Masterkernel1:Nigeria can actually hit Ghana where it hurts without even going the military route. We can force them to pay for the accumulated money they are owing us. We can cut off gas supplies to them. We can cut off all trade deals or transactions with them and close our borders with them indefinitely. |
Really!? As in these guys went into the premises of Nigeria's high commission in Ghana and demolished its residential buildings ![]() To any decent country, this alone is an act of war and requires immediate retaliation and deplomatic aggressiveness. Any embassy or high commission is regarded as that country's home ground and is always respected by the host country. Why would Ghana assault, insult and denigrate Nigeria like this? Is it because they've discovered there is a power vacuum in Nigeria or what?? Lord have mercy, if these guys fail to retaliate one way or another, then no country again would regard or respect Nigeria. SHAME!!! |
enehvictor:Honestly, I'm totally disappointed if this is all Ogun have got despite all it's gaining from Lagos? There is nothing spectacular about these pictures here and it's such a shame that people are celebrating such mediocrity in this modern times. There governors both past and present should cover their faces in shame for failing to leverage all the opportunities Lagos is providing them on a platter of gold. |
scholes0:You just ended up confusing yourself. Now, allow me to school you. Human capital development is an offshoot of educational enrollment. Without having a high enrollment rate you can't talk about having a developed human capital. Based on that fact, can you compare primary, secondary and university enrollment figures between Imo and Anambra states with Ogun state? Without Ogun being close to Lagos, it would have been as re.tarded as other SW states. Even from the pictures you're posting here, it goes to show that Ogun is still backward. So, these are pictures of the best places you have in Abeokuta ![]() ![]() Damn it, Aba looks far more beautiful and advanced than this! Abakilike has better infrastructure than this! I just used these two cities which are by no means the best we have in the SE. I didn't mention Enugu, Owerri or Onitsha because that will amount to an overkill. Truly speaking, Lagos really helped you guys to cover a lot of things and without Lagos, SW would most likely be worse than NE. If we have anything like Lagos close to the SE, I bet you we would be far ahead of any region in Nigeria. |
Bla bla bla. Stop peddling lies here. When did Ogun become the state with the second highest human capital development? I ask you again? How did you arrive at that? |
scholes0:I'm not arguing about FDI, everyone knows that Ogun is benefiting from its close proximity to Lagos. I'm talking about your claims of Ogun being the state with the second highest human development index, or don't you know the difference? |
scholes0:You don't have to start your thread with cheap lies. When did Ogun state become the state with the second highest human development index in Nigeria? Where then do you put the powerhouses of human development in Nigeria i.e. Imo and Anambra states? You guys have come again o, but the era of propaganda and lies are over and we are to ensure that no one is decieved again. |
Yampotatocarrot:To be honest with you, I used to like Rochas too until he ruled Imo state. He still has his good attributes such as being bold and courageous as well as thinking ahead but his greatest undoing is greed, covetiousness and a penchant to scam. The good things he did in Imo state which only someone with balls could do was the relocation of the two markets i.e. Eke Ukwu Owerri and New Market despite the opposition against it and the widening of some roads among others. However, he undermined himself by doing mostly shoddy and very poor quality jobs. He wanted to do more for less while pocketing the money but he forgot that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction to it. It is a crime against ndi Imo to award roads amounting to billions of naira only for same roads to fail within a year. It is a crime against ndi Imo to build substandard structures costing billions of naira and without completing them but only to turn them into white elephant projects. Igbos or Imolites are not stvpid, no one would be calling him out or criticizing him if he performed excellently. Since he knew he would be aiming for a higher office, why didn't he go all out to do great works in Imo state and use it advertise himself instead of trying to pull wool over our eyes? Look at Ebonyi state, the governor there has a penchant for supporting Buhari despite his obvious wicked acts against Igbos which makes many angry but it does not stop us from appreciating his great strides in Ebonyi state. Igbos did not just become angry and always criticize Rochas because he is in APC or was against GEJ reelection but mainly because of how he ended his governance in Imo state. This is the internet age and news and information travels at the speed of light. He missed the opportunity to use Imo state to advertise himself. |
Crocodile tears. |
