How did she achieve the bolded
The bolded was 'easily' achievable in those days. Those days. those days. if you want to know how long ago those days are, read @Lexusgs430's post again, he referred to UKVI as UKBA - Gives you an idea, a rough idea how long ago that was.

Yes ...... Once someone is independent, they need to show ties to Nigeria.......

Those ties must be tidy enough, to resist temptation...... May we all have the ability to resist temptation........ grin

Even if she provided that bank statement, they would find another reason to refuse her ........

A couple of years ago, when my younger sister applied. She was refused, according to the jobsworth that dealt with her file, my mum's bank statement was FAKE ..........

My younger sister was working and earning well..........

My elder sister and I put our legal wigs on, appealed the decision (had loads of evidence on tow ).......

We headed down to Feltham on the hearing day, within one hour, case was over ........ Immigration judge ruled in our favour ........ Sent a letter to UKBA to issue visa ........... tongue

My younger sister is now fully resident and legal in the UK ..... grin
By their posts, we can estimate their age. Ancient of days... its no longer called UKBA. Its UKVI now.

Hello,

I have a question, please can someone who is on a visitors's visa apply for jobs and attend interviews? He is a healthcare professional who has license to practice in the UK but finding it difficult to get interviews in Nigeria. He thinks having a UK phone no and address will help boost his chances of getting a job that can issue him CoS.

Will this work? Can he attend interviews with a visitor's visa?
I hope the screenshot is clear enough.
Before commencing application, the very SECOND question on the form is: *Choose your immigration status *

As soon as your person clicks on 'Visitor', its the end.

Travelling from Nigeria to London Heathrow, please what is the cheapest and easiest route with stop over ? I am tired of reading all these quarantine rules for red and Amber countries
Did you mean with NO stop over?

ABV-LHR
or
LOS - LHR

Via British Airways is your best bet.

This is phenomenal. What would you advise someone who's already in the UK for masters with the prospect of going for PhD after?
I would advise the person to go to www.findaphd.com

I ask the person what their interests are, and what research questions they would like to get answers to.

I would advise the person to decide exactly what they wish to research about.

Nope, I’m where there is money (for now). Don’t get yourself limited with these silos – humanities, sciences etc. The world is multidisciplinary in nature. I did my PhD in CS and it involved Artificial Intelligence (CS), Electric Power Systems (Electrical Engineering) and Energy Justice (Humanities). I published on all these in an integrated manner and that’s the beauty. Today I work on policy, decarbonisation, and conduct field work in the arctic region on justice issues. Bring some innovation on board.

You have to visit the websites of universities you are interested in (University of Cape Town, University of Pretoria, University of KwaZulu-Natal, University of Johannesburg, University of Stellenbosch, etc.) and any lab (or research group) of interest, these things are there online. Also, if you are conversant with your field, you must have stumbled on a couple of authors you would want to investigate further. This is serious work and I’d recommend ResearchGate as a starting place to see what people are doing and informally network.
Chukwuka16,
I think you did t get that bolded part.
It’s a truism that a candidate is more likely to get a fully-funded PhD in the Sciences tha. I’m the humanities.
If O.P were to propose to do a PhD in Molecular virology, or Artificial Intelligence or Electric vehicles or COVID-19 and Alzheimer’s research, surely they would be more likely to secure full funding.
Contrast that with O.P proposing a PhD in humanities….

What led to this is that he's a narcissist, disturbing the whole house with his shenanigans just because the mother of his girlfriend refused to come settle him and his girlfriend. BTW his girlfriend's mother lives in the same house.

He comes and puts on loud music, leaves the kitchen door open both doors whenever he's doing his washing. All these, I couldn't take it anymore. I'm not against him getting at his girlfriend's mother, but he shouldn't do it at the detriment of others. We are 7 seven in the whole house, if we all starts being annoying like him, would he be able to take it? I closed the kitchen he left it open and he called his brother on the phone and his brother asked him what he was doing with a black guy.

Basically, he punched me for calling him out as a racist.
1. His brother (ON THE PHONE) asked the question. Could you kindly let us know what HIS RESPONSE was, to the question?
What is my deduction from this whole story?
a. You and him have been pals (although you are miffed by his brawls with his girlfriend and others).
b. He did not racially abuse you. You overhead SOMEONE asking him a question.
c. You were the first person to call someone a racist, even though he has never acted as one, nor made any racist remarks at/or to you.

Brother Regex, as I mentioned earlier, it will do you a lot of good to stop seeing people based on the presence (or absence thereof) of melanin.

