Christianity EtcRe: Who Created God? by RayMcBlue(m):
gatiano: GOD is self created! How? we will never know, only 12 people on the planet know how GOD was created and its never to be shared, GOD hid himself away from men since men were stubborn, but today! he has revealed himself, to those who understand will understand, and those who would not won't, their heart has been made strong. GOD is a reality!
Let's imagine that I tell you the following story:

-There is a man who lives at the North Pole.
-He lives there with his wife and a bunch of elves.
-During the year, he and the elves build toys.
-Then, on Christmas Eve, he loads up a sack with all the toys.
-He puts the sack in his sleigh.
-He hitches up eight (or possibly nine) flying reindeer.
-He then flies from house to house, landing on the
rooftops of each one.
-He gets out with his sack and climbs down the chimney.
-He leaves toys for the children of the household.
-He climbs back up the chimney, gets back in his sleigh, and flies to the next house.
-He does this all around the world in one night.
-Then he flies back to the North Pole to repeat the cycle next year.

This, of course, is the story of Santa Claus.

But let's say that I am an adult, and I am your friend, and I reveal to you that I believe that this story is true. I believe it with all my heart. And I try to talk about it with you and convert you to believe it as I do. What would you think of me? You would think that I am delusional, and rightly so.

Why do you think that I am delusional? It is because you know that Santa is imaginary. The story is a total fairy tale. No matter how much I talk to you about Santa, you are not going to believe that Santa is real. Flying reindeer, for example, are make-believe. The dictionary defines delusion as, "A false belief strongly held in spite of invalidating evidence." That definition fits perfectly.

Since you are my friend, you might try to help me realize that my belief in Santa is a delusion. The way that you would try to do that is by asking me some questions. For example, you might say to me:

-"But how can the sleigh carry enough toys for everyone in the world?" (I say to you that the sleigh is magical. It has the ability to do this intrinsically).

-"How does Santa get into houses and apartments that don't have chimneys?" (I say that Santa can make chimneys appear, as shown to all of us in the movie The Santa Clause).

-"How does Santa get down the chimney if there's a fire in the fireplace?" (I say that Santa has a special flame- resistant suit, and it cleans itself too).

-"Why doesn't the security system detect Santa?" (Santa is invisible to security systems).

-"How can Santa travel fast enough to visit every child in one night?" (Santa is timeless).

"How can Santa know whether every child has been bad or good?" (Santa is omniscient).

"Why are the toys distributed so unevenly? Why does Santa deliver more toys to rich kids, even if they are bad, than he ever gives to poor kids?" (There is no way for us to understand the mysteries of Santa because we are mere mortals, but Santa has his reasons. For example, perhaps poor children would be unable to handle a flood of expensive electronic toys. How would they afford the batteries? So Santa spares them this burden).

These are all quite logical questions that you have asked. I have answered all of them for you. I am wondering why you can't see what I see, and you are wondering how I can be so insane.

Why didn't my answers satisfy you? Why do you still know that I am delusional? It is because my answers have done nothing but confirm your assessment. My answers are ridiculous. In order to answer your questions, I invented, completely out of thin air, a magical sleigh, a magical self-cleaning suit, magical chimneys, "timelessness" and magical invisibility. You don't believe my answers because you know that I am making this stuff up. The invalidating evidence is voluminous.

Try, just for a moment, to look at Christianity with the
same amount of healthy skepticism that you used when approaching the story of Santa, you would realize that the concept of an "All knowing being" is man's fabrication... just like Santa.

benELOHIM7: how do u explain the case of a man declared clinically dead (brain dead) but comes back to life and talks about death eperiences??
"Near Death Experience" is a natural, chemically induced state that the human brain enters. The trigger for an NDE is lack of oxygen to the brain and body. If you read scientific papers, you find that there is a completely chemical and completely non-spiritual reason for the features of every NDE.

There is a drug called "Ketamine" that produces all of the elements of an NDE when it is injected into normal, non-dying people, BTW.

benELOHIM7: this is how i understand what striktlymi is saying: life is like an engine running on a certain quantity of fuel. when the fuel finishes what happens? the engine goes off but the fuel is transformed into something else which still exists. the soul is the fuel while the engine is our mortal self
^^^Hmmmn...

Now here is the question: When the bacterium dies, does it get an afterlife?

What about mosquitoes? A mosquito is much more complex than a bacterium cell. For one thing, a mosquito is a multi-cellular insect with amazing capabilities. But if you look at each cell in a mosquito, it is very much like a bacterium in its basic functioning.

What about mice? They are no different from mosquitoes. Mice are multicellular organisms, but each cell is a little chemical factory very much like a bacterium. Dogs? Ditto. Chimps? Ditto.

