allanohize: In fact on the contrary, ladies from broken homes have a better tendency to make better wives especially in Nigeria. Just like children from poor homes have a better tendency to be good financial managers.
They have suffered the pains of not being with both their parents. They have seen their friends from stable homes. They lived their lives wishing to have stable homes. They learnt the hard way what stable homes can provide to the psyche of children. They swore that they would do everything possible not to repeat the mistakes of their parents.
Children from stable homes are more likely to take too many things for granted. They are more likely to grow up not understanding the amount of sacrifice needed to keep a home together. Most people commenting so far are only doing so because in Nigeria, we have been conditioned to believe in the superstitions of ancient times. In Europe, America and other developed countries where divorce is very common, ask this same question and you will see a different class of opinions from respondents.
At the end of the day, it boils down to the individual and not the background of the individual per se! Too many things will come to play.
Arsenal is better than Man U!
Does this argument hold any sense? Depending on what your bias is, you can always make a case either for or against the above statement.
Eba is sweeter than amala! Depending on what you prefer, you can argue for or against.
Children whose parents did not beat them can never make good fathers! What nonsense! My parents never, ever, beat me, I am 34 presently with 4 kids, and I can boast of being one of the best Nigerian dads ever to pass through this world.
Some of my uncles and aunts once told me that Edo girls are all LovePeddlers and never make good wives! I married from Edo state, and she is from a double broken home, she did not even know her father until she was 21 years old, yet she remains a blessing and an angel to me. I am from not from Edo state.
I read some posts above and people were saying, "the girl is likely to follow her mother's footsteps and break her own home". For your information, men cause 85% of broken homes, either directly or indirectly. The girl's mother might have been an angel which her father never appreciated due to, say, drunkenness, womanising, gambling and all what not. Does it mean that her mother, having divorced the father for such irresponsible behaviours after enduring it for many years, will not be able to bring her children up properly to be good, godly and fit for marriage? No!
Guys, read my earlier post on this issue, there are things you look out for in a lady you intend to marry, and her coming from a broken home or not is certainly not one of them.
Yoruba girls are dirty, so don't marry them. Ibo girls will finish your money, so don't marry them. Calabar and Edo girls are promiscous, so don't marry them. Ebira and igala girls will use juju on you so don't marry them. Hausa girls will train their children to be bokoharamists so don't marry them. Port harcourt girls will kill you to inherit your property, so don't marry them. etc etc etc!!
Absolute nonsense, all these statements. Whatever characteristics you see in any lady from one tribe, you will get thousands from another tribe with such habits as well.
For as many girls who come from broken homes that make bad wives, you will see just as many from stable homes who are bad too!
End of discussion! GBAM! |

No- depends on the individual. There is no A-Z on a good marriage. So just because your parents were together 100yrs of broke up 2years later never means you will have the same fate + if you come from a broken home your most likely to understand the traits to avoid in a partner of have a better indication of the type of person you shouldnt marry from past experience. Those from different types of families tend to start relationships and move on relatively earlier
Even if one came from a broken home mosy of the time the parents did not so the theory is complete BS. |

We are all aware of the injustice, blood, power and corruption going on in Libya, I personally do not support NATO dropping bombs in Libya in the guise of stopping Ghaddafi from killing so-called "inocent civilians" but that does not mean I must see every move by the west as bad and start conjecturing baseless conspiracy theories that makes one look like a schizophrenic. Your opinion on the matter is irrelevant, it doesnt take a genius to realise there is only a singular agenda on the western civilisations. Capitalism doesnt allow for equality and neither does developed oil rich nations enable enrichment of the select few. Its fundamental to the western way of life for all other countries to remain economically stagnant and equally ignorant. Anyone that doesnt see this is a complete fool and I have no time to waste arguing with them. The history of the western governments speak very much for itself, Hilary clintons daily statements speak very much for themselves, the power hungry agenda of the american government speaks nothing else. What exactly are you waiting for? Does it really seem that complicated to you for Nigeria to move forward? |

NATO are running out of bombs to drop on libya - this was a statement released by the US defence secretary robert gates a few weeks ago, america (which is bankrupt) can no longer afford to finance this war and they are getting fed up with having to carry the bulk of the financial responsiblity , they want the european nations to take up a greater share of the funding, italy has said they've had enough of this and are now talking about calling for a ceasefire, however britain and france are still hell bent on seeing this murderous rampage through to the end.

