I admire your intelligence, trust me, I do and regardless of what some have said here you're smart. But what I don't admire is you trying too much to explain things to people who don't care, that you don't need!

I wonder how he managed to do that. Makes her reaction easily predictable which is a terrible sign of weakness or insecurity.

He challenged her to show her bank statement on how she runs her business, am suspecting she won't disappoint but am seriously hoping I am wrong.

New year proposal. Ignore anyone unproductive on this thread. So much derailing as a result- which I let myself get sucked into. From last couple of posts it's more obvious japa just needs to get a rise and knows nothing about most of the people he is taking trash to. He has obviously never been to the shop (which a lot of you have) and never keeps his word. Just a sad little man in a sad little world. Like one other person he is banished from my reality and no longer exists smiley

2021 I hope there are more of you like donfortunate who will be able to liberate themselves from people like japa. Those of you who do buy your own car, DM me I have something for you.

I pray the Lord's protection over all of you.
Covid-19 will not see you in this new wave.
Surge will be your portion.
Those of you doing Uber as a means to an end will achieve your goals in 2021.
Those of you who enjoy Uber will experience peaceful trips and maximum earnings.
Those with new babies, they will grow wise and strong.
Those newly married will have wives that elevate not repress them.
Those looking will find the same.
And in all your successes, you will remember as you climb the ladders of success to look back and pull up one person behind you.

These are my prayers for you for 2021. God bless all of you.

I want to tender my unreserved apology to Godfather10.

I'm sincerely sorry for not just believing your 800k savings prediction for nov/Dec, but for countering you with my statistics. Making you look like a liar.

I'm truly sorry.

I'm also grateful to you bro. For you made me up my game. And yes, I reached an unbelievable height trying.
If I add half of what I spent on repairs and bring back the ones I spent on Xmas packages, wedding gift and condolences to friends to what's in my account right now, I would have over 1m saved from Nov/Dec. Which is even way more than the 800k you predicted.

I just sent 1m to my bro yesterday to get me an 09 matrix. We import cars.

Thanks for you woke me up bro
And please accept my apology.
Congrats! Make sure he has it thoroughly inspected and buy at least one each of maintenance items to put in side. Brake pad, 4 filters, wiper, ball joint, stabilizer link, Swati bar bushing, 4 spark plugs, 2 coils and you should good for at least two years.

to recap from all the "alternative facts"

My own is simple.
1) dashboard Nov/dec 800k or more
2) fuel expenses Nov/dec
3) "something for the boys" expenses Nov/dec
4) parts/maintenance expenses Nov/dec
5) data expenses to stay online Nov/dec

Someone scoffed about keeping track which is why the tongue in cheek response about bank statement. Eyinola's log meets all the criteria.

Please free the young man. He is clearly up for fight. Raudautoworks' condition doesn't necessarily need you to show whether the 800k saved or earned is still in yiur acct or already spent elsewhere. The condition doesn't ask for expenses outside operational ones. You can as well blow off your earned 800k on drinks, does that disqualify one if he can show he really earns that 800k after all operational expenses? No. But our friend is angry, either by deliberate misunderstanding or something else. Let's not overflog the issue with him.

Since they are mostly getting the cars brand new, they will have saved more than the cost of hybrid lbattery from the fuel, unlike in Nigeria when the hybrid battery might be on its last month's before being shipped.

Is honda accord really in category B? I think it should be C. Accord, EOD & DC are cheap when compared to the Corolla of same year. A friend of mine bought naija used EOD for 650k and still uses it till date. Drives Ife to Lagos frequently. I think accord should be C, like civic.

Unless I'm not understanding your analogy
I wasn't sure what they go for. You are right if that's what they go for. Solid C. Editing.

On a serious note though, I agree one should look for cheap cars to maximize returns but in my opinion/experience those cars are cheap up front but expensive down the road (A). The converse is expensive upfront but cheap down the road (B). The perfect car is in the middle C. None is necessarily bad and may suite different people. Personally if I drive for a living I want a B or C (parts availability is never a problem if you hardly ever need them wink.

Bear in mind I don't know street value of a lot of these in Nigeria so I'm going off street value in the US and through the eyes of mechanics. Adjust perception accordingly. Some of the As might be Ds in Nigeria (expensive upfront AND down the road).

Considerations are ruggedness, fuel efficiency, comfort and holistic cost of spare parts maintenance (factoring in costs of parts, amount of time repairs take, lost business during that time and how often the parts break).

