Mayor555: But one can run an engine on ground...the ears of gods will hear, if something is wrong, couple with physical inspection.
Engines can be bought without going wrong...
Or I'm getting something wrong?
By the way, I have a rebuilt engine still going strong after 8yrs. But it was not done in Nigeria. I did say you would have to run it. I didn't say they couldn't be bought without going wrong. My point is chances of an issue are higher. So I assume you're so confident in your engine picking abilities you offer a warranty like Gazzuzz? Because even there where they run and test engines before sale, we have received bad ones. I will never be able to sleep as well at night with a bought one versus one that I know what was done to it. It's the engine replacements that used to keep me up at night. |

You guys will soon understand we are not here to play. Nothing I've said is strange or unusual in the USA. It's the bare minimum. If I have to live in Naija, you best believe it will become the bare minimum here. Just give it some time. |

obekediamondfuto: engine swap? first grade, direct fit and measurements from the factory.....assurance from quality assurance officers ...... and time efficient.
rebuild? only if I get a 1yr warranty.... that in event of any failure I get 70percent of my money back....
I don't mean warranty that will involve another rebuild oh..... then technicalities will come into play..... oil and filter etc that client must bear plus the time it will take for another rebuild ..... abeg.... mbok... I will be needing my money back.
the 30 percent forgone is the usage of the engine in terms of service usage before the catastrophe.
one thing is this, a well seasoned mechanic knows a good engine when he analyses it. it's this simple. Not always true. I mentioned earlier that with the equipment we have, we could fool a seasoned mechanic because the fault would be internal and only discovered when it was installed and then torn down. Happens all the time. Only way to be sure at purchase is to make sure they have tested the engine previously and promise to take it back if it doesn't start. |

We haven't said what is wrong yet to be quoting repair. Plus like I said in other thread, rusty bolts are easy with right equipment. Those are not the only two options for that problem. Call Glen. He'll teach you something new. |

Inception: For the 2nd option , the tools used and specifications religiously followed is key: Torqueing, cylinder bore measurements, crankshaft journal measurements, top cylinder valve shims/ rocker am tappets measurements, Cylinder head bolts torqueing sequence( torque to yield?) Checking for ovality in cylinder walls ( for engines plagued with piston slap) which might require reboring of cylinder, piston ring installation sequence on piston etc etc ... The wahala and the variables considering the clime we are in too much abeg( imagine when reboring is required, where can it be done with peace of mind in Nigeria using the right tools?)

GAZZUZZ: meaning if I buy a used engine under 100,000 miles I have about 200,000 miles of happiness left
Now the big question
how many Nigerians can cover 200,000 miles on ownership of 1 particular vehicle? Partially incorrect IMO. The car you can find yes and have that kind of usage left. But to find the engine alone in that condition in the used market? What would be the reason for removing the engine for sale alone? Unless there was a collision that totalled the car, in which case the engine would most likely no longer be in the same condition. You're most likely not going to find the engine from that car in the used engine market. Not even close. Now about the second part, none with 20w50 |

Car Talk › Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by radautoworks: 5:41pm On Aug 16, 2018 |
GreekDon: Please Honda Gurus here, is this a normal driving condition for the 8th generation Accord? Mine is 2009 Lx-P i4.(Automatic Transmission). When driving, I take my foot off the gas pedal and let the car cruise on its own. Normally with any other car it will just smoothly cruise along until it comes to stop on its own due to forces of nature. But that is different with this car. What happens is when the speed goes around under 20-35 mph, there is a sudden slow down, as if you just down shifted your gear, the RPM drops and car actively slows down itself as if I had applied brakes. This happens even if I am driving on level road, once I lift my foot off the gas pedal, and speed comes around 20-35 mph, there is noticeable downshift and slowdown as if you just applied the brakes. Driving in traffic is very annoying because you have to keep hitting the gas pedal every now and then. I believe this also affects the mpg of this car. Is this normal? Are there users of this model experiencing same thing? You answered your own question |

this issue of engine replacement is a very big issue in Nigeria esp with the fact that those that rebuild are few and lack sense of responsibility.....
but with what u are offering, I think we are ready to think outside our usual confines....
only that ladipo will suffer small Ladipo will be just fine. Market still plenty for borale |