Jonathan is nothing more than america's hired help - he is just a glorified houseboy carrying out the instructions of his masters in washington, he went to america just before the elections to plead for Obama's support and was told that as long as he assisted america and europe in their planned takeover of libya and ivory coast he would be allowed to win the upcoming elections in nigeria.
As long as Nigeria continues to kow tow to washington and london it will continue to be a nation of huge inequality, suffering, misery and poverty for the vast majority of the population. This is because Nigeria is still adopting economic policies which do not benefit the masses but are designed to enrich only the international financial institutions, the nigerian elite and the multinational corporations.
instead of looking at ways to diversify the economy nigeria STILL carries on down the suicidal route of almost complete reliance on oil exports whilst neglecting industries like agriculture which nigeria should be exploiting in order to wean itself off foreign food imports.
does not control the price of its own commodities and is totally at the mercy of the WTO (world trade organisation)
takes on western trained so called experts like Okonjo Iweala who are merely agents of neo colonialism, these supposed "experts" do not have nigeria's interest at heart and are only interested in lining their own pockets
continues to sell off valuable public assets to foreign investors which again enables foreigners economic control over valuable public and state owned assets I was hoping things will take a turn for the better soon. God forbid we have any major catastrophe the fact we dont even produce our own food is going to lead to economic disaster. *sigh*
@ cap28, you made some interesting point with respect to Iweala and GEJ as agent of neo-colonialism,,,,some I entertain, others I don't. On the issue of nigeria's overbloated debt, the fact is the loan was taking out by a nigerian administration at one point in time (though with crooked high interest), hence; we are oblidged to pay. One thing africans (in this case nigerians) had failed to realise is that the west don't give a damn about nigeria,,,,they are just about exploiting nigeria. It's up to nigerians to be smart and be ahead of the game. Don't you think they tried to exploit the chinese, but because the chinese love china and are more patriotic, hence their leaders don't sell out. Now contrast "one-nigeria" where nobody really believe in nigeria, but only in OIL money allocation. The bottom line is that "one-nigeria" is vulnerable to exploitation because the leaders are not sure if they will wake up the next day and find nigeria intact. It is with this notion that the owners of nigeria are all sold out to the west.
Just on one point, I could very easily have the total debt cancelled by proving the Paris Club were aware the money will be squandered when it was lent to the country. Its called responsible lending ,greed and corruption let them dish thier money and If i were in charge they will very much lose it. I wont pay a penny unless they can produce the solid assets the invested thier billions on- schools ,hospitals, refineries the likes. 30 billion dollars is a damn lot of money to be paying off just like that. I will maintain they continue to chase the past leaders who have stolen it to get it back. Sounds crazy i know, but even banking laws are on our side on this one. |

cold: All i know in Africa indeed. You just keep going on & on about monogamy without substantiating anything.Shows how intelligent you are.
The union, in marriage of two members of the opposite sex is a tradition that has been around since men were living in caves. So have extra-marital affairs. Since almost the beginning of time, humans have believed that marriage was important in maintaining a cohesive, healthy society. Another belief that was collectively held about marriage was the idea that the union was to be monogamous. Despite this belief, some human beings can't seem to live a monogamous lifestyle. Research has shown that affairs are as old as marriage itself. Why do people have extra-marital affairs? Some say that monogamous relationships are not natural. They believe human beings are not biologically inclined to mate for life. I say that for every person who has had an affair there is probably a reason to justify it, in their eyes. My opinion is that we set our expectations of what marriage is too high. When our expectations aren't met we look outside the marriage for someone who can meet them.
http://divorcesupport.about.com/od/infidelity/tp/infidelity_hub.htm Right- now i see where you get it from. My intelligence is displayed by my ability to make conclusions drawn from research backed with solid evidence. Yours is copied from a statement written by God knows who and proven by God knows what. Where on earth did they recieve the idea extra marital affairs have been around since men were living in caves when at that time there was no such thing as marriage? Where did you or the author of this piece of trash learn your own history?? Monogamy is the natural form of human relationships, even before the invention of marriage men were living- one wife ,one cave. Diversion from that is a result of sexual perverseness and moral limits continuously being tested. We even see evidence of this on a daily basis- the foundation of family for example. Most only keep one best friend, we only openly date one partner, and even developing civilisations continue to outdate legal polygamy. I suggest you pick up some books describing mans evolutionary social affairs before you make cock based assumptions and try to push foolish ideas on others. No matter how many biggotted men try to further justify thier nonsense by pulling rubbish out of thier arses the bases of infidelity will remain the same. They are all a bunch of perverts!!! |

