Please who can help with a link or plug for NIN enrollement in the Manchester Area as a prerequisite for Nigerian Passport renewal. We are also willing to travel far if that solves our problem.

The steps listed online insists on a "pre-enrollment" to be done online and all the portal has been unresponsive for two weeks now. Can we skip the pre-enrollment phase and just book an appointment/turn up for capturing anytime?

The person to be enrolled is a minor whose passport will expire in August.

How did you get past the 3 years residency address please?
Put in your current address. (UK)
put in your previous address. (UK)

Even if they both do not total to three years, (2 months in my case) you will no longer be asked for address details again.

Is the Naira appreciating? Then that’s a good thing, that means prices of goods in Niaja will go down.
When observed wholistically, the Naira isnt appreciating as its still weakening against other currencies, the Dollar for example. its just the GBP weakening, even against the dollar.

Dollar payments made using a GBP card 6 weeks ago was converted at a much more favourable rate than that done today.

The Naira is still useless.

when they ask for your address, did you state that you stayed in here for more than 3 years
From experience, the address issue is conquered by having two UK addresses. they dont bother asking you older and previous addresses till it totals to the normal 3 years required in some applications.

Many of us had soft landing in our first few weeks in this country with family or friends. Then our current address. start by filling current, then the previous. even if it is one month in both places, it suffices. It might help that your name is on Utility bills in both (i cant be certain at this point but mine was).

Also, though Amex boasts that they dont have a minimum income requirement for approvals, it will help that you slightly exaggerate total income a bit especially if you put it in "other income". at least, you can defend that with savings or investments back home if need be. This helps in approval as i havent seen any AmEx card with limits below 1,000GBP so income that cannot guarantee a 1k limit will lead to your application being declined.

lemme still drop the link here incase this sways anybody. http://amex.co.uk/refer/aMaKaUqe5b?XL=MNANS

What does this credit utilisation mean?

If I get a limit of £5k approved on the card for instance, I used the whole 5k to buy something today and pay back in full tomorrow.

Is there a penalty for using everything in the first instance?
I don't think there is. I have maxed out my card in the past and paid down immediately after as I have a low limit. Haven't noticed any penalty or adverse effect on my score.

Your spending info is internal to your Issuer. The info reported to registries is statement closing position and once you get that part to as close to zero as possible, you are okay

As for Credit Utilisation, it just goes to paint a picture of how "credit hungry" one is. This can be used to build an idea of how good a money manager one is thereby helping lenders make a decision.

Hello friends

Would like to ask if I can apply for credit card as a student and if I can, which would be the best!huh
Yes You Can. I got my first one as a student barely 3 months in this country.

I recommend co-branded cards or loyalty card for starters as they demand less stringent requirements for beginers.

Try the free British Airways American Express card using this referral link below.

http://amex.co.uk/refer/aMaKaUqe5b?XL=MNANS

Please don't be shy to embellish your income small by entering something substantial to prevent rejection. You can put up 10 #19,000 in other income as well

Please ensure you pay your full outstanding monthly and don't carry over more than 30% credit limit utilisation at the statement close date. Anything above 30% reported to the registries has an adverse effect on credit score.

Ps. I am also a beginner in the UK.

[Please who has answer to this question quote author=Irenenwaka post=112610057]Hi guys, sorry a quick one… i know a lady who is coming to the uk for masters with her 2 kids. She was asking if it is compulsory to have PTA as she has heard that some people without PTA aren’t allowed through borders.

Please if this is true , like how much PTA does she need to hold.
I don't think it is true. PTA isn't compulsory and there should be countries whose nationals don't get to enjoy such, yet they aren't allowed entry.

I have never met any desk where one is asked for PTA. Even when coming in with cash, declaration (filling thay customs form) is only mandatory for $10,000 and it's equivalent.

Just hold a card and claim your funds are in it. Them no get terminal to confirm balance

Please oga boss and other ancestors, I need a guide on paying off used fund on this credit card something. I dey see 15th May period ending. Please I want to know if it's the date to pay off the cash used, if yes can I pay down before the 15th?. I don't want anything to affect the small Credit history we dey try mould block for.

Is it better to set up a direct debit to pay off anything used?.

Please I need a guidance.

Na Amex card.
Apologies for the delayed response, You can pay anytime before the balance due date. just click the make a payment tab and follow the prompts. i always advice paying in full anytime before the due date.

