I don't think observing and pointing out governance lapses of a company amounts to discouraging others from buying its stock. People decide to buy stocks for different reasons, including governance issues. Infact, it is when you are a stockholder, genuinely interested in progress of the company, that you worry and point out problems that need fixing. I would like to believe that it is the constant criticisms by both stockholders and regulators that brought about the New Oando that @Bagwa pointed out. yMcy56: Thanks. Some people don't want to see anything good in this company no matter how much efforts being put in place to turn things around for good.
Funny enough, most of those posting negative comments about OANDO are well seated in the bus, but discouraging uninformed investors/others about the good potentials of this stock.
That was how many were prevented from enjoying the rally all the way from N8 to N70/N98 the first time......a Sprint which saw O&O as the 2nd best performing stock in 2024 on NGX.
Issokay o. Like previously advised, anyone with spare money should try and have some in his/her portfolio for medium to long term.......
Do your DD, if you like, let those that once enjoyed the windfall and are again loaded and well seated in the bus continue to discourage you. If you're for MMM, na you Sabi. Invest based on the future potentials of this company.
Enough said.....in OGG's voice. 😁

How about announcing a close period 27 days after they claimed to have started it? Looks like someone reminded them of the statutory deadline of 31st January for the release of the UFS and they are scrambling to meet it. This may also explain the caveat on the BM date since the rush may not allow them to meet the date. unite4real: The third line as cut out below sounds like they are not sure of the meeting holding. Why are they having such a clause.
that a meeting of the Board of Directors of Oando Plc ("the Company" is scheduled to take place on January 30, 2025, or on such earlier or adjourned date as may be determined |

Of course. Probably even his friend Alhaji could chip in. Btw. What happened to the publicized arraignment of those FBN people? sky2891: There was also 10m units on 31-12-2024, which makes it about N10b additional to the N5b. Still a scratch but not to say that whoever is selling is banking on this alone to raise funds. Little from here and there including existing funds from his/her billionaire pocket, other business proceeds and even taking loans if need be. |

Well, every kobo counts of course. But 5m units of Geregu is just about N5b. The private placement in FBN is N350b. Hardly a scratch. KarlTom: Possibly. Exactly 5million units sold... |

These deals in 99k tranches are not on queue. Could it be a cross deal that is split to avoid price movement? |

Or. Suppose you want to distribute the cash equivalent of shares, would you want the price of those shares to rise? mikeapollo: Yes, of course, an international oil bloc should be a big news. Unless the volumes of oil and gas that would be coming from the Angola bloc are insignificant. I suspect some people may want to keep the news lying low in order for them to mop up more of Oando shares. |

I don't think share cancelation works very well in the Nigerian mentality because people can't see clear and immediate benefits to their pockets. Harvestock01: Oando going ahead to cancel the entire shares that was pledge for the loan would have been a more straightforward solution rather than all the needless controversy that have been generated.
Obtaining shareholders approval at an AGM or EGM and thereafter obtaining SEC approval before going ahead to actually cancel the shares. This will have a more positive impact on the shareholders as the share price will firm up and the financial ratios will also improve.
Anyway, let's enjoy the show by the evil genius. |

Add the amount of wrangling, distraction and cost that the cash option will entail. But if they can pay it will give them even more control of the company. mikeapollo: The problem may be from some ignorant shareholders who made the request at the last Oando AGM. Whether they were influenced by Wale or not, I cannot say. But I don't think Oando would go for cash distribution. Because that option would imply $325m at N1500 (minimum), to be spread over 4.3billion shares, which would place a value of at least N110 per share on each share (if I am not mistaken) |

Sounds like a country well suited for Nigerian businessmen. KarlTom: Without being sentimental, I disagree with your perspective.
From the article, it's stated that the qualifications for operator status are financial&technical capacity.
As shareholders of OandO, we have no idea of the true state of the organization's financial standing.
So there is a high possibility that the presidential phones in Aso Villa and Palácio da Cidade Alta had a recent deal-clinching connection

You said you are buying to HOLD. I assume you bought those 80% of bank shares to hold long term. You must have some objectives for doing that. The banks' recapitalization will not change the long term situation of the banks. So why sell? saintjimos: Thank you, currently 80% of my shares are banks So your advice is that I should sell them off? |
