While Lagosians are lamenting due to the massive floods which hit major parts on the Lagos Island, a young man was seen using a canoe to transport himself on Ribadu road in Ikoyi area of the state yesterday. The raging floods also affected Victoria Garden City VGC, Lekki and other parts on the Island...

This is just coming after a foreigner was spotted also using a canoe to transport himself in Lekki yesterday.

PoliticsLekki Floods: Babatunde Adejare Visits Lekki Area After Hours Of Rainfall. PICS by PrettyCrystal(op): 5:10am On Jul 09, 2017
Yesterday, the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, Dr Babatunde Adejare and the EFAD (Emergency Flood Abatement Department) rescue team paid a working visit to the Lekki Peninsula axis of Lagos state due to the massive floods which hit the area.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government has appealed to residents of Lagos living in flood-prone areas to relocate in the aftermath of incessant heavy rainfall within the metropolis in order to avert loss of lives and properties.

Commissioner for the Environment, Dr. Samuel Adejare, in a statement also warned all residents in the State of the consequences of the continuous heavy rainfall being experienced in most parts of Lagos on lives and properties.

Adejare noted that rainfall was bound to disrupt normal activities as well as have an untoward effect on landed properties, roads and environment.

He implored all Lagosians to, as much as possible, stay indoors during rainfall, except it is important to their safety and livelihood.

“You are implored as much as possible to stay indoors unless it is essential to your safety and livelihood. However, we strongly advise those who live in lowland and close to water bodies to move upland,” he said.

He added that officers from the Ministry had been deployed to coastal areas and sites that were susceptible to flooding as part of efforts to protect the lives and properties of the citizens.

PoliticsYoung Man Narrates How He Was Nearly Killed Over Badoo Group Saga In Ikorodu by PrettyCrystal(op): 11:18am On Jul 07, 2017
A young man who lives in Ikorodu area of Lagos, Mr. Akinrinlade Ayodeji, has narrated how he narrowly escaped being lynched by a mob that had mistaken him for a member of the dreaded Badoo secret cult group . In a Facebook post, Ayodeji described how a simple act of going to fetch water at 7.30pm a few houses from his residence nearly cost him his life, as the residents had mistaken a jerry can of water he was carrying for engine oil, said to be one of the identifying tags of the Badoo cultists.

Read what was shared by Ayodeji on Monday, July 3;

The rate at which people are being wrongly accused and molested in this Ikorodu is becoming pathetic, one cant even walk peacefully at anything past 7pm. I got back from work at around 5:21pm, after putting off my wears i decided to take a nap on my bed, suddenly i felt into a deep sleep only to wake up at about 7:39pm, immediately i became conscious to the fact that i don't have water in my gallon.

Then i quickly decided to go get some water at a nearby tank, i was with my hands free on, i was just hearing "hey hey! what are you coming here to do at this time"?, i replied the questionnaire; "sorry sir, i am actually here to fetch some water", before i could finished explaining myself, i saw a very furious man and decided to just turn back 'jejely' to my house, before i could take three steps forward, i just felt a big and several bang on my face through the back.

At this point i was lost, wondering if the world is ending today. Immediately i saw people gathered, asking in Yoruba; "ki lo de, ki lo sele (what happened, whats going on)"? To cut the long story short, people attested that they know me, even asking the said BABA, don't you know him?

They all apologized after several slaps and molestation initially, then i just jejely carried my gallon that someone else has helped filled, obviously out of pity then walked towards my house, entered my room, put off my already tattered cloth, sat down and started imagining what just happened, hoping it was just a dream, behold! it wasn't, it was REAL 'mehn'!.

Some minutes later while i was still busy pondering on what just happened, i heard some elderly voices at my entrance, they knocked and i saw four elderly men (obviously the landlords of the area) alongside the man that ignorantly dealt with me and one of my neighbours (making six men). They all said they were sorry for the ugly incident, with the man that punished me particularly holding me tight just to show his level of SORRY state, i almost shed tears

CrimeWoman Strips Her Neighbour During Public Fight In Front Of Their Family. Photos by PrettyCrystal(op): 7:33pm On Jul 06, 2017
This is very shameful...talking about the increasing spate of how female tenants fight themselves without order in public. A video footage which is currently trending online shows two women fighting themselves publicly in front of their families in their compound.

Rather than separate the fight, the other tenants including the men - left the woman to their fate as one stripped the other off her clothes right in the presence of their children and other family members.

After minutes of watching in satisfaction, the neighbors decided to stop the half-unclad women from "killing" each other when the fight got brutal.

Unlike the people of Ahiara Catholic Diocese in Imo state, this is how the people of Ogoja diocese (Cross River state) welcomed a their Bishop-elect, Monsignor Donatus Edet Akpan, who is from another diocese and hails from Akwa Ibom state to their land as the new shepherd.

