RalphJean? Just in case you have suddenly lost your ability to read and understand..can i just repeat this again that i do not pay for what i don't use. I do at least two charity contributions monthly willing and that is my choice

Now, if you want to allow anybody into your house just because you are not criminal minded then God bless you, go ahead but don't subscribe that to me.

By the way who allows strangers into their houses even with an ID? Is that not instruction 101 we all grew up with? Give me a break!
Charity contributions is NoT a substitute for criminality.
Refusing to pay TV licence is criminal.
If you do not wish to pay for what you don’t use, you do it by the book. You notify the agencies. They will not force you. They will issue you an exemption. If you wish, laminate the exemption and paste on your door. Whenever they knock, point it to them, then slam the door. That is what persons with class do.
But slamming the door on their faces when one doesn’t have a valid exemption is not the solution, it is criminal.

Why am I labouring on this? Because you Justwise can not be insisting on following the letter of the law (on the student thread) while suggesting the opposite on this thread. That has a name:

I have this Opinion, to, why should we pay TV licence when they are craaaap. They should competit like every other Tv stations out there.
I too have the exact same opinion.
And that is the reason why ( as a law abiding citizen), i formally notified the authorities that I will not pay. And the authorities issued me an exempt.

Bottom line:
If you are watching, but not paying. And your ‘solution’ is to slam the door on the faces of the enforcement agents, you are a criminal.

No be me talk am. That is the law. It is a criminal offence to be watching and not paying.

Dear friends on this thread,

Re: TV Licence Fees

I am writing this to you because of my firm believe that this thread is meant to promote the right thing. I am writing this because I believe that dodging TV Licence fees is illegal (at least within the ambit of the law as IG currently is).

My advice:
If you do not require the TV licence, it’s fine. All you need to do is:
Visit the licensing website:
https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/check-if-you-need-one/topics/cancellations-and-refunds-top7

In less than 2 minutes, fill the form.
They will send you an exemption.

Afterwards, you don’t have to be glancing over your shoulders and frigging, cowering in fear anytime there is a knock on the door.

Yours sincerely,
RalphJean
(who applied for, and got an exemption hence I do not watch, I do not pay and do not need to sound reminders to my children to shut the door to Law Enforcement Officers).

No, only an ignorant fool allows strangers into their house, someone knocked at your door and shows an ID card and you allowed them in?

Nobody with a single brain cell allows strangers into their house, Talk to them at the door step and if they turns out to be tv licence officers close your door.
If they turn out to be licensing officers, I will let them in and offer them a cuppa.
It’s one of three things:

1. I have up to date TV licence payment
Or
2. I have a valid, and legal TV licence exemption
Or
3. I am watching live TV without paying. Which is illegal.

Those are the only 3 ‘valid’ options.

Justwise: I will advice that you be consistent. Anytime someone on the student thread asks question, or suggests to want to cheat the system (albeit stylishly), you stick to the rules, and sometimes even clamp down on them. Which I think is the right thing to do.

But here you are, preaching door closing and refusing entry when you could use that energy to encourage members here to either pay the licence fee, or apply for an exemption.

#Consistency

Yes your analogy is a real possibility, again do not allow them in and that message should be passed down to any family member living with you.
Only a criminally minded person will refuse to allow them. Why go through the trouble of troubling every house member, (including the kids, and grandma who only just came to the UK to holiday) with those kinds of instructions when you could simply pay £13 prr month, or LEGALLY apply for, and get an exemption?

They will be forced to go commercial because last year a lone 250K stopped paying tv licence.
You do not force them to go commercial by illegality, and breaking the rules.

Justwise, when I used to be on the student thread, you appeared to be a stickler for the rules. On this thread, you are stylishly promoting illegality.

If you do not watch any live TV, that's ok. you click a few buttons on the website and TVLicensing will put it on record. They will leave you alone.
But this your pursuance of "do not open the door to let them in' smacks of outright illegality.

I have problem with tv license and I don’t think one should pay it if you don’t watch BBC programs.

BBC should go commercial to generate revenue just as other channels.

I will not pay for something I don’t use, if I have a skybox and I pay my monthly subscription why should I also pay BBC because I watch sky programs?

Do not allow them into your house simple !

Their warning letters means nothing, they end up in bin.
And I used to think Justwise was a stickler fir the rules (and laws) ohhh

Good evening House, Please I need help with the process in getting a job in the UK with specialty in Public Health or safety. I have a master's in public and a NEBOSH IGC certificate. I'm looking forward to tier 2 visa. I have tried applying for jobs on the NHS website and no reply.
Thanks.
A masters in public health is important.

Cognate experience in public health is Importanter.

An MPH paper certificate (on its own) is as useful as the P in Psychology.

