PhonesRe: How Do I Indentify A China Iphone? by ProfJYK(m): 2:40pm On Oct 13, 2011
mrph:
@Chmod,
Thats not entirely thru.
In my over 10 years of GSM repairs, I have not seen a single China phone that doesnt have a 15 digit IMEI by *#06#
mrph:
Most Chinese phones use same software.
So just take a chinese phone, look at the display and note it
When next u see a phone if it displays like that, its most likely its a chinese phone
u are right on point my china fone's gat IMEI. thier screen layout (font type, size and colour scheme) are almost always the same (same software) so just navigate one of em, u wont miss another when u see it work.

The Norwegian embassy handles visa applications to Iceland. Just want to let y'all know that the Norwegian embassy doesn't give visas to undergraduate applicants admitted to Norwegian universities - I don't know about undergraduates admitted to schools in iceland.
shakur01:
Hello NL. Have been following dis thread for quiet a while and now decided to share my experience due to Collinsfb interference/contributions because we both applied last year to same school, but different course. I applied for Icelandic as a Second Language for Foreign Students in other to avoid competitive courses and also hoping to get admitted, because d Icelandic as a Second Language course is meant for Foreign students with Little or No prior knowledge of Icelandic Language and i sent all required documents including Transcripts from last Institution attended, despite all my effort i was still denied with reason stating ''you do not qualify for admission''. As far as am concerned Iceland is a waste of time, when it comes to Students Admission because of their few Universities and thousands of Foreign students that applied annually and dont think Nigerian can be considered for a place. However things might have change now,cuz change is Constant. For those that are preparing to apply,i wish you very best of luck, Thanks
Guys Please shed more light on the Visa and admission rejection so Good Peeps like us who have been waiting for admission season to start applying should please read these posts before committing time and resources into places that will amount to nothing.
TravelRe: Beware Of Chachangi Airways: Their Plane Is A Molue With Wings by ProfJYK(m): 5:37pm On Oct 10, 2011
Okija_juju:
Chachangi is by far the most disorganized airline in Nigeria,

I remember my last flight with them from Lagos to Owerri (then PHC airport was closed for maintainance),  I remember searching for Arik, Aero and Virgin and none was avaliable so the last option was Chachangi,  For starters, I went to the ticket stand to purchase a ticket and was told that the aircraft was fully booked,  Just when I was about to resign and go look for a hotel for the night, one of the Chachangi staff pulls me to the side and says their is a ticket avaliable but at an inflated rate,  I was desperate so I paid,  Problem was it wasnt my name on the ticket and I tried to complain to the man that for accountability reasons it wasnt safe as my name wasnt in the manifest and he just shrugged me off and said I either fly or leave,
Now what I realized was that they had outsourced their tickets to touts who where busy selling Chachangi tickets in front of the airport,  Now it was time to board and on the Airport Tarmac were two planes both heading to Owerri and both scheduled to take off at the same time. They just ushed us out unto the tarmac, told us to join any of the queues after identifying our luggages,  And that was how we boarded the plane "Molue-style",  No kidding!! If any of those planes had gone down, there would have been no way to identify everybody onboard the downed aircraft because the names on the manifest didnt correspond with the passengers on board,  The aircraft looked like crap although I must confess that the flight was smooth from take-off to landing and the on-board food wasnt that bad,

But that said, I will never fly with Chachangi ever again,  Not even as a last option.
have also witnessed such with arik when enugu was down for repairs in 2010 and rerouted to owerri. they had two planes on ground in owerri that were lagos bound (one the original owerri-lag, the other enugu-lag i suppose) and we herded into the closest one without considering the manifest. we complained about luggage loading and we were told it would all be sorted out in lag since it was the same airline. flight was excellent sha

Everything in "August Rush" just softens me up., till date. i am a sucker for soundtracks/scores in movies. enjoy them better, i loose a tear or two in some really touchy scenes purely as a result of the blend of visuals and audio,

