most new generational kids in nigeria speak english as their first, primary and only language.has it translated to academic xcellence?
Even if most new generational kids speak English as you claimed, that doesn't mean they are good at it. That kid that speaks 'English' might not even know the meaning and uses of a preposition or interjection.

EducationRe: “Does Speaking Of English As First Language Promotes Academic Excellence?” by Rapmoney(m): 6:58am On Oct 31, 2016
In my opinion, I think it does. A child who is not academically sound in written and spoken English is likely to perform poorly in other subjects because the other subjects are mostly taught in English. This will affect the overall academic performance of the child.

There's no need saying we should learn Biology or Chemistry or Economics in our local languages due to the problems that can create. For instance, there are many biological terms and chemical terms that cannot be translated to our local languages. Trying to find the synonymous words, sentences or phrases of these terms in our local languages is a huge problem on its own.

The truth is that we learn in English and whoever that cannot express himself/herself clearly in same can hardly transfer knowledge!

I am of the opinion that two things make the whole man
1. Genetic predisposition
2. Environmental factor

As for me, the genetic predisposition plays a very major role
Yeah, thanks a lot. I know environmental factor plays a role but nature, which is translated to heridity creates an innate capacity to study, understand easily and be creative. it is the same reason why some people do not need to study much to understand. Such is not determined by environment; it is caused by nature.

Intelligence is inherited. I mean high IQ, so is character traits. So be careful what kind of character you marry. If the person is a thief and greedy. It will take a strong will for the child not to follow the same useless route. Though environment and parent nurturing also plays its own role, where character is concerned.
That's the nature-nurture controversy in Psychology! cheesy Though, I believe traits like criminal tendencies and the likes are leaning more towards nurture i.e the environment.

Is Intelligence Inherited In A Family?

"An apple doesn't fall far from the tree" - English proverb.

I spent some years of my life teaching pupils/students at different times from Basic 1 to SS 3. Over these years, I was also able to meet with most of the parents of my pupils/students. One particular thing I observed was that pupils/students whose academic performances were very poor and who lacked the capacity to understand the various subjects taught, plus inability in exhibiting creativity, either had parents who were not 'averagely' intelligent or if they had one parent who happened to be intelligent, they didn't take after that parent; they took after the other in mentality and character.

I also observed that some kids might be intelligent, smart and academically sound while some or all of their siblings would be unintelligent and indifferent to creativity. After meeting both parents of such families, I observed that the intelligent child often took after either the mum or dad who is intelligent in attitude, mentality and character; in fact, sometimes, I have noticed physical appearances and features as part of the resemblance in nature. Have you ever wondered why some people do not study as hard as you do to understand the contents and materials of a course, and even teach you? huh Such people do not need to read much to understand! It is in the gene. Don't forget the brain is the seat of intelligence biologically; if children can take resemblance of one parent in terms of eyes, nose, mouth, way of walking, way of talking, etc, what stops them from taking semblance of the brain too?

When an intelligent person didn't inherit his/her intelligence from either parents, check deeper, there could be someone in either the mother's side or father's side he/she must have gotten it from. It is this inheritance that gives children the interest to learn, understand, cultivate the interest to pursue knowledge and exhibit creativity. It spurs the attitude of curiosity to learn in a child. Such inheritance of intelligence does not necessarily make a child to be intelligent but it gives the child that innate (natural) consciousness and desire to learn and create things in whatever field he/she finds himself/herself in future; whether in science, arts, entertainment, technology, education, finance or agriculture.

There is a high possibility that two naturally intelligent people will give birth to intelligent children if they marry. There is also a high possibility that the reverse will be the case if the two people involve are not 'averagely' intelligent. An apple never falls far from the tree.

This is the reason why I always opine that love is not enough in a marital affair; especially, when you as a young person, possesses some basic standards as regards an ideal and balanced family.

PropertiesWhy Do Nigerians Pay For Transformers After Paying Electricity Bills? by Rapmoney(op): 11:27pm On Oct 25, 2016
I don't know the exact section on this forum to post this but the mods should help me take this to the appropriate section if I missed my way.

In civilized societies, it is expected that citizens/residents enjoy what they pay for as regard bills and utility but over here, we are made to pay for things we are normally not suppose to pay for. A good example is the issue of Nigerians paying through their noses to buy transformers and maintain these transformers. Is this not absurd? huh Consumers pay ridiculous amounts as electricity bills and they would also be asked to buy and maintain transformers! I would like to know if it is in place for Nigerians to buy, repair and maintain transformers and other facilities that go with electricity, when we as consumers pay electricity bills huh It is just like going to a restaurant to eat and after paying for the food, you are asked to pay for the plates that have been used to serve you.

Mind you, this has been the case even when the service of providing electricity was completely in the hands of the government and not private firms!

