the thing is there are plenty of people from other ethnic groups who have managed to convince themselves that they are "white" or closer to white than they are in some way or another. but to varying degrees this has been seen as normal. I guess the uproar stems from the fact that people think she has no right to conform to a "lower" or oppressed racial norm

My thoughts exactly on the last part of your post. America is incredibly racist. And I now see what you meant & I agree..she should have lain low. We'll see how it enfolds. First of all, she's not some ornament made of fragile material. I really dislike it when some guys say things like, "I don't wanna hurt her feelings by saying a, b & c". Who cares? Tell her you aren't interested if you aren't & let her deal with her own emotions. If she displays some borderline personality traits by becoming unhinged at the rejection, then you take the legal route. A "normal" woman WILL leave you alone after you tell her you aren't interested. Hurt feelings WILL be there but that's again none of your business.

I doubt she's normal though, so good luck to your friend trying to get rid of her.

Hmm, I wondered the same thing too after watching her interview. Wondered if she might have some psychological issues, but who is to say? It's a free world, I guess. On a closely related topic to that of transgender individuals. I saw a case of a white woman ( Rachel Dolezal) who feels that she was born with a wrong skin tone. In other words, she sees herself as a black woman in a white woman's body. Says she "felt" black since she was a young girl. Thought it was interesting. The human mind indeed is very complex.

I was reading an article on Hollywood cougars the other day & people like Tina Turner are married to guys 16 years their junior. A bit icky for me but hey. Shakira is 10 years older than her husband & they seem happy. Also the likes of Nia Long, Kerry Washington, Monica etc, all happily married to younger men. I think it's what you make of it that counts. If you make each other happy then what's a few years?

Below is my favourite couple, Lisa Bonet & Jason Momoa. I believe she's 11 years older than him. They have a couple of kids together & I think they make a sexy couple.
