Fashion / Re: Pls I Need Advice On Lingerie Business by pufectskin: 4:37am On Jun 07, 2012
Thank u. I hv an online business dat is doin not too bad right now, but I grew it from selling at home...so perhaps dats y I have a following dat trusts my business enough to pay online. E-business is startin to pick up in Naija and it can only get better. Only problem is am not really sure Nigerians (with d goodie 2 shoes mbehavior of many girls) are ready to explore their sensual sides more to the extent that the lingerie business would pick up online. Anyway as u said, I would nEed to do a feasibility study.
Lexusgs430: Good luck with your proposed venture. The idea of strictly selling online has its negatives and positives, ie not having a high street presence, working from home, little or no staffing cost, saving cost of shops, fittings etc etc etc
But the Nigerian framework is not yet ready for this shopping experience. Majority of Nigerians like to feel and rub their onions, in your case pants, bras and sexy lingerie
Hope you study and understand your proposed clientele range before you venture in, feasibility study is key!!!

Thanks, US-AutoBuy, I am lookin for smtg not too old, perhaps 2009 upwards since I would probably drive it for 3 3 to 5yrs.
US-AutoBuy:
Hi,

Its kinda hard to know how "new" or "old" you want your car to be. but a 1999-2001 CRV is a perfect fit. Expect to drop like N1.3 on the average for a good one.

As for the RAV4, i will suggest a 2004-2005. Expect to drop like N2.2 on the average.

I will advise to to stay away from 2001 - 2003 RAV4, they are PRONE to gear/transmission issues.

Good luck out there.

Regards

They don't go to paris weekly; I believe its every 2 weeks or 2 months for service. But I am not entirely sure (but there is d number 2). Of course goin weekly wouldn't be competitive.
Prof JYK: @Jadedola, Overland is quieter cos the use Prop engines. To b honest, going to Paris weekly (esp. with turbo/props) is not feasible as it would drain the resources of the airlines. the frequent checks A&B can b done in Naija or in d ECOWAS sub region. the six planes in the Overland fleet r all regional have ranges to b in excess of 600 miles(1000km). do you know how many layovers lie between lagos and paris at every 600mile interval? where is d profit? also turboprops don't need as much maintainance as jet engines.

But Prof, they were flown into naij, right? It is tru that those planes don't fly at high altitude, thus makes such long journeys uncomfy. But they certainly can fly to Paris.

Wow! Onchedu, thanks so much for your detailed response. D fact that there r very few posts already supports your opinion on this.
I talked to a few ppl around too and pretty much said d samethg u said.
It looks like to do well in dis business, one would have to do a lot of education on importance of looking very desirable or sexy in bed. I mean all dese women claimin to hv cheating spouses might get more attention if dey looked a little nuttier in bed. Even my grandma recently told me grandpa has been buyin her sexier underwear lately (she was wearin regular undies until he came home with very young lookin sexy panties lately). Yes! Dats how important this things r to men. I just wish I wouldn't have to spend so much on marketing since a lot of ppl aren't into this in naij.
As per price, I have some links to direct manufacturers for d likes of Lasenza, etc and I can get good quality such dat I can sell at 2000 to 3000 naira range. But I need to be sure dere is a mkt. I guess based on ur report, dere isn't much of an immediate mkt.
Onchedu: Ok, since it's accepting posts now, lemme make another attempt.

A lingerie biz in Nigeria could be a tricky one. Reason being not many women would agree on the affordability of the exotic, tasteful and classy high end variety the designers of these accesories/ornaments provide.
On the low end, designer exotic panties can go for like N3,500 a piece. With a matching bra at about N6,500 where included, that brings the cost of just a set to N10,000. That's what many people consider as expensive probably because they would rather spend that on what everyone can see and compliment then on than on what primarily just two people (self and lover) should see.

The key point to consider then would be Value. What value do typical Nigerian women attach to sexy lingerie?

It's easier to get a girl Ur toasting to appreciate sexy lingerie than it is to get a gf or wife to. The former thinks ''wow! This is cool. Looks so good on me... He's so nutty. i like!''
while the other two will tend to think along the lines of ''thanks, but wasn't it too expensive?'' I don't know any man who appreciates having his gifts criticised as being too expensive.

Give them the money to buy it, show them where to buy it and most would rather go get some cheap stuff or something entirely different assuming a guy can't tell. I've met one out of 20 Nigerian girls who would allow herself spend on exotic lingerie. The rest just go for the stuff ranging from N150-N1200. If Urs will be more expensive than that then U need to include re-educating the public on the value of quality lingerie.

Anyway, fact is not many Nigerian girls tend to pay attention to their collection of underwear especially from the school of thought of seduction and/or personal ego boost with respect to appreciation of body form. In their minds they probably assume men are too in a hurry to get to the main thing we don't notice. If only they knew better.

Start there.

