You are not technically alone kemi.
Some good thinking and hardworking youths, who work legit are with you on this...

Majority of them that have problems with sars are yahoo boys and kidnappers who cant actually defend their source of income. grin

As a scientist I have no business with politics but I have to join because people must start coming out.
We need protest against our politicians, against national assembly earning fat salaries, against bad roads, against nepotism, against poor minimum wage, quota system, against unitary federalism as a system of govt.

That is what we need. There are lecturers who sleep with female students by force. That doesnt mean that we dont have good lecturers. There are bad sars officers, it doesnt mean we dont have good ones.

Typical Nigerian doesnt want to obey law but embrace sharp practices. That is why many keep having issues with security men.
Morever, police brutality is even worse in the usa. Pls, we need better things to protest about, like upgrade of our universities and ASUU strike grin

Why should #EndSARS be much more taken serious than the fuel and electricity hike, NASS and CJN humongous budget if not that most youths are into frauds.

do not end SARS, reform it. ONLY criminals want it scraped completely.

Quote me and show you're among the fraudster
Im so glad someone is still reasoning here o. The same thing I have been wondering why end sars is serious than ASUU that has been on strike, politicians earning way too much while Nigerian workers earn little. Why end sars is more important than bad roads, one seaport, and the list goes on!

SARS has bad eggs, yes, the force should find a way to punish officers who act inappropriately, that is better becus sars is still useful to us. Nigeria is already security prone.

U wan them to scrap SARS but keep all d officers in the police dept and form another unit with same rogue officers. How can this make any sense to anybody.
I will support a disband the whole police force (if it was possible) over #endsars.
Ok assuming they disband Sars and all officers are back to normal police duties how will that change mentality of a cop that thinks owning an iPhone is a crime
bro, u said it all, many Nigerians are not intelligent at all. Lol, we move by sentiment a lot. If I be police IG, I will just change the name from SARS to something else.

if you ban sars now, then create a fresh agency where it's functions are defined specifically for criminals it was intended for.

Cybercriminals are not their concern but efcc own that is where the problem is coming from.

They have added cybercriminals to their job description and as such can size anybody up to their screwed assessment without a warrant, formal report or evidence.

They won't have a problem if their job is defined like it was before.

If you don't ban the terminology called sars they would keep clashing it up just because of extortion
Listen to ur self again bro.. This time, calm down.

SARS was designed for armed robbery. No one added cybercrime to them. They added it by them selves. So, when u ban sars and create a new name, and still have Nigerian men and women inside the new name, they will still go after the areas that bring them more money! That is the simple truth. Except maybe u want to recruit non Nigerians.

And even if u create a new unit, who are the people that will work there? Majority of them will still be sars men. It is like expecting a PDP member to change becus he moved to APC or expecting APC to change becus the person moved to pdp.

It is like PDP changing her name to something else while as the members are still the same people who have been ruling us with no changes grin

Nigerians, majority dont think. The issue of sars: quick fix: they have been banned from road searches and phone searches and all that. That is great!

They have been banned from patrol! That is great! Can u remember when efcc was so rampant picking up boys up and down? People still complained bitterly!
Then allow only efcc and ICPC to handle cyper crime. Funny enough, efcc still make use of police for all these!

The truth of the matter is that Naija matter is complex. We need first ensure that these officers are well paid to enable them reduce bribe instead of paying our politicians who are useless to us with huge allowances, we should take care of our force men. All of them should be well paid and properly equipped.

And lastly, we need to find a way to reduce fraud pls. These days, people even advertise their internet fraud services online, even on this forum. U hear people selling tools used by G boys to scam. Scam has become a way of life accepted by Nigerians. Shame! This matter of sars complex and needs to be fixed from the root. Banning sars completely, and reassign the same officers to another unit will do nothing! The same officers will still be doing what they were doing!

We need to ensure that any security officer including solders who violet the profession should be punished and made public the punishment. That is the way forward.

