Nairaland / General / The Legend Of Unpaid Salaries And The Plight Of Kogi Workers by promixdavinci(m): 3:14pm On Nov 01, 2018 |
Despite official silence on the receipt of N13.5billion Paris Club refund paid into Kogi State government account, the fact is well known to all. Whether Governor Yahaya Bello announce this officially or not, we are also aware that the money was release based on an agreement to use 70% of the funds to pay workers and pensioners their emoluments. The official silence only confirm our fears that the Legend of Unpaid Salaries is not willing to part away with 70% of the Paris Club refund for ‘only workers’. 70% of the fund is just N9.45billion. I intentionally leave out the last two allocations received without payment of salaries before October. We know the only achievement during these two months was APC primaries. It was an expensive project. Aside the recent windfall, the state government got N4.2billion barely a week ago as statutory monthly allocation. That means N17.7billion is cooling off in Kogi state government account. Even with the spurious claims by the state government that the monthly wage bill is N2.8billion, Yahaya Bello can safely pay 6 months salary to ALL workers with enough change to play around with. Is it not curious that despite owing hundreds of workers about 30months salary arrears just because their names are not GYB Cleared List the government is still claiming they pay N2.8billion as monthly salary? This is a huge joke! Two weeks ago, they raise the hopes of workers that salaries will be paid this week. That was immediately after collecting N4.2billion allocation. This week will end tomorrow but the Legend of Unpaid Salaries is yet to pay a single dime to any worker. Between the time they promised and now, they have received additional N13.5billion as Paris Club refund. Why is Yahaya Bello always finding it difficult to do the right thing? If a major political activity comes up today, Yahaya Bello will dole out humongous funds to show he is ‘in charge’. Who bewitched this young man? Who did we offend in Kogi state? The state of workers in the state is worrisome. Most of them are now battling with one ailment or the other due to frustration. Go to public and private hospitals around the state and you ill confirm this. The doctors in public hospitals are attending to them on empty stomach. Traders are selling their products on credit with no assurance that the buyers will pay anytime soon. Privates schools now allow payment of school fees on installment – payable when able. Many have taken their cars to butchers in Lokoja (around Dunamis bridge and Kabawa-Galilee area) who dismantle their cars and sell it part by part. What is the essence of driving a car when your children are at home because you can’t pay their school fees? How will a worker feed his/her family and maintain a car at the same time? Kogi indigenes living outside the state are understandably tired of the unending cries for assistant from the relatives who work under Kogi state government and local governments. They are beginning to doubt their fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, uncles and aunties who constantly beg to financial assistance to cater for basic needs. These God-fearing Kogi indigenes who work outside the state deserves commendation because they have saved thousands of lives in Kogi. But for their regular assistance, Kogi state will be a mass grave yard by now. The question I will like to ask Yahaya Bello today is; how many more civil servants have to die before you pay their salary? |

Nairaland / General / Kogi: World Oldest Goat Dies At 35 by promixdavinci(m): 9:25am On Feb 25, 2017 |
It sounds or look funny to some people but it’s worthy of note. Have we ever wondered why we haven’t found ourselves in the Guinness book of records? It’s because we neglect those things that ought to put us there. History has it that the oldest goat ever lived was McGinty it lived for 22years 5months but today a goat called Mama Goat in Anyigba Kogi State died at 34 years 11 months and 23days breaking the records of McGinty. I do hope this finds it’s way to the Guinness world records. The goat called Mama Goat, owned by Hajia Rekiat, died at her residence, somewhere along Agala-Ogane road Anyigba Kogi State, in the Dekina Local government area. The goat died after a brief illness suspected to be from old age. Hajia Rekiat who confirmed that she bought the goat with her first salary at the then Benue State now Kogi State civil service in appreciation to her first pay will be retiring in March 1st, 2017 said that her father who was a hunter reared so many animals but never has she seen or heard of any animal who clucked 20 talk more of attaining such age as Mama G. She expressed sadness adding that she had intentionally kept and protected the animal as a remembrance of her first pay in the civil service, she said, she could have consumed or sold it but let it live because of the exceptional qualities and memory behind it. Mama Goat understands and responds to her local language and of course the mother of all her existing goats. In her words she said it dawned on me to express this haven seen the importance of appreciating God almighty for his unique ways and also using this medium to express to our people that it’s now time we celebrate our things in unique ways. If we don’t air, how will they know?. |
Politics / Don’t Build Castles In The Air, Emir Of Kano Counsels Kogi Gov by promixdavinci(m): 5:22pm On Feb 09, 2017 |
"I am not happy with what am hearing about you, how do you ensure security when you are not paying workers salaries? Emir Muhammadu Sanusi of Kano has urged Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello not to build the castles in the air and advised against unfulfilled promises. The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria said this during a ceremony where Kogi Governor was given an award by the Inspector General of Police in recognition of his qualities and his efforts at improving security in the state. After congratulating Gov. Bello on the award, the Emir said; “I am not happy with what am hearing about you, how do you ensure security when you are not paying workers salaries ?” “I am here because the Inspector General of Police, the man who performed well in Kano, invited me. As a traditional ruler, I don’t embrace political gathering”, he said. |

Health / Re: Quality Body Building Supplements, Where To Get Them by promixdavinci(m): 7:09pm On Jul 11, 2016 |
okay, if you are certain about working out then look for casilan 90,it's a high protein supplement that would both improve your appetite and help provide the amino acids your body needs to build muscle. Alternatively, You can look for creatine capsules, it's also a muscle builder and if you are dedicated to your workout, you will notice difference in as little as 2-3 weeks. Any good pharmacy store should have either one of them.tnx 4 d post, i hv learn one or two tinz, pls try to reply if u see my quote..i wil nid ur help..tnx |

Politics / Eid-el Fitr: Gov Yahaya Bello Dodged Lokoja Praying Ground Over Attack Threats by promixdavinci(m): 1:27pm On Jul 07, 2016 |
This is a fact...... AYB sneaked out to pray elsewhere based on security tip. By Amuda Dan Sulaiman FAB The governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello plan to join other Muslim faithfuls to pray at the Lokoja Eid Central Praying Ground to perform this year Eid-El Fitr prayers, was abruptly canceled. A government source, yesterday, told this reporter that Bello will be going to Okene to perform his prayers. The cancellation is not unconnected to security threats to the governor from irate workers who had threatened to attack him should he step foot on the central praying ground. It would be recalled that since the creation of Kogi State in 1991, no Muslim governor has ever perform Eid-El Fitri prayers outside Lokoja, the state capital. Recall that the ongoing strike by workers in Kogi State has grounded government activities and other operations including financial sector. The strike, which began last week Monday, was called by leaders of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and their Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, counterpart, following alleged decision of the state government to open salary accounts for the state workers in Zenith bank, while that of local government workers were opened in Access bank without the knowledge of the workers who only received bank opening statement alerts, asking them to visit the banks for account reconciliation. |