A Volkswagen Jetta 1.8L
C Nissan Sentra 2.0L
A Hyundai Accent 1.6L
A Kia Rio 1.6L
C Honda city 1.3L
A Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6L
A Ford Focus 1.6L
A Hyundai xcent 1.3L
B Hyundai Elantra 1.6/2.0L

EDIT: let me add to the list
B Toyota Corolla
C Honda Civic
B Honda Accord
C toyota matrix
C toyota echo
C TOYOTA PRIUS
B Subaru Impreza
C Nissan versa
B/C literally any small Volvo

Will add as I think of more. Any one care to share their experiences/thoughts on some of these particularly the less popular ones?

Scratching my head. So many numbers embarassed
TLDR, cost of parts alone isn't cost of maintenance. Some cars were designed by Satan himself and something that should take 20 minutes will take 4 hours. So you have to factor in costs of parts, amount of time repairs take, lost business during that time and how often the part breaks into maintenance costs. Your time is extremely valuable too!.

How often you change the mondeo hub I doubt is the same as the Corolla. Not saying it's bad, just saying like I always do to know all the caveats. I know little about the mondeo which is why I didn't say anything about it.

That's the machine breakdown and maintenance we are talking about. Frequency of breakdown is the bone of contention here.

Last I checked, a toks pair of corolla wheel hubs, cost over 28k naira.
But a ford Mondeo's hub is a paltry 8k tongue
how often do both need changing though? I genuinely don't know with the mondeo? Like you said frequency matters. Let's use dru's favorite example oil. You can use the 5k oil for a lot of these cars and change every 3 months or 2-3,000 miles or you can spend 17-27k on synthetic extended mileage for 6 months or 10,000 miles. Liquid cash may make option one more appealing until you consider certain things. It's not just about the cost of the parts.

For the sake of simplicity let's use miles and assume you do your own oil changes so no labor.

In 10,000 miles on option one syn blend:
5k oil *5
1-1.5k oil filter *5
Min 2k LOST TRIPS DURING OIL CHANGES *5
25k + 5-7.5k + 10k = 40-47k on maintenance

On option two extended mileage synthetic mobil, Pennzoil, castrol, etc
17-27k oil *1
2-3.5k filter *1
Min 2k lost during oil change *1
17-27k + 2-3.5k + 2k = 21-32.5k on maintenance

Same applies to any repair you're doing. frequency of repair is a killer for you guys. there is a formula to calculate the actual cost of each repair. For Rad Auto, for every $1 we lose in warranty work or mistake correction, we have to make $5 to avoid losing money. One would have to do the math for e-hailing.

But you will not envy them when it is time to replace the hybrid battery grin but the Prius rarely have issues
exactly. I'm more in the school of once a lifetime headache than repair everyday like I mentioned earlier. Time spent in the shop is literally money lost in e-hailing.

You didn't have a problem with japa telling men how to spend their money tho. What you have a problem with is that you messed up when you started mouthing off prematurely and can't win this argument logically. You sound so bitter man. You have only successfully displayed a major attitude of a mediocre.

"WuruWuru to the answer" Naija's greatest undoing.

It is the reason a lot of things are not properly done.

You should be grateful she included those conditions and helped with a better idea on how to be organized.

Should be one of the things you focus on after now, if you're not practising that already.

Her contribution is in every way priceless, it's way more than the 10k.

Their differences:

One supports mediocrity

Rad supports originality and accountability (enyiola's paper work)

You posted nothing worthy of a second read. Earnings are earnings.

100 drivers making 100k a week driving different cars and obeying traffic laws differently can not and can never have the same expenditure. That you want to come across as a very smart woman is quite understandable but you need to accept the fact that no driver spends money the same.

Not every driver pays police or lasts nor do they spend sane amount on data or phone calls, so demanding that as a prerequisite while hijacking a simple contest is absolute bullshit and I need to to understand that semantics cannot sway me.
Japa jr na by force to participate? Leave my contest go collect 10k from japa na lol. Like him you refuse to comprehend. I can only handle one slow person at a time.

But seriously she too does not have authority to tell people how to balance their sheet. Even when the guy that was driving to save his salary for a project stated his reasons, he was schooled in a tad condescending manner. Many people do uber for several reasons and many do not do it as a business required to keep books.

Let everyman be. Personally I think she should have stayed out of it. JPworld with his rascally behaviour seemed to have built a house in her head without her realising it.
Let me salaye. I was condescending because his previous response was condescending. Japa irritates the crap out of me yes but when dru and a couple of others threw contributions in and I knew winner would get some money, then I saw unrealistic dashboards furthering a false narrative, THAT pushed me over join in. If you notice I even changed my original statement. My original was simply to follow suite but the dashboards made me change that because investors would get the wrong idea about earnings.
