Eco Bank of Nigeria has demonstrated her intolerance stance for staff fraud by handing over 3 staff to the Nigerian police for prosecution. The said staff, Oluwatoyin Adetunji, Oluwatosin Obademi, and Olushola Ogunshina are alleged to have committed financial fraud worth N2.8M at the Iyana-Ipaja branch of the Eco bank in July 10-14, 2015. According to the report, the staff siphoned that whooping sum from customer’s accounts through forged signatures. You reading this article will agree with me that the number one value any bank will attract and keep customers is the confidence that your money will be safe with them. It is alarming to know the level of fraud perpetuated by most banks staffers across the country. The alleged crime in Eco Bank was uncovered by the Quality Assurance Unit of the bank during weekly reconciliation exercise. The affected staff have already been charged at the Tinubu Magistrate situated at the Lagos Island on 3 count charge of forgery, conspiracy and stealing. The prosecutor, Inspector Nurudeen Thomas, revealed to the court how the accused persons committed the alleged fraud stating that Mr. Adetunji and Mr. Obademi were cashiers, while Mr. Ogunshina was an Information Technology personnel in the bank. The Police were invited by the bank to effect the arrest when the fraud case was discovered. Inspector Thomas noted that Mr. Ogunshina and Mr. Obademi confessed to the crime claiming they were approached by Mr. Adetunji for the deal with a promise to gratify them with the sum of N350,000 each. Mr. Thomas explained that the offences contravened Sections 285, 361 and 409 of the Criminal Code of Lagos State, 2011. K. B. Ayeye, the Chief Magistrate, granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties each in like sum while adjourning the case to 22nd February for further a hearing. Eco Bank began operation in 1986 operating as universal bank. Their services then were wholesale, corporate, retails, investment and transaction banking services to the Nigerian Business community. Within the fourth quarter of 2011, Eco Bank acquired 100 percent share of Oceanic bank due to recapitalization exercise by the apex bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN. Eco Bank prides herself as the Pan African bank with several branches in most African countries extending to other continents of the world. The act of exposing staff fraud in the bank is a welcome development which will build more customer confidence in the bank and send signal to other staff with questionable intents to stay off. @ Mynd44, In a civilized forum such as this, you dont pick up on people bullying or harassing them just because you are admin in the forum by shutting down their posts anyhow. I mean, most of us keep posting and contributing meaningfully to this forum. I sincerely need a very cogent explanation why you have decided to close my post https://www.nairaland.com/2914395/again-saraki-fails-supreme-court in such a manner. If you are saying there is already a post on that topic, then i can count about 4 of such posts currently trending the Politics section there yet you did nothing about them. So why mine? It is practically not proper to treat my hard work this way. Thank you. |
Senate President saraki fails at the supreme court The Supreme Court has rejected Senator Saraki’s Appeal to stop his trial on corruption allegations. The Senate President Bukola is facing a 13-count charge of fraud allegedly declared falsely on the asset declaration form. The Code of Conduct Bureau charged him for committing offence of maintaining foreign account during his time as the governor of Kwara State. But this was seen by Senator president as the a politically motivated action and appealed at the appeal court challenging the power and composition of the Code of Conduct tribunal to hear his case. He prayed the court to quash the charges. After loosing at the Appeal Court, he later appealed to the Supreme Court. In its ruling today being Friday 5th Feb, the Supreme Court affirmed the decision of the Appeal Court. Mr. Saraki’s appeal has again failed at the Supreme Court, where the Court has ordered him Saraki to stand trial on the charges against him. Further details to come your way soon….. source:http://www.robminds.com/2016/02/05/saraki-fails-at-the-supreme-court/

