Politics / Re: Labour Submits N615,000 Minimum Wage Demand In Fresh Proposal by pseudonomer: 7:54am On Apr 14
Minimum wage refers to the lowest salary that an employer is legally required to pay their workers in Nigeria. For example, this means you cannot pay your maid, driver, or salesperson less than 600k/month. This regulation applies not only to government employees but to all workers, which is why some consider it unrealistic.

What are you people even saying? My friend does care work and makes £11 an hour. She works 40 hours a week. That’s £440 a week and £1760 a month. In a year she will be collecting £21,120. Using the current exchange rate that’s over 33 million Naira.

If she decides to work two jobs (like some guys I know here do) she can easily net over 40 million a year.

You may not grasp these concepts fully. There’s a significant disparity between gross pay and net pay. Gross pay refers to what you earn on paper, while net pay is the actual amount credited to your account. Regarding your friend, I’m not entirely sure of his/her tax situation, but I estimate your friend can only make around £1,100 to £1,300 per month, depending on the tax class.

Another 40hrs second job is not feasible, and also remember UK uses progressive tax, the more you make, the more your tax rate.

many are mad, few are roaming.

Driver - at least 60k salary
Maid - at least 50k salary
one Other domestic staff - at least 50k
Oga boss balance after above expenses- 40k

So oga boss is left with 40k to feed himself and fuel his car for that month? Allen must have just received a Mouth Gig before going on air. His brain never calibrate.

With £2k monthly salary in UK, you can’t afford to hire a driver, maid or any domestic staff.

Dumpster diving is not a new thing.

Even some “comfortable” Americans do it from what I’ve seen.
Most supermarket chains abe department stores are notorious for tossing perfectly good items and edible food just because of regulations and of course for profit. They rather discard than donate it to shelters. So they can claim the loss on their taxes.

Some even resell the items they dumpster dived.

The society is structured to benefit big firms, ensuring they don’t incur losses. The issue lies on the poor individuals bearing the cost of health problems, despite visible warnings against consuming these products. Therefore, you can not to pursue legal action. Additionally, healthy food is affordable abroad, but refugees often pay the price.

hi guys I need advice
I'm already in a bleeped up situation and I don't know what to do so I need some advice. so I moved to the Netherlands for my bachelor's degree in marketing I've been here for 1yrs and some months now and with the naira rate I've been unable to pay my tuition for some months now plus I couldn't take my exams because I was de-registered. now my school told IND(the immigration ) about my situation and I'm being asked to leave the Netherlands. so all my resources from the beginning is just gone plus I didn't even get the degree I initially came for.im not ready to move back home especially now that things are getting worse.
I'm just really sad right now and don't know what to do. I need help 😭

You could have moved to Germany when you had the opportunity. Germany is tuition free, and it will never be this worse, I have a friend who left Netherlands for Germany.

Can you talk to immigration lawyer in Netherlands, there’s always a way to overturn this stuffs.

Don't bother with Germany except you want to leave Nigeria 2027 or 2028 especially if you didn't graduate with first class in the last two years. If you get a scholarship in the US and a visa go and start working on the NIW immediately you land.

2027/2028? Overestimating? If you book an appointment now, you’d be in Germany 2025/2026.

Okay, But the ones I see getting it didn't get any job offer.

It’s prolly Job seeker visa, for this, you don’t need a job offer.

For a job visa, you need to have a job offer.

Which one is work visa? Or you mean Job seeker visa?

For work visa, you need to get a work in portugal first before you can apply for work visa.

Job seeker visa is not cheap also. You need a health insurance that is worth 30,000 euros for you to apply.

I wonder how they think a job seeker will raise 30k euros. If I have that amount, wetin I dey find go Portugal.

I guess, to be worth 30k€ doesn’t mean you'd pay 30k for it; it means the policy should be able to cover incidents up to 30k€.

Is it safe to travel from Cotonou to London as a Nigerian? Also, what are the difficulties one tends to encounter, and what to be and not to be done to have a smooth journey from Lagos to Cotonou airport and London? Hope their immigration is not corrupt or does one need to settle at the airport to board?
It’s safe, just make sure you stamp your passport at the Benin/Nigeria border.

Good day house pls I have a question... assuming I travel to Germany on a study visa and then like 4 or 6 months after I get there I decide to switch to Ausbildung, is it possible to do that without having to come back to Nigeria to apply for Ausbildung again?...your answers are much appreciated in advance.

Yes, you can and you don’t have to come back to Nigeria.

Ausbildung is a full time occupation and as student you can't work full time because your student work permit doesn't allow that. to do Ausbildung, you finish your studies, get your 18 months job search permit. with it you can do the Ausbildung.

No, with the new immigration law in place for the past two years, he can switch to an Ausbildung, provided he has B1/B2 proficiency. An Ausbildung isn't solely full-time work; you also have to attend classes.

Hello everyone, I recently learned about Category A (student visa) for Germany studies. Fortunately, I fall into this category.
I am however weary of the (terribly) long waiting period for Visa application. Any advice/tips
I plan on joining for summer studies, picked up a little German too.

Thanks in anticipation!

If you fall into category A, the waiting time is less than 3 months, even within a month, you should get an appointment.

Please house, he has spent almost 2 months waiting for his visa in abj, even though he paid for priority, yet he was delayed for almost 6 weeks before the school cancelled the admission.

Here's is the problem, he's tired of Abuja but he hasn't been contacted to come and pick his passport, tls is not even helping.

Can he use courier to pickup his passport? He didn't request for delivery on the application day.

If your friend paid for courier service, his/her passport would be sent back to his/her address.

Superstition and illiteracy will kill some Nigerians before Bandits and accident.

An Owl is now a strange bird?

I will like to taste the O.P brand of alcohol.

It’s not about Nigeria, and it’s not a sign of illiteracy to be wary of owls.

In ancient America and even in Greek mythology, the owl is a symbol of death, often accompanying the god of death. It’s considered a bad omen if they come visiting you.

To be honest, Germany immigration seems harder for Nigerians due to our bad reputation in that country, I remember their government warning that Nigerians would face tougher immigration hurdles before all these their shakara started.

Nigerians don’t have a bad reputation in Germany, especially among those who migrated legally. In fact, Nigerians have a good reputation. I can’t speak for the “Aduros” (those who came through asylum).

What’s happening here is the fact that many Nigerians are applying for student visas, and Germany usually has a quota for visas to be issued within a specific period. For instance, Germany has a quota of no more than 1000 marriage reunion visas to be issued worldwide in a month, and this information is publicly stated. I’m sure there is a similar quota system for student visas as well. What this means is that the visas would be rationed.

Germany has a weird legal immigration control system that makes legal migration quite challenging and frustrating, but it appears to reward illegal immigration, making it relatively easy. This is a sad reality.

It’s not significantly more expensive; it’s about a €50 difference. The S23 Ultra is priced at €1399, while the 15 Pro Max is at €1449. Prices can vary depending on where you are buying from.

So what's special about iOS for someone to pay 1 million naira for?

All flagship Android phones are as expensive as iPhones. The reason why many focus on iPhones is that Apple doesn’t produce mid-range or low-range iPhones, unlike Samsung, Xiaomi, and others. For example, the Samsung S23 Ultra is slightly more expensive than the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Samsung, Google Pixel, LG, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Sony, and others have flagship phones that are often as expensive as iPhones, and sometimes even more so.