Abagworo:I agree with you that governance is a continuum and PDP government of Ihedioha weren't completely blameless. However, nobody would scrap a road that is in good condition. The portions of Akachi road that were scraped was already bad before it was scrapped, I'm aware of that because I often drive through it. The hospitals you are saying were vandalized weren't completed to start with. I was at that hospital the day Osinbajo was invited to commission it. A day to the date, some equipment and decorations were hurriedly brought in from that Al In mall along Aba road rumoured to be owned by Nkechi Okorocha. The back of the hospital and many sections of it were still uncompleted yet it was commissioned with a crested sign board that named it Rochas free mother and child hospital. Immediately the dignitaries that came to commission it left, all the equipment and decorations that were brought in were all returned and the place was empty. So what exactly was vandalized? I also agree with you that if Uche Nwosu was made the governor that he would have covered up on all these things but why would a governor scam his people? |
post=90890053:Only two cities in Nigeria have this unique concentration of highrise buildings i.e. Aba and Onitsha. If only Nigeria has stable power supply, these two cities would have more number of skyscrapers than Lagos and Abuja. |
SmartPolician:I feel sad each time I go to the former old market to fix my car. The so called hospital has been overgrown with weeds and structure now harbours miscreants who hide inside it to smoke weed. The same thing is happening at the former old market where another so called hospital is rotting away and to think that these things cost billions of naira can make one want to go crazy. |
Yampotatocarrot:Don't let anyone decieve you. Most of the roads being worked again were earlier awarded and "constructed" during Rochas tenure. Wetheral road, Umezuirike road, Douglas road etc yet all these roads are being scrapped and reconstructed again. It would have been better if Rochas did only a couple of standard roads that would last instead of wasting Imo state resources. |
raker300:Your camera is not good enough and that's quite sad |
Op, if you know you can't get nice pictures of cool areas in Aba then don't bother. Where is Ebemma street? Waterside with Enyimba hotel? River layout? Azikiwe road? Asa road by Ochiriozuo house? CKC? Factory road? Park road before the main park? Aba Owerri road by Living Word? Aba Owerri road by Tonimas? All those built up areas high rises all over main town among several other nice areas? You guys always fail to justice to the nice areas in Aba. Government has failed Aba but the city is not as terrible as it is being steorotyped in the media. |
Aba is punching below its weight due to bad leadership. Aba used to be a regional powerhouse but is now a shadow of its former self. |
Most people have myths and legends, these are stories that are told to children at bedtime. It doesn't change facts. |
Why don't we as Nigerians act as normal human beings and do the right thing which is to totally restructure this country or completely balkanize it? Nigeria is currently being raped and abused by all and sundry because no one actually believes in it. If Arewa people knows that the North is their own, they will protect it by all means. They will either fight Boko Haram passionately or allow them to control their affairs and ultimately there would be peace at the end and they will live accordingly. If Igbos know that Biafra is all they've got, they will not allow any politician to embezzle state funds. They will chase out corrupt politicians without having to wait for Abuja. They will not allow the sort of robbery that took place in Imo state to happen. Votes will count and ultimately politicians will have no choice but to work or be chased out. If Yorubas know that Oduduwa is all they've got, they will ensure that their country develops fast. The same Awolowo spirit in the first republic will push them to want to be ahead. Why do we keep behaving like fools and suffering unnecessarily when we can actually live better lives!!? |
Today, most graduates have lost hope of ever becoming meaningfully employed. You see many of our youths frustrated, even the few that get work end up being paid 25k monthly! You see millions jostling for N-power, so they can earn peanuts. Men in their 30's are not even thinking of settling down. Of course, not because they like barchelorhood but because Nigeria has failed them. Are they going to get married while earning 25k? Can that afford a wedding? Can it afford accommodation? Can it even feed them talk more of feeding extra mouths? |
In the 1970's, how many countries in Africa can compare with Nigeria? Even South East Asian countries were behind us but fast forward today, not only has all other nations in SE Asia left us far behind, even fellow African countries too are widening their gap on us. And if things continue at this pace, we will soon be so ashamed to identify ourselves as Nigerians abroad. |
When we were kids in the early 1990's, I used to remember our parents telling us how things were so good during the 1970's and I would be wondering why things would be so good then only to become bad now. However, recent events in Nigeria have proven that assertion true i.e. the more the years go by, the more we continue to sink down the abyss. Only a few years ago, prior to 2015, Nigeria was a little manageable but at the moment, everything has deteriorated badly. Most graduate leaving our universities are going back to their parents houses. Some who still have bouyant parents will further their education to masters level just to extend the dooms day of facing a reality of no jobs. However, they will still ultimately go back to doing petty stuffs like selling items on social media, looking for any means to travel out, even if it means going to Ghana, or even indulging in criminal activities like Yahoo, ritual, kidnapping or prostitution by the females. If you think Nigeria is terrible now, then wait for 5, 10 or 20 years from now and you will see worse and unimaginable crises. |
