PoliticsRe: PDP Governors Vow To Maintain Lead Across The Nation by Raiders: 2:56am On Apr 02, 2015
mikeansy:
Exactly

For the sake of Nigeria democracy. The PDP need to remain formidable.

Nobody wants another one party state!
PDP is going to lose many states. I don't see them winning any state in the whole north apart from Adamawa. The governorship election is going to end up like the presidential election except pdp might lose Abia, Rivers and Imo if the election is free and fair. PDP might end up winning only Akwa Ibom, Adamawa, Delta, Enugu, Adamawa and maybe Plateau and Adamawa.
PDP is doomed and only God can save them to survive the 2019 election because they will no longer have access to the federal government money and protection. Its a shame that 8 years ago they were the biggest party in Africa and now they are fighting for their survival. PDP blew their chance to improve Nigeria after 16 years in power and even boost that they will be in power for 60 years.

No one is saying Obama is not a good president. No one is comparing him to bush. No one is talking about ratings. I am on the ground here I can tell you first hand how Americans feel about Obama.

US economy is growing but it is not affecting the lives of the common man with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poor. Median family income is still stagnant. Medicare is still struggling. Most people hate him. The eldorado he promised in the name of change is yet to be actualized yet.

All I am trying to say is simple. It is one thing to promise and another to deliver. Just like Obama, Buhari and his change party have painted the picture of eldorado for us all ... 4 years from now the reality that comes with fulfilling his promise will hit him, the excuses will surely pour in, Nigerians no matter what he does and the effort he puts will still complain, We will never be satisfied, and the cycle will continue.

As for me I believe as the New president, lets give him the space and backing he needs because either way it goes it is a win win for me. If he succeeds in building the eldorado he promise I get to enjoy it as a Nigerian, If he fails he would have proved his critics like me right.
I am also in America too. In the state I reside at Obama is loved and he visited my city of residency 2 week ago and alot of people came out to see him. Maybe you live in a republicans state so its natural for them to hate Obama because he is black. If another election is held today Obama is going to win any republicans. It is normal for a sitting president party to lose mid term election during his last 2 years . It doesn't mean that Obama is not still popular. It is normal for politicians to make big promises that they will not be able to keep but I think Obama has tried his best. Tho there is still room for improvements.

Anyway, l agree with you that we should give Buhari time. I am from the South-South and I personally think GEJ did not perform to expectations. We only supported him because he was from our region but he didn't do any major project in the SS. There is still oil population in most Niger delta villages, he could not complete the East-West highway road after spending 6 years in office. Most people are still suffering in the south. GEJ didn't achieve much in the area of corruption and he pardon the corrupt Ex governor of Bayelsa which is wrong.

All I just want Buhari to do is to improve electricity, fight corruption and improve security. If he can achieve this 3 areas then I think history will judge him as a good president.
PoliticsRe: Twitter Fans Angrily Reply Dr. Reuben Abati. by Raiders: 1:48am On Apr 02, 2015
Abati has spoil his good name. He was one of the most respected journalist before joining the GEJ team. He was always critical of PDP and other political parties. Now he is no longer respected.

Nigerians professors are one of the worse in the world. Most of them are lazy, they give other people to grade their students examination and don't know how to teach
PoliticsRe: The Excuses Begin. by Raiders: 1:38am On Apr 02, 2015
Matthewbriggs:
Expect more excuses ... Obama ran on the same word change. He promised the American's heaven and earth. Till today they are yet to feel the eldorado he promised them. It is therefore of no surprises the democrats lost to the republicans in the senate. It is easy to promise ... delivering on that promise is another ball game.

