A young man while celebrating the return of his aged father from the hands of kidnappers - has urged Nigerians to have a rethink following some Nigerians who are calling for the release of notorious billionaire kidnapper, Evans. According to Jesse Nnaezugo Obinna, his father was released this evening after being abducted with his friend on Monday.

The Nigeria Customs Service Federal Operations Unit Zone C Owerri destroyed 4118 cartons of frozen poultry with duty paid value of N83,389,500 yesterday at the Abia/Command in Owerri.

Comptroller Amajam Bukar, the Controller Federal Operations Unit Zone C Owerri said the seizure of the poultry products which was transported in a 1X40ft container, was achieved through a tip off from an informant to operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service Federal Operations Unit Zone C Owerri. The Unit with the aid of partner security agencies including the National Agency for Food Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Nigeria Police Force, was able to secure the container and its contents and destroy it in line with government directives.

Comptroller Amajam who stressed that frozen poultry products is illegal and an import prohibition called on the public not to patronize such products which he said are harmful to human health. He also called on intending frozen poultry importers to desist and instead channel their resources to legal imports will be of benefit to the nation and to avoid loss.

He reiterated the commitment of the Service to work tirelessly to protect the economy as well as the local agriculture industry from unhealthy competition.

On hand to witness the destruction were representatives of the Nigeria Police Force, the National Agency for Food Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), the Department of State Security, National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), amongst others.

Remember the little girl identified as Khadijah Bashir who was raped when she was 6 months old by the husband of her mother’s friend in Kano state. The baby who is now 10 months old - has been discharged from the hospital in Kano where she underwent surgery.

According to the reports, the baby is now doing very well and the mother has been helped by some citizens who have raised cash for her to state up a business.

The little baby is pictured with Dr Etin - one month after being discharged from hospital.

It can be recalled that little Khadijah Bashir, was raped when she was 6 months old by the husband of her mother’s friend with his wife holding the legs of the baby as the man committed the shameless act. According to the troubled couple, they did this on the instructions of a native doctor in order for them to have children.

The suspected culprit reportedly hired 10 lawyers to defend him in court before the state government and other NGO's waded into the matter.

A 2016 female graduate of the department of Microbiology in the Faculty of biological and physical Sciences, Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri popularly known as Chizzy has passed on. The corps member who recently passed out of NYSC camp and was posted to Jos, the Plateau State before she met her untimely death - died after coming down with pneumonia.

She reportedly died immediately she was moved down to Imo state yesterday, June 20th 2017. May her soul rest in peace.

An armed robber identified simply as wee wee was shot dead after being nabbed during operation. According to reports, the Police arrested the only female robber among the six man gang as four other gang members fled.

The female criminal was identified by the Imo State commissioner of police, Chris Ezike, as Comfort Okon, 28 years from Akwa Ibom state.

The incident happened at the 7up depot in Orlu, Imo state.

According to the CP , one AK 47 rifle , a motorcycle and the sum of N193,980 were recovered from the gunmen.

Residents raised the alarm which led to an immediate response by the police. In an attempt to overpower the policemen, the hoodlums engaged them in a shootout . While one of them died , the only female robber among the gang was arrested while the other four are still at large .

According to reports, many Fulani Herdsmen were displaced as scores of cows were allegedly killed by Mambilla militia group in Sardauna local government areas, Taraba State, North eastern Nigeria, locals and officials have confirmed. The violence is said to be between the Kakas and Fulani ethnic groups.

Reports had it that the Mambilla militia and youth attack was an alleged transfer of aggression against Fulani, following arrest of a Mambilla man by security agents for alleged breach of peace.

A simultaneous outbreak of violent erupted in several villages across Sardauna Local Government Area of the State on Sunday morning which left hundreds houses burnt, cows killed, while many people injured.

Though while normalcy gradually returns in the urban towns of Gembu and Nguroje reports say that there still pockets of attacks in remote villages.

A Nigerian man who was declared dead by medical doctors in Australia and resurrected in India - has shared his ordeal. The man who was identified as John Samuel was said to have suffered from a heart related ailment which led to his death on Wednesday, June 13, by 4pm in Australia but on Thursday, June 14, the young man was said to have resurrected around 8am in India.

In a chat with Ika Weekly, Mr. Samuel Anayo Ugwute recounts his experience at the cruel hands of death, and how God saved him.

Please can we meet you?

I am Mr. Samuel Anayo Ugwute, an indigene of Ebonyi State, born and brought up in Owa-Alero Delta State.

Can you share with us your experience?