What if later in life they make a new discovery that will cancel the one you are holding on to now? What if you are dead by then and you cant do anything about it than to face the discovery? What if what you ll face then will be so horrible and could ve been averted if you had given a deeper thought to this issue now?
So? "Discovery" is infinite... as is science.

striktlymi: If you don't know that everything (even the rock you step on) is one form of energy or the other, in its strict sense, then there is no need having a debate with you.
I agree that energy is a constant, and undergo all sorts of transformations, but imbibing it in your delusions of afterlife is a no-no. "Consciousness" is not a form of energy. It's a byproduct of the human psyche as a result of chemical reactions. Don't complicate the issue.

alexleo: And this is also your own invention because you havent died before to be so sure of what you are saying. NO PROOF(as you people will always say). Before the discovery of planets, people then never knew such things existed.
The beauty of science is that it never assumes. It doesn't invent notions out of thing air. It examines, calculates, separates and then proposes. It's borne of "cold hard logic."

Good riddance. grin

Christianity EtcRe: Who Created God? by RayMcBlue(m):
RikoduoSennin: Oxford Dictionary definition of the word "Faith"- to have complete trust or confidence. Other definitions of faith relates to religion.

Now tell me, do you have complete confidence/trust in Science, Is that no longer "faith" because science is not viewed as a religion?

Open mind, will do a lot of good in this matter. Your mind has already been made up, Faith relates or specific to only religion. ***sigh***
But weren't you the one that said earlier that the dictionary shouldn't, "MUSTN'T" be used in defining religious matters? And I quote:

"Dictionary is not an authority on religious matter..."

And yet, there you were, completely contradicting yourself. A behaviour atypical of an average Christian. This is what your bible calls "hypocrisy." Bravo.
Christianity EtcRe: When We Die! by RayMcBlue(m): 8:46pm On Sep 04, 2014
striktlymi: I think you are right but one can argue that individual consciousness began before we were born but because of the limited nature of our current existence, we have forgotten what that state of consciousness was like.
Though, I wouldn't go that far personally but I believe there is an element of truth in that line of thought. It is widely accepted that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. Consciousness is a form of energy; which implies that consciousness as we know it today was not exactly created, strictly speaking.
Consciousness could only have been derived from the Ultimate Energy source, though in another form other than our experience of it today. To deny an existence beyond our 'physicality' would be to act against that fundamental 'principle' of science. Consciousness does not just seize to exist when we die. It only transforms. What happens after the transformation is subject to debate.
The "miracle of life" is no miracle -- it is a big chemical reaction. When those reactions stop, the cell is dead.

The human body is nothing but a set of chemical reactions. The chemical reactions powering a human life are no different from the reactions powering the life of a bacterium, a mosquito, a mouse, a dog or a chimp. When a human being dies, the chemical reactions stop. Finis.

There is no "energy" or "soul" mixed in with the chemicals, just like there is no soul in a bacterium, a mosquito, a mouse, a dog or a chimp. Why would there be an afterlife for the chemicals that make up a human body?

The whole notion of your energy transforming when you die is completely imaginary. The concept of a "soul" has been invented by religion because many people have trouble facing their own mortality. It makes people feel better, but the concept is a complete fabrication. Don't mix science with delusions, please, both have absolutely nothing in common.

Christianity EtcRe: When We Die! by RayMcBlue(m):
The afterlife is a fairy tale invented by human imagination. And each person's fairy tale is different.

We imagine that we have "souls," fabricate the concept of "eternal life" and then fantasize a place called "heaven," complete with streets of gold, calorie-free foods, frolicking virgins and whatever else we can come up with. Christians imagine it so vividly and repeat the fantasy so often that they actually believe it to be reality.

How bizarre can the fantasies get? Fly to Cairo and take a look at the Great Pyramid . There is the pyramid itself - still one of the largest man-made objects on earth. In addition there is the whole mummification process, the disassembled boats, the sacred artwork and so on. All of this was designed to help the pharaoh reach the afterlife.

We look at it now and we all know, with absolute certainty, that it was a complete and total waste of time. The Egyptian notion of the afterlife was a fantasy. The Christian notion of the afterlife is a fantasy in exactly the same way. Heaven is completely imaginary, just like hell... and just like God. Don't get it twisted.

TV/MoviesRe: Big Brother Africa Postponed Due To Fire Incident At BBA House In SA! by RayMcBlue(m): 9:26am On Sep 03, 2014
F117A: As you've rightly agreed ;Nigeria has the bigger GDP,which means there is more business going on in Nigeria than anywhere else in africa which makes it africa's economic hub.
Though i agree,SA has the better infrastructure, which is why SA has a stronger and more developed manufacturing sector than Nigeria.
Nigerians population outnumbered that of S/A at ratio of 5:1. More people, more business. But does that make it an economic hub? Not at all. For example, in the Asian market, one would expect China with their monstrous population and GDP to dominate, but that's not the case. Tokyo and Seoul held sway.