For what it is what lets give him the space he needs and the backing he needs ... a better Nigeria profits all of us.
It seems you watch too much fox news. Obama is one of the best US president in this century. America economy was in shambles before obama too over from Bush . no thanks to Bush who spend trillions of dollars on 2 useless wars. Unemployment was in double digits and the economy was in recession before obama too over now the unemployment rate is less than 6% and the US economy is growing.
You don't have to use the mid terms election last year to judge President Obama legacy because his approval ratings is still higher than Bush.
On the issue of Buhari, Nigerians should give him time and also support him. You don't expect him to change things in 1 month. After 4 years, we should judge his government to see if there is improvements
PoliticsRe: Can The SW Ascend The Presidency Without The SS/SE by Raiders: 9:07pm On Apr 01, 2015
fitzmayowa:
The only way SW can win a presidential election, is to seek alliance with SS and SE, because an average northerner will vote his "person" over any other region...

The northerners don't care about the party they care about their people, a typical example is the person that contested against kwankwanso for one of the senatorial seat in kano, the PDP guy got more votes than GEJ in the presidential election...

For a SW president (if someone from SW is contesting against someone from the north) to be visible SS and SE must be on board with SW...IMO
OBJ won the north in both 1999 and 2003. The last time I checked OBJ is from the SW

If you believe APC will handover their ticket to an igbo man, you can as well believe Shekau would be the next Pope of the Catholic church
why do you think APC will not hand over their party ticket to an Igbo man. PDP/GEJ never had plans to give their ticket the east. Infact, GEJ said he would hand over the next pdp ticket to the north in 2019. I personally think the next presidential candidate for pdp will be from the north. Besides pdp didnt give the VP and president slots to an Igbo man in the last 16 years. I think the Igbos have a better shot of getting the presidency ticket with APC than with PDP if they play their cards well.

Let's assume Buhari finishes his Tenure and the APC presents Osibanjo or any other person from the SW and PDP presents a northern candidate, will the northerners vote for the APC? Can such a SW candidate make it without votes from the SE/SS?
Rochas is going to get the APC ticket if Buhari decide to hand over to the south. The SW and SS has have their turn so its time for SE. Okorocha is love across north and south and he speak fluent hausa. Rochas is the only Igbo man that can win election in the north if he gets Buhari blessing. My only hope is for Rochas to win the imo state governor election so he can still be relevant in Nigeria politics when Buhari hand over to the south. Osinbanjo is not a politician but a technocrat and might be a horrible president
PoliticsRe: What If Jonathan Recontests For President In 2019 by Raiders: 8:34pm On Apr 01, 2015
I doubt if pdp will give GEJ their party ticket. GEJ failed pdp and his influence in the party has reduce. GEJ might not even win the pdp ticket if he contest in 2019. The only reason he won the ticket in 2011 and 2015 is because he is president. Now even Fayose will have more influence in pdp than GEJ because he is still a governor. I think GEJ political carreer is over. I think he accomplish a lot and he should be proud of his accomplishments. He has been deputy governor, governor, VP and president for 6 yrs. So he should retire as an elder state man like General Abubakar

Northerners are busy killing northerners in d north, and Ur shallow brain is blaming a man from the Niger delta.
As long as northerners choose to be bombing d north and they have support of their people,so it shall be.The people perpetrating these killings are not ghosts, they are equally aided and abetted by human beings too.
I am not blaming a man from Niger Delta. I am blaming Mr president because its the job of the president to protect all Nigerians. How would you feel if a terror Islamic yoruba group started killing yorubas and the president of Nigeria fails to protect you and your family? Would you be happy if your daughter and her friends were kidnapped from her school and force into slavery while the president jet out to party the following day like he don't care.

Let's be sincere, the north voted buhari because he was their own,not because he had any better programme that GEJ.
The west voted Buhari simply because of the Osibanjo/Tinubu factor. Afterall, buhari has been contesting since, why didn't they recognise him as the change all this while.
I ask an ardent yoruba Apc supporter if he would have been clamouring for this change if Buhari had chosen Rochas or Ngige as running mate,he never answered.
Its all tribal.
Last note: let's pray that Apc learns from GEJ and provide a level electoral playing field to vote them out when they fail to perform(though I doubt).
GEJ would still have lost if Buhari had chosen Rochas or an Igbo man as VP. This election was never about Buhari because he has been rejected 3 times by Nigerians. This election was about Nigerians passing a vote of no confident on GEJ/PDP government. APC knew that Nigerians wanted change from PDP that is why their slogan was Change

