Mr.Rafiu Tajudeen of Department of Computer Science.. weldone sir. are you on the Mini Campus or Main Campus? |
please any one who has successfully done his or her schedule stage should signify. so as to keep us rest assured. thanks |
rex-rule:thanks rex-rule. I thought as much too cos ETC(the company in charge of the CBT ) is a separate firm on its own that would have to register candidates who have successfully paid into their database before scheduling can be done. I successfully paid for my sis last night, so by tonight or tomorrow am gonna try to get the exams date n time. To all applicants, please be very careful with unilorin post-utme registration, any little mistake can get u off the race. If a page is taking too much time to load or respond, please do not refresh, have PATIENCE. it is better you close a page that brings an error message than to refresh. And also be security-conscious about the mastercard or varv card details. with those details, money can be transfered from the account. so please do no give it out to strangers. Any page that confirms any completed process or stage completed, please print the page for sake of genuine proof. though, the most important pages that you must print are the : the acknowledgement slip and the scheduling page. ALL THE BEST |
JAVA Programming Language is a language that makes it easier to model real life problems. Java programming involves the use of onject-oriented-programming methodology. this is a style of programming where problems are broken into objects just like real life objects. for example, if u wanna write a prog in Java to move a car, after listing out ur components such as tyre, steering, engine, all theses things can be represented and translated into java language as individual object. then each of them is arranged into classes based on their functions. their functions are specified by what is called method. Java is very interesting because it is OOP(OBJECT ORIENTED PROGRAMMING) other languages which are not OOP are Procedural Programming Languages. getting to know the concepts behind everything is always advisable, so read about OOP and get someone to explain to you(or post your problems here), you will be happy |
Ola2much: my prb was diffrnt after inputing my receipt number on the scheduling menu no change occur the server just stood still.okay. ur receipt number? the page never asked for receipt number only Jamb reg no.or is it after inputting the reg no that one would have to input receipt no or what. |
Ola2much: My registration was successful at a trial bt havin prb wit scheduling.has any1 be able to do this?same here with my younger sister reg. the message displayed was: "We are unable to locate your record at this time and so scheduling cannot be completed. Please ensure that the information you provided is correct." are we facing the same problem? please reply asap |
akwunmi: ibeg ooo felo niaja frds, yes, unilorin requires that all payments be done through mastercard or interswitch ATM cards just as it is stated here: http://www.unilorin.edu.ng/index.php/unilorin-news/2028-20122013-pre-admissions-screening-exercise |
Am always excited when topics of computer science theory like this are discussed. One of the many things NIIT or APTECH will not teach you. thanks omo to dun, for letting them know it is one of the stages involved in creating a compiler. in addition, automata generally are used to model systems and they only accept regular languages. NFA and DFA is simply a language but unlike natural languages, they fall under what is called formal/regular language. the regular expression you use in validating fields in .net and php, is an xtension of automata. they are also used in turing machines. It is always difficult to explain to |

Its not the issue of holding back knowledge, It's a thing of getting things right, and setting standards. Nobody is condemning anybody or under-estimating one; what we are making clear is the fact that 'people that go to technical schools(aptech and d rest) do not study computer science and as such do not possess the qualities and knowledge of computer scientists and such they cannot be referred to as computer scientists probably, u should have understood better if i had said the curriculum in the '8 months institutes' should be reviewed to reflect basic pre-requisite knowledge. But doing this will only amount to studying a 4 year computer science program in a university..I hope u get this. and For your information, only graduates can be called Computer Scientists. Its quite a pity that this field has not really carved a niche for itself in our dear nation..it involves theories, research, and creativity. this is what this generation will make happen. |
lekside, u are right but probably the poster wants to hear from those that have actually passed through a university and recommend such school considering facilities, man power, records and d rest. |
this has been interesting all through..both sides have been heard but all for the sake of improving the computer science field. Just as many guys have said computer science is more than just a discipline , its a world on its own. when we are discussing computer science we should not make our conclusions based on "Nigerian Computer science" instead we should see the course naturally as it is in other places around the world. the Nigeria computer science is not in order and that is why we are here deliberating on what to do. NL1960 and other guys advocating for the superiority of university education of computer science, you are totally right. but please lets spend more time and intellectual resource in charting a way forward. If i must tell you the truth, these 8 month guyz would never listen. just as I have said in my first post that "they refused to bow for graduates". It is now our own responsibility to prove them wrong by action. the problem is this: at the first place, ssce holder should never be allowed to take programming courses or any advanced course in NIIT or any other place. There should be per-requisites before these courses would be offered. do they have the knowledge of maths like logic, advanced matrix, series and sequences, statistical distributions.A programmer that doesn't know first-in-first-out, strongly typed and loosely typed languages, compiler construction, regular expressions, binary search, genetic algorithm and the rest |
Thumbs Up |