Ship hijack case alleged to have been masterminded by the pro-biafran supporters seem to be having a contrary claim. Two prominent Pro-Biafran groups have denied being responsible for the ship hijack. The groups had been accused of hijacking the ship alongside some foreign nationals, demanding for the release of their leader Nnamdi Kanu. The merchant ship which was said to have been hijacked along the Bakassi Peninsula, a region disagreed upon between Cameroun and Nigeria part of which was ceded to Cameroun during the Obasanjo administration. The ship hijack was said to have taken place on Friday. A spokesperson called General Ben allegedly gave a deadline of 31 days to the Federal Government of Nigeria within which it must release their leader Nnamdi Kanu. General Ben warned that should the government fail to yield to his instructions within the stipulated time, they will have no option than to blow off the ship with the crew on-board. Supreme court has done it again by upholding the election of Emmanuel Udom of PDP as duly elected Governor of Akwa Ibom state . In the ruling , the court held that Emmanuel won the total lawful votes cast, setting aside the earlier verdicts of the two lower courts. The court as well upheld Governor Udom’s earlier Appeal challenging the cancellation of results in 13 LGAs of the state. Furthermore, the Appeal by the Independent National Electoral Commission challenging election results cancellation in some other local governments areas was upheld as well. Recall that there has been a lot of tension in affected states over the Supreme court’s final ruling today. The Supreme court is the highest court in the country which suggests that the its say in any case is final. Meanwhile, Governor Ikpeazu of Abia’s election has also been upheld. The lead judge that delivered the judgment, Justice Sulaiman Galadima noted that there was merit in the appeal that was lodged by both Ikpeazu and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. War against boko haram terrorism is not a child’s play for Nigeria, and I doubt if it will ever be for any other nation no matter its military might and size of economy. Please Note: - War against Boko haram Terror is an ideological war and not much of arms war -You first kill the ideology so the people can get disinterested in it to win the war Follow me in this journey lets discuss this. Since this terrorism madness started in the country in 2009, a total of about 20,000 precious lives have been estimated to have been wasted in Nigeria and hundreds in neighbouring countries of Cameroun and Chad. Boko haram war has drained the country’s economy in no small measures. It is estimated that as at 2013, Nigeria had already spent about N1Trillion in the terror war. Which suggests that by 2016 , we can say about double of that figure must has been expended on the unfruitful project putting the amount at N2trillion. Good, but war against Boko Haram is an ideological war much more than arms war. You do not kill the people and leave the Ideology rather the kill the ideology and the people become less interested in the idea. Intelligence gathering and dissemination vital. |

Governor Fayose of Ekiti State has advised President Buhari to allow the Judiciary do their work the way it should be done in the spirit of separation of powers as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution. Fayose insisted that the President must stop castigating the judiciary making it look like it is obstructing his fight against corruption. quotequote:This is the only man left bold enough to speak for PDP, PMB has succeeded in cornering all other opposition using anti-corruption machinery of the Government. And even the Fayose, PMB is deploying election rigging strategy to shut him down finally. But the Fayose i know cant be intimidated and will fight the battle up till the Supreme Court. That guy no send Buhari harassment one bit. Give him the chance he will turn buhari into a punching bag. And indeed even the whole world can see that he(Fayose) is a nightmare to PMB. ![]() |

radiokilla:I have perused your site and i think its cool. Though we almost have a similar navi structure, however, i will observe ones again your recommendations and possibly implement. Thank you for taking your time to show some love. God bless u. |
NgeneUkwenu:You seem to be in a hurry to show your sadness over the verdict. Why not wait patiently to see the Supreme Court's reasons for the judgement first before faulting them. Perhaps what you fail to understand is that the Law is different from Morality. Which election has never witnessed violence in this country before? But you must realise that judgement cant be based on newspapers , TV clips or even sentiments alone. The court looks beyond that ,expecting that after submitting your evidence no matter how real, you will need to prove beyond reasonable doubt all the evidence and link them to the fact that they have affected the overall result output. Besides, electoral act is just the laws regulating election in Nigeria, maybe all you also need to remember is that the constitution is the supreme law which has to watch and override every other laws in the country where necessary. Hence, i think this your article came too early. |

Meanwhile, i will welcome criticisms and advise from well meaning webmasters and bloggers in the house. thanks. Please let the Mods help to move this to front page abeg. I need comments so badly. |
