IDENNAA: Equally, you should also factor the cost of running Ebonyi in line with their needs.
Honestly, speaking , I think the governor has built some monumental projects which I really don't think is important at this stage and people are confusing that with good governance. Ebony has more pressing need of human development and the state is not financially buoyant but you are spending billions building large markets and ICC. Why dont you spend all that money to build trade schools for artisans? Talking about misplaced priority.
As for those comparing Umahi to Obiano on what basis are you comparing them ? Education , Roads, Investment , Healthcare , Security , Poverty index , Environment ? See, it's not a good idea to begin to compare the two states because they have different challenges. Every part of Anambra is seeing surging development and it's hard for the governor to keep up with infrastructures. In contrast, Umahi is more concerned with beautifying Abakeleke...he does have some solid projects but they are few and far in between.
I , personally , dont think Obiano has done his best but he was never a failure ! He sustained security, opened the state for investment , brought our cultures back but the state never got to the NEXT level.
I don't know why you guys always make it seem like everything is a competition. I'm neither from Ebonyi nor Anambra but Umahi is far ahead of Obiano.
You're talking about human development as if it was Obiano that did it. States like Anambra and Imo have always ranked high in human development and it isn't the work of any particular governor.
Dave Umahi is by far the best governor in Nigeria today. Before you argue unintelligently, calculate federal allocation and IGR of each state and relate it with what the governors built and you will see why Dave Umahi has no comparison whatsover.
sesan85: South Africans and Americans don't flee from their homelands in their millions like homeless refugees and mendicant gypsies like Igbos. Non-Igbos don't run to Igboland for greener pastures in their millions like foreigners run to South Africa and America. Silly comparism?
It's apparent that you're not informed yet it's appalling seeing how stubborn you choose to remain in ignorance.
Globally, people always take advantage in areas where they have comparative advantage. That's the reason why you see a lot of Chinese, Indians and Lebanese all over Africa, even in remote areas, doing one business or another. They are not in those places because African countries are more developed than China, India or Lebanon rather they saw opportunities the locals are incompetent to handle or run efficiently, and they filled the void while cashing out in the process. That's the same thing Igbos are doing all over Nigeria and beyond. That's also why others can't compete against them in many sectors and they end up hating them.
I have seen people from Anambra, Imo and other Igbo states doing business in very remote and poor areas like rural places in the North. Now does it mean those places are more developed than where they came from.
The difference between Igbos and others is that Igbos are naturally daring and adventurous, and wouldn't mind enduring some momentary hardship while keeping their eyes on the bigger picture and they end up becoming successful in the succeeding years.
LukasPodolski: [s] Both Apc and PDP are guilty of rigging, however I wasn't promoting rigging in my post, just trying to say what will likely play out, I was low key supporting Him untill he committed a blunder, Naming a street after Saraki (mind you Saraki is from my State, and I have every reason to get mad at anything that involves Saraki, Bukola is the greatest thief of our time)
and yes, people from the Southern part of Nigeria caused the disgrace Nigeria is currently suffering Outside, Northerners hardly travel, you don't see Hausa/Fulani SE drugs in South Africa, Malaysia, Indonesia e.t.c Hausa/fulani don't do Ashawo in Ghana e.t.c or Fraud, the perpetrators of all these are mainly IGBOs and to some extent Yorubas.
Almajiri is not the reason for the xenophobic attack in South Africa or closure of shops in Ghana.
Your founding fathers were the architect of one NIGERIA, why are you trying to put the blame on others?
moreover, when did NIGERIA turn to United Nations that gives autonomy to New Countries? [/s]
LukasPodolski: ipob are miscalculating again, Obaseki has given APC every reason to rig this coming election.
APC will rig this election and you all won't do shit
I don't know why Ibos are taking Panadol for another man's headache.
wetin concern me sef, let's leave this Mata for the good people of Edo.
Honestly, something is seriously wrong with a section of Nigerians which I'm trying to wrap my hands on. However, you epitomize the rot that has made this country so useless. Now, tell me why you all are going paranoid over IPOB?
Is it IPOB that made Nigeria a laughing stock and the world's poverty capital?
Is it IPOB that made Nigerian youths totally hopeless and frustrated??
So why are you guys seeing IPOB everywhere or has the group become omnipresent?
FYI, IPOB is not the reason why Nigeria has become so unfortunate rather they are trying to save their people from the sinking ship called Nigeria.
jneutron4000: IF any SA cities have just half of the pressure Lagos is dealing with it terms of population and mass migration from Ibos and Hausa/Fulanis which in turns has a massive negative effects on public infrastrutures trust me their cities will become. If you check the population of Johannesburg it about 6million and Lagos is more than 20 million and even smaller than Johannersburg in term of land mass. There is no way Lagos can be well organized if migration into Lagos is not controlled, Lagos used to be well organized when we had regional government in 1950s. If you read thru their tweets, they are blaming high migration of Nigerians into johannesburg which is true. Even New York City, NY population is not half of Lagos population and NY is very dirty. So organisation also has to deal with controlling the migration of the people.