About four months ago, I was diagnosed of in ventricular center defect that is a hole within the walls of my ventricle. It is a serious cardialogical problem said to be common with infants. After several cardiological examinations which proved positive, the doctors said my heart was already condemned and the only solution was to go for a heart transplant.

The initial minor surgery carried out to cover the holes proved abortive. So, I was asked to go for an orthopedic heart transplant which cost 24 million naira including other expenses. There was no money. We wrote to the state government who assisted with a little sum. My church assisted me; friends and family contributed too, my surgeon Prof, Tamson, a consultant cardiologist who has worked in India for over 20 years before coming back to Nigeria took up my case because he said in over 200 cases he has done in cardiology, my case was different and rare. He spent huge sums of money on my case; he used his influence to attract many Heart Foundations to subsidize the cost of the operation.

The surgery was scheduled to take place 4 weeks ago, but because I could not come up with enough money for flight, and other expenses, the schedule was aborted. Unfortunately, more complications arose because I was unable to meet up after hundred days time frame of carrying an artificial heart elapsed.

Finally I gathered enough money, and I left for India on Friday, June 9, 2017, but the doctors turned me back because I was four weeks late, and there was no way I was going to survive. So my doctor through his influence contacted a friend in Australia who had a private jet, and I was flown straight to Australia in a flight which lasted for 12 hours. On getting to Australia, the doctors there said there was 80 percent chance of death, and 20 percent of survival. When I heard this I turned to my family for prayers. Before going into the theatre, I prayed to God and reminded Him of my covenant of life with Him.

Entering the theatre, I gave up the ghost as the first knives cut to get the position.

Having given up the ghost, I was told they recorded the death time as 4am of the fateful, my family was contacted and my corpse was taken back to India in another 13 hours flight; on getting back to India, my corpse was deposited in the mortuary, but after some minutes I woke up and I felt cold so I started shouting and when one of the nurses heard me, instead of coming to my rescue she ran away out of fear. My surgeon heard me and came to bring me out from the mortuary. Coming out I discovered that my whole body was covered in formalin, a preservative used on dead bodies.

At this development, my family was contacted telling them I am alive. After having a warm bath to wash off the formalin, I saw everybody dancing and rejoicing at the hospital in India, I was speechless, the only word that came out from my mouth was take me home. All through the period I was pronounced dead, all I could see were doctors on white performing a surgery on me. I ended up not having the surgery I went for, and after another round of cardiological examination, the doctors found out that there were no longer holes in my heart, everything disappeared, and that I was perfectly, okay. I kept on insisting to go home, and after my doctor in Nigeria was contacted to tell him I was perfectly okay, they took me to the airport and I boarded my flight to Lagos.

People in India were rejoicing, calling my situation a miracle. “My surgeon received me in Lagos amidst tears; he was the one who told me the news of my death had circulated. In a bid to actually confirm the report of the doctors in India, he took me into the lab for examinations, and he arrived at the same conclusion. I came back to Agbor yesterday being June 14, 2017 totally okay and fine.

I thank God, because I know He heard the prayers of my father when the surgeon told my father I was dead, he rejected the news, his faith kept me going, the prayer of my Pastors as well as that of my father, Pastor John Ugwute brought me back.

At about 8:30pm last night, while concluding a 3day Revival program in one of the newly established Assemblies of The Apostolic Church Okpako, situated along Onne F.O.T road Rivers State, Hausa boys from Trailer Park invaded the Church well armed.

They destroyed the church building, cars packed outside the church, made away with valuable church properties, chairs, speakers and other sound equipments, money among others. They left many wounded with varying degrees of machete and knife cuts, they walked on new born babies like normal floors, mothers were left in tears as they were separated from their babies, they killed one guy who was resisting them, some children's whereabout yet to be known as I speak, they pushed down one of the buildings people ran in for refuge and the wall fell on people leaving many badly injured.

One of them was caught and handed over to the Police, but no serious action taken. This is happening here in Rivers State. They promised coming back to finish the work they've started.

Tragedy occurred yesterday morning after a woman allegedly killed three children at Redeemed Christian Church at 103 Omuma road in Aba, Abia State. According to reports, the woman's car failed brake as she rammed into the kids -crushing them to death in the process. May their souls rest in peace.

A gallant police officer who was among the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) who arrested the notorious billionaire kidnapper Evans in his Magodo mansion in Lagos - has reacted in jubilation to the big capture after sustaining a minor injury in the process.

Livinus Micheal posed alongside Nigeria's crime buster, ACP Abba Kyari and other policemen after arresting the wealthy criminal in his mansion.

Below is what the officer wrote on his social media account.
