And even In Nigeria there aren’t much job opportunities in the tech industry, the opportunities available pay low when compared with the years of experience they want you to have .

Some people are lucky, I taught a girl who had 0 knowledge and IBM Dubai recruited her vs someone with years of experience.

I have been struggling with landing jobs on upwork and fortunately for me, I applied to one last night and the client replied back and we did interview and was given a quick test task to do which I did and sent to him, only to plug my laptop to charge so I could hop on the zoom call to finalise with the client, NEPA took light and not quite long, my laptop went off and neither do I have a smartphone I could have used for the call. I just checked back this morning after the so called NEPA brought back light and saw that the client has hired someone else, I really feel pained that after struggling to land a job and this particular one came but lost it because of NEPA. I will never forget this day and I am waiting for who will come and tell me to be a patriotic Nigeria. This country is a mess. Any country that can give 24/7 power supply is far better than Nigeria even if is Sudan. I feel pained!

A lot of clients know Nigeria has power issues. How? Previous experience with Nigerian freelancers or hearsay.

There is also the issue of integrity and (maybe) racism. So it is a good sign that you were shortlisted.

Once you decide to delve into remote work, know you have to be a step ahead. Have backup network and power source for your laptop at least. Once upon a time I wondered what people use laptops for, but if you want to send me into PANIC MODE now, take my mouse. Not even the laptop itself. Lol

Way back I bought a smart laptop powerbank. It cost me 75k or so. I rarely use it these days because we done grow, but I still go with it on trips. So, do what you have to. Remote work is capital intensive to setup, but when it begins to pay, you will know Nigeria is for our enjoyment.

Today the same happened, I forgot to switch on the inverter, he was even saying our internet is slow, because Fiberone dey mess up.

OP try working from all those eateries, but your battery itself has issue to go immediately
