Let me enlighten you if you dont know. Some states have agricultural land mass which is cheaply leased to farmers. Ogun, Osun and Oyo have such. Please do your findings and get back to me. An acre goes for as low as 50k. So is my point now justified if such exist?

To buttress my point, Lagos state has a fish farm people buy into in Epe

I hope you wont shift goal post now
So what stops the northern governors doing same for the Fulani herdsmen in the north?
Why can't they create ranches for their herders?
Did the SW governors forced the whole nation into giving up their land before they meet the need of their people?
The joke is on you dude.

You still mot making a point. Is it on daily basis? "Frozen" you called it and not fresh. I would have welcomed it if you said Fresh fish is transported from Lagos to Bayelsa. You talking of a product people mostly demand fresh and mostly will reject a second day product.

Lets imagine cattles are transported monthly to every region, wouldnt still their be a designated ranch they will be before facing the abbattior?

Moreover, Where is this done in any part of the world? If I am to list the advantages of ranching to you, you wont be able to come up with 3 meaningful disadvantages of ranching
You're just roaming about in a vicious cycle. Cattle rearing is a private business like Piggery, Fishery, Farming etc, so how you go about selling to your customers is nobodies business.
An abbatoir can handle up-to 100-200 cows, that would cater for the weekly need of that community. And nothing stops them from killing the cattle in the north, freeze it and transport it in refrigerators as the case of Chickens and turkey. This cattle breeders are billionaires with some of them having up-to 5k cows, so they can develop new ways of getting their products to their consumers
Nigerians can no longer accommodate your primitive and savage lifestyles, we've moved on, it's either you catch up or you fizzle out of business.

You can only start making sense when you advocate for the creation of:
Piggery ranch, fishery reserves, Poultry ranch, Farm settlements, Snail farmers enclaves, Grass cutter ranch, Clubs and beer parlour hub, Distilling and Brewery industrial Estate etc, in the core north, exclusive for non Fulanis.
What is good for the goose is also good for the gander.
BTW no advantage of cattle ranching can be compare to the value of life which unfortunately the fulanis doesn't value.

Hear yourself! Do you think you making sense. The Tomatoes and products from the North you consuming today did not get to Lagos today, Like wise the beef.

Please reason and make logical points. Moving Cattles to the South on daily basis..... smh You should be sacked from your work place if you reason at this level. You couldnt even proffer a sensible solution.

Cattles leaving Sokoto to Bayelsa on daily basis... Chai!
My friend stop being primitive. How a product gets to the customers/consumers is the sole headache of the producers. The poultry farmers in the SW transport their day old chicks to far away Bayelsa, frozen fish gets to every part of Nigeria from Lagos port without ish. Nothing stops the herders also from transporting their cattle to various abbatiors whether daily, weekly or monthly, that's their headache. Fulani herdsmen aren't doing us any favour, we pay as high as 300k for a cow, so they aren't giving us cows for free.

And how do the products get to other parts of the country on daily basis. Please think and proffer logical solutions. There are more cows than human in New Zealand and its well with them. Stop using hate to hinder your thinking and progressiveness
How did Tomatoes, onions, beans and other farm produce gets to other parts of the country from the north? Are there not northerners that transfers their cattle via truck to the south? Must we have piggery reserves, Fishery reserves, poultry reserves all over the country before we eat Pork, chickens and fish?
Even fish and poultry products that are imported from far away Netherland gets to every Nigeria market on a daily basis. Likewise goods and farm produce are transported from the south to the north on a daily basis. The New Zealand you talked doesn't have cattle ranch in every neighborhood. It's high time you quit that primitive almajiri school and put your brain to good use.

Its disappointing that at this age, "Our land" mentality still thrives among lots. If you objecting to ranching, Do you have a better solution that could be beneficial to all?

No one is taking away your land, clauses might be introduced in the agreement that gives the state to revoke the lease or sale. Lets try to think forward please and remove ethno-religious sentiments.

Ranching is the way to go. If you have something better, Please share.
Nothing stops you from converting all the land in the NE and NW to grazing reserves. All we are saying is that not an inch of Yoruba land will be handed over to the Fulani in the name of cattle ranching. The one you took treacherously from afonja in Ilorin is enough.

Mr. Governor does have the right to reject the idea. It is his prerogative. But you gotta brace for high cost of rams, cows and other livestocks when the need be. And you have no right to condemn herders for open grazing anywhere in the country.

Really, it doesn't have to be fulani only that do this herds business. Why can't Yoruba leaders encourage their people to be self reliant and create their own ranches?. Remember, even if you don't sell the land to federal govt but you want herders to buy the land themselves, you will suffer worst consequences, bcus the moment you sell the lands to them, you relinquish your rights of ownership. There should be reserved lands in every state for this.

Enough said now
Stop this high cost thing you're singing about. Do they have to have farms in every part of the nation to supply tomatoes, onions, beans etc? Why can't they do such for their cattle? Haven't you seen most cows transported via trucks to various abbatiors before? Day old chicks were transported to far north from Oyo and heaven did not fall.