And to others on this thread, Before you begin to tell someone that a brawl is racially motivated, ask questions first. Unfortunately, we only get to hear an incomplete one side of the story, then we 'jump to conclusion'. Unfortunately, if the police are called on this case, and they conclude that indeed there was an assault but not racially motivated, we will start banging on about the police being "institutionally Racist"

What would you advise someone who was assaulted aggravated by a white kid do?

I was assaulted in my house today, punched on my jaw.

Ilekokonit, justwise, Lexusgs430 and any other person with experience
I would be careful about the bolded.
assault is assault. whether by a 'fellow' black kid, a yellow kid, a green kid or a purple kid.

If I were you, I would be more concerned about the crime, rather than the absence (or presence) of melanin in the skin of the 'assaulter'

I'm a student. I feel very awful about the whole thing.
@Regex:
Before I allow others on Nairaland to 'jump into conclusion' that this was a racially motivated assault, I would introspect and convince myself fully that it was actually so.

NOT EVERY BRAWL BETWEEN FLATMATES IN A FLATSHARE IS RACIALLY MOTIVATED.

There is a difference between a white kid shouting racial obscenities to/at you (during or after a 'fight') and a racially-motivated assault. You must be able to delineate the two clearly. If you fail to delineate the two, you would be left to feel as though the police are 'supporting their own' when infact, they are doing the right thing.

I would think very, very carefully.

Please I want to make enquiries regarding application for masters in UK. I recently graduated from Ukraine CONGRATULATIONS and I have begun application for masters. After I have gained admission from a university in UK;
-what type of visa do I apply for? STUDENT TIER- 4 VISA
-how long would it take the embassy to provide the visa, YOU NEED TO MEET THE 28-DAY RULE FIRST as my stay in Ukraine will expire soon
-would it be possible to get invited to UK by a resident/citizen of UK, then upgrade my visiting visa to a study visa (based on the admission granted by the university) from within the UK? NO
-what would be the process of upgrading a visiting visa to a study visa while in the UK? YOU CANNOT ‘UPGRADE’ SORRY
I really appreciate any help you can provide.

My sister na so we see am o. It happened or happening to my brother.

He moved here with his family late 2019 and as a family of 5 up north, we thought having a car was necessary now (probably wished we waited now grin).

He got his car shortly before the pandemic and got his insurance with go girl with his naija licence. As expected he couldn't renew or attend any exam for his practical exam due to cancellation and no date available and DVLA granted10months extension till October 2021 which he thought it will be sufficient to pass.

During this time, go girl renewed his insurance automatically but unknowingly to us a Provisional Licence supersedes your international licence. Na so he lost control during that yeye february snow to go hit his neighbours car and then insurance got involved and its been one mayhem to another. They cancelled his premium and then after a while demanded the balance of his insurance and now we got bills totalling £9800 that they incurred on fixing the other car.

The annoying thing it was just a minor dent to the fender and the car is a 2011 ford worth £2,900 (according to the insurance coy). So how they spent almost £10k fixing it is beyond me.
So so sorry to hear that, @ Fatima04.

Looks like bandits invaded this page last night. Thankgod for just wise…
Una good morning oh.
Nahhh... it wasn't bandits. If it were, Sheikh Ahmed Gumi would have intervened.

Those were My deleted posts. I guess someone was not comfortable with my rebuttals of the tissue of lies perpetrated on my person during the period of my ban.
when my ban was lifted, and I saw that untruths were dished out to the effect that I Insulted someone, I was merely protesting my innocence.

No Bandits...at all.

Wait o he is still banned?? Haba Justwise, This is unfair now. You banned him just because he had a different opinion to yours, how is that right?

He was just pointing out that because you’re a stickler for the rules and you shouldn’t encourage mago mago. Please chill and unblock him abeg.
Thank you @aphrodite.
I have been unbanned now. Thanks for speaking on my behalf when I was gagged and banned - with no right-of-reply.
I am back now. How long that will last still remains to be seen.

One thing I am 100% sure of, is that I will never get weary of saying/posting lawful and legal stuff. And, the fear of a ban will never, ever prevent me from making rebuttals when mago-mago is subtley suggested by any, I mean ANY person.
My mama trained me to be honest, just, and unfearful.

Those were posts where I was providing rebuttals to the misleading information that I Insulted a moderator of this thread.
I was merely stating my innocence - but the posts were deleted/or hidden.

You are classless if you believed that paying for what you don't use put you in any class.

Stop using the word criminality because you don't know what that means

Class my backside!! grin grin grin
Dodging TV licence & slamming the door on enforcement officers is a CRIMINAL offence in the UK.
A person who commits a CRIMINAL offence is a criminal.
The act of dodging payments is CRIMINALITY.
No be me write the law.