Sammy07:Go through the report and stop asking me JAMB question. |
Nwanyiogwashi:These people just tire me I swear |
You only account for 12% of the population while the Fon constitute 39% of the population yet the Yorubas there are claiming to be the majority. Are they bringing their usual propaganda to Benin republic. |
Amotolongbo:From the CV of the other contestants, it is obvious why Egypt is afraid of Ngozi Okonjo Iweala being in the race. She has not just experience on her side but global popularity. There is no doubt that the rest of Sub Saharan Africa will support her while her connections on the global arena will no doubt dwarf whatever the Egyptian candidate has. |
Shame on Egypt! Bigger shame on AU!! The Egyptians are afraid of competing against a superior candidate. |
Lol, just imagine! Yet Nigerians that are having it far worse are still sleeping |
gartamanta:I do agree with you that the North can't be saved now. Trying to do so would take so many years and trillions of dollars which we just can't afford. Official data states that there are over 10 million out of school children roaming the streets (although the actual number is obviously way higher) and when we factor in that millions of such idle children that lacked love while growing up, had no education, had no skill and had no future had been growing into adults over the years then how do we expect peace and prosperity? How do we expect Boko Haram to end when they have an endless pool to draw supplies from? The situation has really become critical and something needs to be done right now! |
For over ten years now, the North has been battling with serious crises of civil war proportions. What started in Borno state as insurgency has snowballed into a two-pronged conflagration i.e. fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram that is decimating the region like wildfire. At the last count, almost the entire NE and most parts of NW and NC are now recording deaths and destruction on a daily basis and there seems to be no end in sight. GEJ was accused of having an antinorth agenda and when his former chief army staff in the person of Ihejirika began to make serious headway against Boko Haram, the same people at the receiving end of the crises mounted a campaign of calumny against him that he was killing their people, and he was removed. At the moment, the federal government is spending billions of dollars in the so-called fight against insurgency, monies that would have been used in building roads, schools, hospitals and other sectors. To make matters worse, even the few arms and ammunition that are bought with what is left after embezzlement, would still end up either stolen or destroyed by Boko Haram and the circle continues. I was shocked the other day to discover that many countries with little population including some African countries have bigger budgets than Nigeria yet a huge percentage of our small budget still goes into a phantom war without end against insurgency. Nigeria is currently so backward that even by African standards, we are way behind. Look at our schools and colleges, hospitals, roads just name it and compare them with what is obtainable in other African countries like South Africa, Ghana, Egypt, Kenya, Rwanda, Morocco, Botswana etc. We all should be ashamed of our situation and hopeless future. Are we going to remain docile instead of taking our destiny into our own hands? Are we going to continue fighting one another while the rest of the world leaves us behind? Our population is estimated to be 200 million today and is growing rapidly while our national income keeps depreciating. We have now resorted to using borrowed loans to be financing our budgets that are largely recurrent, so what will happen to us in say 5 to 10 or 20 years from now? If you are from Southern Nigeria and you are not seriously bothered at what is going on, then you are definitely living in a fool's paradise. My people, winter is coming. So, what do we do to save our ourselves and future generations?? |
The North has finally collapsed due to its terrible structural problem. Nothing can save them, it is too late. With millions of brainwashed illiterates, poverty stricken and hopeless people roaming all over the region, then there is no end to all these. |
SpecialAgent:You're not getting it. Landlords don't increase rent annually, it can take up to five years in some instances before rents are increased. Do government increase increase salary every year? It takes many years before government increases salary. Do you buy imported commodities everyday? Like what and what? Do you buy things like cars, televisions, electronics, gadgets etc every month. Basic things like food, clothing and shelter among others does not increase in price everyday, they take years to do so and that's enough time for dollar earners to accumulate profit. However, someone earning in dollars is seeing increased earnings daily courtesy of higher exchange rate. At worst, a dollar earner would see increase in income at a geometric rate while inflation would be at an arithmetic rate. I have explained enough already but if you still want to believe otherwise, you're free to do so. |