Missing it attracts a 12 Pound "late payment fee" as well as interest on the outstanding amount.

it is also encouraged to not carry more than 25-30% of your credit limit into the statement closure date as that is what forms your "credit utilisation score" which is reported to the registry/bureau.

so what i do is, memorase/note my due date/statement dates. then spend, paydown from time to time. also, if i have #800 left in my limit and i want to pay for something thats 1000, i will pay #200 in, make my purchase, then still reduce it before that date. anything above 30% utilised that gets reported to the registry has an adverse effect on your Credit score.

This is my own self developed method and this is not financial advice.

there is a difference BTW city and highway driving but then, a day begins a story. I did Owerri-PHC and back between 10am and 2pm same day and I am just few weeks behind the wheels.

be alert, keep your lines straight, don't over speed especially on roads single carriage ways, go with a road worthy vehicle and u will be fine.

another tip is to leave on a day and at hours that are less competitive.

also had an Owerri- Lag trip with a three months experienced driver. safe, sound and in record time (5am-11am)

just be prepared.

CareerKeeping It Real: Your Boss Is A Prizefighter by ProfJYK(op): 9:05pm On Jan 12, 2013
Your Boss is a Prizefighter
Don't even dream about it, don't ever take the bait. To fight your boss? That is a suicide mission, a mission that in the least will leave wounded bitterly if not out in the cold looking for a new job. What with pay freezes, the threat of lay offs and the ever-present reality that there's a mile-long line of unemployed workers itching to do your job, fighting your boss is nothing short of committing career suicide.
As stated earlier, your boss is only human with her personal traits, beliefs, idiosyncrasies, foibles and temperament. She is influenced and guided by life experiences and some of those experiences may not have been pleasant at all, so she projects her hurt, anger, frustrations on to her subordinates and this can get you really crazy.
There are crazy things that bosses do and the fact that someone is your boss does not mean they posses good ethics, beliefs or principles. You will be amazed at what people believe and what principles they adhere to. I have tried to list some things bosses do that may seem to provide moral justification for you to get into the ring with them. However, I will advise that you don't take the bait unless you want to get knocked out of the ring (job).
Crazy Things Bosses

1. Taking credit for your ideas and presenting them to management without even acknowledging you. This could really hurt and can make you want to go to the higher-ups to state your claim to the idea with solid evidence. Please don't take the bait unless you are sure of getting another job. Simply discuss this over with your boss and if he is reasonable, he will find a way to compensate you, besides other team members are most likely aware that the idea was yours. Another option out of this quagmire is to patent your idea if you really believe that it is worth much and it is a potential game changer for your company that way your idea is protected.

2. Playing the favouritism/ethnic card. Trust me this one really hurts. I have worked with bosses who play this card well. They clearly favour employees from their religion or ethnic group with the best projects, best advice, real exposure, promotion, pay increase etc. Employees with different ethno-religious inclinations are treated like dung and rarely have face time with boss. Sometimes the favoured employees serve as a go-between the boss and the less favoured employees. This could be really frustrating especially when the favoured employees are less competent, lazy and are just engaged in playing politics. I know all the signs scream “Fight” or “Report your boss to the higher-ups” but please don't make that mistake. Nobody will believe you and there is hardly any prove, you will be amazed that in the end you will stand alone as other affected employees who should have stood with you will stick to their jobs and allow you fight your boss alone.

Don't engage in a shouting contest with your boss

3.Playing the God card. Aha! that got your attention. You probably may have worked with bosses who behave as if they own their staff. They verbally and psychologically abuse them and encroach into their private space and lives with reckless abandon. These are bosses that insist everyone works late, they run the unit like their private empire and no body dares challenge them. The don't care about work-life balance, and don't give a damn if your marriage is crumbling because of your job, all they are concerned about is to meet some impossible-to-meet deadliness. I have read of bosses that send there staff on personal errands, one boss even asked his staff to shave his beards before attending a high powered conference and another asked his staff to deliver his dog poo sample to a vetinery clinic.
There are so many horrible stories. In deed some bosses can really play the God.

Continued here.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Cabin Crew Needed In Arik Air by ProfJYK(m): 1:13pm On Sep 11, 2012
For those questioning the height limits, CC jobs touches on assisting passengers in putting carry on luggage in the overhead stowaway. a 5.2 dude might need a ladder to reach that, while the ladies aided by 6" heels. I think the standard requirement is 212cm to finger tips on tiptoes

the weight part has to do with waste of jet fuel as every extra gram onboard counts. this also affects candidates taller than the requirement as the extra height translates into weight. why have 3 CC weights 110kg each when you can have more weighing 60? airlines jettisoned the use of inflight magazines, blankets, and co. some took out extra seats and even went as far as converting overweight CC to ground staff.

as for appearance, that one no need talk na
