Ignorant loyalty, they believe because a man named GEJ is president the man named GEJ is running the country. For all they know Yaradua is still shouting orders from beyond the grave.

The southerners have dissapointed me I cannot say that enough, thier poor quality leaders, blindly supporting GEJ despite this nonsense, and now the fuel scarcity situation.

Anyways I heard they pay even more for the fuel. . . . .GOOD! kmt

Politics › Re: Momoh, Madueke, Nezor SA, & Tridax SA: The Real CABAL? by queensmith: 10:45am On Jan 12, 2012
I dont believe in this soo called cabal and sensible nigerians should not encourage it. It's a senseless idea. It allows the polititians to push blame, justifies the outrageous extent of curroption in the system and fully allows them to continue doing nothing about it.

The idea of untouchables indeed,

are people trying to tell me Nigeria a country that lacks any sort of solid infrastructure security and organisation have somehow come up with a complex group of individuals that cant even be apprehended by the president of the state? Are they Osama?

Moreso- If a cabal does indeed exist, it might as well be made up of everyone and anyone who encourages corruption by a single act of bribery and dishonesty.

This may be the main reason why the criminals cant be apprehended, dogs cant eat dogs.

I won't bother pulling up data you can find on wikipedia for you (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Household_income_in_the_United_States) . Bachelors degree holders out-earn high school diploma holders in the US. Nobody with any education at all can debate that.

Richard Branson is an anomaly. For every Richard Branson, there is a Warren Buffet, a Bernard Arnault and a Lakshmi Mittal (and a million Romneys, Kravis's and Obamas).

You can't be serious with that quip on Okonjo-Iweala or you don't know what the field of "economics" is.
Ahhhh- its unfortunate, having attended one of the best universities in the world one thing they never let you know is that the degree is absolutely useless!
Attaining a degree is going to be determined by a number of factors, i.e- class, race, profession, availability of places- which over the years have all significantly increased.
Long story short its now EASIER, to get a degree, esp with there now being nuisance degrees available like art degrees and what have you. Meaning more people HAVE degrees.
So now you have a bundle of employers who now ask for degree holders in jobs that don’t require them. I.e a $50000 earning personal assistant, what does that need a degree for?
Also anyone with common sense and will know that certain professions’ (esp the overpaid ones!) will skew the results. Taking out the doctors over paid lawyers and what have you will show those that work their way up end up earning more than degree holders.
Having a degree (depending on the degree let me add) does not in any way guarantee you will earn more than without one!

moremi2008:
Oh, now I see where you're coming from. You clearly aren't particularly well-educated yourself. Otherwise, you would recognize that the implicit assumptions in your argument are ridiculous.
I was waiting for that, you assuming I’m uneducated is beyond preposterous!
With that I feel foolish trying to debate with you, but I’ll bless you with some of my prestigious education: D
moremi2008:
Life is a game of probability.
With this statement you’ve contradicted everything written below and nullified your argument, again I’ll overlook your ignorance.
moremi2008:
The chances of leading a successful life in the US are significantly reduced without a college degree. The statistics say it all
Statistics show us that 99% of statistics are made up on the spot! Show me an academic journal not backed by a university proving this conclusion and we can talk!
moremi2008:
Bachelors degree holders out-earn by far high school diploma holders.
Let’s assume this statement is true, It’s in no way equivalent to ‘most high earners are bachelor degree holders’
In fact the highest paying jobs are those that don’t require a degree of any sort. Just a GCSE certificate and some vocational training.
In addition to that the four years wasted in university are salary earning years, talk less of the money potentially wasted on the degree. Those that don’t go to university tend to be much better off.
moremi2008:
Besides, successful businesses across the world are more complex than ever; the analytic tools of a business degree have never been more helpful. A family business that's thriving today might be gone tomorrow. An investment in one's mind is an investment that lasts a lifetime; nobody can take your intellectual capital away from you.
Another one of your baseless assumptions, do I even need to mention the richest business men around the world? How many degrees does Richard Branson have?
I think this mentality is something else that holds Nigeria and Nigerians back, your Harvard graduate Finance Minister seeming like an idiot on TV where she proves she doesn’t even understand basic economic concepts.

I might also add, if the world’s economists and bankers are soo intellectually capable then why is the world in recession? How much does this soo called knowledge really help

momc needs to learn that times are changing, if you have no interest in it, it will difficult for you to do well.

I will suggest you take a year out to find your calling. You can tell momc its to do work experience. by the end of it you should know what you want to do.

