With all your gra gra and attacking, CIC can humble you like this. So with all your guru advice. No be by fight my dear. We are all hear to learn. Not to fight each other. Trust me, if u can keep your head calm, take advises from the gurus, repackage, u will land your visa on the second attempt without having to fight everyone. Best of luck.

I agree with you entirely. When such person is denied PGWP, he comes screaming that CIC are wicked, bla bla, not knowing that his/her past is hunting the person. Its not right, there is no short cut to it. Imagine someone staying one full year in Canada without working, and you are saying he got away with it, when its time for study permit extension and CIC issues a ban, they won't tell you oh. They will only tell you the one that was successful. An Indian student was deported for working more than 40hrs per week. That won't be loud. Several people have been victims of breaking the law in Canada but they won't come out and speak. I have a friend who is a lawyer in Saskatchewan who we discuss occasionally and he tells me cases Nigerians bring to him, they are alarming. A lot are on the run. We will never be told. As much as we are trying to beat the system, same way they are getting wise and more strict. Fake statements were getting people visa, now, how market. CIC will keep getting strict everyday. And very soon, getting visa will become almost impossible if we dont stop this our trickery in this country. Its high time we start doing the right thing and stop cutting corners. We are here today in this country because of this attitude. Developed countries are moving forward because they are doing the right thing. Canada isn't for everyone, we must not kill ourselves to get to Canada. They are better countries with a more robust economy.
Peace!!!

This is the question answered on CIC site. CIC says it's illegal to work before studies begin.
Now this is the main problem with many Nigerians, always looking for loopholes and how to beat the system.
It's not legal! and do you think they aren't aware that Nigerians are doing this?
We go through one of the longest and strictest checks before a visa is granted and yet people keep encouraging others to do illegal things.
'The country is tough, blah blah' That doesn't mean you should go and do something you aren't allowed to, because in turn, this is only making it more difficult for people that have not gotten their visa.

I've not seen a booking that combines Ethiopian airline and westjet from outside Canada. Its just within Canada that Ethiopian airline switch carrier to either westjet or aircanada.
I stand to be corrected.

Did you make any payment to the school that will warrant you to request for a refund? If no, then you owe the school nothing bro. Even after payment, you have the right to walk away and request for your refund. But ensure you enrol into another school and notify CIC so it doesn't affect you when you want to apply for your PGWP (post graduate work permit)
BHA1234:
Thank you boss.

That was my thought initially (and I think according to CIC portal), but two different guys I confided in said, I'd have to visit school A and request a termination or withdrawal of admission before proceeding to school B and most times the school will require me to spend a semester before transferring.

Please is this something you've done before, or do you know anyone who has done it ?

I just want to be 100% sure it's sane to ghost school A, change school through MyCIC portal and proceed to school B without repercussions (like when trying to get study Permit extension or trying to get PR).

Thank you.

Airline change or not, once your flight is touching down in USA, you must have q transit visa or else you won't be allowed to even board from Nigeria. Nobody wants to loose his/her job

I think it depends on if there would be an airline change or not

At times they add passengers too if the bookload isn't full from Addis Ababa.

You need a transit visa to transit through the USA, or if you have a valid visitors visa then you dont have an issue. There are dozens of flights that dont transit through USA. Check well

BHA1234:
Hello guys, can we please consider this hypothetical situation;

Mr A applies into SCHOOL A and SCHOOL B for Master's program, Fall term.

School A offers Mr A an admission February.

Mr A prefers SCHOOL B to SCHOOL A, but SCHOOL B was taking too long, and as a result, MR A applied for student permit using SCHOOL A's admission letter, to meet up with September.

SCHOOL B's admission, came out 2 months after he had applied for student permit.

So my questions are;

Is it possible for MR A to change from SCHOOL A to SCHOOL B on his CIC portal immediately after receiving his student permit, without having to go to SCHOOL A for explanation or whatsoever ?

Or will MR A have to attend a semester at SCHOOL A and then transfer to SCHOOL B ?

Thank you.
This isn't a problem. Obtain your study permit, fly to Canada, use school A admission letter to clear at point of entry. When you are inside Canada you can now update CIC via your MyCIC account of DLI change. This will save you a lot of stress and questions at the POE.

grin grin grin grin I want to laugh before posting. All June applicants should pray oh. Hope we all remembered what happened to May/June/July 2018 applicants. Sleekysoft, Hunkerbert, litterbug, Austacus e.t.c. should I tell you guys? Pray. I repeat pray to whomever u worship. Because most of the apps lasted 8months+. Some 10, some 12months. Just a month and you all are ranting. Pray oh.or else, you guys are in for a long thing grin. Make una no vex. Na joke I the joke oh. My point is, you all should be patient. CIC? If you dont have a patient attitude, you can't deal with then. My app lasted 12months. I got my passport back after 13th months. So relax all June applicants. Your applications would be handled soon. Cheers!!! Peace

The process of converting a visitors visa to a study permit is very easy, return to your home country and apply. Very simple because you can't convert a visit visa to study. If it was that possible, nobody would waste time applying for study permit in Nigeria, we would all apply for visit and convert.