Jonathan was not the president when Boko Haram leader was killed. Almajiri schools, roads, Agriculture were some of the things jonathan did for this ungrateful northerners, now tell me what any northern president did for his people apart from grossly enriching themselves.
what good is road, school and Agriculture when there is no security and people are dying every day from bomb blast? The northerners were living like refugees in their own country and GEJ refuse to protect them. Infact he only visited the north eastern state weeks to the election so he could campaign. GEJ failed the people of the north
PoliticsRe: Buhari's Presidency: Tribalism Wins Competence by Raiders: 10:47am On Apr 01, 2015

There is no reason why Nigeria should continue being a united country when we now place ethnic interests over competence and performance. The yorubas have supported with the hausas to return to the status quo of their born to rule. I don't expect any democracy dividend from a buhari presidency for the masses because Buhari didn't even present a manifesto. All he did was sell his ethnicity to his north while the yorubas did for their region.
Jonathan has done more for the north than any president from the north and yet tribalism defeated him. I want to ask all igbos to boycott this government and prepare for the next election with awareness and tribalism. Igbos should make sure that they are not shortchanged in the upcoming census. There is no reason why katsina should have more population than Anambra.

Enough said!
What has GEJ done for the north? Over 20,000 Nigerians in the North has been killed during GEJ 6 yrs in office. All Nigerians should support Buhari for the next 5 years if he fails then he should be voted out like GEJ.

Reuben Abati, the former editor of guardian newspaper was well known for his critical analysis of various govt policies and was seen to be on side of the masses. But, when he crossed over to the ruling class, his ardent readers of his weekly column on guardian became surprised on how much he has transformed. Spewing bare-face lies and trying to defend the wrong policies of the govt.
I used to also read his satire column in Guardian. In fact, My friend used to buy Guardian newspaper every Wednesday just to read Abati column. I think his credibility is lost because I will never take him serious again on any issue involving government and I believe he has lost most of his loyal readers

Thanks
I agree with some of your points. GEJ had no choice but to accept defeat. He knows the whole world is watching him and the Americans and British warn him to conduct a free and fair election. If GEJ had his way, he would have sack and replace Jega but he was advice by the Americans not to do so. GEJ used his men to rig elections and intimidate the opposition in Rivers, Delta and Akwa Ibom so that he can get inflated figures but he was outdone by high votes from kano and other northern cities. I still thank him for accepting defeat so that no lives is lost because there might be violence if he didn't accept defeat

plux4:
it will not be applicable here because ameachi/omehia was basically one party affair (pdp) affair. But in dis case it involve two different parties.
Even if Buhari is disqualified by the courts. Gov. Kwakwaso of Kano will take over because APC won the election. PDP only hope of removing Buhari is if they can prove the election was rigged to favour Buhari. The certificate court case is not going to make the court declare pdp winner.
Anyway I think the court is going to strike out the case because Buhari is qualified and meet the constitution requirement. The whole certificate issue was just to distract Buhari. I believe Buhari wrote and pass his waec. He already prove that with is statement of result
PoliticsRe: Buhari May Still Be Disqualified!!! by Raiders: 9:19pm On Mar 31, 2015
chibecanglobal:
But i think Amaechi/Omehia case is fundamentally different from this.
Buhari ran under APC but Omehia did not get the mandate of his party ab initio. Remember it was@the primary that Amaechi was chosen but was subsequently. wrongly disenfranchised and replaced with Omehia by powers at the helms of affairs@ that time.
its the almost the same situation. Omehia was disqualified by the courts and another party member Ameachi claimed the mandate. The presidential victory belongs to APC and candidates name was not on the ballot paper. If buhari is disqualified Osinbajo remains the vp just like Tele Ikuru remained ameachi Deputy when Omehia was disqualified. The Kano governor will be asked to replace buhari if he is disqualified. Elections are won by political parties not candidates in Nigeria.
