I think I remember you, You’re slim and very young. I was on the queue and when I heard associate degree, I was telling myself they won’t give this girl, but you were so bold, vocal and so so confident that along the line I started telling myself that this girl might just get it. And you did. People at my back just said ‘wow’
Congratulations

This doesn’t sound right to me. So you dressed up to the Embassy to Point who will be given or not. Are you so jobless and purposeless?

I ignored this particular argument because in a bid to score some points you tried to shift the goal post thereby coming up with so much misinformation. I will respond to it regardless.

My argument is about how these implementations translates to benefits for the consumer of the end product. I do not disagree with the fact that the A15 is a powerful chipset, but my question is how does it translate to real life usage that makes you term it an innovation? Did you watch the Apple event? Well I guess you did that's why you keep hammering on the A15. Now let's even talk about chipsets. For everyday use and even app opening speed, the A14 does not beat the snapdragon 888 chipset. You can refer to speed test comparisons on YouTube for proof. You will realize that there is no outright winner in this regard, but my questions still remains, how does a few seconds app opening speed translate to innovation?

The A14 did not come with a 4gb ram, but rather a 6gb ram. And note that it does not beat the S21 ultra in multitasking. The powerful chipset the iPhone uses does not result in the less reliance on ram but rather the architecture of the OS itself. They make the hardware, chipset and OS for just a few of their phones hence resulting in a very optimized OS compared to Android that is open source, built on a different architecture that was not originally for phones and has to be integrated into over a thousand different phones, plus the fact that even the chipsets are made by another company except for Samsung and their Exynos which currently cannot measure up so it takes a lot of effort to make things work.

You talked about power efficiency, the A14 is not more power efficient than the snapdragon 888 and it is not the opposite of Android devices as the new iterations are also more power efficient. Do not try to rubbish the finger print biometric on the android phones. The face id on the iPhone was a big one, however when you have your nose mask on it becomes useless.

You are totally wrong about me and you are taking the argument in another direction. I am not a fan of either of them, but rather a consumer who wants more value for my money. I dumped Samsung in the past due to heat problem which of course do not happen in the iPhone and I appreciate that but also of which the competition has been able to solve that problem too. My question still remains how does these acclaimed innovations better the life of the average consumer? A few milliseconds faster in app opening speed? Innovation has to include implementation and value creation and for now the processor power thing is more about paper statistics and in no way translates to everyday use unless they come up with a way to fully implement it's usage to further benefit the average consumer. For example with the power of these machines they still lag after some minutes with very heavy games which should be a demonstration of their power.

As for the Mac OS, I agree with your point 3,4 and 5. Point 4 is about the seamless connectivity and interactions between their product line which is excellent and deserves some real credits (That is what I mean by innovation that better the lives of the average consumer) I have mentioned this in my earlier argument. The 1 and 2 are not my areas. I never argued that it was a less powerful OS, but for my kind of work and the apps I use, the Windows delivers better with ease. I will never buy a windows computer, I will rather buy the Mac and install the Windows on it because of the better hardware and somehow it seems to be smoother here than on my previous Windows Pcs thanks to Apple for bootcamp. Now that is what I call innovation that benefits the average user. I am done with this argument @seanwilliam

I will only address 2 points here. A faster processor means less RAM usage so you need not pack many Gb of RAM. RAM is a storage where operations are allocated memory. If you process this operation faster, you do not need a large storage. That’s why a 4Gb RAM on any of the recent Sammy will lag so bad with the numerous operations that’s been thrown at it. The reason Sammy is equally efficient in some cases is the fact that they have large RAM…

To reiterate this, the iPhone 13 and 13 mini has 4Gb of RAM with the A15 bionic chipset same as the 12. While the pro versions have 6GB of RAM.

Secondly, the Biometric and FaceID are a product of large excreted data. They are not a big deal to be lauded as innovation in 2021.

How does the faster processor improve the life of an average phone user? You still don't get it. Check speed tests of these phones compared to their competition and you wouldn't dare call that an innovation. A few milliseconds ahead in opening apps is that what you call an innovation lol. I think you're actually the funny one here, and guess what it goes both ways even. No one wins out rightly.

For the Macbook, windows is more productive for my kind of work compared to MacOs hence the reason why I installed it. However the solid build of the Mac is great and shines above all the windows pc's I have used in the past. It's all about what works for you and makes your life easier that's the idea. I see no reason why one should be Loyal to one brand and act blind to the disadvantages associated when you can actually enjoy the goodness of both.

Again, innovation is beyond 20gb RAm that android packs. Technical innovation is the reduction of reliance on RAM and faster processor. A15 bionic chip with 4Gb RAm is better than Samsung devices with 16Gb RAM…
There is this technical Theory that the faster the processor, the more power it consumes, but iPhone is breaking that. As they continues to doll out efficiently powerful processors, the power consumption keeps reducing which is completely opposite of an android device. If this is not innovation, I wonder what it is. Oh fingerprint on screen? That’s not new, the typical Biometric device is a screen device that captures the picture of your thumb and with deep learning we are able to classify correctly. The foldable Samsung is one the Biggest invention so Far. But a faster processor is a big innovation on its own.

