HEy! Wats up. Just got bck too about a year now. Let's hook up. mygirrl: I completely agree with the poster, I came back like 5 months ago after all the promises i'm yet to find a job, despite the fact that i worked for 2 years before coming back. I find it insulting that companies want to take me as a fresher (when i graduated close to six years ago). I know what is inside my head and i strongly believe that if given a chance i can make a difference but its Nigeria we are talking about. I have already made up my mind to start up something small and see how far it can grow by the grace of God. I don't blame many Nigerians abroad for refusing to come back. |

yea, not fat, huh? She is definitely overweight according to d BMI index. And if she is not fat, she definitely looks bloated in that dress or it looks too tight on her. she doesnt look like she can breathe/comfy in that dress |
Fashion / Re: Toke Makinwa Vs Nse Ikpe-Etim: Who Wore This Dress Better... by pufectskin: 7:45pm On Dec 22, 2012 |
first of all, d first girl is tooo fat for the dress she is wearing. the load of feathers look too bulky on an already bulky chic. Also the fact that her boobs r falling doesnt make it flatterin on her either. Toke has a nice body, and d dress looks good on her but a different pose would have been better with d dress. you dont wear a cocktail/dinner gown like dat and then pose like Shiqueeeda/a club stripper with ur hands on d side in an angle like dat. anyways, dey both cute women in their own way, but need better stylists. |

Career / Re: CISA Certification And Accounting In Nigeria by pufectskin: 9:35pm On Dec 02, 2012 |
Hi Wesley80, here is a good place to start to get more info on what a CISA is and what CISA holders usually do for companies where they work; https://itauditsecurity./2012/10/02/top-10-it-auditor/ A CFA is in a totally different area from a CISA, but perhaps you can combine both experiences to work somewhere, but they are really very different. Many ppl confuse an IT Auditor with a Finance Auditor (accounting degree holders do this), but they are far different. An IT auditor works to make sure Technology systems are secure and risk is minimized but a finance auditor makes sure financial discrepancies are in check. goodluck wesley80: |
Romance / Re: How Can One Identify A Pretending Partner??? by pufectskin: 3:37pm On Dec 02, 2012 |
Any nairalanders in Tampa Florida would know this story; There is dis very successful nigerian pharmacist in Florida. He even owns a nite club where all d big ballers in the NFL, NBA go to when they are playing in town. And all d big boys in tampa just go there to chill. He owns a couple of other businesses too...every1 always wondered why the police were always on his case. This guy has been taped, arrested, tasered, interogated by florida police so manty times dat it got to a point he was arrested at about 6am one morning. He was so messed up by police dat nigerians were always gossiping about him being in drugs or some kind f fraud. But the police always left him because there was just no strong evidence against him. we just found out dat his wife of over 15yrs was d one giving police information about him and claiming he was involved in one crime or the other. She was looking to get him arrested so that she could get his properties and get off with another man. This a woman dat already had more than 2 kids for this guy. he has now divorced her n is remarried. There is no way to really know a person totally because circumstances and our environment can change us. We just have to hope and pray (for those who believe in praying) that we find our selves attached to good ppl. 5 Likes |
Career / Re: CISA Certification And Accounting In Nigeria by pufectskin: 9:44am On Dec 02, 2012 |
It wouldn't be wasted here in Nigeria, but its just that the demand for it is not yet high in Nigeria. Nigeria doesn't have that many companies that use Information Systems/IT to a very large extent. I mean in d US, everything is pretty much computerized. Every citizen's info is stored in some database for marketing, social security, birth info, voting info, health info, pension info, every info u can imagine. So all these things have to be encrypted and secured for fighting and preventing crime. May be u can work in an accounting or audit firm here or banking; as those r d few I think use Info systems to a degree where security would b important to them. Personally, I think banking, and acctng firms are boring places to work. Lol. But dats just me! |
Career / Re: CISA Certification And Accounting In Nigeria by pufectskin: 8:35am On Dec 02, 2012 |
CISA is definitely hot! Just not in Nigeria because I am not sure many companies have large databases or have any serious IT infrastructure. If they do, den they would need to secure them against hacking, cyber attacks, Identity fraud and many other cyber security threats. Not hot in Nigeria, but a major qualification in the west especially after d collapse Enron (sarbanes oxley act). An average IS Audit with CISA commands a $55k salary in d US. For majority of those in d career, their salaries are upwards of 55k. A lot of ppl don't know about this industry(is audit) so there is more demand than supply of skills. U would work in a public accounting firm, a place like d CIA, National Security Agency, IT Consulting, Banking, Insurance, etc with such a certification. Hence, d big salaries. It is a highly specialized field. Hope this helps! Cheers |

