TVC Host In Tears As She Apologises To Husband Nigerian TV show host Morayo Afolabi-Brown on Friday broke down in tears as she apologised to her husband over her controversial comments on child abuse. The famous presenter rendered the apology in an emotional moment captured live during a daily television show “Your View.” The TVC presenter had on Wednesday, Dec. 5, made the comments that even though she trusts her husband so much, she will never take chances of allowing him to bathe their daughter. As seen on TVC’s verified Twitter handle, she said: “I absolutely trust my husband but I won’t take chances and have him bathe my daughter, because whether we like it or not, there is something flying in the air these days that is encouraging imbalance and immoralities.” She added, “I actually trust my husband but I’m just being careful because people that have experienced this kind of situation, also trusted their husbands and yet, it happened.” Followung th statement, on Thursday, Morayo took to her Instagram where she responded to clarify things after her stance on preventing child abuse and set things straight. She had said: “My husband is not a pedophile, he’s a highly responsible, decent man. He can never do anything to hurt any of his children.” However, due to the derogatory suspicious statement about her husband, while speaking on live television during her morning show, the presenter who has been trailed with criticisms and bashings on social media, broke down in tears and apologized to her husband. She said, “The last 24 hours have been tougher than I expected, my sincere apologies to my husband for the backlash. I love, trust and respect you! It was an error and I’m really sorry! It was not my intention. I love, trust and respect you. It was a slip. “I have learnt my lessons. You do not deserve all the horrible things people have said about you. I’m doing this on TV and I would do it again.” On the Twitter handle of TVC, on whose channel her show airs, she said, “The last 24 hours have been tougher than I expected, my sincere apologies to my husband, I love, trust and respect you! Ambode Concedes Defeat In Lagos APC Primary Oct 3, 2018 | APC Today, our great party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) had her primary elections in Lagos state, it was a keen contest between myself and my competitor, Mr Jide Sanwo-olu. As usual in any political competition, especially one where all contestants are ably skilled and qualified, the contest was filled with intrigues and strategies of innumerable moves and counter moves. It was a contest of competitors, not a battle of enemies. Members of our Party have spoken, they have said loud and clear that at this time, Sanwo-olu is the person they want to represent us all in the forth coming general elections in 2019. This brings to an end the primary elections. We now have to fuse together as one, to forge ahead in unity of purpose to ensure that our state does not fall into the hands of the other parties whose stock in trade is corruption and/or incompetence. I would follow in the tradition of our party, and footstep of my great predecessor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, who despite not having his way during the 2015 primaries, still went ahead to give me his 100% support. I would also be at the fore front in the support of my erudite brother, Babajide Sanwo-olu. I am hereby directing that all Ambode support group structures be collapsed into the Sanwo-olu structure, which i believe would in time also be collapsed into the overall APC campaign structure. I thank the people of Lagos State for giving me the opportunity to have led in the past 4 years. There have been lessons learnt and insights gained. I thank the party leaders both at state and federal level, especially Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President Muhammadu buhari for their leadership roles in the party. Because "Eko o baje" , that was why "itesiwaju Eko je wa logun", now let's all go out there as one inseparable broom and "Sanwo Eko". Akinwunmi Ambode Governor Lagos state |
By John Silas A man that prepares dinner for people to eat, is definitely deserving of a taste. When I read comments like, ” it is humiliating for Ambode to be treated by Tinubu”, it now ponders on me how definitely the percentage of ignorance in our state. Few years back, I wondered if the media was not totally bought to cover all Ambode’s atrocities and evils. I can boldly say that, Ambode as APC candidate for second term, will be the end of APC in Lagos without a bet. Reasons: First year of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s tenure was totally filled with settlement cases by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, termination of almost all projects and contracts by the previous administration. The previous administration dimmed it fit to bring in tecnocracts and proffessionals of high caliber ranking in the banking industry and cooperate world to the civil service. Upon Ambode’s resumption he demoted all of them, ge claimed they never started from the scratch and brought those from Level 15 to Level 13, somewhere even dismissed. To name a few of terminated projects; The Renal and Cardiac Center, Gbagada was actually crippled, because Ambode refused to play the part Lagos State signed. The Ilubirin housing project was terminated from the builder, who got the house on merit. Lekki Ikoyi toll gate was also terminated. Sometimes, when I hear Light Lagos, I wonder what Lagos is Ambode talking about, because I can remember the previous administration lighted Lagos, even though there was no electricity, the big generators were placed at the junctions. Immediately Ambode resumed office, instead of providing more mass transit, I see people queuing at the bus stops for hours because the red buses could not go through the BRT lane and banned them. He terminated the contracts and crippled the buisness. Ambode, on housing till date, all previous buildings that were not completed before the previous administration handed over, i can testify that till date everything has become abandoned project. This could define for him as a decision maker but, the greatest is