There is no contradiction here at all. First let us consider the issue of faith - Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

When the bible talks about "works", it makes 2 clear distinctions:
1. works/deeds of the law - Merely following the law WITHOUT salvation will take you no where. Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

2. works of faith - this is a complement to faith and is only applicable to a believer. In lay man terms, there are attributes expected of a christian; love, kindness, willing to help, generous e.t.c. It is those works that James was talking about and not the works of the law.

James 2: 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Here is what James says in essence, it is not enough to be saved or to have faith, if you dont help ur fellow brother or sister then of what value is that faith you claim to have?

22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

Your works of faith must complement your faith, without faith your works are like filthy rags.

You can be saved anywhere. Zacheus was saved on a tree, Peter recieved salvation on a fishing boat, Paul was saved on the way to Damascus . . . Unlike in islam, christians are not saved by the works of their hands. There are no man made traditions of what we must do to earn eternal life, for;

Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Here is all we have to do in a nutshell - Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

I know u're probably wondering is that all? Yes dear. I dont have to knock my head on the pavement 5 times, take a pilgrimage to jerusalem, pay zakat, or starve myself for one month only to binge eat at night while pretending to be fasting to qualify as a candidate for heaven.

from most of the posts here it seems air travel in Nigeria is more of a near death experience. I've flown in light snow a couple of times and the only issue is probably a bit more noise, extra turbulence and the inconvenience of having ur seat belt on longer than usual.

try flying a good 3-4hrs over vast stretches of the mediteranean sea on the Lagos-Europe flights (KLM). Beautiful experience though a bit scary because u're thinking, if anything happens u're going into the sea and i cant swim!

that fellow is handsome for the following reasons:

1. he is probably not 100% black but is a mix of both african and caucasian genes. Many African Americans are and that's why you dont see many full blooded Africans with such chiseled features.

Dancevic is another great player in the making, made Nadal sweat for this match. Not totally comfortable with Nadal's level of play in this game, Federer would have required far less time to see off Dancevic. But great defence from Nadal, he's improved his serves, didnt drop a single first serve in the last set, gave away only 1 of 10 break points, very few unforced errors and a couple of impressive aces.

He will find Djoko a bit tougher but i see him getting through in three sets. I dont think he can beat a charged Federer in the final though.