Fishing house to house ? I still don't understand the boko haram saga.. every political minded person would ponder about this.. |
Its a year now and we are still on the struggle.. we are still hustling to attain success. Jah bless da hustle. Our heads are still up high. we shall conquer. it starts with you and I |
@stupor... u made a very significant point..i salute ur intelligence and philosophy |
CLARIFICATION: you all putting the blames on programmers as regards how far we have gone in learning. you must understand that guru programmers were formerly newbies and later moved from one level to another. so I think currently Nigeria has got good programmers who are ready to work on big project and invent new things. After all, the topic is centered on how we create an enabling environment which will create a better future for Nigerian Programmers. no matter how sub-standard we are as you think, we need a way forward. we need an upgrade in the programming industry in Nigeria.we need a future. young programmers should be enthusiastic about being a world-class programmer and inventor. Having a body such as that initiated by handyx on this forum is a god step. |
Presently, real programmers, I mean raw code writers here in Nigeria are deprived of their entitlements financially and socially. No standards, no opportunities, no enabling environments, unending discrimination from companies that hire Indian programmers. Although, threads have been created on how to brand programmers but that would only bring a temporary solution and for only those who has the resources to step up their business. we need a permanent change; an atmosphere for current and future programmers. a vision of a time when people would be creative and willing to give to the society by providing e-solutions. when will Nigerians be part of list of inventors. we are talented. How can this be achieved. I believe by combining ideas from experienced programmers, home and abroad, and successful programmers, we can make something out of nothing. #from my perspective, I think there should be focus on programming in the ministry if sci and tech, by this programmers will have platforms to receive kudos for their works.# |
yes it is. i hope u are ready for the journey.. if not, prepare your mind first..its not interesting at the beginning.. SUCCESS!!! |
goon: It depends on the aspect of IT you intend to go into, If it is Programming/Web Development, Get books and read. goon: It depends on the aspect of IT you intend to go into, If it is Programming/Web Development, Get books and read. Not enough..90% is ocvered. an inevitable 10% of the work is getting constant practical resource by your side.. |
strictly object-oriented..java .NET, and #newbie# OO-PHP,,$echo me oh yeah |
@poster, do u still need it...pls reply asap thnx |
Thats it...It is not that Nigerian Programmers don't code in java. the thing is they used to code in Java, before the storm of .NET hits the industry. Though Java Programmers exist but they appreciate coding in .NET especially c#(refined Java) .NET leads |
@habeebphd .NET and Java |
okay mr. Kel BBF- better by far thought u are a bbf student |
av got no point to make.cos myself and people around me do not see programmers only as computer guru.. may be u are judging by the minority and people of dash knowledge of the IT world |
mrkels: Madame the school I attended they say is the best right now in the country, but class dean no dey o,there's a dean bt he hardly attends to issues like this, the academic/course adviser you r talkn about have little or no interest in students with low cgpa, they consider them as unserious so they never listen to them or spare some time for them except the elite ones, then the councelling departmentyou are right..the longest lap of the race would be ran by herself.. g&c is located rightly beside the students affairs office...an new unit though since the time of appointment of the new DSA who is from G&C dept. hope my assumptions are right.. BBF |
this thread should have a permanent space on the front page I am getting inspired... |

I don't know if you r talkn about G&C , I'm not sure it existed in my school, even if it did I'm sure 98% of students did not know the location of the department, this is naija, let's wake up, ur advice is not bad o, bt right now the only person that can help the lady is herself.