SARS is not the whole police. A better tactical way would rise to curb robbery. Stop the foolish cimparism
As usual, throwing insults up and down! Now, let me educate u a bit. Seems u are mentally unfit.

If u ban SARS, the officers who work in SARS will be used to form another unit! Is it SARS that is the problem or the humans? This is why Nigerians keep voting PDP and APC becus Nigerians, majority dont reason outside names. SARS is just a name. It can be banned and names another name with officers who were part of sars still there. Has that changed anything? No!

Bro, u ended up insulting ur self sey na me u dey insult! Except maybe u ban sars and sack all the police officers who worked with sars. U and I know that is not possible! They cant sack them all! So wake up!

The best is a proper means to punish officers who violet their professional terms.

Lecturers sleep with female students to pass them, does that mean we should sack all lecturers? No, we need to device a means to punish those who do that. Simple!

All this is coming because we can't speak with one voice in this country (maybe cos we aren't victim yet).

This particular narrative that ending sars would increase crime is the narrative that was gifted to the police by some coward youth themselves.

The police is currently fitting excuses so as to come up with a worthless reform on paper like the one given to naira marley

Our myopic youths fail to realize that nothing about Nigeria reform is done moderately, if it is bad it becomes extremely bad.

Tomorrow nobody would be taken serious if they complain again because the so called reform has taken effect

We should realize that this sars issue is a massive killing/control tool of youths in the south, killings and provocation by sars isn't happening in the north which is soaked with banditry, armunition, drugs, and the same cyber crime.

Efcc should be the ones investigating cyber crimes and they do so after "report and evidence".

I don't support hardened criminals, the police should deploy an effective means but must end sars because it can't control it nor restrict it after all the extortion sars have been exposed to.

I can conclude that just like osinbajo gave a weightless reform of sars the last time, it would be the same again because the same victims are clamouring for "sars reform" that would never work
Oga, sars cant be banned. It is like banning our military becus some soldiers molest and kill innocent citizens. It is not possible to ban a tactical squad such as sars except provision for another is made.

The best thing is always punishing the officers who misbehave. Simple. Even in the USA, police brutality is well known and up till now, it has not stopped.

Bro, didnt u hear me say this: they should allow EFCC to do the job of the fraud tracking? Yes, SARS became more of a menace among young people becus of these fraud that has become a norm here. So, the police need find a better way to stop those sars from using the yahoo system to loot money. It is that! U cant abolish sars becus Nigeria is already a terrible country with too much of hardcore crimes. U cant abolish sars! There is a sars unit in this my side. The people relate with the sars guys a lot, they are loved, the unit is close to market and big companies and banks. This unit over the years have really done great jobs in tackling criminals, crazy criminals. The unit is way popular and highly respected. So, u cant close down a unit like sars becus of those useless ones who steal from the units.

In fact, the police wont even close sars. It is like closing the military becus some soldiers maltreat Nigerians. Not possible! Never! What we need to demand as a Nation is a better way to deal with officers found wanting. That is a reasonable demand! Nigeria that is already full of hardcore crime wants to abolish sars. lol!

Scrap Sars### let them return to barracks or sambisa..
Lol, I get ur point. They can't return to barracks becus they are paid to fight armed robbers and such crimes. If they return to barracks who will now do the jobs? They will be getting paid for free?

Remember this whole sars menace wasn't like this before until yahoo yahoo became almost an acceptable job among our youths.

Sars is still deadly in cracking hardcore criminals. Nigeria is extremely a dangerous place already and we don't even have enough security men not to talk of abolishing a unit like this that has recorded massive success in cracking deadly armed men.

What we need do is ensure only efcc handles yahoo boys and make sure Sars faces armed crimes as they were designed.

What u are saying is like saying we should abolish the police force completely. Not possible bro. While I wish Sars return to facing armed robbers and kidnappers like they were designed to, I also want efcc to deal heartless to any yahoo boy or girl. They are also spoiling our names both home and away.

