A suspected criminal was lynched and burnt to death around Edim Otop area in Calabar, Cross River state. The suspected hoodlum was attacked by an angry mob who dealt with him in a gruesome manner after he was caught during operation earlier today.

This is the second mob attack which happened today in Edim Otop street of Calabar after a gang of four which went from door to door robbing people of their belongings - was caught by angry youths in the area. An excited barrister has shared his experience after his encounter with kidnappers while traveling from Jos to Abuja on Tuesday. Read what he shared below;

Yesterday I was en route Jos from Abuja for a matter I have in the Federal High Court this morning, I encountered armed robbers/assasins/kidnappers who immediately opened fire on our vehicle somewhere after Barde, Southern Kaduna at about 6:40 pm.

Initially I thought I was in a trance or dreaming. No this looked like a movie scene, until I saw a 'SUPERMAN' heavily armed to the teeth standing right in the front of our vehicle with others positioned at strategic points in the road firing shots sporadically left, right, center and even behind us with AK47 rifles. All of them had guns and sophisticated ammunition.

Our driver immediately alerted everyone in the car to keep our heads down and then continued on a very high speed despite the shots that were being fired at us.

All of a sudden, we saw the Mercedes ML SUV that was in our front stopped, several bullets were pumped into the chest of the innocent driver at close range. He had been shot and he died at the spot while the oga in the car was kidnapped and taken to the bush.

I didn't know when I said my last prayer (God did not permit it to be my last) expecting the worst then a bullet pierced right through the door beside where I sat and went straight under the chair to hit me in the buttocks.

I bled profusely as my boxers was already soaked in my blood until we finally escaped their sight.

Our driver was not hit by the bullet miraculously, we drove for about a few miles until we got to somewhere safe and then approached the nearest police station, Jagindi Police Station to make a report of the incident and get police clearance in order to be able to treat myself of the bullet wounds.

I had to endure the wounds for more than an hour before we arrived Jos town, as there were no healthcare facility available on the road side.

In fact, I would have not been able to post this story if not for God. I saw dead people and several others who were injured and dispossessed of their valuables.

I cannot thank God enough for miraculously saving me from this incident.

Here I am alive this morning already robed and sitting in Court for the business of the day.

If you ever need a reason to believe there is a God. I am a living proof!!!

A massive fire engulfed a residential high-rise building in London on Wednesday, leaving at least 74 people injured and 12 dead. The London Fire Brigade dispatched at least 40 fire engines, 20 ambulance crews and more than 200 firefighters in an effort to battle the conflagration, at the 24-story Grenfell Tower in West London.

A Nigerian woman (pictured) said she woke up to find the fire and got her grandson out. She said no one came to her aid. No one raised an alarm.

The fire brigade spokesperson confirmed she had never seen that kind of fire in her entire career. The Fire Brigade is being criticized for being slow in its response.

Authorities said they are monitoring the stability of the charred structure, but that firefighters have managed to search "most" of the building for remaining people.

The Metropolitan Police Service confirmed the rising death toll at a press conference on Wednesday.

Imo State Police commissioner, Chris Okey Ezike has derived insinuations in the social media that the families of the slain policemen who died at the armed robbery attack at Zenith Bank Wetheral Road have been abandoned saying the Nigeria Police still look at the slain officers as herves of the force.

In a press briefing at the Imo State Police headquarters in Owerri, CP Ezike said all the entitlements of the slain police officers of the February 22, 2017 robbery attack will be paid, saying many organizations and well meaning Nigerians have identified with the police force and families of the affected slain officers.

The police Boss recalled that, the incident went viral and gained public attention early June immediately the 2.58 minutes Closed Circuit Television Camera (CCTV) footage video which captured the moments of the robbery, was released to the public. However, he averred that, a total of three police officers were involved, while Sergeant Sunday Agbo and Sergeant Chukwudi Iboko died a day after following gunshots injuries they sustained during the attack, but another officer, Sergeant Muran Otu Attang, lost one of his eyes and equally sustained gunshots injuries but alive.

The Imo State CP, Ezike, described the slain cops as heroes who would never be forgotten. According to him, the Inspector General of Police have taken a keen interest on the case which went viral, saying the IGP have instructed that all the entitlement of the slain officers must be paid and the officer who sustained bullet injuries be given adequate medical attention.

