. |
Emeraldgreene:Death isn't a snare, it is a certainty. It is rather ironic that God will warn man about death when he's still gonna die anyway. This is not about frivolities, it's common sense that anyone who cannot predict outcomes as simple as match fixtures which even man can fix doesn't know sh*t. |
As far as I'm concerned if you can't predict at least 2 correct scores for any league in this world you're are a false prophet. ![]() |
slawormiir:You will find in Nigeria that the jobless are the ones who have access to real money and have all the time in this world to indulge in stupid frivolities whereas those with jobs are struggling to survive. No thanks to corrupt politics. |
titikariba:And it doesn't stop with NASS. Infact, theirs is just a tip of the ice berg. All 36 states have their own state house of assembly with law makers receiving fat pay. Governors have thousands of Aides some with SSCE receiving salaries larger than a GL-17 officer in the civil service. What about the useless ministries in the FG receiving fat allocations every month? The jobless commissions at the state level? We have a long way to go. |
samwheel:True! |
Numerouno94:Even if teachers are well paid in the US, no teacher in the US is in her level. One probably has to be a US senator or something like that to command the power and respect which equates hers. $57B no be moi moi. She's a good woman plain and simple! |
Reex12:I disagree in her case. Bezos was the one who was having affair outside marriage. Good thing for her, she resides in a country where the law protects women in such circumstances. |
EbenezerTriumph:One day in your life when you're old, frail, tired and weak you'll look into the eyes of your grand children and this conversation will cross your mind. You'll wonder whether that stranger in Nairaland all those years ago was right afterall. |
tonididdy:For me that should make relocating easier for me. Not like there's no crime in the US but Nigeria is just too unsafe for anyone who's able to save 22mill yearly after expenses. I'd advice anyone with such fortune to run away now that they're still breathing. |
Ibrahimmrfish:The average rent in the US is $1,249. The most affordable place to live in the US not minding availability of jobs is the city of Toledo in the state of Ohio and the average rent there is $550 which is over N198k per month. House rent for US no be moi moi! https://www.earnest.com/blog/how-much-does-it-cost-to-rent-in-your-city-or-state/ |
EbenezerTriumph:I made a statement not an insinuation. |
EgusiSoup:Being alive is in itself a sin. |
For those of you waiting for rapture, know this that your children's children will still come and wait for it too. |
Amotolongbo:You've said the truth. However, Nigerians are already brainwashed to put religion ahead of reason, so that will never happen and the rat race will never end. |
Jonathan88:No Nigerian who has such info will give it out. |
EgusiSoup:God made boobs so we can look at them and touch them if permitted |
blackpanda:Spot on! However, we can't continue like this. So what do we do? |
Nigeria is what it is because most of us put religion ahead of reason. |
SapphireBlue:The only way to convince a narrow minded person who refuses to believe that depression is real and can be hard to overcome is to give them a dose of it. Since that is not scientifically possible, it is best to save your energy. |
