Great move. The stupid insurgents have been bombing electricity transmission lines. With this intervention, Maiduguri will have light after many months of black out. For those asking about the fuel: it ia going to be powered by virtual pipeline (trucked LNG) most probably by Greenville. The LNG will be regasified near the power plant and the gas is used to produce the electricity. |

Jerryherd:

Soldiers weren't trained for civilian activities, using them constantly for civilian opreations is just wrong... She's a combatant, trained to kill and torture, her temperament is not meant for slayqueen civilian corper
The Female lieutenant was also dehumanised and beaten from day one she joined the service
To forestall future occurrence similar to this, Military should henceforth not be deployed to civilian training camp like NYSC, Military should not be used during protest, rally, or riots
. Shift abeg. Your excuses are utterly lame. The report said that the Lt has been detained already. That means she's gone against the rules. There's a department that handles civil-military relations. Just because someone is privileged to don a military khaki doesn't mean they should go around abusing everyone. |

Politics › Re: Railway Maintenance Depot In Agbor, Delta State (Pictures) by Quitam: 12:23pm On Sep 01, 2021 |
Yes. This has been completed. Agbor is the biggest station on the Warri-Itakpe rail line. I think it is going to be a major rail hub in the long term. The train has a lot of potential. It will ease the current hardships being faced by road passengers. People come from Bayelsa to catch the Warri train to Itakpe. Despite the morning train having a capacity of more than 500 people, it gets full in the shortest time.
But, one thing still baffles about the southern governors. What stops them from having a common front to Abuja to push for extension of rail lines. Link PH to say Agbor, Yenagoa to Agbor. Instead of fighting FG upandan, why not leverage your high negotiating power of oil revenues to drive such projects? This is politics- if you dont play the game well, you'll be outcast
On a general note, as a northerner i find it disheartening how most governors in Niger Delta are underperforming despite the high oil revenues. Many states in the north have better infrastructural imprints even with far lower allocations. At the end of the day, the state governors will be pitting the citizens against the FG when actually most of their problems are localised. If we dont change our mindsets in this country, we are going no where. Shalom |

Politics › 'Zulum Demolished 11 Mosques And 4 Churches' - MURIC by Quitam(op): 11:10pm On Aug 10, 2021 |
The Islamic human rights advocacy group, Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has revealed that the Borno State Government actually demolished 11 mosques and four churches.
MURIC said in a statement on Tuesday that its findings were contrary to claims that only churches were demolished in the state.
The statement reads:
“Contrary to a coordinated propaganda over the demolition of an EYN church in Maiduguri, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) can authoritatively report that the Borno State Geographic Information Systems (BOGIS) created by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, actually demolished 11 mosques and four churches, in the metropolis. The exercise began from 29th May, 2019 up till last week. “A team of investigators working with MURIC visited each of the sites where the mosques were demolished, interviewed residents and gathered photographs and data that showed locations of each of the 11 mosques and dates of their demolition by officials of Borno State Government for violation of purpose approved in residential titles, which was in compliance with a 2010 Government White paper in response to the 2009 Boko Haram insurgency, which strictly prohibited the conversion of any residential house to a place of worship, in all parts of Borno State.
“Findings showed that two mosques were demolished by BOGIS on 11th March, 2020, around Fato Sandi, behind works department in Maiduguri, not far from the Shehu of Borno’s palace, who is next to the Sultan in the hierarchy of Nigeria’s leadership of the Muslim community. The Shehu is the Vice President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).
“Two mosques were again demolished by BOGIS on the same day (March 11, 2020), at old Musami complex along Jos road in Maiduguri. Again, a mosque was demolished on the same day opposite former NITEL. Another mosque was demolished on April 15, 2020 along Kano Road, adjoining Bulumkutu, Yola Electricity Distribution Company, YEDC. Two mosques were again demolished, one near a hotel in Galadima and another near behind Timber shade, in Baga Road.
“Our investigators further discovered that five other mosques conspicuously located at the Customs round-about in the western part of Maiduguri-Bama road were also demolished by BOGIS on 23rd January, 2020, for what the government called ‘overriding public interest’.
“All the 11 mosques were demolished either for violating residential purposes in their allocation titles or for overriding public interest. Of the 11 mosques demolished, five were for overriding public interest and six for violations of residential titles whereas all the four churches demolished (including the EYN) were strictly demolished for converting residential houses to churches, the same way six mosques were demolished. The measures were in compliance with a 2010 white paper which is against illegal places of worship as measures of regulation.
“We are nonplussed by the immense false propaganda flying around on this issue and we invite anyone who is genuinely in search of the truth to also do his or her findings. We advise armchair critics to be more enterprising. A single phone call to a friend or acquaintance in Maiduguri will debunk all the noise.
“For the first time in ‘geography’, Nigerians are blessed with an uncommon governor making things work in an uncommon way. Governor Babagana Umara Zulum may not have come from Mars, but his handiwork appears alien. It is satanic to attempt to bring down this wonderful performer via religious blackmail. Leave Governor Zulum alone. Allow him to concentrate on his good work.” https://dailynigerian.com/zulum-demolished-mosques/

