Storing rows using nested list would have been easy...right now,i haven't think what best algorithm will be better.

I decided to use Binary Search and Sorted List, now looks good a little.

Can you give worked example of matrix multiplication output you want, because only dot product i can remember now....dont mind me oo

Its a sparse Matrix with several Zero elements. So i used a List for the elements(non zero) in the Matrix and another class to store the row number, col number and value. So the zero elements does not accupy any space in the ADT.
To Multiply two matrices, we first calculate transpose of the second matrix to simplify our comparisons and maintain the sorted order. So, the resultant matrix is obtained by traversing through the entire length of both matrices and summing the appropriate multiplied values.
Any row value equal to x in the first matrix and row value equal to y in the second matrix (transposed one) will contribute towards result[x][y]. This is obtained by multiplying all such elements having col value in both matrices and adding only those with the row as x in first matrix and row as y in the second transposed matrix to get the result[x][y].

i wrote a sparseMatrix ADT implementation. But i am trying to figure out better way to complete the __mul__ implementation. Would you be kind enough to check if there is a better way. Its a long code and works perfectly though but the time-complexity of the __mul__ implementation seems very long.

Here i have the link to the complete code on Github: https://github.com/Predstan/Algorithm-and-Data-Structure/blob/master/ch4/sparseMatrix.py

Hello House,
Are there assistantship contracts that are written for just a semester(Waiving tuition for that semester alone) ? I'd always thought it's usually for a year and renewed for the following year.

Also, are there chances of having a semester long contracts renewed for another semester. Just want to know my stand.

Thanks.

I resumed studies in Spring semester so my Assistantship was for a semester. It was renewed for the next Fall and Spring after I got a satisfactory GPA for that Spring. I hope this helps.

They told me outrightly no funding for data science. I’m even thinking of deferring the admission.

I am still holding on to Texas Tech. Hoping to get funding on campus after I register/resume.

I’m still hoping ETSU, NCAT and Oakland come through.

Data Science is a rarely funded program.

Petrobowl 2018.

So we were a group of 5 "brainies" from OAU competing for three slots in an international oil and gas competition . My school isn't petroleum affliated to any reasonable extent but pitching some geology Ultras and chemical engineering nerds gave us a good balance.

We eventually qualified for the final berth by placing third in Nigeria. It was a huge moment. Feb 17,2018.

I just finished my undergraduate studies. I was top preparing for world finals called ATCE in Dallas, Texas. It was slated for late September.

The top three schools that qualified gets an all expense paid trip sponsored by the society of petroleum engineers in Nigeria.

Just a few weeks to the event, my team got all papers ready and went straight for the interview at the embassy. Family and friends prayed. I did too. But within 3min the white woman gave a pink form containing a "blog" of reasons why my application was denied. Same for all my folks. My head dropped. I became a stupid non- believer for several weeks lol. My mini-American dream quashed. I just wanted that stamp on my passport.

That's my story. Today, I have moved on and I will soon call again. #USAorburst grin

gosh. If that happens to anyone, let them try immediately again. Just a piece from my experience

I got this information from calling the number on Grundtvig Academy website as they are one of the exam center in Nigeria. Although it is not a center for the August exam, they were involved in the March exams and should be at least"reasonably" accurate

Have you written the Exam? Last 2 years when I wrote GRE, only international passport is accepted in Nigeria. I cant say whether the rules have changed. You should be aware of the rules if you have not written it. ETS website can tell what is required

Look at this on ETS. Not exception will be made.

Different strokes for different people. Personally, I save to invest in properties and all. A good example is in Canada, if you put down a 5% deposit on a $500,000 property, you are looking at a mortgage insurance of about $20,000 on top of the principal. This protects the banks from default. However, if you put down a deposit of atleast 20%. You have saved about $20,000 already which you can add to further savings to buy more properties or invest in shares or high yield investment accounts.
After working as a credit analyst for a while, I dislike credits. It's a rip off. Unfortunately, not everyone is buoyant enough to reduce their dependency on credit facilities.