I won’t blame you though, you are just a typical smartphone user who is only concerned about Camera, Fingerprint placement and Screen resolution. Those are not innovations and never an invention. What are the innovations on Laptops, and desktops? The processor like the core and Amd processor as well as the GPU processing where Nvidia is obvious winning. These are innovations, not the placement of camera or a different style of smartphones. Please grow beyond design freaks but system freak and Computing power. These devices are faster than some dedicated machines like the PlayStation…

The GPU on iPhone 13 is enough to beat the Sammy. I am a big fan of Samsung btw. So this my truth.

Modified: MacOs is always ahead of Windows. Sorry to say. Could you mention one advantage of using the windows over the MacOS. I haven’t seen. But I could tell you some technical advantages for me personally.

1. Parallel Computing and Distributed Learning; As a deep Learning Engineer and Programmer, I am majorly concerned about OS that can flexibly make my work easier. The Nvidia SLI cannot be so well integrated on Windows. While I prefer Linux for such task, MacOs could get me to do just that. But a Windows? Tofiakwa

2. Command Line: Bash and other scripting Languages. It’s completely bleeped on Windows.

3. MacOs is so easy to navigate, your files and data are secured than the Windows.

4. Integration with your smartphone is even another advantage. I can literally do my FaceTime, pick my calls and operate my phone without a third Party app unlike the Windows.

5. You can partition to own all the OS in the world. Just like what you did

Several others….

Yeah they fast but are they fully utilized?
It's not about being fast, it's about being fast and being able to use em to max instead of having em somewhat limited.

The M1 on the iPads are wasting away, waiting for devs to build apps that'll use the SoC for what it was intended for aside an overpriced media/school tablet by many...

Plus you saying that last 4 gens of the Bionic chips amongst the fatsest (and they are still), what's the point of a new one if performance across the board is literally the same/only a handful of people will notice em talk less of use the power brought about by each generation of bionics?

Besides you seeing the A15 as an innovation alone (something that's pretty standard at this point) goes to show you don't know what true innovation means.

I didn’t say it was an an innovation. Just as Apple didn’t mention it as an innovation. I said it is enough to topple any innovation to ever happen. This is the fastest processor on any smartphone in the world. A15 bionic chip is not meant for Smartphones only. I leave you to search for what this cheap can be even deployed for in the world of electronics programming…

Again, The prices of 11,12 and 13 are just as the same. So what exactly is the rant about being better

How is the faster Chipset an innovation when in reality it doesn't improve the life of the user in anyway. If you have used the 10, 11 and then the 12, then trust me you won't notice any single difference in the day to day usage including gaming.

Talk about 120hz display, talk about superfast charging, talk about Usb C and ease of file transfer, how about multi tasking? The iOS is still very much limited in performing very basic tasks a 'smart phone' should be able to perform with ease and it can get quite frustrating having used an android before.

The boxy design is a mess. But everybody is acting like it's the best thing after slice bread. You can't hold your 12 pro max for long without getting really uncomfortable due to the boxy edges. The edges of the 11 line up and it's predecessors are more natural and would give you a good and comfortable grip.

Ps: I also use the Mac but I had to install windows 10 on it for more productivity. The machines are powerful but very limited in terms of Software. So innovation for me would be more about user friendliness and ability to perform day to day tasks with ease. Thank you.

A15 bionic chip is the Fastest on any sMartphone in the world. Apple didn’t promise you innovation in the iPhone 13 but a faster processor. After all 11, 12, and 13 are the same prices. You can’t tell me Windows is more productive than MacBook lol. You are more funnier than I thought you would. I stopped using Windows in 2017 and I have been using Mac and Linux for programming, I will never use Windows.

I’m currently using the 12pro Max, and I have set up
My Apple Pay to preorder the 13proMax. No one is and no should expect any difference. Many users have not even explored the 11 to its maximum capacity so you won’t feel anything new.

Op you're absolutely right. I watched the event and was expecting something 'new' only to be disappointed in the end. The new iPhone 13 line up should have been a 12s series instead. The S21 ultra still topples it unfortunately even when it's older.

Apple should really step up their game, become more innovative and stop relying on the loyalty of their customer base to keep dishing out same phones every year.

Fingers crossed waiting to see what Samsung has to offer in the up and coming S22 ultra. In my honest opinion though I think they should all stop releasing phones every other year !

I own the 11 pro, there was no 'new' innovation in the 12, and now the 13's lack of innovation is worse. I will just hold on to my phone jeje and if money enter my hand I buy the S21 ultra to enjoy a premium phone.

A12, A13, A14, A15 Bionic Chip. These are the fastest processors ever to exist at the time they were released.

