lastpage: This is "Wisdom", l identify with it.
I still visit the area l grew-up as a kid (we have a family house there and my 'portion' still dey there ).
I still "blend" with the guys we grew-up together, some of them are doing well, some are plain gangsters and 'drugist' but l mingle with them like we are still 15years of age! I respect them, they respect me.

It paid-off one day, when some "newbie crook" in the area hatched a plan with his goons, to come and rob my family.
"The Boyz" simply told him to forget the idea, they told him 'The bobo na "part" of us'!

I was informed and they brought him to me eventually, to come and 'apologize' for even thinking about it (and as 'Alaye Boyz' now, you got to part with some cool cash! ..to liven-up the atmosphere ).
I even misplaced my phone in my area, ... they saw it and brought it back to me (l "bailed it" back, even though Police says "bail" is free!)

I feel more secure in my childhood 'hood', than anywhere else in the world.
I know them, they know me, inside out.
I dont form big-man with them, l come down to their level.
I still play footie with them and occasionally, l just buy footie-boots + balls and distribute to my homeboyz.
Those sitting in "Lion-base" get their indian-hemp paid for,...on the house!
I dont drink at all but l breeze-into their beer parlour and buy drinks, stay with them for like 45mins (we argue over nothing sensible) ...and l am off.

Breeds comradeship and they would do anything for me. I dont keep excessive late-nights but if l have to drive around at 3am, OPC/Vigilantee know my Vehicle and its all "Bruus, stop going around at this time, welcome back, anything for your Boyz"?

automaticcarzz: It is not easy the way you are looking at it. I have two very young kids between the ages of 4 and 5. Their mother is not a Nigerian and she knows everything about kidnapping and Boko Haram. I have NTA Plus here and she sees everything. So, how do I tell her about visiting Nigeria when she knows about situation in Nigeria? I am building a house in Nigeria and she knows nothing about it.

automaticcarzz: I have not even seen my Nigerian passports since 2005. I will need a Nigerian visa if I decide to visit. I visited for two weeks in December 2005 when I got a land. It is just not conducive enough to be viisiting with all these kidnappings, robberies, and so on. I always have my parents to come over. I love to come back but there is nothing positive going on in Nigeria I can point to. I have NTA Plus here and I just shake my head each time I tune to the channel.

automaticcarzz: I have been living in the U.S since year 2001. I will be returning home when there is 24hr power supply. When there is good road network. When police are able to respond to calls within 5 minutes. When there is emergency health and fire response squad that respond to emergency within 5 minutes. When there is rule and order. spyder880: Yes you are right, N220k for the building and N170k for the whole roof works. It is cheap because I did not draw any building plan, I sat down on the site one day and drew the plans with my hands and asked my boys to start digging it. I will start building N1m houses for sale very soon.

House plus land N3.5m in a developing area where land cost is around N2m. We are just starting.

jites: So thats where we are at right now, bought all the window frames today, will fit them first and later on we will put the aluminium sliding window. After following your thread and advice for a long time, I finally started my project as if I had 25 year experience in building , , also thanks to Prince_Onx and others for their insight, funny jokes and simplified grammar in getting builders to get straight to the point hahaha , here are pics of how far we have gone so far.

Rossikk: Use your brain. Those were just Nigerians, a foreign minority. You can then imagine the statistics for the indigenes of those places.

Rossikk: I've seen all sorts abroad having lived there for decades. I've seen trailers drive with no lights at all talk less of one light. I've seen them parked in the middle of the road with their drunken drivers asleep, or off to get a coffee. You need to abandon your mental servitude to the west. There is nothing special about them.

Rossikk: What about just last week that a young Nigerian teen was stabbed to death in London after an altercation with a group of English folks? The month before that, another Nigerian kid was murdered on the streets of London just minding his own business. Have the heavens fallen? In America a few weeks ago, a Nigerian shop owner was murdered by guys looking to rob him. But all those places are still very safe in your slaveboy eyes because you are thick.

Dede1: You tried to paint a picture spurred by the patriotism you have for your country. No place on earth can be said to be safe or unsafe. There are crimes of difference shades and forms all over the world. However, there are prevailing culture and necessity that trail certain criminal environments on earth. I have stayed in Oakland, Chicago, Bronx, South-east, DC, Laredo, Detroit and Mexicali. Nigeria used to be one of safest place on earth but it has changed lately.

In the places mentioned above, the citizens, at least, have the right to protect themselves because law abiding individuals have right to purchase and bear guns. The issues of policing seemed to be better in USA than Mexico or Nigeria. In Nigeria, law abiding citizens are at the mercy of criminals, corrupt police, army, government officials and being denied the ability to self-protection. The first law of nature is self-preservation. In Nigeria, such law does not exist.

It is most dangerous when a person travels at night in Nigeria not because of armed robbers, which is a major issue, but Nigerians who have no regard for the safety of other roads users. I had to travel from the airport at Port Harcourt to Owerre between 11PM to 12PM. It is unbelievable to watch big trucks and trailers running on the road with “touch lights” and apparently no brake or tail lights. The roads are death straps too.

Rossikk: Please spare us the dishonour of visiting Nigeria again with your satanic self. Kindly stay away. You won't be missed. By the way, hundreds of thousands must have died on that road you claim was filled with burnt and rolled over tankers, correct? Animal.
