GboyegaD: No problems whatsoever with the Post UME exams however, why can't JAMB sponsor each school or they make a mandatory fee of like N1000 per candidate instead of allowing the schools to milk these guys dry without giving them admission. I know often times, most schools do not admit up to 50% of the their intake annually on merit.

CareerRe: The Issue Of HND Discrimination In The Civil Service by prodam(m): 3:38pm On Mar 25, 2012
I hope the discrimination would end someday...a way that can bring this into reality is to equate poly to university..the fund, activities and every other thing being given to the university by the govt should also be for the polys.the system should be similar..
Or let them be widely separated and distinct in the courses offeres by them..that is science and technology courses can only be offered by poly while universities can only offer theory courses and courses in the art and social sciences
PoliticsRe: Has Tribalism On Nairaland Affected You Negatively? by prodam(m): 5:56am On Mar 22, 2012
the fact is this: what happens here on Nairaland is just a reflection of what happens in the society we find ourselves.
Tribalism and tribal_based favoritism is the order of the day in African Nations Nigeria inclusive. the more places you visit, the more you understand this phenomenon. after all, people who post on Nairaland are People( Nigerians and friend of Nigeria). these people are the same people we see, interact and dine together on the street. the same people we argue with over the issue of ethnicity in Nigeria. they exhibit tribalism in their dealings, and speeches, so writing it on a free forum like this would not be a problem.

so aint surprised nor affected by the posts on Nairaland that encourages tribalism cos it is what I am faced with everyday in my immediate society

ProgrammingRe: Networking Involves Programming But Not Otherwise? by prodam(op): 10:39pm On Mar 12, 2012
@kodewrita:

I guess you are mixing things up or something. this is because the points you actually brought even support my statement.

you talked about network programming.

from wikipedia:

Computer network programming involves writing computer programs that enable processes to communicate with each other across a computer network.

this implies that in a network environment, programs are written to enable computers to communicate with each other.

@csharpjava: the code you posted shows the principle or logic behind the pinging of an address, thereby burtressing my advocacy that networking in general stands on programming

okay, more simpler: codes are inevitable in networking but networking concept can be left out in programming.

thanks all the same
ProgrammingNetworking Involves Programming But Not Otherwise? by prodam(op): 9:47pm On Mar 12, 2012
At any level, Networking experts can never do without programming but a programmer can be a guru without the knowledge of networking.

what would one call the configration of a router, the pinging of an IP address, the assigning of IP address by the DHCP and a host of other networking activities.they all involved programming in one way or the other.

On the other hand, I am yet to see the reason why a programmer would network two or more computers in order to get a real-time(core programming) job done.

however, I may be proved wrong right away

this would justify the respect for programming..It is made for the exceptionals indeed..
ProgrammingRe: A Way Forward For The Field Of Computer Science In Nigeria by prodam(op): 8:53pm On Mar 12, 2012
Thanks guys for shedding more light on this issue, I really salute your positivity.

one thing we must understand is that computer science can never be compared to any IT related course done in any IT shools anywhere. computer science comprises of various computing theory and sub-fields within it. some of which are:

Artificial Intelligence
Communications
Computational Biology
Computer Graphics
Computer Modeling
Computer Programming
Computer Science
Distributed Computing
Encryption
Hacking
Information Technology
Internet
Mobile Computing
Photography
Quantum Computers
Robotics
Software
Spintronics
Video Games
Virtual Reality
WiFi

Specialising in any of the above fields indicates the ultimate application of the knowledge of computer science. It is also an undisputable fact that computer science graduates possess the ability of becoming an expert in any field within a short period of time, just like graduates from other courses in their various fields.

thank you. Greatest computer scientist. what we do is transforming theory into concrete substance. understanding the logic and principle behind every single thing. Keep Your Head Up High

you are right brother, only the rightly guided ones can know this, a critical thinking dissolved in a river of unbiased ideology would know that we have not actually know the real cause of the deadly attacks that occur in Nigeria today.yes because, the news we receive are always cooked up to make sales and destroy themselves and not the religion of peace,

I think this topic seeks to find a solution to a recurrent problem in our dear nation, the topic is asking an important question which is paramount to finding a solution to the problem of non-patriotism , the Topic is not giving room for some impatient ones to start condemning our dear Nation.

The thing is this, if you think the whole system is corrupt, simply, continue with your own self principle of patriotism.
if you are a patriotic citizen already, please continue to be one cos I strongly believe that Nigeria would have a new story

if the youth of today are saying NO to change, then we are preparing for a worse situation in this country.

sack all your lecturers
conduct a fresh programming language based interview
and recruit younger lecturers.
Reduce the courses to 2 per year.
Remove english and maths permanently.
In 5 years, you'll see the result.