States are beginning to enact anti open grazing bills and any herder that disobey will face the consequence (as seen in Ekiti).

Every state has a master plan so even if you acquire any land from any omo onile for the wrong purpose you risk loosing ownership and properties on the land. The case of Igbo transportation companies in Lagos should suffice. There can never be any cattle ranch in any place without the approval and authorization of the state Govt.

That's it. You guys want no peace. What's religion has to do with this issue?.
Maybe you should explain why only people who ran into a mosque in one of the affected villages were spared at the pleading of an Imam while all the churches were burnt and all it inhabitants massacred?
One thing about liberal Muslims like you ( I suppose you're one) is the living in perpetual denial that there is no Violent sect of Islam. I've lived in the north, I've witness crisis and only diplomatic fools will tell you any crisis in the north are not "mostly" religiously motivated.
It's very easy for you to say this from your save abode in the SW because you've not witness people killing while shouting allahu Akbar. You can't tell me what I've experienced, people coming back from Jumat prayers vandalizing and killing so called Kafirs. Ask Yorubas/non Hausa Fulanis and even honest Hausa fulanis in the north irrespective of their religion affiliation and they'll tell you the same thing. #Fact.

Ranch, cow grazing is for the benefit of all just like agriculture. Also note that, this kind of hullabalou is not exclusive to Nigeria actually. In the USA, farmers too do have disagreements.

Disagreements is inevitable in any human interactions but resorting to violence and shedding of blood is the height of inhumanity.
BTW bringing USA into the picture is sheer ignorance, USA is a federating units with each unit (state) having its unique laws and policies. So the question of USA acquiring lands for Cattle breeders is practically impossible. Cattle breeders in Idaho, Omaha, Nebraska etc. do it as a private business entity. You can prove me wrong by showing prove to any state acquired/constructed ranch in the US.

If ranches are only in the north, cows and ram price will continue to skyrocket due to many obstacles fulani people have to go through all the way from North to transport livestock down south and East.

Lame!!! I guess they also need farm settlements in the south so that the prizes of food items won't skyrocket. Benue indegenes too deserves farm reserves in all the states because they are the food basket of the nation.
You talk as if Fulanis give Nigerians Cows for free, why should I give you accolades for goods and services I'm paying for.

ranching is certainly the way forward.

I think the issue is the way & manner the FG is going about it. the impression seems to be that the ranches are for the Fulani's only & I doubt this... the FG needs to clarify that aspect.

furthermore, in most northern states, some businesses are not allowed to operate or are severely restricted... such as sale of alcohol, piggery. so if the northerners put restriction on some southern businesses, restricting the northerners (in terms of FG funded ranching) can be seen as retaliatory in a way.

the key things are:

1. further discussions between the affected parties... also clarify if the ranches are government owned or private;

2. a clear statement from the herders that they would cease all hostilities & be ready to pay compensations for farm lands destroyed in the interim before the ranches are established;

3. clear cut guidelines on the modalities through which the FG will assist the herders acquire the land, taxes to be paid, operational modalities etc;

4. the immediate withdrawal from lands presently occupied by the herders through violence;

5. FG should stop acting as a mouth piece for the herders...

those who say the FG built irrigation dams, airports etc for businesses have a point, but those facilities belong to the government & not the private businesses making use of the facilities...

to stop the killings, reason must prevail on all sides...
We always like to be hypocritically diplomatic in matters relating to the north (Hausa Fulanis), always trying to pacify them, trying fruitlessly to accommodate their primitive and savages lifestyles.
That's why IPOB was proscribe terrorists and Fulani massacre termed farmers/herders clashes.
Boko Haram terrorists were given amnesty and rehabilitated while IPOB members and various individuals who committed less crimes languish in various prison facilities.
NE was allocated billions for reconstruction from their self destruction (Boko Haram) but how much does the SE, Odi, Zak Ibiam got from State sponsored genocide and destruction that greeted their land? Mind you, I'm a full blood Yoruba man.

FG (both past and present) is always quick to declare Operation python this, Crocodile that when it comes to Non Hausa Fulanis' but will always choose the round table in issues concerning the core north. Show me one Hausa Fulani man that's behind bars for all the ethno religious crisis that has rocked Nigeria till date. While non Hausa Fulani youths were sentenced to death for the murder of one Fulani herder, Boko Haram terrorists are being released, rehabilitated and plan is on Top gear to even conscript them into the army.
Have we ever come to know the root or sponsors of this act of terror?
Even the mighty OBJ was helpless in the face of state sponsored sharia crises that bedevilled the nation in the early 2000. The only solution he provides was that "sharia will die a natural death", leaving the fate of lives and properties to nature.

To your points:

1. When are we going to have discussions about Piggery ranch, Poultry ranch, Farm settlements, Clubs and Beer parlours, Distilling companies being set up and managed by non Hausa Fulanis in the core north?