bigfish3k: Why SW? As you hate SE but can't exist without them Then it should be SS first in that order It's not hate Sir. It's the reality of politics. It's the SW that have positioned itself best to clinch the presidency. They formed alliance with north in 2015 and most probably the north will pay them back. As for the SS, they enjoyed the presidency for 5 years in the last decade. So, their comeback in this decade is less likely |

What he said is the stark truth and i salute his courage for voicing it out. As a region, you can be antagonistic to an administration. However, make sure you don't put all your eggs in one basket. IMO, the activities of IPON and their passive apologists have spoiled the SE's chances of producing the next president. The most probable southern region to become president in 2023 is SW followed by SS then lastly SE. The earlier the SEners realise this, the better for them. You may have the best entrepreneurs and SMEs,........, but you have to play the game smartly. Don't harbor too much hatred for your fellow country men because you benefit from them economically. Use your political tact and clout to secede and not by violence. |

Thanks for expounding on this. My friends who are noble christians don't support it. It's difficult fighting immorality in this modern world, but we have to do it to save our spiritual lives. I was once entrapped in the sin of intermittent porn watching due to the allure of social media, but I'm now free from it. Alhamdulillah. Whether you like it or not, watching immorality has effects on your psyche. Victims tend to see women as sex objects. Your self confidence and esteem plummet. You destroy family values which in turn destroys society. Some ignoble trolls will surely come to smear this thread. I beg you in the name of God to cite a verse in the Bible or whatever divine book you believe in, supporting watching BBN/porn. Shalom |

The abolishment or non implementation of tge death penalty is a major cause of frequent killings. When a criminal knows that he won't be killed for murdering innocent people, it doesn't augur well for a peaceful society. If every convicted BHT, kidnapper, kidnapper and armed robbers have been sent to their ancestors, it will have sent a message of "An Eye for an eye". |

aycorporat: Thanks for bringing this up. I was actually born in Sokoto and grew up there though a Yoruba boy and I must say I got good knowledge on the life times of Alhaji Shehu Shagari as I often visited his house at Sama road. I visited Rabah at one time and discovered that the house of the Sardauna has been converted to a Local Government Secretariat. Good old times! It's a pain that the security and homely feeling then might not be there again due to the incessant insecurities in the north as I left Sokoto over ten years ago. We need more history on this great men from the northern region and their achievement.
By the way, I discovered that name Jean Boyd is almost on every Hausa publication. Was he a colonialist with good knowledge on the Hausa language? Yes. Jean Boyd must have been proficient with the Hausa language. The most notable white personality in terms of contribution to early Hausa literature was Rupert East. It was he who recruited Abubakar Imam(author of the popular Magani Jari Ce) to translate books in Hausa for school children. |