Because I believe women should be pretty darn sexy kittens in their matrimonial homes.
Also I just believe women shld feel sexy and beautiful all the time cos I thiink it brings out the best in us. But my dilemma is; I don't want to be sooo passionate about dis dat I completely lose focus on d practicality of it (i.e can I make some pretty good money in this?).
Basically all orders would b online...
I want to know how much girls r willin to pay for good quality bra, panties, sleepwear, etc?
How often do u change underwear? Do u consider ur man in this matter? And men, would you like to see fresh new underwear on your woman often? How often?

Pls help everyone...both guys and gals advice welcome.

Pls can u say why it is not a good idea? Give reasons. But note that the money stated is not just for creating the website. It includes money that would be used to buy the stock of diff types of lingerie, cartons for posting, first 6 month salaries of 2 employees to monitor online sales, update d website regularly and pack goods to be posted around nigeria. Fashion / How Often Do U Buy New Bra And Panties/lingerie by pufectskin: 12:55am On Jun 01, 2012
I want to go into self branded lingerie business for the naija market. Quality would be similar to that of Vic Secrets, La Senza or Boux Avenue, but price would be slightly cheaper to accommodate different buying groups in naija (students, young professionals, teenagers). But does any one have an idea how well Nigerian girls buy underwear; I mean like how often they change or buy new underwear. I have a feeling not too often cos I have been seeing women with old lookin undies slipping through the sides of their tops. I usually recommend changin underwear every 2 to 3 months as Nigeria is too hot n ppl get so sweaty to be using the same underwear for too long.
So does anyone have an idea of bra/lingerie/panties buying patterns? Also how much are they willin to spend max on these? Or in short does any1 have a feasibility study on these?

Cheers

U r right on the money.
It is only someone who has
experienced living in both countries
dat would fully understand. Quote author=Bandit C.]

Unlike you, i do not pledge allegiance to any country, even though i possessed their passports not even Nigeria. My allegiance lies only to a region off the east banks of the Niger river.

That being said, i speak from a non-biased point of view when i am evaluating these western countries. I am not here to pull you and your love of England down. I just wanna let you know that if you sincerely believe that England is a better country all-round than say USA, Germany, Switzerland, Finland and so on,you have zero experience on Europe and the Americas. One of the reasons i left England was due to the backwardness of the country. It is like they are stuck in time and do not wanna let go of the middle ages.

Technologically, England is a mess. You would not be surprised to witness toilets with pull-down pumps in 2012 or water faucets you have to screw and unscrew to make the tap run.

Your so called health system is a sham and laughable at best. Want to see what a free healthcare system looks like, try Norway or Germany and you would understand.

England is good for Nigerians who are already indoctrinated in Nigeria about how posh ''jand'' is and who have zero experience about how far ahead other countries are in comparison to England but for people like me who know better, England still remains the refuse dump of western Europe.

I would give it to England though in terms of diversity but for wealth, better social lives and system and tech. advancement, you people are still stuck in time.

Don't you people still ration electricity in 2012? lol.[/quote]
Foreign Affairs / Re: Why Is England More Developed And Stable Than America? by pufectskin: 9:29am On May 27, 2012
@poster, u made statements but don't back up ur comments with any statistics or evidence.
I lived in both US and UK; got my undergrad degree in US and Masters in the UK, I also worked briefly in both countries so I believe I can assert one or two things.
UK is incredibly behind and stands no chance at all when compared to the US.
The GDP per capita of UK is way behind US and the standard of living is incredibly beind that of US.
In fact, sometimes I wonder why UK is called developed. Well, it is developed sha to say the truth but there are still so many things in that country that remind one of Nigeria (by d way, I left UK cos I couldn't cope in the country, I just felt better leaving).
I ll give an example; in UK, it takes atleast 1 week to open a bank account and I have friends dat took 3 weeks; dats pretty much like naija style (very slow and inefficient). In the US, even as a foreign student, it took me 20mins to open a bank account. Banking services is not d only slow service in the UK. Their customer service is just as tardy and annoying as what you would get in naija.
And have u been to any UK airports?; where it takes atleast 2hrs to clear customs, and takes few minutes in the US.
The employment market in UK is also terribly worse and d only reason Americans look like they r having d worst problem is cos Americans are extremely vocal and would make noise about the smallest problem. Americans r used to d good life...if dey have a small itch on their hand; there medicines to fix dat. If dey
r mistreated by their boss, dere r laws to help out. If dey see a rat in a restaurant, dey can go to d couurts to prove why they got food poisoning. There is total equality in d US; atleast America spends a fortune tryin to make sure dat is possible.
With d unproductive monarchy and all, uk is hardly equal and there r just so many unneceSsary spendin I d UK dat makes it hell to live in for d average person. D Uni toilets were usually a mess (and I went to a top 7 UK uni not just any uni). The streets were hardly as neat compared to US. Buses and trains hardly as neat.
Let's not even talk of pay; d avg US undegrad workin in a invesmtnt banks starts with around $70k salary , but in the UK, its about £28k to £32k. And d tax is incredibly high. In d US once u pay for internet u use it unlimited, uk does d whole 10mb or 20mb crap and charge u ridiculously for it. Is dat not lower standard of living or what?
13volts: We had a very long discussion on this issue in office today. England as a country is no2t known to have any mineral resources, I hardy see any manufactured product MADE IN ENGLAND despite the fact that they are our colonial master. The only major investment in Nigeria that is traced to England is BP.