He recalled Nigeria Police Force is a Federal government agency governed by laws, rules and regulations in all matters, including financial matters, stating that the rights, entitlements, benefits and even privileges of these our own officers shall be fully paid, and on time. The two deceased officers were recommended for posthumous promotion, while the survivor officer greatly injured was also recommended for a promotion to the next rank.

He confirmed to media houses present that the Zenith Bank has pledged to bankroll the education of the slain officers children at every level, including giving monthly allowance to the families. He emphasized that the bank took care of the burial expenses of the victims. Also the bank pledged to take responsibility and the bill for full medical treatment of the survivor officer, Sergeant Muran Otu Attang who will be going for skull surgery.

He used the occasion to thank the coming to the aid of the force and family of late Sergeant Iboko by a Nigerian leaving abroad, Mr. John Ekweanuo, the founder and president of Sparvi Charity foundation worldwide who sent the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500, 000.00) through a blogger, Mr IfeanyiCy Njoku to be handed over to the late officers wife, Mrs Rose Iboko. According to Mr John popularly known as SKJ, the founder of Sparvi Charity foundation, he said that he was touched after watching the bravery displayed by the late Police officer, and decided to support his family by making the sum available.

Meanwhile, CP Ezike confirmed the arrest of three of the armed robbers, Justice Ogbonna alia J. J, Abiye Charles and Okechukwu Nwaebo alias Modestus while another member is still at large. He thanked good spirited individuals, Organisations and Nigerians who have shown understanding in the issue and their support.

A woman identified as Shila Hamukale has been jailed for 21 days and fined by the Monze Magistrate Court in Zambia. Hamukale, 24, of Freedom B compound in Monze district was apprehended on 8th June, 2017 for indecent exposure.

The Monze Magistrate court jailed the outspoken woman for 21 days and slapped her with a fine of K12 after she was found guilty of "Idling and disorderliness."

Hamukale appeared in a video which went viral on social media pleading for the release of incarcerated opposition leader and UPND president Hakainde Hichilema.

In the 41 seconds video which was shot at Monze bus station, Hamukale is seen bouncing around unclad while demanding that Hichilema be released.

Donning a camouflage cap and khaki bumshot, Hamukale warns that if Hichilema is not released, she will UnCloth so that President Edgar Lungu sees her plea.

A 5-year-old girl was allegedly raped in a kindergarten in Awka, Anambra State. According to lawyer Emeka Ugwuonye, the owners of the school where the shameful act occurred are trying to bury the case by settling the family of the victim with money. Read the full details below;

DPA has just stopped an attempt to bury the case of the rape of a 5-year old girl in kindergarten in Awka, Anambra State.

Yesterday, DPA got involved in the investigation of a rape case involving a 5-year old girl. We got the wind that the father of the girl was offered 100k by the owners of the kindergarten where the incident occurred in order for him to bury the case. I warned the man not to accept the money, but to work with DPA to ensure the arrest of the rapist.

At the same time, DPA dispatched a team of investigators to the crime scene. Our investigators swooped in on them as they were exchanging money to cover up the case. They even wrote up an agreement to close the case . DPA operatives took pictures of their illegal agreement and pictures of them exchanging money.

We shall now be seeking the arrest and prosecution of all those involved in this macabre deal. We have the picture of the girl and her father and the owner of the kindergarten handing over money to him.

DPA is going to crack down on all those who harm innocent children in this country. The rape of a 5- year old and the use of money to cover it up are crimes we must fight against. I will be heading from Abuja straight to Anambra State where I intend to meet with the Governor over this case.

A man got more than what he bargained for after deciding to mess with the wife of a police officer. According to an online report, the man allegedly slapped the woman who was ridding a bike begging him to make way for her to while jogging. Rather than heed to her plea, the man allegedly slapped the woman.

A lady identified as Mrs Ifeyinwa Udeh of Ugboezeji Abakpa Nike Enugu state, died on the 2nd of June, 2017. According to Coal City Connect, the deceased with her lover, Joel Ugwu, also of Abakpa in Enugu state, had allegedly checked into a hotel located around Nowas Junction of Transekulu. Shortly after, she allegedly, fell ill and became unconscious and was rushed to St Leo’s hospital, at about 11:15 pm, but was declared dead on arrival.

In an interview with CCC (Coal City Connect), the lover, Ugwu, who is now helping the police in their investigations, revealed that they had comfortably checked into the hotel, but later, Udeh started complaining of ill health.He added that she took a bottle of malt drink and bottled water which he bought for her. He further disclosed that following the development, she collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. .