second on the list is a friend that I deeply admire (yea, she is a senior from college days and HBS African conferences, and I am absolutely proud of her). The beautiful and unashamedly fabulous Saran Kaba Jones, the 29yr old Liberian believes inadequate or lack of access to clean water or any water at all is one of the key reasons that african remains underdeveloped. She also believes girls and women are the backbone of any society and for this reason, women should be encouraged to attain greater heights. when a woman is educated, her kids are more likely to do better at school and lead better lives... for the reason, Saran founded the organisation FACEafrica... www.faceafrica.org

Well, ppl seldom do great things with stolen wealth. Dey r sooo dumb dat instead of figuring out a business idea dat would keep d wealth coming, they store cash in water tanks or in bedrooms inside their houses....They actually pile millions of naira/dollars high in rooms. Can u believe that? The money sits there for months and years just so they have enough in case they are sent out of office or smtg happens to them. Can u imagine how many ppl would be employed if that money is used to build well structured local brands like Nigeria's Walmart, Nigeria's Starbucks, or a proper taxi network or something? NO, it is better it stays in the tank cos our dumb politicians r completely clueless. Mad Cow: .Nice.. I am surprised that with all the billioniares in this country, no Nigerian has thought of opening a proper brand Supermarket chain.. How sad.. |

i dont know if they have these exact brands of protein powders in Lagos, but google it and try to see if u can get them sent to you from the US. But check GAME first; ask for protein powders and look through the ingredients and the calories it gives you per glass. TO add weight, u should be consuming an extra 1000 to 2000 calories a day (which the protein should provide). ciwi: |

all these ppl sayin eat fat, kfc, mcdonalds, meat etc; please dont listen to them. you can add weight even without adding more fat to your diet. lots of fat, kfc, mckidees are not good and would clog your arteries. eat healthy but increase your daily calories intake. 1 Like |

Hello Purplebrown, don't fret, I used to be just like u just b4 college. U sound like u r in d US so if I am correct just do what I did; go to ur nearest GNC and ask one of d guys there for XXXMass. I used a tub of dat per month for 4 months and I gained 15lbs. I am 5ft6 and used to weigh 100lbs...pretty skinny, right? After 4 months of XXXMass ($50 for a 6lb bucket/tub). I was 116. I have stopped using it since and I go back and forth btw 110 and 113lbs depending on how well I am eating. But keep in mind dat for a guy of low weight 2 to 3 meals a day is quite small. Bump it up to about 4 lil meals a day plus 2 cups of d protein (xxxmass) a day; day and nite. You would not only add weight, but u ll experience better skin, hair and nails. U can also try Optimum Nutrition's Serious Mass protein (about $55 for a 12lb bag). Google it. I went from ugly scrawny duckling to d prettiest girl at d party; no kidding. hit me up if u have any more questions. purplebrown: Hi, I'm a 20yr old guy and I'm underweight (naturally, high metabolism) and I can't stand it. I weigh between 50 and 55kg. People always say "wow, you're so freaking skinny do you ever eat", and "Wow, you are SO small". |
Education / Re: Final Year Calculus (economics) Is Making Me Depressed. Changing My Program. by pufectskin: 3:46pm On Nov 19, 2012 |
as an Econ grad myself, my advice would be that you shouldnt do Economics in graduate school as you will encounter A LOT of mathematics, econometrics and calculus which you would absolutely hate if you are not math inclined. About 40% of those in my program switched majors because of this. I did my undergrad/postgrad in uk/usa so I understand what you are going through to an extent. I suggest going for postgraduate programmes in political economy just as CFCfan suggested and you just continue with d mix of econ and politics in your undergrad. start applyin to internships and do as many as u can whilst in grad school or undergrad so that finding a job wont be so difficult post-graduation. I shld be in BC soon too; all d best! 2 Likes 1 Share |
