Apart From what i've read About Yaweh, I've also witnessed contemporary situations that has served as proof of his Power. meanwhile. I Have never seen the sick being healed in the name of zeus. Neither have i seen the blind receive sight in his name. nor the cripple recieving ability To walk by his ministration.
What i know of yahweh is. more than a mythology, but i cant say same for zeus, however, this does not mean other gods dont exist, but it does not necessarily have to include zeus. people of the past saw zeus's purported power www.cityfullofgods.weebly.com/the-healing-cult-of-asklepios.htmlhttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollonius_of_Tyana |

Makaveli08: Nope I'm telling the truth :
"Plantinga's free will defense has been generally accepted as a successful response to the claim that God's existence and the existence of evil are logically inconsistent." (What Philosophers Know: Case Studies in Recent Analytic Philosophy by Gary Gutting, pg 110)
"Although Plantinga’s defence failed to persuade critics like Mackie and Flew,it is now widely considered to be a strong and effective response to the logical problem of evil." (The God Beyond Belief: In Defence of William Rowe's Evidential Argument from Evil by Nick Trakakis, pg 34)
"Most philosophers have agreed that the free will defense has defeated the logical problem of evil. [...] Because of [Plantinga's argument], it is now widely accepted that the logical problem of evil has been sufficiently rebutted." (Introducing Philosophy of Religion by Chad Meister, pg 131)
"Though there never has been and likely never will be a resolution of the so-called "problem of evil" to which all parties agree, there has been a kind of meeting of the minds in the last half century or so that has served to refocus the debate. This meeting of the minds was facilitated in 1974 by Alvin Plantinga's publication of a refutation of the so-called "logical argument from evil" (LAE) (Plantinga 1974a, 164-196; 1974b, 29-59; see Sennett 1998, 22-49). Plantinga's argument-a version of the venerable free will defense-was impressive enough that many prominent philosophers declared LAE dead once and for all. Even William Rowe, considered the dean of advocates of the problem of evil, called Plantinga's offering "a fairly compelling argument for the view that the existence of evil is logically consistent with the existence of the theistic God" (1979, 335)." ( Philosophical Approaches to the Devil By Benjamin W. McCraw)
"It used to be widely held by philosophers that God and evil are incompatible. Not any longer. Alvin Plantinga's Free Will Defense is largely responsible for this shift."Howard-Snyder, Daniel; John O’Leary-Hawthorne (1999). "Transworld Sanctity and Plantinga's Free Will Defense"
“Although the logical problem of evil marks an important phase in the literature on evil, discussion of it markedly diminished during the 1980s. It is fairly widely agreed by theists and nontheists alike that Alvin Plantinga, Keith Yandell, and other theistic philosophers have cast serious doubt on the viability of all formulations of the logical problem. Critics who still think that evil presents a problem for theistic belief have shifted focus away from the logical version of the problem and have sought to construct a viable evidential version.” (Reason & Religious Belief: An Introduction to Philosophy of Religion, p. 121) so some christian apologetic books are the bases of your fabled general acceptance? For real?
and the defense is bullshvt..if what i read on wiki is it..its pure bullshvt.. I found many problems wrong with it Well unless on the concept of a deistic God...but for a theistic God...the problem of evil still stands..
An excerpt from the page... Plantinga's argument is that even though God is omnipotent, it is possible that it was not in his power to create a world containing moral good but no moral evil; therefore, there is no logical inconsistency involved when God, although wholly good, creates a world of free creatures who chose to do evil.[25] i think in the christian version..jesus's second coming and heaven....refutes plantinga's claim... Many others... Epicurus's argument..still stands |

AnonyNymous: Why do things have to get messy I only see the rationale behind a separate Islamic section because Muslims are violent and the only religion known to behead people and bomb places if they don't agree with you. I also don't understand the need to investigate HardMirror's story so much, if its his story its his story na. There's a specific thread in which all 'non believers' on Nairaland recounted their journeys to unbelief, and I dont see anyone picking them apart, so why does Hardmirror's story have to be treated differently? It was only moved to the front page because it generated traffic, shikena. Also, a lot of Christians post 'life experiences' of how their god supposedly did this or that and nobody is fighting over why its real or not so can somebody explain why HardMirorr's story is so important to everyone because I'm kind of confused christians...please answer this... Your answers will be highly appreciated... |

RoadsAndGreen: and the bolded is also a belief. as long as you cant tell us how time started or who started time or what was before time. anything presented is a belief backed by faith. so basically, religious or non religious. two sides of a coin a disbelief is not a belief... Nothing is not a thing...okay? And atheism is just a disbelief...not evolution time origin bla bla bla...okay? |

Anyone who says anything that stands in the way of their goal will be accused of being all sorts of things. So where do we go from here? christians drop your answers please.. |

LiberaDeus: Christians I hope you understand what credibility means
Just a slight detail in Hardmirrors story and we all have to ask ourselves whether the whole story was fabricated. If he could fabricate or be dishonest about one slight detail then we can't know the extent of the fabrication or were the lies end. In this case it is best to dismiss his testimony.
Lets apply this same logic to your bible. The difference between hardmirror testimony and your bible is that your bible claims to be the inerrant, inspired word of god. Now if we can find one dubious claim in your bible, applying the same logic, how can we not discard it as a whole. There abounds dozens of inaccurate claims in your bible. Just to name a few 1. Conflicting geneologies of Jesus in Matthew and Luke 2. Conflicting Creation accounts in genesis. 3. Failed end time prophecy given by Jesus in Matthew 24 concerning his imminent return which was scheduled before the end of the listening generation. 4. Failed prophecy on the destruction of Tyre.
5. Inaccurate knowledge of geography. Stating that the sun, moon and stars are all in the sky.
Christians examine your beliefs pls..do not derail this thread |

KingEbukasBlog: Here's an excerpt from the article
It may be a profound experience, but the fundamental problem is that there's really no way to scientifically measure whether or not a person's spirit "leaves" or "enters" the body. The simplest and best explanation for out-of-body experiences is that the person is merely fantasizing and dreaming. Because there is no scientific evidence that the soul exists — or for that matter that consciousness can exist outside of the brain — the premise behind astral projection is rejected by scientists
This explains what I said last time . There is no way to ascertain through science how a spirit enters or leaves the body so they claim the person is dreaming or fantasizing . So this shows its limitation .
If I'm astral travelling , I can experience events in another location without being physically present. The whole experience is rooted in esoterism and occultism..
I doubt the researchers here understand astral travel is . @bolded..... abeg do your astral thing and enter astral mode..and please tell me the color of the gallon of fuel i am with right now...abeg? Am at asaba...hint...need more hints? |

CeoMYN: The bible itself is one of the reasons, an Ominipotent, Ominipresent, Ominiscient God will not be jealous, order mass murder. Some humans can't be that bad. Some humans have better hearts than Yahweh. And you call him God. he killed babies...indirectly and supported abortion by ordering that babies be ripped out their pregnant mothers...and christians would be yapping about being moral |

LightandDarkness: What I dislike the most is when people warp science. Research suggests this universe started about 13b years ago. Current thought is the big bang theory, just because we don't know what caused the expansion or te initial beginning doesn't suggest a creator just because we don't know.
One feature common across religions and their books is the fact that their knowledge of the universe is always limited to the knowledge available at the time. Isn't it interesting your God never told us about the another planets, galaxies etc that he created? how someone can even proudly confine god to a book sef suprises me... |