Are saying that 4 naira for every litre of fuel sold in Rivers State over the next 2 years (assuming it lingers till then) won't be able to buy anything? angry angry angry angry angry angry
subsidising the fuel for such a petty amount wont make people buy any less, or any more. it wont bring transport costs down significantly and therefore wont make any economical differenct to the state as opposed to the others in the country. result, useless nonsense and propaganda and possibly an avenue to just steal money.

why doesnt he use the cash to subsidise drugs? healthcare? textbooks?

ive said and said time again morons run our country!

have u started uni what year are u in and how much have you spent towards it?

i understand how it is feeling like your on the wrong path but having parents throw thier dreams at you like you must! medicine! phd! masters! internships! doctor lawyer!  its hell and i know!

But depending on how far along you are now it might be a waste to drop it, you can try and postpone uni, work for a year or so and possible continue part time.

a degree isnt neccesary. it doesnt guarantee any sort of prospects any more than not having one guarantees failure. Its all about knowing what you want in life. if anything degrees are no longer what they used to be now everybody has one!
Politics › Re: Will Jonathan Reverse The Fuel Price To =n= 65/litre? by queensmith: 11:05am On Jan 11, 2012
he doesnt need to subsidise the fuel for the cost to be cheap- he simply needs to introduce tight regulations that will make fraud impossible- maximise the output of the useless refineries we currently have. strike a deal with some private investors to refine fuel abroad in exchange for more crude

the subsidy was just a quick way out of the govts incompetence without the masses complaining. it also produced an avenue for them to steal

i also do not believe in this useless cabal people keep mentioning as if nigeria has any sort of sophisticated mafia

fish them out and throw them in guatanamo! nonsense! kmt

if this is true then the man is a moronic slowpoke,

no2 whats the difference? what can 4naira buy?
no3 why not just buy more buses to keep the price of transport down?

Politics › Re: Will Jonathan Reverse The Fuel Price To =n= 65/litre? by queensmith: 4:13pm On Jan 10, 2012
Apparently the subsidy isnt actually included in the budget because it comes out of the excess crude account. That will probably explain why it was mismanaged soo much.

Please google "August 2011 riots in the UK", read about it and you would realise that a criminal mind is a criminal mind everywhere.
LOL! just because england is relatively wealthy doesnt means its inhabitants arent suffering? the riots in uk even prove my point! there wouldnt be any rioting protesting or criminality if it wasnt for police brutality, wealth disparity and growing pains of the working class! the riots in the uk showed us the poor cannot be ignored! the arab spring shows us u cannot push the people indefinitely!

if a government choses to neglect its people then everyone needs to tighten thier belts for the consequences. we will pay the price of not speaking up when we could!

I dont understand peoples joy in this matter? Is it because the government apparently succesfully deregulated the telecomms sector, a sector no government has any sort of business getting a stake in unless its in geuine trouble?

I dont see why on earth they felt the need to control telecoms in the first place! if they had allowed it nigeria will have a more technologically advanced system than the expensive shite they call internet and mobile service. Im sorry but this is true. Til today most people cany fix in landlines and for the rest it will be expensive and wasteful. You simply have more companies offering rubbish yet still expensive service and people are praising obj for a good job?

now with the merry go round they are doing with phcn- a merry go round nigerians have been seeing for years, i dont get what is fresh about this at all? why dont u guys think logically for a change and stop jumping up and down on everything?

[b]IMF Forces African Nations to Remove Fuel Subsidies

January, 1, 2012

NewsRescue- Joining Guinea, Cameroon, Ghana and Chad, Nigeria on New Years day removed fuel subsidies in accordance with an order from the IMF (International Monetary Fund). This created a jump in the price of automobile fuel from about 65 Naira per liter to 140Naira per liter overnight, Sunday. This brings fuel/gas prices in Nigeria to about the same price it is in the US, though lower than many European nations.

This is incredibly sad, so the subsidy is going to be removed, to support wall street banks?? Shame on you nigerians for voting for this man. Look at what he is doing!

morons! ur money is going to end up being used to get the western countries out of debt!!! OMG THIS IS BEYOND FUNNY!!!
Politics › Re: PHCN Divided And Liquidated By FG by queensmith: 8:05pm On Jan 09, 2012
lackof patience (pun totally unintended grin) is the problem most Nigerians have.

What have you seen that you are jubilating?? Wait to see the power first before you start to praise jesus. kilode!

Also, would it not have been more sensible for the president to go ahead with the planned deregulations FIRST then remove the subsidies once the people have seen improvement?

It wouldnt have cost them alot more than it takes to run this expensive govt (a bill which still suprises me now!)
