Bros mi oooo, I still dey wonder why you backed up claims of male birth control pills with articles referring to testosterone shots.
because the testosterone gel + injections of dp have been proven to work to that effect.

the article suggests unapproved use of the gel (though for a different reason) on patients.

Whats missing is a industry backed product. Since most of the studies conducted were done so years ago and there is use of it in china and india its safety has already been confirmed. If a pharmaceutical were to produce the injections it will be of the same combination but under a different name.

Just like a cure for cancer if one desperately needs it one can get it and a doctor can easily prescribe the two (and advise use of the right quantity). Of course like i said before its unapproved and its not marketed for that reason, but its still available and i wouldnt be too surprised if there are many using it for that reason.

in all honesty i think they should get rid of these people- we dont need over 30 ministers. it doesnt make any sense. let states deal with thier own health, education, power and development and there can be a federal body overseeing all with constant input from the lower house of reps.

These job titles are draining funds and creating more disdain for political representatives. Its also creating avenues for corruption and leading to tyranny- since every body wants to be a politician to swallow money?? undecided undecided

I see jonathan isnt going to change anything. Well done OBJ you have outdone Gaddafi.

Multiple male hormonal contraceptive protocols have been developed. One is a combination protocol, involving injections of Depo-Provera to prevent spermatogenesis, combined with the topical application of testosterone gel to provide hormonal support.[23][24] Another is a monthly injection of testosterone undecanoate, which recently performed very well in a Phase III trial in China.[25][26]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Male_contraceptive

you ever heard of 'off label use'??

I will ignore the lamentations, you obviously dont know as much as you claim. Like mentioned, the combination works well to prevent spermatogenisis, with no extensive side effects.

Theyve deceloped this since 1992 and the same combination has been proven in ove 10 countries.

If someone desperately needed male contraception it wouldnt be difficult for a doctor to prescribe it.

@aminalib-- you wont because its not official, it hasn been approved and it hasnt been picked up by a pharmaceutical yet, mostly because there was problems with compliance. But it has long been proven that the combination works to decent effect.

^^^^ Alhaja Queenssmith! Before you start "hammering" Nigerians, could you also spare a thought for the environment we live in?
For example, if it were in Europe/America, you will get "funding" for all those "community projects" you mentioned but pray me, where will the man get funding, even if his head is busting with ideas?

Hmmm.,.,. no be Yams, over here o! huh huh No support at all, everyone is O-Y-O! On Your Own!! grin grin

Most things tha work over there, dont even "start" over here.

And again, at 40yrs, you canot not "gamble" with your future, "odd, here-and-there" is like playing with one's "old age"!
Remember that there is "No Welfare/Benefits" for the elderly over here, we just allow them to die of hunger!

Thats how "humane" we are! grin wink
lol this is the problem, as a 40 year old lawyer i assumed he has already established enough contacts/experience to enable him to ask for govt funding.

What have we benefited directly from Nigeria Govt? Elctricity? Good health care, good roads, Security of Lives and properties? Someone please tell me if im missing something.

For the first time Ever in NIgeria, Babatunde Raji Fashola is the only Person that came close. I repeat came close to allowing residents of Lagos State to have something to point to as dividends of Democracy. Yet there's still many things that are yet to be done. Tinubu wasted 8 years in Lagos same way OBJ wasted our destiny for 8 Years

The only thing we directly benefit is subsidy of PMS which to many its still high at N65/litre for a country that is blessed with abundance of Crude oil.

The Niger Delta that is supplying the wealth is not even enjoying anything they are blessed with. SMH[/quote]can u imagine!

this is exactly what i DONT understand! so are you people saying at the current price of fuel, the thing is subsidized? if its not subsidised nko??
Do these people not want ANYBODY to eat? Its hard enough, people are still dying of preventable and controllable diseases in that country, basic needs and requirements arent even being met and some people want to make life even HARDER?