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue of the Parklane specialist hospital Enugu for autopsy, which will assist the police in their investigation.According to CCC, recovered from the scene of the incident at the hotel room, were remains of some tablets/capsules and other likely evidential materials which will aid operatives in their investigations.

Pope Francis has intervened in an ethnic crisis involving the Nigerian town of , Imo state , whose bishop, Peter Ebere Okpaleke, appointed by Benedict XVI in 2012, is unwanted by lay people and priests of the diocese. Though Okpaleke is an Igbo from Anambra State, the Catholic leaders in Ahiara rejected him because he is not an Igbo man from Mbaise.

The Vatican Insider said the pope received on Wednesday a delegation from the Diocese of Ahiara, accompanied by Archbishop of Abuja and apostolic administrator of Ahiara, Cardinal John O. Onaiyekan.

Others at the meeting were Metropolitan Archbishop of Owerri, Monsignor Anthony Obinna, Archbishop of Jos and President of the Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, Monsignor Ignatius Kaigama, and the Bishop of Ahiara, Bishop Okpaleke.

Priests Clement O. Ebii, Jude N. Uwalaka, Uhuegbu Innocent Olekamma, Sister Bernadette O. Ezeyi and Stanley Pius Iwu, chief of the staff were also part of the delegation.

After a pilgrimage to the tombs of the Apostles Peter and Paul and a visit to the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, the Nigerian delegation attended the Pope’s private Mass celebration.

The delegation had previously met with Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Fernando Filoni, and the superiors of the same dicastery, with whom the Church’s situation in Ahiara was widely examined.

Pope Francis spoke of the inadmissibility of the situation in Ahiara and reserved to take the appropriate measures.

He said he was entrusting the Diocese of Ahiara to the motherly care of Mary.”

It was Benedict XVI who appointed Monsignor Okpaleke in 2012, only to meet a storm of opposition by the leaders and congregation. He was not even allowed to hold mass in the church.

His predecessor, late Victor Adibe Chikwe, came from Mbaise and was accepted by the worshippers, because he was son of the soil.

Pope Francis appointed John O. Onaiyekan apostolic administrator since July 2013. But the crisis has lingered.

Since Okpaleke’s appointment in 2012, the priests and Catholic faithful from Mbaise had insisted they wanted a Bishop of Mbaise extraction.

Nonetheless, Okpaleke was ordained a Bishop on May 21, 2013 in Owerri, the mother Diocese to Ahiara Diocese.

Congratulations are in order for British-Born Nigerian, Chinyelu "Chi" Onwurah who won first seat of the night at Newcastle Central. Newcastle has become the first general election constituency to declare, with Labour's candidate Chi Onwurah holding the seat.

It beat Houghton and Sunderland South, which has been the fastest to declare for the past six elections.

Newcastle Central declared at 11pm, just an hour after polling stations closed.

Labour's candidate Onwurah won 24,071 votes, comfortably beating the Tory candidate Steve Kyte who had 9,134 votes.

Nick Cott, the Liberal Democrat candidate, secured 1,812 votes and David Muat, the Ukip candidate, won 1,482 votes. The Green candidate Peter Thomson won 595 votes.

'Snake Pastor’ Makes U-turn, Claims He Was Tricked By TB Joshua In Nigeria

After seeking deliverance from prophet T.B Joshua, Controversial Penuel Mnguni of End Times Disciples Ministries a.k.a 'snake pastor' has made a U-turn since his appearance on Emmanuel TV on Sunday. Mnguni visited TB Joshua’s Synagogue Church of all Nations in Nigeria on Sunday, and explained why he had fed his congregants live snakes. Mnguni, who described himself as an “overseer” of his church, said he had misinterpreted the Bible, and did what he thought was scriptural at the time.

It was after watching TB Joshua on TV that he realised what he was doing was wrong. He said he went to Nigeria to seek deliverance from the prophet.

Now he has come out saying he had to say all of that because he feared for his safety in Nigeria.

He told Daily Sun he did not know he would be “forced” to speak in front of people. Mnguni claimed he was invited to the church, and only went there for “worship” and not deliverance, but was shocked when on arrival, “those people” took his passport and ID and threatened not to give them back unless he did whatever they wanted.

“It was as if everything was planned before I even got there. If you listen to the video, I am not the one saying those words. There is a woman next to me who is forcefully telling me what to say,” Daily Sun quoted him as saying.

While watching and listening to the video, a woman's voice can be heard telling the pastor what to say in front of the congregation.....