My questions are;
1. Why do we have less poor people in England compared to America.
2. Without a huge manufacturing base like in America, China, Germany or Japan. How do the British manage to sustain a vibrant economy and at the same time avoid the recession ravaging Europe and America?
3. We have many blacks in England, they hardy made their presence known globally except in the EPL. Most noticeable black personalities in the world are from America, in music, movies, sport and what have you. Are the blacks in England marginalized or what? why are they not making waves as their counterparts in America?

Its just plain old gooid fun...this is a job for her remember? She makes money doing all these blogging thin
dare2think: I wonder if Linda Ikeji is married?

She has the wrong perception of marriage and fits very well into the caucus of hungry Nigerian girls that seek vanity rather than wisdom or contentment.

The only 'cheap' person is Linda, because her mentality is really sad.

Oh wow am impressed! Didn't know we had men who like to be fit in naij.
I am actually a girl but I am majorly into protein mostly
because I am naturally very skinny. We all are in my family (high metabolism).
Only thing that helps me keep a healthy 118lbs (I am 5ft 5) on is Optimum Nutrition's
Seriou Mass or Mass Bleep by GNC.
I guess its a healthy way to add weight since I am only adding lean mass; i.e muscle not fat.

I am wondering how big the market is for protein though.
Anyways, cheers guys

Politics / What Made America GREAT (this Should Be On The Front Page). by pufectskin: 3:58pm On May 08, 2012
Nigerians need inspiration like this:

"From the very beginning, the American dream meant proving to all mankind that freedom, justice, human rights and democracy were no utopia but were rather the most realistic policy there is and the most likely to improve the fate of each and every person.

America did not tell the millions of men and women who came from every country in the world and who—with their hands, their intelligence and their heart—built the greatest nation in the world: "Come, and everything will be given to you." She said: "Come, and the only limits to what you'll be able to achieve will be your own courage and your own talent." America embodies this extraordinary ability to grant each and every person a second chance.

Here, both the humblest and most illustrious citizens alike know that nothing is owed to them and that everything has to be earned. That's what constitutes the moral value of America. America did not teach men the idea of freedom; she taught them how to practice it. And she fought for this freedom whenever she felt it to be threatened somewhere in the world. It was by watching America grow that men and women understood that freedom was possible.

What made America great was her ability to transform her own dream into hope for all mankind."
And below a speech from President Nicholas of France
Ladies and Gentlemen,

The men and women of my generation heard their grandparents talk about how in 1917, America saved France at a time when it had reached the final limits of its strength, which it had exhausted in the most absurd and bloodiest of wars.

The men and women of my generation heard their parents talk about how in 1944, America returned to free Europe from the horrifying tyranny that threatened to enslave it.

Fathers took their sons to see the vast cemeteries where, under thousands of white crosses so far from home, thousands of young American soldiers lay who had fallen not to defend their own freedom but the freedom of all others, not to defend their own families, their own homeland, but to defend humanity as a whole.
Fathers took their sons to the beaches where the young men of America had so heroically landed. They read them the admirable letters of farewell that those 20-year-old soldiers had written to their families before the battle to tell them: "We don't consider ourselves heroes. We want this war to be over. But however much dread we may feel, you can count on us." Before they landed, Eisenhower told them: "The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you."

And as they listened to their fathers, watched movies, read history books and the letters of soldiers who died on the beaches of Normandy and Provence, as they visited the cemeteries where the star-spangled banner flies, the children of my generation understood that these young Americans, 20 years old, were true heroes to whom they owed the fact that they were free people and not slaves. France will never forget the sacrifice of your children.

To those 20-year-old heroes who gave us everything, to the families of those who never returned, to the children who mourned fathers they barely got a chance to know, I want to express France's eternal gratitude.

On behalf of my generation, which did not experience war but knows how much it owes to their courage and their sacrifice; on behalf of our children, who must never forget; to all the veterans who are here today and, notably the seven I had the honor to decorate yesterday evening, one of whom, Senator Inouye, belongs to your Congress, I want to express the deep, sincere gratitude of the French people. I want to tell you that whenever an American soldier falls somewhere in the world, I think of what the American army did for France. I think of them and I am sad, as one is sad to lose a member of one's family."