Christianity EtcThe Religious Ignorance Of Hastily Calling People 'Atheists' by Rapmoney(op): 11:54am On Oct 19, 2016
I read a religious post on this forum yesterday evening that revolved around paying tithes or so. While going through the comments on the thread, I observed again, a religious mentality among many Nigerians which I have observed countless times before - wrongly calling people 'atheists' because they seem to hold religious opinions that are different from the usual and popular religious dogmas inherent in our society.

It seems most Nigerians are so confused and ignorant on who an atheist is. An atheist simply means a person who does not believe that any gods exist. With this definition, it makes me wonder if most of us truly know the meaning of atheist or atheism before addressing people as such. On the tithing thread I made reference to earlier, someone was trying to bring out evidences to show that paying of tithes was only an ancient Jewish tradition that does not conform to the New Life, where Christians are expected to live under Grace and not Law. Unfortunately, someone bluntly called him an ATHEIST!!! Why? huh Just for the fact that he was not of the opinion that people should pay tithes in the church. I am not concerned with whether tithes should be paid in the church or not; what I am concerned about is the act of hastily calling people 'Atheists' due to non-conformity to popular religious dogmas. I must state it also that I was satisfied that the so-called 'atheist' was able to defend himself and prove to the ignorant that he is not an atheist just because he did not support tithing. To me, situations like this, show an extreme level of religious ignorance among many Nigerians!!! There are people who belong to one faith or the other but do not conform to all the usual religious dogmas that go along with such faith. Calling them atheist simply shows how religiously ignorant one is because the meaning of atheism or atheist is far from what most of us ignorantly believe. Even African Traditional Worshippers are not atheists; they are just polytheists because they believe in the existence of multiple gods.

We should not ascribe religious or philosophical status to people indiscriminately when they don't conform to popular doctrines or dogmas!!! Especially, when we don't understand the true meaning of such ideas, due to intellectual blindness and incapacity!

Thank you.

RomanceRe: My Opinion: "Trendy" Ladies Make Better Wives Than "Churchy" Ladies by Rapmoney(m): 8:13pm On Oct 14, 2016
Cutehector:
I was Just chilling out with my Goons in the evening, just jisting about random stuff, we were just outside our gate when a group of ladies living in the same lodge with us walked outstide past us, you know when a group of ladies walk past a gathering of guys, the previous discussion changes immediately and is fixated on those ladies.

So one of my guys asked me, Hector oh boy na u dey carry all these babes abi, cuz earlier on, two of them were in my room so he probably thought I had something ulterior with them, my response to ma guy was Godforbid I told him naaah, cuz I know the kind of girls I roll with. So he now reminded me about one Churchy (by Churchy, I mean one who frequents fellowships like her life depended on it) girl who stayed opposite my room, that if I'm not into the girls who walked past us, then I should make a pass at the Churchy gurl...

I quickly did the "tufiakwa" sign and told him I rather marry a girl who's rather bad/naughty than marry a lady who is too too extreme with church/fellowship activities. Then I gave him my reasons

1. Trendy ladies are more submissive that Churchy ladies

when a trendy lady gets married, she tends to drop her previous lifestyle and focuses more on her husband and her family.. while Churchy ladies never change. They are so so preoccupied with activities in church to the extent the don't have time for their family. If it's not one Night vigil, it will be church meeting, from Retreat to Choir practice to Meeting with Diocese. Most times they come back so late at night they forget they have a husband who comes back home feeling tired and needs some help.

2. Churchy Ladies are too too uptight and strict.

When having a discussion with a girl who is fellowship oriented, her discussions will just be about Church. When her husband suggests to her about her lack of dress sense, she links it with the bible. She castigates other ladies who try to look good for themselves and say they are worldly... she doesn't even for one day try to look sexy for her husband, she isn't flexible, she is just too rigid, I believe their sex life when married will just be as boring as anything.

3: Trendy Ladies are more receptive to their in-laws than Churchy ladies.

Yes, she will be so so free with her in-laws and try as much as possible to socialize with each and everyone of them. She really knows what to do and what to say.. but Churchy ladies try so hard, they hardly mingle, all they know is fellowship, meeting, election. Etc..

4. Most Churchy Ladies are worse than trendy ladies.

They think they are too righteous, infact they appear righteous to people but their behaviors in private will shock a bad girl. With a trendy girl, you already know her character, and you are free with her, but the Churchy lady will always be a hypocrite and pretender.

After giving my thoughts on that, my goons somewhat agreed with me and affirmed to my points. I told them I rather end up marrying a "worldly" babe than trying to associate myself with one who is too too extreme with church affairs.

But that not withstanding, I decided to share our discussion online here with y'all ma E-niggas to share one or two about your opinions on either of the two and tell us which of these category of ladies you"d like to end up marrying.
Thanks.
All I can say is: Stop posting childish stuffs on public forums. I mean, when will you stop that? huh When you get to the stage of getting married in life, you will know which one is better for a life partner. Life is not all about trends and trendy! A good woman is not determined by being trendy or churchy. Marry someone who can make positive impacts in your life. Period!!! cool
