justwise:Charity contributions is NoT a substitute for criminality. Refusing to pay TV licence is criminal. If you do not wish to pay for what you don’t use, you do it by the book. You notify the agencies. They will not force you. They will issue you an exemption. If you wish, laminate the exemption and paste on your door. Whenever they knock, point it to them, then slam the door. That is what persons with class do. But slamming the door on their faces when one doesn’t have a valid exemption is not the solution, it is criminal. Why am I labouring on this? Because you Justwise can not be insisting on following the letter of the law (on the student thread) while suggesting the opposite on this thread. That has a name: #DoubleStandards |
erico2k2:I too have the exact same opinion. And that is the reason why ( as a law abiding citizen), i formally notified the authorities that I will not pay. And the authorities issued me an exempt. Bottom line: If you are watching, but not paying. And your ‘solution’ is to slam the door on the faces of the enforcement agents, you are a criminal. No be me talk am. That is the law. It is a criminal offence to be watching and not paying. |
Dear friends on this thread, Re: TV Licence Fees I am writing this to you because of my firm believe that this thread is meant to promote the right thing. I am writing this because I believe that dodging TV Licence fees is illegal (at least within the ambit of the law as IG currently is). My advice: If you do not require the TV licence, it’s fine. All you need to do is: Visit the licensing website: https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/check-if-you-need-one/topics/cancellations-and-refunds-top7 In less than 2 minutes, fill the form. They will send you an exemption. Afterwards, you don’t have to be glancing over your shoulders and frigging, cowering in fear anytime there is a knock on the door. Yours sincerely, RalphJean (who applied for, and got an exemption hence I do not watch, I do not pay and do not need to sound reminders to my children to shut the door to Law Enforcement Officers). |
justwise:If they turn out to be licensing officers, I will let them in and offer them a cuppa. It’s one of three things: 1. I have up to date TV licence payment Or 2. I have a valid, and legal TV licence exemption Or 3. I am watching live TV without paying. Which is illegal. Those are the only 3 ‘valid’ options. Justwise: I will advice that you be consistent. Anytime someone on the student thread asks question, or suggests to want to cheat the system (albeit stylishly), you stick to the rules, and sometimes even clamp down on them. Which I think is the right thing to do. But here you are, preaching door closing and refusing entry when you could use that energy to encourage members here to either pay the licence fee, or apply for an exemption. #Consistency |
justwise:Only a criminally minded person will refuse to allow them. Why go through the trouble of troubling every house member, (including the kids, and grandma who only just came to the UK to holiday) with those kinds of instructions when you could simply pay £13 prr month, or LEGALLY apply for, and get an exemption? |
justwise:You do not force them to go commercial by illegality, and breaking the rules. Justwise, when I used to be on the student thread, you appeared to be a stickler for the rules. On this thread, you are stylishly promoting illegality. If you do not watch any live TV, that's ok. you click a few buttons on the website and TVLicensing will put it on record. They will leave you alone. But this your pursuance of "do not open the door to let them in' smacks of outright illegality. |
justwise:And I used to think Justwise was a stickler fir the rules (and laws) ohhh |

Marvel4u:A masters in public health is important. Cognate experience in public health is Importanter. An MPH paper certificate (on its own) is as useful as the P in Psychology. |
MissOwaa:Have you heard of ‘computer says no’ syndrome? If you don’t want to be a victim, I would suggest you tell your husband to transfer the funds to your own personal account. Or To transfer it (now this may sound bizarre) to your biological parents’ account. Then you use the account statement. PS: The student thread is the best place for you to ask this question. https://www.nairaland.com/6331164/uk-student-visa-tier-4/373 |
lynniebabes:It will be near-impossible for you to prove that you actually got it from the hotel. Unless you are willing to spend £££ and do a ‘forensic’ sweep/ tests . |
saidato:Yes. The person will need to make sure that the person meets all tier-4 visa requirements then the person will be issued the visa. Another thing, while filling the form, the person must make sure the person declares the two previous refusals the person received previously. |
April 2019: barakah:May, 2021 barakah:Egbon, the same you ohh ... you don ask this question before. We answer you. You thought we have forgotten, you now asked again. Well, the answer is still the same. |
