By all standards Obasanjo was the rogue and that explains why the generality of the Yoruba nation rejected him at the polls and till today I give kudos to Yorubas for voting so much based on principles. Only a person who didn't want a clean breakaway from the ugly past anchored on the near four decade destructive military rule would even contemplate voting for a morally burdened Obasanjo in preference for the Olu Falae who had an unblemished personality and sterling performance record in the public service. But I was disappointed in Yorubas when some of them later suddenly changed tune and, in the typical Nigerian ethnic sentiments, became fans of Obasanjo.