That's your personal perspective. I also save money to do things. I dont depend on credit. But the truth is that you dont need savings to live your good life.

That's the fact I'm talking about not my personal perspective nor attacking your style of living

Wow.

Your thought processes are valid though but I can see our mentalities are miles apart.

You obviously don't desire and aspire to become a billionaire or see a need to, you love a comfort zone.

It's ok, I hear you, you don't need savings, it's fine to live on debts. After owing a car and house, and can travel on credit, all your issues in life have been taken care of.

Good thinking.

Billionaires in the world didnt save money to become one. That's a very low orientation. A Nigerian American just got investors who donated 40million dollars to his business proposal. This is how Billionaires are made not by savings

Really 800 a week? I've never heard of that before.

I know about means tested welfare payments. The money is ridiculous.

Ridiculously low or high? In the USA, 800 times 4 is 3200. This payment is also to cleaners who lost their jobs, and other menial workers. Tell me what Nigeria gives you for being unemployed.
There is also child benefit of about 500dollars weekly

Here's how it works, you lose your job , you miss your mortgage payments and become homeless.

401k is a savings that you get back when you retire
Social security pays you when you retire
Unemployment benefit is $800 weekly.
How many people became homeless during 9/11 compared to the population of homeless people in Nigeria?

Again tell me what you need savings for in your savings account

Numerous but let me mention just 2:

1. Providing financial support to foundations or programs that seek to proffer solution to the challenges faced by mankind e.g Cure for COVID-19, HIV etc.

2. Visit to Mars.

Don't you think you need deep pockets for these?

Providing Financial support. Is that a dream or an aspiration. On the other hand, the taxes you pay is a contribution to such challenges.

Visit to Mars I dont understand that. If you mean travel to a different country then you are just myopic. Credit card system will allow you travel anywhere in the world and you got vacation paid for by your company. You literally dont need savings if you have a working system.
Do you know what they also call Tax return, that's some sort of savings from your earnings

In fact, the percentage of adults with less than $1,000 in savings increased slightly to 58 percent from 57 percent in 2017. The graphic below shows how much Americans have been saving over the years, beginning in 2014.May 15, 2019

58% of Americans Have Less Than $1,000 in Savings, Survey Findsfinance.yahoo.com › news ›

My assertions are partly factual and partly from experience - When I was living in the US, I knew many people who will call for help while in fact they have more money in their bank account than I did. This has happened to me, friends, other family members in the US.
Yes, living in the US, you will make more but you will also spend more. If care is not taking, you will be living pay check to pay check like the average American.
You will drive the best cars and live in a nice house all on credit and mortgage to be paid for on weekly basis. Whereas, your paddy in Nigeria has built a modest house that is PAID for, a car that is PAID for hence is able to save more than you paying on a 30 yr mortgage that might never be paid off.

What do you need savings for?? To be exploited by greedy beggars

I will agree that your points cover most of the reasons why some don't send money just to anyone.

Another one is that, people in Nigeria feel entitled and think that it's your duty to assist whenever they come up with another "school fees ", "rent" and "medical" stories.
They might have even called or reached out to you when you were even not in good financial position but they think just because you are in the US , then you.must be able to help.

I have told this to many people in the past, - a lot of people in Nigeria have more in their savings accounts than most Nigerians abroad.
A lot of Americans don't have 1000 dollars in their accounts, they live pay check to pay check.
So how can they help you with school fees when they have Bill's to pay.

There is no need to have some thousand dollars sitting in your account when you have an insurance that covers your medical bills, you drive the latest car, you live a good house. What else do you need savings for? The only thing immigrants needs savings for is to cater for people that exploit them in Nigeria

Abroad people call me every weekend asking me to send money (not bragging). Many of them are frustrated over there. They work long hours including overtime but the government takes federal, state, city, social security, medicare, medicaid and disability taxes. On top of that, when they buy biscuit, they will still take sales tax. They pay exorbitant rent; those who "own" homes are locked in a loan repayment for 30yrs of which they still have to pay annual taxes for their house. Phone bill can cost over $60 per line, cable $120, internet $80 and they still pay tax on top of it. Burger and chips with soft drink can easily cost you $16 plus tax.