He doesn't need to go to the embassy, as a simple mail would be okay for him to get a response form them. Going there is a lot more stressful than sending a mail with the necessary information like passport number, date of birth, application number, e.t.c, just something that can help them identify his application. A mail to Lagos office is fine. They would respond. Bear in mind, when sending the mail, I will advice he sends it enquiring for the status of the app. He/she doesn't know if the agent used a Use of Representative form. So you dont draw attention to CIC that an agent submitted for him/her and yet its not stated in the app, thats enough for a 5yrs ban. Trust me, CIC aren't smiling. Be careful on how you thread. Don't end up shooting yourself in the foot. Thats what my friend said I should tell you for your friend grin
ifeyemi200:
Abeg, no vex, as I said earlier, I screenshot your response to him. What he has right now is evidence that his application was received by CIC. He is thinking of going to the embassy to confirm the application. He is seeking your advice.

However, I have my own question, I saw something on the pictures he sent to me, I wanted to ask if Visitor visa is same as study permit. For me, na visitor visa I see say the agent filled in the form.

You seem to know so much about your friend and how worried he is. My friend also suggests that you should tell your to request for proof that his application was submitted (a confirmation mail from CIC, tracking number, application number, e.t.c). My friend further said that he will proceed to contact CIC and ask about it. My friend also said that you should ask your friend if he has applied to Canada in that past 12-15months and submitted his biometrics? If yes, then no need for biometrics to be submitted. My friend also said he should ask if the application was submitted online or via paper. That is what my friend said I should tell you to tell your friend.
ifeyemi200:
Hello all,

I must commend you all for all the info on this thread. Thank you for helping one another. Please, I am new on this thread, and I want to ask a question on behalf of a friend. The person had applied about two weeks ago via an agent for study visa, he is so worried that he hasn't been called for biometrics. Abeg, what is the timeline for biometrics after submitting a complete application? His school resumes in September.

That agent is mad. Dont follow him. Hustle PhD admission and you might end up getting full funding. Or alternatively, save your self the stress, write IELTS, do WES conversion and apply for Express entry. You will have high points considering you are very young, have a masters and if u can score high in your IELTS (7.5 overall), you are good to go. Agents are scammers. Beware.

Hello my people, please I need an advice on immigration to Canada, I have a masters degree here in Nigeria, after due conversation with my agent, I was advised to go for a BSc program because am still 26 years old, am confused here that if I get to Canada will I be able to secure a good job after my degree and still study further, because I have a state government job here and I don't want to lose and roaming about in Canada.
Please your advice will go a long way.

Please get your passport before you leave Nigeria as it is stipulated that you can only renew 6months to export of your passport. Get a new passport, and travel with it, Infact from Nigeria, start tendering the new passport and make sure all stamps are stamped in the new passport. Or else, your study permit won't be beyond your passport expiry. My candid advice, apply for the new 10years passport so that before it expires, you should have a Canadian passport. Peace (in Makano voice)

Also do the webform thing, choose Lagos as application office.

Most of all, remember to add !URGENT! in your subject. Also add your CIC specific infos (UCI, Application number, date of birth and passport number) for easy tracing of your application. The sweet thing is that the concerned office will treat your request. The others will reply telling you the specific office handling you application and advice u channel your request to them. I hope this helps. It worked for me.

After your medicals, did the hospital give you a slip? If yes, mail it to the office processing your application and copy Lagos office. If you were not given, call the hospital, and confirm if it was sent. Then send a mail to the office processing your application telling them the date your medical was completed and the hospital has sent it, but it hasn't been updated on your profile. Dont forget to quote your application number, UCI, date of birth and passport number, in any correspondence you are spending. I hope this helps.

I have seen someone got approval with three sponsors. So if you dont have enough info, keep quiet and stop giving advice based on the limited information that you have, or you could as well say based on what you know, and not authoritatively ruling out a fact. Yes there is room for co-sponsors not co-sponsor. Get your facts right.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by ralfudoh(m): 8:46pm On Jul 11, 2019
My brother, it baffles me since this monicker popped up. We have seen several of this type on the forum. Their aim is to cause disunity, arguments and confusion on the group so people will walk away and stop dropping meaningful information. When this is achieved, they will now be able to rip people apart as agents, and give them bans. I don't even blame the so called monicker. I guess he should focus on his/her own application and stop pock nosing in other affairs, dishing out wrong advises.
Just some few hours ago, we haven't finished addressing the issue of Leave777 where he is a victim of fraudulent activities from an agent, and a so called learned fellow is advising another to use an agent. I shake my head is disparity. Its quite unfortunate we have to deal with this kind of miscreants. Continue advertising and advising about agents, @Justwise will deal with you appropriately.