Ahiara Catholic Diocese has remained without a Bishop, more than four years after the death of its pioneer Bishop, Rt. Rev. Victor Chikwe, after the rejection of Bishop Peter Okpalaeke by some members of Ahiara Diocese, Mbaise, in Imo, who was appointed and consecrated in 2012.

Despite order from 'Above' from the Catholic helmsman, Pope Francis, some members of the Ahiara Diocese have rejected Bishop Okpaleke, of Anambra origin had been rejected since 2012 when he was posted to the Diocese of Ahiara because he was not a native of Mbaise.

Christianity EtcNigerian Journalist Cries Out After Being Banned From His Church In The US. PICS by PrettyCrystal(op): 6:03pm On Jul 02, 2017
A Nigerian veteran journalist Simon Ateba, has revealed how he was bounced and banned from his church in Maryland in the United States. According to the publisher, he was stopped from entering the church because of two articles he wrote concerning the church. Read what the journalist shared below;

It was going to be the day I would have been introduced to the congregation as a new member of my church here in the United States, the Springdale Community Church, in the state of Maryland. Instead, I was stopped at the door by two church members and instructed to turn back.

I was no longer welcomed in that church, they said, but I could be re-allowed into the church, they explained, if I wrote a retraction to two articles I had published about the church.. They asked me if I was investigating the church and mentioned that they were uncomfortable when I mentioned money in my articles.

Besides, they added, I did not get express permission from the church leadership before releasing my articles. Not getting that permission from the church and going ahead to publish my articles was, according to them, “very disrespectful”.

In addition, they added, there were many negative things written about me on the Internet, my arrest in Cameroon while doing an investigative report on Nigerian refugees there.

That happened in 2015 when I was arrested by security forces and accused of being a spy for Boko Haram terrorists, the ruthless terror group that kidnapped the Chibok girls in April 2014. I had received a grant from Ford Foundation here in the United States to do that story and I was arrested and false accused of being a spy. The story was so false that my arrest triggered outrage and protests in Nigeria and Cameroon. I was released after days in detention in atrocious inhuman conditions.

Many human rights organisations in the world, including Amnesty International, fought hard for my release. And when I was released, I granted about 50 interviews to television and radio stations as well as newspapers. A documentary was even done about my incident by a church in Lagos.

I had also been battered by some pastors in Lagos for taking a picture of the church for an article that I was writing. The assault against me triggered outrage that I was on the cover of one of Nigeria’s most credible and reliable newspapers, The Punch.

In the course of my work and life, I have gone through severe pain, like when I was attacked by pirates on the Gulf of Guinea and an Ak47 rifle was placed on my head. There was also an article written about it.

But the church said all these incidents showed that I represented a danger to the church and coupled with my two articles, I was no longer welcome in their church, the Springdale Community Church.

Almost all the incidents they were referring to were well documented. My life has been in the public domain for many years. In addition, they said I was running scams and pointed to an article a blogger had written that said “Is Simon Ateba a stylish beggar?“. It was a blog post made by someone in Nigeria about a Facebook post I had made sarcastically calling on readers to contribute to sustain online journalism, where articles are read for free and the writers who have to travel to cover story are left struggling to survive.

Even today, I can reiterate that journalism is in danger and if the world takes it so seriously, it should not be allowed to die. We must encourage those who do a great job with our words and resources, and if anyone would like to contribute to the great job I am doing, I would welcome it with gladness, and without any sense of shame.

The two articles that I had published about the church here in the United States were not even unflattering to the church. They narrated my first days at Springdale Community Church since I began going there in May 2017.

I fell heartbroken being in front of the church but unable to attend service. I was so close, but so far at the same time. From where I was stopped, by the door, I could hear fellow Christians inside the church praising Jesus Christ with holy songs. I really wanted to attend today’s church service, especially because I was going to be introduced to the church to become a member. It was, I must say, heartbreaking.

I fell heartbroken also when one of the men who stopped me, Mr. W. Murray, a fire investigator with the Prince George’s County in Maryland, told me if I googled his name, I would realise that he had never been arrested as I was while doing my job as a journalist.

I fell embarrassed and so unfairly and ungodly treated by fellow Christians that I have decided not to attend any other African American church here in the United States. I always joke about race, because to me race is a joke, but when you’re so painfully rejected by people of the same color, maybe it’s time to try elsewhere.

I found my ban from the African American church in the state of Maryland today a total atrocity in the eyes of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ did not establish his church for perfect men and women, but for those who are broken. He said he came for sinners and not for saints, for the saints are not part of this world. The church is like a hospital where people come with their challenges expecting to get help. But when a church becomes so intolerant, questions are raised about whether Jesus Christ really lives there.

The action taken by the Springdale Community Church is shameful and should be condemned by all Christians.