Sure some folks are making over $100,000 theoretically especially healthcare workers in expensive states like California and new York, but by the time they deduct all those taxes from their check, they are left with just $40,000. Then they still have to pay more taxes on every thing they buy. That's not life. It's like a rat wheel, oscillating but not making any progress. I have a cousin who was in the same situation in America, after 10yrs working as a social worker, he returned home and we started up a business. He still regrets all the years he spent slaving away in America. Today, he travels the world on vacation and visiting places he didn't even have time to visit when he was living abroad. It's not too late for Nigerians living abroad to return home; you can make it big here with less stress and you will extend your life span.

Why do you lie shamelessly. There is no where in the world they pay 60% as income Tax.

Western media has made everything non_western evil.
We
need to sit down and look at it logically.
Nigeria has been struggling to fight BH for decade, US
has
never shown any genuine support, infact, at a time they're
were technically supporting BH by blocking every
opportunity
to access weapons. Whereas, the same US has been
building sophisticated millitary bases all over Africa with
several billions of dollars even all over islands in Africa.
In a
continent struggling to provide as basic thing as clean
water,
road, edu, etc. In term of infrastructural development, US
hasnt built anything tangible anywhere in Africa despite
her
big economy and influence.
On the other hand, China is building projects across
Africa
from electricity to train to Airport, roads, scholarships to
Africans, etc even with their own money. Let's say we
can't
pay and they take over them, who would still be using
those
infrastructure, Chinese? At least they brought them here,
so
if we can't pay back and they take over them these things
would still be in use by Africans and improve quality of
life,
just like every private business.
US/Trump that everyone is supporting call Africans all
kinds
to unprintable names, visa ban, reporting weak sides of
African nations and continuously ridiculing everything we
do.
The list is long. China hasnt done any of these yet,
western
media still find their ways into the hearts of Africans to
hate
Chinese. Sadly, enough some fake pastors joined this
brainwashed citizens.
Look at China, how many times have they tumbled
African
govt? How many nations have China invaded in Africa?
How
many times has Chinese embassy criticize our local
affairs?
Etc
New York started have underground train in 1809, that's
200yrs, they never extended such to Africa. China started
booming just 20yrs ago and they've extended everything
technology they have to us, that have improved our lives;
From phones, train, Good Airport, Naval ship, Telecom,
Roads, scholarships, etc
Africans must sitdown and think. China is not your
enemy.

The largest/Highest donor to Africa is America not China. Use your head!!! America gives us free stuff while China loan their stuff to us Africans.

During this Covid-19 alone, America has donated over 170million dollars to Africa including over 2000 Ventilators. How much has china donated

The OP's question is clear enough and its not related to having a Plan b or plan Z.

The question is, taking courses online or defering admissions? How does the question relates to Trump or a plan Z.

Hi guys....If you got Admission to TTU and intend choosing the school. check this updated info from their website: https://www.depts.ttu.edu/gradschool/admissions/covid19/index.php . I also want to ask great people here, please what will you advise? Is it either to choose Online classes for fall semester or defer my admission. Although, they said that once I defer admission, I will have to go through the process of paying application fees then it goes thru normal application process. While that of Online classes will just be that I wont be eligible for OPT ( To be eligible for OPT u must complete a full session ie Fall and Spring in person) . I think OPT should not be a big deal naa? my fear is also getting Visa even if I have started Online classes. Please kindly share your experience. Thanks.

You do not have to pay another application fee if you have to defer your application. OPT is a big deal, I will advise you not to enroll for online courses if your program is just for a year. This is because Fall 2020 will certainly be online while spring 2021 may likely be online too. However, if your program is a 2 year program, you may continue to enroll online for Fall 2020 if you are a son/daughter of a Nigerian VIP where you do not have to use MTN data to stream classes or submit assignments and you will not depend on the Nigerian PHCN.

If you have funding that you dont want to loose. Just mail the department and convince them to keep your funding for you while you defer your enrollment. Man, studying online from Nigeria will not be an easy task.