Im never going to understand Nigerians. . . . . . . . . . . .never smh

@ poster- I bought the city and guilds careers book for a friend of mine who is a bit confused too. Unfortunately the average nigerian mind is limited when it comes to occupations- lawyer, doctor pastor politian. . . . . . . .if only the world ran on these things alone!

couldnt find a link to the book im afraid, but i think this should do:

at your age- youve probably acquired alot of experience; have you considered helping others? doing community development projects? odd pro bona here and there?
Thats something to definitely look at too. and though it will be completely different you wont have to study!

Politics › Re: Is The Fg Really Serious About Improving Power Supply? by queensmith: 1:25pm On May 17, 2011
Can you imagine!!!

In London, if you want to clean the windows of a school, you will have undertaken a government approved course in window cleaning, health and safety auditing, a full background and credit check and a PQQ assessment. All in all it will probably take a good 6 months for a brand new company to receive sufficient authorization and approval to clean the windows of a school which you probably wont be paid more than 100 pounds for! Now compare that to a company laying A WHOLE GAS PIPELINE and being paid 1.3 billion naira for it doing a shoddy job?

me thinks we need a complete reform of this government and its habits of awarding contracts.

Things like this mae me question democracy as a whole, isnt the whole point of a democratic government providing its citizens to chose its administration?

Now how is scrapping parties giving the people any sort of choice?

Wont it be better if we quit deceiving ourselves and simply give in to the elitist autocracy? Even in the countries non performance the same party has been ruling for almost 20 years now? Prior to that Nigerians never chose anything undecided undecided

Whats the end point?

Depo-Provera is the brand name for a 150 mg aqueous injection of DMPA depot medroxyprogesterone acetate currently available but marketed as a 'female contraceptive'

Advice on how doctors can prescribe testosterone gel,
http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/405823_4

Until retail production of a testosterone gel is commercially available, physicians might be able to use preparations made by compounding pharmacists. It is essential that the prescribing physician keep in mind the great inter- and intra-patient variability in the absorption of topical gels. Some men might not satisfactorily absorb testosterone through the skin at all, necessitating that parenteral methods be used instead. It is the responsibility of the treating physician to ascertain the effectiveness of these preparations by appropriate measurement of the serum levels in each patient. Finally, it is essential that the family physician spend time with his hypogonadal patient explaining not only the benefits and limitations of treatment but also safety issues. Some hypogonadal men will not respond to testosterone therapy with improved sexual function.[43,44] It is critically important that the patient understand that his treatment regimen is designed to offer him many benefits that do not simply begin and end with sexual performance.
now lets suppose for some strange reason; a dude needed injectable contraceptives. . . . . . .how hard will i REALLY be?

erm actually, as a health researcher in England, i CAN categorically tell you for a fact that MALE PILLS do NOT exist. Research is been carried out at present by pharmaceutical companies to develop hormonal methods for men as the only form of protection men can self administer are Vasectomy or/and Condoms.
see the link below for my evidence. your friend is playing with her life because she's having unprotected intercourse with a pathologically liar, a guy who may as well be bleeping a whole bunch of other girls. She should tread with caution.

http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/male-contraceptive-pill/Pages/Introduction.aspx
LOL you better step up on your research skills gurl, theres no time for that in ENGLAND tongue

the drug exists, i was trying to dig my closet for the review on it but 2 years is a long time- im sure you can find it on OVID with all your RESEARCH FACILITIES!

the drug has been around for at least 10 years. . . . not to say the guy is telling the truth.

All i remember was the issue of compliance- im guessing pharmaceuticals didnt want to pick it up cos they knew men wont use it.

Just because a drug isnt marketed and advertised on the newspaper doesnt mean it doesnt exist!

Okay, so where did I say it doesn't exist? I said it isn't available for public consumption. That includes the United States.

It doesn't affect sperm production. It stops the muscles from contracting and releasing sperm. The effects of that usually go away in half a day and the muscles are good to go again.
Im sure the drug is available in the states, only because the states have a history of selling drugs that havent been thoroughly reveiwed. Its not unheard of.
