Looks like swallowing the PH Refinery would be much easier. KarlTom: Another drama unfolding https://www.cnc3.co.tt/kamla-unc-wont-honour-any-refinery-deal-the-pnm-signs/
"However, noting issues with the arrangement, Persad-Bissessar said, “The entire country knows that this disposal of the refinery on the eve of a general election is a last-gasp corrupt deal to fill the pockets of this outgoing government."
“This is the third time this Government has found disreputable (sic) persons to gift the refinery. The first were two electricians in a storefront in the US called Quanten LLC, then corruption-accused Jindal and now corruption-plagued Oando,” she alleged."
“The UNC will not honour any agreement that this Government enters into regarding the Pointe-a-Pierre refinery and we guarantee that the UNC will pursue investigations against everyone who participates in this theft of the refinery assets.” |

The following is from Meta AI:
The Pointe-a-Pierre Refinery, also known as the Pierre Refinery, is located in Trinidad and Tobago. It was once the country's largest refinery, operating for over 100 years before its closure in 2018 ¹.
The refinery was initially built by Trinidad Leaseholds Ltd in 1917, with a production capacity of 75,000 barrels of oil per day. Over the years, it underwent several upgrades and expansions, including a major refurbishment that took seven years to complete and was officially opened in 2000 ².
At its peak, the refinery had a capacity of 190,000 barrels per day and was equipped to produce various petroleum products, including liquid petroleum gases, unleaded motor gasoline, and aviation gasoline ¹. However, due to significant financial losses, lack of competitiveness, and declining production, the Trinidad and Tobago government announced its closure in 2018, resulting in approximately 5,500 job losses ¹.
Since its closure, there have been efforts to sell the refinery, with the Trinidad and Tobago government negotiating with potential buyers. |

Sometimes I am a conspiracy theorist. I believe those major shareholders of Oando who agreed to pay back their loans in shares are pulling a classic short on the stock. They agreed to pay back in stock at a very high price, say N100 per share. However instead of giving up the stock immediately they are holding it and giving it to the other shareholders in bits. This means they are practically borrowing the shared as a short seller would do. Now they crash the price and buy it back at lower a lower price. A classic short. This scheme will be even more perfect if they pay in cash in subsequent tranches. Streetinvestor2: Wale and his proxy are delisting minority shareholders from back door...my street sense |

He doesn't have to be "given" any of the old NNPC refineries. He can build a new one from scratch. Alhaji did the same thing after he was denied buying those refineries. And see where he is now. It is not also what is good for a company, but the Nation. That is where the sacrifice for patriotism comes in. In the end it is not the money you made for yourself and your family that people remember you by, but what you did to your fellow men and nation. megawealth01: If he is given refinery now una go shout JAGABAN is buying up NAIJA through proxies... In as much I don't want to say certain things in public but Wale should be let to do what will improve the coy but cowboi na cowboi any day |

It will be very unpatriotic to invest $15b in a foreign refinery at this time when Nigerian private refining industry is just taking off. I know that business should not be done on sentiment. But as a Nigerian I will hate to see that happen. Besides, in the event that that refimery in Trinidad is bought by a compny operating in the upstream of the Nigerian oil operations, will definitely be run with Nigerian crude, at the expense of Nigerian refiners and local jobs. The refined products will then be imported back to compete with the local refined ones in the name of encouraging competition. zendi: The funny thing is that Wale is not even acting as if Oando has money problem. He went to the sideline of World Economic Forum to brag that Oando has one billion barrel s of crude oil underground. He is looking to buy (I know by International financing) a $15b Refinery in Trinidad. And I'm not hearing a lot of noise about money raising.
I don't know, maybe the man has a secret solution for Oando money problems. |

But seriously, if the share redistribution can easily be changed to cash "dividend", then can we say that the possibility of its being canceled all together cannot be ruled out? I think we should just take things as they come. Three years is a long time. yMcy56: Panic retailers selling..... More opportunities to load in my opinion.
Someone said the remaining shares for distribution might ikely not come as bonus again after June qualification. It may come as dividend instead.......
I still see this selloff as opportunity to load more, for those who still have spare funds.......and of course, bargainers are loading. The quantities on offer aren't that much.
I still don't see how OANDO and ETERNA will be trading at similar or closer value... |

It will even get better when importation of refined Petroleum products significantly reduces. Public opinion is now strongly against importation. The current issues on the viral fuel quality test video and the 2025 importation figures released in the media have really put NNPC on the defensive. We will see how things unfold. mikeapollo: Let us thank Dangote for the refinery. His singular investment is what has reduced the demand for dollar and relaxed the pressure on the naira. If not, we would have been buying dollar for about N2,000 or more right now. |

It is SEC's fault. They should fine banks for any late filing of results and not give any extensions based on the excuse of waiting for CBN approval. That way CBN will get the message. sterlingD: From past antecedents give it 4 weeks.l went back to check the trend for 2022 and 2023. This is from my perspective, and that of several others here who loudly complained about the price movement of Transpower. yMcy56: OK. I Blvd you also know there are long termers on this platform.....they buy sound FA stocks for value creation over years, they buy for dividends and buy for stream of income over time. Streetinvestor2: You never talk watin truly dey your mind ..lol ositadima1: 1-meter challenge.
The scores so far: NNFM - 157%, UACN - 65%, UPDC - 108%, SEPLAT - (-5%), CHAMS - 17%.
No wonder I sleep picifully these days. Kindly state your entry prices ositadima1: Presco - 70%. That’s my progress so far; I have no reason to lie, unlike some people here.
Now, think with me—Pa Emma has been praising Presco since late last year, around November. Yet, despite all the hype, Presco has only gained about 70%. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a solid stock, which is why I entered early in the year after selling Dangote Sugar. But the one he vehemently dismissed? It did over 13 baggers—13, not 3, but 13! Oando!
What I’m saying is, the so-called gurus aren’t always right. Don’t let their opinions limit you, especially when they call a stock worthless. Just because you had a bad experience doesn’t mean history will repeat itself. And failing to manage your affairs properly doesn’t mean everyone else will fail the same way. That’s simply not true. |