Doff my heart for Hans ZImmer, that guy stands out. 2 all time best Hans Zimmer "muziqed" flicks r the holiday(Jude Law, jack black winslet & diaz, brilliant) and the dark night.
PhonesRe: Mobitel , Another Internet Service Scam In Nigeria? by ProfJYK(m): 5:47pm On Oct 06, 2011
Stayed 6 days without browsing 2weeks ago. spent a fortune calling customer service and the lady was dribbling me telling me to turn my device upside down and read out all the numbers written underneath, making it seem like the problem was peculiar to my device only. paid them two hell raising visits at adeola odeku only to find out it was a general problem.

funny thing is that these peeps know they have capacity for 1000 subcribers and will do agressive marketing for 10000 till they cant handle the traffic and there is a mass exodus then they go down like a long list of lag based ISP's.

if them don tire make them tell us. we now nake provisions for mew modems and new ISP's annually
BusinessRe: Is Cyber Cafe Business Going Extinct In Nigeria? by ProfJYK(m): 3:51pm On Sep 30, 2011
mrinfo:
Good question. Most people confuse revenue with profits. Making N30,000 daily from a business doesn't necessarily translate to financial success. What is the mark up? That's the question. Do you have power supply from PHCN all day. What's the cost of your internet connectivity? What of rent? System repair costs? Taxes and revenues charges from state and local governments? Cost of ink refilling for printers and photocopier etc

When you put all this into account you'll find out how much your cafe really makes.

Still I must say, 30,000 to 40,000 is pretty impressive for a cyber cafe (talking from experience)
true story. from my own experience, that's really impressive. unbelievably so considering the fact that i run mine in the "jungle" and have 10 systems(to keep over head low) yet we hit full capacity just 3 hours in a month. maybe because i dont offer night browsing service, but who does that these days?
CrimeRe: ABSU Case: Was It A violation Or Not? by ProfJYK(m): 7:23am On Sep 27, 2011
without insulting anybody, and at the risk of being labelled a pervert/caveman, i will still not jump to defend the girl.
video taping the sex scene is perverted. the mockery in their voice also shows perversion of incomprehensible order.
threathening to keep her for two more days is also wrong. according to the definition of violation in the OP, it is violation, but then so will about 40% of sexual activities in the world be.
some one had already mentioned some acts of Sadism & Masochism above favoured by some pple and that is enough.

i didnt watch more than 4 mins of the video but one thing i couldn't miss was a slight hint of consent. the victim spoke to them like they rapists were her everyday buddy.

heard a story in a Lagos Hood of a girl consenting to "do" 5 guys only to give in 40 minutes into the act, the guys reluctantly agreed.

and all this story about rape victims and trauma is overrated somehow. some years ago, i stayed in a hostel where we had a robbery attack in which two girls were raped but till date, no guy in the hostel knows them as things were back to every ones life in a week. even when the school authority came to carry out investigation, hostel authorities did the right thing, swept it under cos everyone wanted to just forget that experiences. still cant forget the bravery and composure of the students in that hostel. and yes, it was a university in the southeast.

above all, i call for proper investigation.

Excellent observation, a lot of fliers have not yet known that airplanes are usually pulled (or towed) to make backward movement, but those who know about aircrafts are aware that airplanes do not have reverse gears like land vehicles have.
actually they can reverse but it takes almost the same power needed for take off to reverse a jet. the same countries that started towing jets to thier final position to save fuel and cut down emmission will laugh at us when we humbly obey. airlines even power (electric) thier planes from the airports till they are ready to taxi away. thier cost cutting measures are unbelievable. as far as pink-slipping cabin crew members based on thier body wieght. immagine.
TravelRe: Local Airlines Raise Fares By 50% by ProfJYK(m): 7:43am On Jul 20, 2011
i am a big supporter of capitalism but seeing how much Bi-Courtney and Maevis are bleeding air travellers, i dont think we are ready for it. Maevis gets about 30percent of revenue collected for FAAN. immagine 30percent. with Bi-Courtney as concessionaires for Lagos Ibadan exp way, land travel will witness its own price hike.