barakah:We’re you denied because you applied for a 6-month visitor visa, and stated that the plan was for you to work? Eyaàhh sorry. There are different kinds of visa for the UK. Some examples are: 1. Visitor visa (you can visit, spend money, spend all your life’s savings. Visit Queen’s palace. BUT you can’t work). 2. Work visa (you get a suitable job. The employer sponsors your visa. You work). 3. Student visa ( you pay school fees and learn). 4. Etc Which category do you want to apply for? |
elisinho:Dear Newbie, Details.... details. The more detailed & specific your question, the more bespoke help you will get. |
Mamatukwas:Has Madam Nic Sturgeon blamed the UK government yet? This is probably one of the reasons for ‘we want independence’ |
lynniebabes:I have been a beneficiary of compensations in the past. It's a sweet experience. However, you must be 101% sure that you can prove that the allergic reaction was the hotel's 'fault'. Unless you can prove it beyond reasonable doubts, I would suggest you let it slide. |
STENON:I share EXACTLY the same sentinel. And I’m not being sexist . The man is a Mààlu. A big one. I blame the man. 100%. For him to not have picked that out, he is daft. Again, I say it with my chest; the man is dumb, and outrightly stupid. |
jesudaughter:I would take my time, carefully digest the entire contents of this link: https://www.gov.uk/health-care-worker-visa/your-job

I received several of those HMRC calls. Guy asked me to press 1. I pressed. Girl (Indian or Pakistani or Bangladeshi) asks for my name. Me: Dickson Her: Surname please Me: Head Her: NI Number please? Me: Did you get my name correctly? Her: YOu said uouir name was: Me: Mr Dick Head Her: (drops the call) |
justwise:This is the ‘best use’ of my 26 minutes this year. I laughed so hard at this scammer’s stupidity |
RalphJean:Maniru Ibrahim was selected by the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Centre for Research Training in Foundations of Data Science for a fully funded PhD studentship at the University of Limerick, Ireland. This is a €20 million centre funded by SFI, Skillnet Ireland, Industry and Enterprise partners, as well as the three co-hosting universities: University of Limerick, University College Dublin, and Maynooth University. He will be attending the Ph.D. at CRT from September, 2021. https://www.internationalmathematicsmaster.org/news/2021-maniru-phd IT IS THE ENTIRE CENTRE THAT IS A 20,000,000 EURO INVESTMENT. 20,000,000 IS NOT THE VALUE OF THE SCHOLARSHIP FOR 1 STUDENT. PEOPLE, GET A GRIP. WISE UP. STOP WALLOWING IN IGNORANCE. Some idiot who doesn't know the cost of a PhD will be here talking nonsense because I pointed out the stupidity of thinking that 1 PhD in Ireland = 9,000,000,000 naira. |
Brightale:Ignorance and stupidity combined with daftness is bliss. Nowhere in this world, NOWHERE is a 4 year PhD for 1 individual funded with 20,000,000 euros. If only you could use your akamu brain for better things, you will not be here insulting me. |
ahiboilandgas:Will be a waste of time engaging nincompoops like you. Do you even know the difference between £, € and $ ![]() Shift joor |
Let me write this in plain language: 20,000,000:00 Euros!!!!! €20,000,000 to fund a 4 year PhD? The writers of this story are an absolute ignorant pile of bullsh*t “He will be getting a yearly allowance of €18,500 (N8,515,927.22)” €18,500 x 4 years = €74,000 Assuming tuition & research costs is €50,000 per year ( this is a very generous assumption because we all know tuition isn’t that expensive for that course in Ireland). €50,000 x4 = €200,000 Now €74,000 + €200,000 = €274,000 Let’s even throw in as additional €26,000 for lounging and catching cruise. Overall total €300,000 How on earth did the writers of this article arrive at €20,000,000 ?? ![]() ? |
famzynet:Your epistle come long pass the original post. You open your eye and brain, read a woman who says she gave man money to ‘marry her’ him chop the money. She come hustle ANODA money carry use do ‘emergency’ sharp-sharp ‘marriage’ You read that they have been doing Wa-Jo-Ko (co-habiting) and the ‘marriage’ was merely to fulfill dependant visa requirements- ONLY. Abi those parts were missing in the post you read? You come dey tell OP say make she no mind UK-based pipu? Well done, you hear? |
Justagirl01:ALL the signs were as clear as day. Although you clearly could see and feel there was no love, you still ‘forced him’ to marry you even after him chop the money wey u give am. In my hearts of hearts, I’m pondering: NA JAZZ? If all the ‘signs and SYNDROMES’ you saw since 2015 didn’t convince you that it ain’t working, I really doubt anyone in here can make you see the light. PS: you wanted to bring a man who clearly doesn’t love you to the UK so that he will work, earn and balance your school fees? |
bimbod:You are registered with MLSCN? Have a current valid practicing licence? Have 1 year experience of internship? Have BMLS? If yes to all, you are good to go. Shoot your shot. If English is not your first language, you will be required to write IELTS. |
bimbod:What is your first degree in, please |
kaylov12:Learnt to drive. Buy a car. ..... In that order. |
Na wa for this OP ohhhh Students of Forestry school in kaduna not returned yet. Students of Greenfield University in kaduna kidnapped, 3 have been killed. Bandits running riot in Zamfara.