the most pathetic of it, that no contractor of the previous administration has been paid till date and some are in debt with the banks, they have appealed severally to him, He the Emperor, has refused to do anything about it. The schools project on education also remains abandoned and payment are also yet to be made, nothing like continuity, nothing like completion. The Lagos State had its Agricultural Project and one of the major part was the Rice Eko Rice, on his resumption to office he relabeled it Lake Rice. He scrapped all the agencies that were functioning to full capacity, after two years he started renaming the agencies and turned the proposed site for the agencies to hotel and recreation site, claiming he is doing it for civil service. Today, I can boldly testify that three and a half years, nothing has happened to the health centre. He cannot boast of any primary health centre or general hospital. All the policies that was set up to cater for the Aged, to be treated freely has been withdrawn from the hospital. If he says he’s for the poor, why can’t he not cater for the poor. Governor Ambode, has not paid any of the previous administration Contractors till date. Many of them are in court. I can testify that many C of Os were revoked by him and lands were confiscated for no just reason. I am also aware that a Commissioner has no budget allocation or cannot sign 100,000 Naira, a Permanent Secretary cannot sign 50,000 Naira. There is no due process on contracts. I remember how we used to see contracts adverts during the previous admin and buy contract books to know what is available. Ever since he resumed office, no one knows what goes out. He has turned the civil service to a fearful environment where everybody is careful of what they say or what they do, so that their appointment are not terminated. They even go as far as calling him the EMPEROR, to my utmost surprise, he is comfortable with it. He talks down on them like his help at home. Over 150,000 PSP workers were jobless, because he used his Veto Power to bring in Vision Scape without considering how many would be denied employment. Like i said earlier on, this is beyond Tinubu, Governor Ambode has stepped on several toes, citizens, party members. He has held up many people’s funds, terminated many people’s appointment and contract. He has not for once, showed empathy on this issue. He believed he was Excellency and do so be it. In conclusion, as I ask, are all these people going to stand up with their families going to be denied their legal rights or are all these project that have been abandoned not visible to Lagosians or the Health Sector that value has not been added to ignorant to people, please let Ambode eat his vindictiveness and learn for the future. |

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed his readiness to return to the classroom if offered such opportunity, especially at the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt. Jonathan disclosed this yesterday while speaking at the 35th and 36th combined convocation ceremony of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt where he was conferred with “Icon of Democracy” award. The former president, who left office in 2015, expressed gratitude to the institution for the honour done to him. He said: “I want to specially thank the Senate of the University for considering my family worthy of double honours, to wit: the conferment of the honour of Icon of Democracy on me and the naming of the new Automated University Library after my wife, Dame Patience Jonathan. “I always attach so much importance to any recognition coming from home because I strongly believe that no prize commands higher value than the one given by the beneficiary’s direct constituency.” Jonathan stated that the visit is like homecoming for him, as a former lecturer in the Rivers State College of Education, which was upgraded to a full-fledged university. The former president said: “Let me also say that I had good job satisfaction here, compared to all the other places I have worked. I know that the only major challenge academic staff face is with the reward system, considering the fact that as a nation, we are yet to get to the point where we pay our teachers the wages they deserve. “However, for all the hindrances teachers face, they derive a fulfilling experience and satisfaction from the special relationship they cultivate with their students. This is because bringing up the young ones is very rewarding in a very distinct manner. The bond, friendship and sense of loyalty are eternal. “Even today, the way my former students regard and relate with me is different from the way my fellow politicians relate with me, even those I mentored.” Visitor to the university and Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, announced the release of N500million to the management of the institution for expansion of key facilities. He said: “For us therefore, providing quality education for our people is an absolute necessity as nothing can be more important. “That was why we have and will continue to prioritise the provision of quality education for our children and adults alike to acquire the knowledge and skills that they need to succeed and contribute to our collective progress.” The governor stated that at the tertiary level, his administration would continue to expand both access and quality with the progressive injection of more resources for the provision of relevant learning resources and infrastructure. Wike said: “Here in this university, we recently released the sum of N200, 000,000.00 as capital grant for fiscal year 2017 and we are happy with the qualitative deployment of this money by the vice chancellor to meet the infrastructure needs of this university. “We are also pleased with the progressive increase in enrolment being experienced by the university in recent times, which shows a growing confidence in the quality and relevance of the progammes of the university. “These unparalleled achievements clearly testify to the fact that the university is fulfilling its mandate of producing quality teaching and administrative manpower to drive the educational needs of the state and our nation.” |