You see similar scenario in Africa where Nigeria held the highest GDP, while S/Africa controls the economy.
Christianity EtcRe: Who Created God? by RayMcBlue(m):
RikoduoSennin: Your first statement above is wrong. Look carefully at the bolded section. This thread is not about the bible all about God's qualities rather its about his existence. We can discuss the other matter in another thread please. It seems you are just venting all your here.
Au contrare. It's valid. A direct response to your egregious deflection. You pointed me to the bible to make your point, or did you not?

RikoduoSennin: Your last state here contradict your first statement. God did not write the bible his a Fact, he neither used his hands nor a pen/paper to write it.
Couldn't agree more. The bible was written by primitive men, many of whom were insane.
,
RikoduoSennin: On the bolded section: The concept of God's plan you are used to or try to portray here is wrong, I hold no such believe.

Even though it is not part of this thread, I will endorse you a little (but I will not discuss it in lenght here).

Man has free will to do whatever he wants, abortion , kill, etc Many diseases and Natural disaster occurs as a result of Man mismanaging his environment and resources. Somethings time amd change (being at the wrong place, at the wrong time lead to bad things), these are not God's faults nor are his plan for Man.

Blaming God for every bad thing that happen his wrong. God's did not design Man like robots who must follow every program/instruction. He is not responsible for what we do with out life, only we are responsible for that.
^^^And the rationalizing and contradictions continues...Lolz.

If you look in the Bible, there are an amazing number of people that God wants his followers to murder. For example, in Exodus 35:2 God lays down this commandment:

"For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death."

In other words, if we actually listened to what God says, we would need to kill at least half of the people in Africa tomorrow. After all, Isaiah 40:8 says, "The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand for ever." The word of the Lord tells us to kill half of the world's population. No free will in sight.

The believers completely ignore these parts of the Bible. That is because they know that the verses are insane.

RikoduoSennin: Let's leave it at that. If you say God does not exist, What then caused our existence and why- please try to convince me using those FACTs you were talking about.
So you would rather believe that that a supernatural being created every thing than actually challenge your intellect by thinking outside the box? Yeah, that makes absolute sense.

The universe is a vast place. The universe contains gazillions of galaxies and each galaxy is home to billions and of stars. Each star has it's own private solar system. Contemplate earth - out of all the gazillions of stars and planets in the universe, is earth the only planetary body that contained life? That's how you think outside the box. Something your belief don't give you the luxury to do. The sad thing: You're living in mental slavery/bondage but completely unaware. Like they say, "Ignorance is bliss."

RikoduoSennin: That is what the thread is all about not bashing of the bible and God qualities. This not the way debate are carried out. In debates, you use what your opponents say( their own words) not what you have concocted by yourself from hearsay- that is all you have been saying in this thread.
Your flimsy arguments did nothing but equipped me with the necessary armoury to come at you. You postulates, I counter with gusto. You pointed me to your bible, I showed you how unreliable it is. You pointed me to your God qualities, I showed you just how mythical he is. What I've been doing is basically poke holes in the "swiss cheese" you disguised as strong points. You call it hearsay, I call it cold hard logic.
TV/MoviesRe: Big Brother Africa Postponed Due To Fire Incident At BBA House In SA! by RayMcBlue(m): 7:36am On Sep 03, 2014
F117A: South africa is not the economic hub of africa , BBA or not.
Infact, Nigeria is actually the entertainment capital of africa.
Get your facts right.
Being the entertainment capital doesn't make one an economic hub, mate. In terms of development and infrastructures, we set the pace, others follow. Nigeria may have the bigger GDP, but that doesn't mean anything.

South Africa will always rule, till your country gets their shìt together.
Christianity EtcRe: Who Created God? by RayMcBlue(m): 7:20am On Sep 03, 2014
RikoduoSennin: Humans have never lived up to hundreds of millions of years, so no one has witnessed evolution from start to finish, yet Many believe what they have not seen just because some seemingly smart people say it is so- is that not blind faith?

To Each one with his/ her believes!
Wow! This man is something else. Goes to show me you knew nothing about science, at all.

Science has nothing to do with faith. Science examines, calculates, separates and postulates. Faith (the bedrock of Christian belief) meanwhile cut corners and goes straight to postulations.

See the difference? Science is cold hard logic, Faith is borne out of sentiments, thus, nonsensical. Another proof that God is imaginary.