ProgrammingA Way Forward For The Field Of Computer Science In Nigeria by prodam(op):
Hi guys, everyday we talk about problems peculiar to the field of computer science in Nigeria. most people who never attended a university or any higher institution tend to be more exposed and refuse to bow to the graduates. This is not because of pride but a pest that seems to be decaying the field of computers science. This pest is nothing but the syllabus of computer science in most of our higher institutions.

Guys, what could be the solution that in a period of 5 years to this time, there would be a significant and evident change. A vision of a time when a computer science would not be a poo!!!

As long as I breath I am able to make the best out of the
very position I find myself in spite of the national struggles which
seems to affect everyone in one way or the other. I am a Nigerian and
hoping for the best of things for the nation, making use of it rich
although diverse culture, natural resources and its independence.
Nigeria at 50; the past ---seems too interesting although tedious to
tell its stories because of the wonders which the then leaders of the
country had put in place. Kudos to the likes of chief Obafemi
Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe , Alhaji Tafawa Balewa, and the likes for
paving the ways for people like obasanjo, ibb, muritala, who came in,
prepare the seat for the premiers we have today I mean goodluck, late
yaradua,. What have they done since independence? what changes have
we experienced so far? Would we the youths allow the works of these

marvelous legends die off or will do better? Analysis of the present
situation is crucial to this matter. All of this, I will discuss in
my essay. Furthermore, the anti-social imminence and the effect of
current upsurge of indiscipline in the leadership of our nation which
in turn is responsible for most of our top challenges would be
briefed along side its possible remedy.

the above piece is a patriot call on the youth in Nigeria to rise to the challenges of today. it is also an excerpt from my unpublished book(problem for 50 years: the youth solution), please watch out

Many student enters uni with the drive to get a first class, Many of which are smart and some not so smart.
As they go along some are left out of the race, at the end only the "exceptional" ones make it.
Note exceptional doesnt mean you have to be a genius, you just need to be atleast average, resilent and "DEDICATED".
@ OP you just might not be as smart as you think you are, but dont let the fact that you did not get a first class discourage you. I am 2:1 afterall but i have a 1st class brain, mindset, "INFORMATION".
@those using Jamb and Waec to judge how good people are, i beg to disagree coz alot of factors contribute to how well one can perfom in those exam, such factors are school standard, training, exposure etc. I for one didnt have A1s in my waec or 300ish jamb but in my department and faculty i am
up there at par with those who had A1s in waec and just incase i'm 2:1 4.2.
PERFECT

getting first class in Nigerian Universities as some posters have rightly stated, is beyond reading only. It involves "total Intelligence". scholars are people who survive against all odds under the same environment with others. sadist lecturers or "score stingy" profs are part of the factors and problems that students would be made to solve in order to achieve the best. problems like that amounts to the reason why graduands get excited on the day of their convocation.
Get the fact right: class of degrees have been bastardized with corruption. employers have learned about it so applicants are made to pass through a serious interview that serves as a "confirmation test" for the applicant's results.
the news of an English graduate with 2.1 that couldn"t spell the word "encounter" at the last Nigeria Police Force exam is still fresh in our memory, on this note, I concur with previous arguement and submit that YOUR INNER ABILITY WOULD CARVE A NICHE FOR YOU IN THE SOCIETY NO MATTER YOUR RESULTS

Think more of a rich user interface for such an app.Windows Foundation Classes should be okay if you are a windows developer,if you do java like me,then swing or swt or even java fx would do.

I say this because because the user interface is the catchy aspect of it.Look up such app via google to get a feel of what they look like.
the OP as much as i understand his post, does not need the above information for now, he is still in the step 1 of his project, all the terminologies you stated come up later after a well-written algorithm(as required by the OP).

I can't start typing the algorithm now cos i would need to write such in a general form without any specification, its gonna be a laborious job for any one, its gonna be pretty easier for you to do since you have the specifications of the system(i.e what the system or software is expected to do exactly, specifically, taking into consideration the number of courses time and the rest).
NOw,
i am gonna get my on version of the algorithm, meanwhile clearly state out ur problem and think!!!

@OP, you are asking programmers to give u advice on which programming language to learn out of two rivalry technologies "JAVA AND .NET", and you dont want iniate a war, impossible, cos people would give you advice on what they know about and what they are comfortable with

MY GUY, "what you really want to do" really determine ur choice of language, I am sure if ur requirement analysis and specification is done properly, you would determine which language would best solve the problem.
do you want to be a desktop app dev or web dev, u wanna go microsoft or wana have compatibility advantage with oracle or sun? highlight ur area of interest, if you are a guru in any field or language, you would find a job cos the main aim of a software project is to achieve success

what you should know again is that Good Programmers know more than 1 language and they use theses languages according what project they are working on, so getting hand on more than 1 language is an added advantage for flexibility sake,

how can 9ice think of contesting for a seat in the house of representative, this is corruption and selfishness in its peak.