2. Who gave Fulanis the monopoly of violence that they are to be persuaded to cease hostilities and destructions? and you think we're not in a Banana Republic? what happens to prosecuting them for the crimes they've committed?

3. If only they will set up modalities for those in No. 1 above.

4. Oh, we also need to beg the Fulanis to leave the ancestral lands of people they massacred because they are 1st class citizens abi? What happens to the security forces ejecting this alien land grabbers and prosecuting them?

See those who think they are good people but in reality bigots avoiding this thread like plague.

Government gives subsidy to farmers to buy fertilizer, nobody shouted it's Private business and government should stay off.

At huge cost the government builds dams at many river basins to irrigate farms.

They train farmers usually free of charge to adopt modern methods.

They sometimes provide free seedlings and encourage farmers to adopt it for increased yeild.

Many governments buy tractors and attachments to be rented by farmers.

But why is it such a bad thing to establish ranching reserves?

Why is it wrong to train herdsmen to stop nomadic life and embrace ranching?

Will it be a bad thing to buy milking machine for rent to herdsmen to improve our dairy Industry and reduce milk import?

Will it be a bad thing to have fat healthy cows instead of the lean diseased types common today?

When the opposition was in power their last government released 100 billion naira to all 36 states to establish ranches. Due to the corrupt hallmark and incompetence no state used the money for the purpose. Now they claim to be champions by opposing a solution they themselves proposed and paid for, only weak minds take them serious.

The truth is obvious, the opposition don't truly want the farmers/herdsmen clashes to stop, they want to obstruct any solution and hopefully ride on the blood flow and associated anger back into office. Very wicked people.
Govt built dams
How many dams were built in the south? Majority of the dams were built in the north where they largely practice agriculture.
So what is the business of cattle colonies in the South and NC when they are not cattle rearers?
When will govt create livestock(poultry)/Piggery colonies across the country for southerners who are largely into livestock(poultry) farming, and also create farm settlements for the middle beltans?

The fact remains that the federal government has been funding the greed and subsidizing the needs of the leeches up North since time immemorial.
It's in record that every Agricultural program and policies always favours the north (mostly Hausa Fulani)
While they receive free fertilizers and every other Agricultural incentives, their counterparts in the south source for it on their own, knowing fully well that this same northerners that receives handsout never pays taxes compared to well organized Agricultural sector in the South (most especially southwest). Go and ask how much poultry farms in the Oyo-Ogun axis pays as taxes annually despite their high cost of production compared to fulani wanderers that his only job is to lead cows into people's farm to graze? They don't spend money on anything except some few vaccines and they sell their cattles has high as 300k still they don't pay tax.
still they want free land from the government, you think the rest of Nigerians are fools?
If a poultry farmer in the south with capital base less than 1million can cater for himself and still pay taxes, Fulani cattle breeders with capital base close to a Billion should be able to fend for themselves.

Should we blame buhari, Fulanis or APC?
Culpability lies at the table of our oppositions (largely PDP) for being Docile, disorganized and Ineffective. This time 2014 Lai Muhammed and his Tinubu/ACN media machinery were busy fighting the Gej govt with every vestige of wisdom and resources at their disposal, releasing multiple media briefings on daily basis, flooding the editorial page of national dailies and social media with their intelligent propaganda lased with subtle insults and poison towards the PDP govt. The former PDP national publicity secretary, Prof Ahmed Alkali described him “Lai Mohammed is good in propaganda. He uses lies to confuse Nigeria. He issues hundreds of statements in a day. That is a sign that he is idle. I cannot do that because I am busy.”
“We need to have a publicity secretary that is proactive, somebody who can match Lai Mohammed in his antics,” Dr Joshua Ikem, a PDP chieftain said.
Compare the international media publicity and propaganda that greeted the Chibok Abduction to Dapchi Abduction. Boko Haram attacks then compared to Fulani herdsmen/ Boko Haram massacre now.
FFK, Reno Omokiri, fayose, and lere olayinka's non issue based ethnic and religious insults against the Buhari govt can only end up in the trash can of the international communities and sensible individuals, and we can boldly see that this govt still enjoys a sizeable intl support compared to what GEJ received.
Wike and Fayose shot themselves at the foot when they sidelined the SW (the home of opposition, activism, media machinery and propaganda machination) and they opted for a docile, relatively unknown, inarticulated, inexperienced and unwitty Kola Ologbodiyan as Publicity Secretary to the Chagrin of PDP leadership in the SW, when there are Hundreds of Yoruba sons who will match Lai and his cohort man to man in the war of words.

Let it be known that I hate both PDP and APC (both are Locust and Cancerworm) but the difference is while one is a daft evil the other is an evil genius. I consider the evil genius a bigger evil.

It roughly 7 months to the election and the question remain "who will wake this opposition from their perpetual slumber"?