Because they embraced and glamorized moral decadence. Even the cavemen were proven to be monogamous, polygamy only became soo popular because people mistook the fact that some men had more than one wife according to the ancient Assyrian rule- The additional maidservant is given by the wife if she cannot bare children. Cheating- like anal sex is just another widely accepted perversion. The attitudes of most societies to the disgusting habit is what makes it more encouraged rather than inhibited.
To the person that said humans are not meant to be monogamous; i've never heard such utter rubbish in my entire life! Is this the propaganda of your average Nigerian male nowadays? No wonder they are all failing thier WAECS.
There absolutely nothing in the homo sapiens evolutionary history to suggest the sort, cheating like many other corruptions of society is relatively new and the increase + acceptance a reflection of the decreasing moral integrity this century displays.
So in answer to the op's overplayed question (especially on this forum) men (or women) cheat, simply because they are disgusting perverts and society allows it! |

cap28: Yes, they are two seperate organisations, but they work in a collaborative manner. The IMF offers loans to countries (subject to various conditionalities) and when these debtor countries are unable to keep up with the debt repayments or the conditions which are attached to these loans the IMF refers them on to the Paris club which are a group of 19 western nations which draw up alternative debt repayment mechanisms and conditionalities.
No, nigeria has already paid back the $12 billion (it did so within one year) no interest accrued on that figure, but its still selling off its public utitlities to various foreign investors as part of the entire negotiated deal.
because most nigerians are pig ignorant and dont understand that the western international banking system is used by western nations to covertly appropriate the wealth of sovereign nations.
actually thats not true, we have much more capable and sincere economists in nigeria who would not have kow towed to the western predators, part of the reason nigeria is in this mess in the first place is because of a debt inherited from the irresponsible and reckless borrowing of the Shagari regime, when Buhari took over the reins of power he was advised by the IMF to take on loans in order to settle these debts owed to the west but Buhari REFUSED to do so and instead sought advice from his economic team who advised on alternative ways of settling our debt. Buhari imiposed a freeze on all foreign loans, employed economic policies which would boost nigeria's revenue and was able to pay off almost 50% of our debts without borrowing a penny from the IMF - this man succeeded in doing what no other nigerian head of state has ever done in nigeria's history, but see what happened to him, before anyone knew what was happening he was toppled by babangida who went on to borrow huge sums of money from the IMF and set nigeria onto the road of economic destruction which we are yet to fully recover from.
Nigeria paid $12 billion as part payment of an inflated debt the bulk of which was made up of interest.
Nigeria also agreed to divert govt revenue earmarked for healthcare, education and other social services into servicing another debt which it owes to other internatinoal lenders - i think this additional figure is in the region of $10billion dollars.
In addition nigeria agreed to sell off its public utilities to foreign investors and devalue its currency.
As far as i am aware there is no US military base in nigeria, however an american naval warship is currently stationed off the coast of the gulf of guinea as part of the bilateral regional security agreement that jonathan entered into with the US recently to fight terrorism - which to my mind is merely a pretext for the real reason that they are there ie to "secure" the oil reserves It is however very likely that following the attack on libya by NATO the door is now open for the US to locate military bases on the african continent using a specialised military command centre known as AFRICOM. AFRICOM is actually coordinating the attacks on libya along with NATO as we speak. Damn- i mean ive always known pdp kiss imperialist ass but didnt know to what extent. It makes sense africom is co-ordinating the attacks but ive always maintained NATO was a simple cover up for the US to continue its worldwide spread of terror under the pretense the rest of the world agrees. Apparently half of the EU arent even in agreement with the situation in libya, i wont be surprised if its left with the US, UK and france to continue. But on the case of buhari it makes more sense that jonathan most likely rigged the elections, sums up what he was doing in the US prior to the election and the lack of coverage on the terror attacks in Nigeria by the western media. 'If its not on sky news it must not be happening' So in your opinion provided the US dont otherthrow the rest of the world 'armaggedon style' with this major arms race thats goin on- whats Nigeria going to be like 2020 provided our imperialist masters continue to have thier way?? |

Cap- arent the IMF and the Paris club 2 separate things??
So is the country incurring interest on the 12billion its meant to pay back in addition to the public assets its giving away?
Since all okonja REALLY did was get the sum back to the amount Nigeria owed in the first place- why is it widely publicized Nigeria benefited from debt relief?
in a way- we cant really blame okonja- if she doesnt do it, someone else will. Soo far the whole 'democratic' govt of Nigeria have only been successful in carrying out the western worlds developing economy crippling agendas.
What im mostly curious about is what exactly has been bargained with the Paris club for them to finally decide to release the debt? Since they initially refused during Abachas regime what did okonja or the appointment of okonja do to change things?
I smell a military base somewhere. . . , . . . . . can anyone confirm if theres currently a US base in naija?? |

Do you understand how their monetary policies have brought the african continent to its knees?
Do you understand the role that structural adjustment policies have played in the economic decimation of many african economies all with the collaboration of stooges like Okonjo Iweala?

Okonjo Iweala sold out her own people in exchange for an appointment at the World Bank, in your dim mind that is an acheivement but she got there by assisting in the transfer of $12billion of nigeria's wealth into the hands of a group of financial predators aka the paris club.