See big babes and guys begging for lifts after using thier taxi fare for PSC.

una dey complain about the "foul" fresh fresh air when the airconditioner just they warm up, wait let it get to full steam. maybe then the bush meat will really make attempts at catching the hunter
TravelRe: Local Airlines Raise Fares By 50% by ProfJYK(m): 7:31am On Jul 20, 2011
Reference:
Said it times without number that air transport is a fish out of water in Nigeria. It is just too sophisticated for us to manage. The reasons are simple. Everywhere in the world air transport is driven by the economy and supported by extensive infrastructure both public and private which we don't have. When the economy goes up airlines become marginally profitable. When there is a downturn they merge or collapse in debt. And when I mean economy I mean travel for business or pleasure (to do deals or head to the beach) we cannot afford either. The Nigerian economy has never really improved so i don't expect the airline industry to develop. That is why the high turnover of airlines, that is why incident liabilities such as insurance payments cripple them. A bad accident and its all over. Unfortunately its has also been the grave yard for the loot of many a political office holders and patrons, too many to mention. It has never been a serious business.

Now that airlines have upped the ante (not altogether because of high aviation fuel but also because banks have to call back the massive amounts of cash - they too have to survive in the face of dwindling handouts by their wealthy shadowy patrons) it spells the death knell for most of them. First, it will only cut the number of those traveling by air and make the cost of doing business for those who remain loyal much higher. Certainly not what you want to do at this time when the economy remain weak. And as the planes empty the average number of planes per airline may fall further leading to larger over heads and a vicious downward cycle.

I've said it before the only way out is for airlines to voluntarily merge or the government should compel them to more stringent operational conditions such as cutting unprofitable routes, setting a minimum limit to the number of seats each airline is permitted to operate daily and investing in infrastructure to eliminate these foreign trips for services. It will be difficult to bring all of them on board and overcome certain egos but the reality is plain before them.
YYOU HAVE SAID IT ALL. I have even been wondering how they have been coping in an economy like this till our honourable minister told us that Kerosene (subsidised Aviation Fuel) for our food is being illegally diverted to fly our big men at affordable rates while the vast majority cant even eat well cooked beans.

i once saw an arik plane fly with 11 passengers , i was alarmed till a friend told me it was a usual occurence as they dont do rebates and promos, even with thier poor ancillary drives, they are still flying.

it is often said that it is cheaper to keep them birds(planes) in the sky than to keep them sitting around at airports and dats the main reason airlines try to keep turn around time at the minimum allowed. One thing cretins like you fail to mention is that the largest employer of these corp members is in the educational sector. Corpers prop up a huge percentage of our rural education. 'Corporate Nigeria'? Are you sure you've really served?
please stop the name calling okay.
i served in a capital city but had friends from camp posted to do your supposed rural education/medification/everything else living in the urban areas all through their service year, going back only for clearance or when there was news of headcounts. if there is no incentives to teach or stay in the rural areas(Rivers and Lagos for example) then how do u make it compusory. even the L.I's and A.I's always had a reason to be in the capital city, leaving thier jobs.

ps. u can ask for the meaning of L.I A.I and Z.I if u dont know from 1 who didnt serve as u alleged.

quite true (Except maybe teachers)
every office secretariat complexes(mostly in the North) are well furnished with TV's (nothing good on their stations o) and empty refrigerators running from the meagerly 3600 megawatts that should power industries. civil servants come in at 10am and leave 1pm sometimes not even coming for weeks. and we are wondering y recurrent expenditure is 2.9 trillion compared with 1.8-ish capital. if we dont get it right now, wen will we?

PoliticsRe: Replace Nysc With Mandatory Military Service. by ProfJYK(m): 6:57am On Jul 08, 2011
NYSC as it is now is just cheap labour for slave drivers (corporate Nigeria) or "Baa Aiki" for the Civil Service and has shoulda been scrapped 20 years as it is now an obsolete technology for national re-integration. I served in the north and the population of southerners there was impressive and they were definitely not corpers and thier reasons for living there are not remotely connected to the scheme.