Should we now constantly ask friends and families to provide private security ofcourse paid for by you.. the annoying part is u will feel trapped and restrained.. can we just be free?? It’s bad I have been promising my kids I will take them but God knows I’m only stalling.. I don’t want this bloodsucking extortionists to kill me in front my kids or even kidnap us upon seeing a presume young man with beautiful mixed kids.. they might immediately smell a legal illegal heist with national backing..

I want to be able to be working and send my kids to granny and I will be rest assured I won’t be called for ransom or to come and identify remains and pay for funerals..

The irony of all this is.. no one has monopoly for violence..

I grew up in Nigeria and I understand how ingenious we can be we have a lot of craftsmanship either good or bad.. primal instinct is always intact hence our charismatic and sagacious nature..the middle class which the Nigerian state has systematically displaced down with their unpopular policies and poverty have joined in the torture being the diet the less privileged had be on since 1960 will soon join the struggle to Get Nigeria working again ..

They forgot that almost in all rural villages u have one or more blacksmith that doubles for a gun maker.. by the time these men and women u are killing their breadwinner children hustling in the city go back to making arms or even lead a revolution by arming people against ur insensitivity and reckless abandon for ur oath of office it will be blood in blood out and the only witness to the murders will not even be present...#Food4thoughts#
But in America, police kill blacks often too. What we need here is not to end Sars. If u end Sars. Those officers will be posted to other units. What we need is strong institutions that punish people when they do bad.

So many things are wrong with Nigeria. We need strong institutions that will identify true fraudstars and punish them accordingly.

Take for instance, many international agencies don't allow Nigerians in Nigeria to use their platform for business. Those of us who work online will arrest to this. The reason many websites are blocking Nigerians is due to fraud. I have been denied many contracts online from abroad agencies once they discover that I am a Nigerian. But not all of us are fraudsters na. So what we need is strong institutions that handle issues without bias becus of a truth, naija is dangerous, from kidnappers to armed robbers to internet fraudsters to political criminals, etc. So, Sars is still very much needed. What we need is a way, a better way to deal with security men who do things not needed of them. Simple!

If SARS is abolished today, the same officers will be redeployed to other units and we will still experience them. It is like PDP member moving to APC or APC moving to PDP. The problem is not the institution or name, it is the people.

So, we need protest to change our constitution and improve how we recruit people into our agencies to be more credible without quota system or nepotism.

I wonder the type of brains they actually have. Southern nigeria is slave to north. It is our collective sweat in the south that the north uses to feed her teeming population. Out tax, our competitiveness, our resources, etc. Chaii.

You have hit all the right notes. In fact, everything you have said is correct. Nigeria has failed. You are also right not to blame any specific leader because there have been failures every step of the way. What we have is a huge vested interest that uses poverty as a means of controlling the populace. Mind you we cannot talk these people (and they span politics, religion, entertainment, business and education) into leaving peacefully or even changing the rules of a game they are winning as the cries for restructuring try to do.

Our only weapon is to delegitimize them. To deny them what they crave the most; popularity and fame. What we need is a "Delegitpol" movement. If the papers refuse to carry their news, we do not vote or salute them in the streets, give them the best places when they attend events or give them the mic in churches and mosques - we will cowe and defeat them. These are guys with massive inferiority complexes who need others to be worse than themselves in order for them to feel special.

Of course some people will suffer if they take such a stand - the journalists taking brown envelopes and the people who enjoy "dash" but they are in the minority.

Next time we see these characters don't boo them, don't even frown. Just ignore. The dice will fall on the peoples side.

The problem is that no matter how big northern population is, they will be fed by resources from the south and tax coming mainly from the south. The whole system is fraudulent to southern nigeria.

And the worse part is that we all will share from the problems coming as a result of population boom.