The iPhone 13 series has the A15 bionic Chip. This alone is enough to topple any innovation. It took Tesla 5 years to design their own processor for the Self driving Car and they stopped buying from NVIDIA. If you are not technical enough to know this, you know you are not in the best position to do some review

Please, i need some advise and information about visa interview dates. So I'm already in the US, and my student visa has expired. I was planning to come to Naija for Xmas, but I'm worried that I might not be able to renew my visa in the 1month period that I'll be back. I wanted to know if someone knows what interview availabilities are like. And is it possible for me to see the open days in December...like between 14dec and 14jan 2022. I really want to come this Xmas, but if I can't schedule an appointment within those 4weeks, then it wouldn't make sense coming for Xmas when I can't renew the visa to return.

I believe @Ashirioluwa made his/her point clear, selling visa is odd, even Dangote got his visa refused not quite long ago, while his aide got his own visa approved to the same event Dangote was supposed to attend, many influential people have their visas refused often even well known footballers experience it, so when you come up to tell people you sell visa, then you give the above reasons, then it sens a redder flag actually. You must be sure you're talking to novices to even bring up this form of defense. I don't know how you sell visas, but no matter how, there must be elements of wrongdoings and "illegallities". US and UK are the most wicked countries in the world.

Now they are evacuating Afghans from the Taliban ridden Afghanistan, giving them free trip to their countries without documentation, and without visa.

This shows that the US and UK has the capability and capacity of taking in a lot of people into their country, because there is enough space.

So what is the need or reason of denying Nigerians visa to go to school, people who are properly documented and have paid all necessary fees, just going for studies. You deny them out of shear pride and wickedness.

Create War in Nigeria. Ask Buhari and his Bamdit brothers to Start what they are planning so that 120million people can travel to the US undocumented… We can then hail the US once again.

cN you assure them that the patience will grant them a date before next week if they trully keep quiet??

When people are hurt and are expressing themselves, if you cant show empathy its better to keep quiet. Passing your message in a harsh way will not make you even be heard or sound wiser. Moreover they posted on a free space and didn’t mention you directly, so what’s really the problem?

The guy that travelled to abuja for an interview that got canceled can you refund the cos of his traveling? The time he spent practicing ? Or how exactly should he be hopeful, what should bring that hope? They didnt even send him a message indicating a reschedule, they just left him in the cold and you are saying “he is on his own and has no right to complain”

Why are we mean to other people? Why is it hard to be nice to our brothers? Why do we leave our own space, crosss boundaries to inflict pain on others? What’s really the problem?

Patience means rescheduling and following whatever guidelines they provided. The embassy is in Abuja and the consulate is in Lagos not NAIRALAND. If you are so sure that your aggression and your rants can solve your issues and provide you a date by next week, then take it to the embassy, display your placard and voice your aggression to them. Not here on NAIRALAND.

He was asking if he could call the US government because his Appointment was canceled and I told him to be patient and follow whatever direction they have provided. This is not the first time it’s happening and it won’t be the last time. So you either accept it with Faith or you terminate your plans of traveling to the US. I won’t respond to this anymore. The writer understands my position and I wasn’t mean to him with my first post until some of you started twisting it just to suit your narrative.

Again, NAIRALAND is not the solution.

Lol..there is no aggression here. And by the special grace of God I will never be desperate about the United States. They no reach. You’re talking about patience, I have been patient. I’m not complaining that I did not get a date. I have waited patiently since June. Finally got a date, travelled from a far distance for you to tell me it’s cancelled. Nonsense.
I don’t know about you maybe you have been conditioned to think that you can be treated anyhow just because it’s the American embassy, but definitely not me. I made plans, I have goals to meet, messing it up like that is wrong on every level no matter who is involved.

Well, you either accept the condition or you stop fucking with them. There is nothing you can do about it. You can read all the documents including SEVIS receipts, MRV receipt and the I-20. Nothing guarantees you an interview nor a visa. You can only handle it with patience.

There is a popular nairalander who got his visa after the 9th attempt. Another person’s Passport was seized and accused wrongly. They did nothing but patiently wait to resolve it. You appointment was canceled, you are not the first, and will not be the last. All you can do is to patiently wait for their decisions. I’m sorry if you think it’s aggressive but I dont mean to present it this way from the start

Hi, your comment on this issue is just so insensitive, it’s not by force to respond if you don’t know what to say. We all know it’s tough to get dates, which is due to the surge of applications the embassy is dealing with. People finally got dates, flew in from different part of Nigeria, then their appointments were canceled less than 24 hours to go, how do you expect them to feel and not come here to complain. This is a paid service. The problem wasn’t the cancellation, as the embassy reserves the right to do that, but timing and the manner with which it was done. Now those applicants are back in the pool with little hope of getting dates after all the hardwork and money spent. You sef reason am.

What’s the solution? Protest, rants and aggression. None of that but patience. So if I’m asking him/her to be patient, it is not insensitive. Coming to NAIRALAND will not solve any of those issues. There was this thread years ago where the consulate do respond to people, they closed it and moved because of aggressive rants like this.

Lol. What agreement do you have with the US and the Embassy?? Again, it is a privilege not a right; that’s why you can’t petition the decision or whatever they do to your application. All you have to do is to be patient and wait until a date creeps in for you. If it doesn’t work for you this Fall, defer your admission to next Spring.