The blame still goes to your government for being primitive minded. SA did not move all infrastructures and anything of worth to Johannesburg rather they wisely spread development across all its cities and regions. Look at Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth etc. each of them has almost what the others have and that is why they have millionaire cities of global standard. However, here in Nigeria, ethnocentrism made the Federal government to concentrate virtually everything in Lagos and lately Abuja too. That is why those two cities are choking on its own weight because 200 million people are forced to rely on them. That is madness!
People from the East shouldn't be coming to Lagos to clear goods at the seaports! They shouldn't be coming to Lagos to use the airport! They shouldn't be coming to Lagos for consular services! They shouldn't be coming to Lagos before they could access some government needs! Enugu Airport should be standardized to cater for international flight needs of the region! P.H, Calabar, and Onitsha ports should be made efficient to cater for sea freight needs of the region.
It is primitive and self destructive when all imports and exports are channeled through Lagos, and everything concentrated there. When other regions plead with the government to decentralize amenities and infrastructures across all regions, the same people from Lagos region will sabotage it. So you can't eat your cake and still have it. You gain by having over-bloated IGR and economy at the expense of others but you pay dearly by living miserably and that is what the law of cause and effects means because for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction to it.
eduj: old pictures from the first industrial estate in aba . their are 3 in the city -eziama hosting pz and Co, osisioma industrial estate which is the biggest and lastly the one at industry road. all is feed with gas by shell Nigerian breweries and Vita foam
This is what I have been expecting Abians to do since. Project the good sides of your state too. Your governors may be terrible back to back but it doesn't change the fact that Abia has great potentials.
NGpatriot: Show us your houses in the SE back in the 30's, 40's, 50's and the 60's? You were living in caves and mud huts with thatched roof.
Aba and Onitsha were already built up as far back as the 1920's yet you would hardly see the sort of decrepit buildings that are found all over your cities today.
flokii: What if they now see the pictures of Aba and Ariara market
Developers moving around with their stock-in-trade. You'll see them twenty in one room, creating and dwelling in slums everywhere they go. Shoooor!
Look at this one. Do you want to expose yourself or what?
I was looking at that Soweto pictures, i.e. a ghetto by SA standards and I was appalled on realizing that it's more beautiful than Ibadan, Abeokuta and other relics in the SW
Please respect yourself and don't allow them to know about your "heritage"
Sammy07: Don't mind Proeast ooo. imagine add the whole allocations of SE to Oyo state, it's 10x higher than Oyo state. they have almost equal landmass
Yet, SE isn't Dubai. If Oyo state is divided into 5 States they think it won't developed more than that
Just look at the sort of uninformed argument you guys are making, after you all will claim to be educated.
What does having uninhabited wastelands got to do with development?
Are you people building roads, schools, boreholes etc. inside those uninhabited jungles?
Take a look at your cities and tell me if you can count up to three high rise residential buildings in your streets. Littering everywhere with cheap bungalows and claiming that your city is large is nonsense.
Eastern cities can comfortably have 20,000 people per square killometer due to good land use unlike SW rustic towns where shanties are scattered everywhere.
Abagworo: I challenged you to list with evidence the roads built by Okorocha that didn't last up to one year. I will also list with evidence the ones that lasted till Ihedioha excavated them and the ones he didn't excavate that are still there as a witness. It's a challenge
Lol, the question should rather be, is there any road Rochas built that lasted more than one year.
Wetheral road, Douglas road, Umezuirike road, Akachi road, Orlu road etc. Even the sections of Orlu road that is still okay feels like driving on hills and valleys, your car would be bouncing up and down because the road was not leveled.
helinues: Are you referring to the whole 5 SE states that it's almost the same landmass with Oyo state alone.
Hahahahaha
You're not making any sense. Borno, Niger and some other states in the North are bigger than the whole SW in terms of landmass so what's your point again??
Lol, look at the kind of pictures you're celebrating, like seriously!?
Honest to God, Oguta village in Imo state has is better than these environment and that's a fact. You can Google Oguta village and the drone pictures will convince you.
Abagworo: You once used oneeast so it's obvious proeast is a version of oneeast. Most real estate address is scam
Are you kidding me? You're calling me Chino, lol, truth is bitter. I live in Owerri and everything I'm saying here is 100% facts that can be easily verified by anyone.