Good day everyone, Please in other to show proof of funds for CAS request. Is it okay to send my husband bank statement and marriage certificate? Or is it better if it’s a joint account?
I have some funds but he has majority of it. I just want to know if adding his own account statement for CAS request helps me.
Thank you.
Have you heard of ‘computer says no’ syndrome?
If you don’t want to be a victim, I would suggest you tell your husband to transfer the funds to your own personal account.
Or
To transfer it (now this may sound bizarre) to your biological parents’ account.
Then you use the account statement.

PS: The student thread is the best place for you to ask this question.

Dear All, Trust you are doing well. Please can someone who have been denied UK Visiting twice in December 2019 and March 2020, though the first was as a result of huge some they saw in the person's account some days before applying for Visiting visa and the person's applied again to clear to the source of the money but they said the first reasons have been cleared in the first refusal but was refused the second time because they said they are not sure that he or she has the money declared under their control the second. Pls the same person have gotten offers from some schools for Masters program. Dear Gurus in the house is it advisable for the person to push through? Will the person be given Visa? Your quick response will be highly appreciated. Note: the person wants to apply with dependants. @justwise
Yes.
The person will need to make sure that the person meets all tier-4 visa requirements then the person will be issued the visa.
Another thing, while filling the form, the person must make sure the person declares the two previous refusals the person received previously.

Please house, can you assist with answers to the following question from a Nairalander who intends to take a decision on UK travel.

If by chance, a Nigerian male between the ages 35 to 45 years and having met all requirements for a UK visa for an initial 6 months arrives the UK.

The mission is to earn a steady forex income for the period that the visa lasts and probably start something tangible for the folks back home.
Hustle in obodo oyinbo is better than the rat race in Naija.

What type of opportunities are open to him since trying for a degree is out of it with the cost involved?
No work permit for 6 months visa and it will be odd to just sit in doors and not earn a living for an entire 180 day.
Work experience is regular hustle, office/admin work and every other legit thing that brings money to the table.

Please assist with information on other likely issues to be encountered

The list is long and includes plans to leave the UK for greener pastures in less than 5 years.

With all that I have stated.
How to get the visa.
I was denied the last time I applied in 2019.
We’re you denied because you applied for a 6-month visitor visa, and stated that the plan was for you to work?
Eyaàhh sorry.

There are different kinds of visa for the UK. Some examples are:
1. Visitor visa (you can visit, spend money, spend all your life’s savings. Visit Queen’s palace. BUT you can’t work).

2. Work visa (you get a suitable job. The employer sponsors your visa. You work).

3. Student visa ( you pay school fees and learn).

4. Etc

Which category do you want to apply for?

Hahaha, I got home from the emergency center yesterday .
The Hilton London canary wharf was so unapologetic. They said I can’t proof that I caught the allergy from the hotel. And also asked that I pay 60 pounds extra for the three hours we spent arguing before checkout.
They manager was so rude, so I just didn’t want to argue as I didn’t have the energy and left with my family. I was sure it happened the first night I woke up in the hotel. It’s dust from the air condition and rug. All my kids got sick. So we checked out. I am planning on writing a review on everything that happened with them.
I have been a beneficiary of compensations in the past. It's a sweet experience.
However, you must be 101% sure that you can prove that the allergic reaction was the hotel's 'fault'.
Unless you can prove it beyond reasonable doubts, I would suggest you let it slide.

20,000,000:00 Euros!!!!!
€20,000,000 to fund a 4 year PhD?

The writers of this story are an absolute ignorant pile of bullsh*t

“He will be getting a yearly allowance of €18,500 (N8,515,927.22)”

€18,500 x 4 years = €74,000

Assuming tuition & research costs is €50,000 per year ( this is a very generous assumption because we all know tuition isn’t that expensive for that course in Ireland).

€50,000 x4 = €200,000

Now
€74,000 + €200,000 = €274,000

Let’s even throw in as additional €26,000 for lounging and catching cruise.

Overall total €300,000

How on earth did the writers of this article arrive at €20,000,000huh?? huhhuh?
Maniru Ibrahim was selected by the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Centre for Research Training in Foundations of Data Science for a fully funded PhD studentship at the University of Limerick, Ireland. This is a €20 million centre funded by SFI, Skillnet Ireland, Industry and Enterprise partners, as well as the three co-hosting universities: University of Limerick, University College Dublin, and Maynooth University. He will be attending the Ph.D. at CRT from September, 2021.

https://www.internationalmathematicsmaster.org/news/2021-maniru-phd

IT IS THE ENTIRE CENTRE THAT IS A 20,000,000 EURO INVESTMENT.

20,000,000 IS NOT THE VALUE OF THE SCHOLARSHIP FOR 1 STUDENT.
